by Ken Layne

If U didn't come 2 party, Don't bother knockin' on my doorGood lord, Wonkette should just preemptively schedule a “recovery day” for Nov. 5, as none of you people will be in any shape to read words or process numbers next Wednesday. We asked for your SEXY ELECTION PARTYTIME listings, and we have a couple dozen fine offerings from Washington D.C. to Washington State, Tokyo to Tacoma, Bridgeport to Boston, Dallas to Dublin, Ottawa to Quetzaltenango, Sarasota to Seattle, Memphis to, uh, Ho Chi Minh City … plus Vegas and San Francisco and Brooklyn and MORE, MORE.

  • NEW JERSEY
  • We’re on tour for vote day, so we’re having an elections return party aspart of our nerdcore hip-hop performance at Mexicali Live in Teaneck NJ. Audience members will hear race returns from the stage, win worthless candidate-related crap, play Obama Takes A State Bingo, and run for incredibly local offices such as Deputy Minister Of Buying The Band Another Round. It’ll be a flag-wavin’ good time for all. Ten bucks advance, twelve at the door, which opens (we think) around 8p. Thanks!

Here’s the invite my teacher wifey and I are sending out to her emailing list:
Election Night Returns Party For Port Angeles Area Educators, at the Downtown Hotel, right in the heart of (you guessed it) downtown Port Angeles. Come and drop in anytime after 4:30pm, party goes ’til whenever.
The hosts are providing a salad bar, couple cases of wine and beer and some pizzas. This is a semi-pot-luck event so bring anything else you’d like to have on hand to eat/drink, or bring nothing at all. Elitist Liberals should bring white wine and arugula, Hard Core Conservatives are encouraged to bring red meat. Guys named Joe should bring a six-pack (or be an unemployed plumber). Call or email us at the hotel if you need directions or more info.
    http://portangelesdowntownhotel.com/
(We’re having the party in the lobby and the largest guest room, since it’s the slow season for little tourist hotels in our town. Like the invite says, this is mostly for teachers, but Wonkettes in the Port Angeles area are certainly welcome too! I’ll be the one in the shirt with the hotel logo on it, ’cause I’m the boss.)
  • There will be an election night bash at The Mixx in Tacoma, WA at 629 St Helens Ave. We would be honored beyond all sense if you put our humble Tacoma party on your list. http://www.myspace.com/themixtacoma — Marguerite Giguere

That one better win.

queeraselvis v 2.0 October 29, 2008 at 4:15 pm

Word up, Josh in Memphis! Midtown REPRESENT!

NewSpence October 29, 2008 at 4:15 pm

What, no L.A.? Lame!
I’d volunteer, but I’m going to be out on a street corner in Silverlake, shaking my No on Prop 8 sodomite ass until the polls close at 8:30 West Coast.

Voyou Charmant October 29, 2008 at 4:15 pm

I would have submitted my party details, but the last thing I want to do is drink until can’t stand while hitting on strangers from the internet — I do enough of that already.

Licensed Analrapist October 29, 2008 at 4:16 pm

Austin??????

sarahconnor October 29, 2008 at 4:16 pm

Oh! Union Hall… me likey. But will the neighbors???

jinmoom October 29, 2008 at 4:16 pm

Redstate wingnuts are going to invade every single one of these parties and carve a backwards J (FOR JOHN MCCAIN) on the faces of all attendees.

Dreamer October 29, 2008 at 4:17 pm

Maybe I should fly to Dublin – there party sounds like fun. I can be annoying but I can’t do drunk.

shortsshortsshorts October 29, 2008 at 4:18 pm

Hey “Katie and Annie.” Your food looks awesome, but please make more of it. I am a size 60 pair of shorts for a reason.

kile October 29, 2008 at 4:18 pm

No Chicago, no LA, no fun.

DAmicosonegoodyear October 29, 2008 at 4:19 pm

Nada in Wisconsin? I haz a sad…

sarahconnor October 29, 2008 at 4:19 pm

Oh noes, Election Night at Union Hall… I think I am old enough to be your mother… are any of you even old enough to vote? or drink?

Dreamer October 29, 2008 at 4:19 pm

My spelling and grammar is shitty today. I blame you Wonkette – you made me read that Edwards alleged speech writer.

Voyou Charmant October 29, 2008 at 4:20 pm

…but if you’re interested:

Obama Victory Rager in Vero Beach.
Starts at 8:10PM
Hosted by Abigail Kennedy-Jefferson-Adams (my cat)
Bring your own beer, or drink mine when I’m not looking.
I have a big TV and seating for 5, so, I hope you like the floor, suckers.

Srsly, though. If you do happen to live in the Indian River county area and read Wonkette, you’re invited.

PoliTacky October 29, 2008 at 4:20 pm

What? Nothing in Los Angeles? Great, now I have to drink alone in the dark, just like I do every night…

MargeSimpsonsBlackFriend October 29, 2008 at 4:20 pm

[re=154560]Dreamer[/re]: I was thinking the same thing. US Air has a special going right now too.

Lascauxcaveman October 29, 2008 at 4:21 pm

Oh man, I might have to cxl my party so I can go to ortmann’s.

I mean, how cool would it be to watch American elecltion returns in an Irish bar in Vietnam? If I could drive there in a French car with my Polish mistress while smoking un Cubana Grande, it’d be even better.

DarkSynergy October 29, 2008 at 4:21 pm

I am heading up Tuesday morning from Indy to join in the Chicago festivities. I should be bombed by Gary. Cheers!

Gopherit October 29, 2008 at 4:22 pm

Forget the parties, I’m holing up with my wife, her cats, and some guns.

Ken Layne October 29, 2008 at 4:22 pm

DON’T HAZ A SAD, people. If you were TOO LAZY to get your party in today’s post, you can maybe just TYPE IT IN THE COMMENTS! Or send it right away, via the emails, and maybe Juli will put it in HER party post tomorrow. Or not.

Tommy Says Soooo October 29, 2008 at 4:22 pm

I haz a sad. I’m in Detroit. We will keep the skinned squirrel fur and make finger puppets for the chilluns after roasting them for dinner.

Varchar October 29, 2008 at 4:23 pm

Bwahaha! My Chicago compatriots and I have you all beat!

Joey Ratz October 29, 2008 at 4:25 pm

Aren’t there several of us in Tucson? I wouldn’t mind celebrating the ascension of That One with a brew or two with…, well, anyone, really.

Baseproduct October 29, 2008 at 4:26 pm

Mmmm…. that’s a great option, Dallas. Go outside and watch the glorious Ascendency of Hope, then die of tuberculosis thanks to weather exposure.

[re=154584]Tommy Says Soooo[/re]: Seems like there isn’t much sense in making them finger puppets, at that point.

Tommy Says Soooo October 29, 2008 at 4:29 pm

[re=154584]Tommy Says Soooo[/re]: Uh, I mean roasting the squirrels. Unless that damned Button made me type roasting chillun.

DarkSynergy October 29, 2008 at 4:29 pm

If anyone wants to carpool from Indy, let a brother know.

Jebediah October 29, 2008 at 4:29 pm

A victory party at Mavericks… That’s great! I can’t wait to see some librul ‘litists riding the mechanical bull!

JoeFannyPack October 29, 2008 at 4:31 pm

I hear that Ashley Todd will be making an appearance at the Pittsburgh party if she can find an ATM on the way.

The Toronto Democrats Abroad Communist organization are congregating at Plaza Flamingo at 423 College Street near Bathurst St. However, they want 25 clams at the door. Whatever happened to “From each according to his means…”? Aw screw it. I drink alone.

[re=154572]Voyou Charmant[/re]: Dang, VC, we’re laying in cases of champagne over here in Orlando! (OK, I’m an elitist – sue me) Y’all step outside on Election Night and look northwest – if y’all see a glow on the horizon, one of our drunken libruls will’ve set the lanai on fire, like our last party…

skippy October 29, 2008 at 4:35 pm

Skippy attended a Democrats Abroad election party in Melbourne in 2004 and it was a brutal mistake. I will not be burned again. Are we absolutely sure we know how this thing is going to go?

smitty October 29, 2008 at 4:36 pm

Don’t haz a sad, LA! Election Night Party at the Echoplex – Mad Decent Tour with Diplo and Abe Vigoda. Election returns upstairs and dancing downstairs. Will be a great party. Buy your tix at http://www.attheecho.com in advance, this will sell out.

TGY October 29, 2008 at 4:36 pm

I got the feeling anybody overtly partying here in Atlanta after McFail has his pants beaten better be wearing iron Kevlar underwear.

I’m kind of worried about meeting Wonketteers in person. What will they think when they find out I don’t actually look as sexy as any of my avatars?

Hobo wine is fucking sexy and that’s hard to live up to.

McCain is heading the party in ‘Nam…head’s up you guys!

Josh Fruhlinger October 29, 2008 at 4:42 pm

Does sitting on your couch obsessively watching TV and refreshing 40 different blogs and news sites every five seconds, alone because you’re too anxious to speak to your fellow humans, count as a “party”? No? Well, never mind, none of you were invited anyway.

TinyTheToga October 29, 2008 at 4:44 pm

There are going to be a lot of drunk, angry Wonketteers when McCain wraps up his stunning comeback.

Don’t forget to pack your riot kit, kids:
* Toothpick for carving skin-deep backwards letters in the face of The Man
* Catchy slogans rhyming “Stealin’” with “Palin’”
* Reserve alcohol, for wounds and sustenance
* Your laptop, so you can liveblog realtime from the action, letting the lazy internets enjoy the fun too

[re=154552]NewSpence[/re]: There’s gonna be a big group at Hank’s downtown (8th and Grand) blasting chambers brothers all night and getting really outrageous

Who are these wonkettes from Sarasota? I am under the impression I know all three cool people in the tri county area. Please identify yourselves….

MargeSimpsonsBlackFriend: Maybe we should go together.

Doglessliberal October 29, 2008 at 4:53 pm

[re=154583]Ken Layne[/re]: WHEN Hopey wins, we need to have a Wonkette gathering in DC near the Inaugural. Plane tickets won’t be cheap, though, as the 19th is a holiday, so you know the airlines will be jacking up the rates for that and then also into DC because of the Inaugurual. Still, it would be super delightful to have a Wonkette thing, sort of like the Paultard protest, but even better because we’d be drinking out of happiness.

Michael Bauser October 29, 2008 at 4:55 pm

Um, I havescheduled a recovery day after the election. Told the bosses six months ago that I’m taking November 3-5 off.

Seriously, the rest of you are expecting to show up for work Wednesday? Amateurs.

Doglessliberal October 29, 2008 at 4:55 pm

[re=154642]Josh Fruhlinger[/re]: I will be doing that at my own party. The cat, husband, and I huddled together in fear of a McAngry comeback. We might even be too afraid to do anything but get blind drunk, not listen to or look at any news sources, and pass out until the morning when we will have to face the news. Well, the cat won’t get drunk, but he can have all the catnip he wants.

DAmicosonegoodyear October 29, 2008 at 4:58 pm

I’d host a par-tay, but my hobo cardboard box shack is not well suited to host anything other than a break-dance off. And I’m in the reddest part of cheddarland, too, surrounded by bitterz and numbtrucknutz.

I’ll just fix my self a gin and tonic or seven and hope that I don’t end up crying my self to sleep like the last presidential election. Weee!

Keram2 October 29, 2008 at 5:00 pm

[re=154557]sarahconnor[/re]: Screw Park Slopers and screw Community Board 6. Although Union Hall is amazing, I propose a change of venue to The Bell House on 7th and 3rd in Gowanus. It’s owned by the same people as Union Hall, has no bullshit neighbors, and is like 17x bigger than it’s sister bar in Park Slope. Also, you might run into Eugene Mirman, who’s a regular there.

bluetom00 October 29, 2008 at 5:03 pm

Nothing is happening in Philadelphia until Wednesday, November 5, because the election’s been delayed until then. I know this because I saw it on the flier posted in all the black neighborhoods.

Another DC Lawyer (Again) October 29, 2008 at 5:03 pm

As the elite effette godless unamerican liberal that I am, I’m going to be in Paris on election night — sipping chablis, eating brie and taking notes on French Socialism to import back home to our new Kenyan Warlord God! C’est moi!

Actually I land at 6:30 am on the 5th, probs right as the thing gets called. Any ideas where the hot-early-morning-watching U.S. election results in France are? And don’t worry, I already voted…in the Fake-Virginia part.

Slim October 29, 2008 at 5:38 pm

where the hell is Portland up in here?

PerhapsSo October 29, 2008 at 5:39 pm

I would tell people in Philly to party at my place, but I’m too lazy to plan such an event.

sarahconnor October 29, 2008 at 5:43 pm

[re=154707]Keram2[/re]: huzzah! 17x bigger than Union Hall AND Eugene Mirman! Are you sending this comment into the fakebook organizers!

hockeymom October 29, 2008 at 5:48 pm

Minneapolis, anyone?

It can be a party for Obama and a wake for Franken. (new polls today. not good for the funny guy. Thanks Dean Barkley. Doofus.)

chaste everywhere October 29, 2008 at 5:48 pm

NoWireHangers: You’re probably right, but either they’d be too young or I’d be too old, I can’t remember which.

masterdebater October 29, 2008 at 5:49 pm

I’d do her. There, I said it!

Citizen Kang October 29, 2008 at 5:59 pm

We, the people who were born in Saigon when it was still called such, do not deign to refer to it as Ho Chi Minh City. It offends our sensibilities.

godforbidowright October 29, 2008 at 6:03 pm

Who’s betting we’ll see photos of Rudy dressed as Moose-girl at one of these shindigs?

Strappo October 29, 2008 at 6:11 pm

Where the fuck is NYC in this honor roll? (I don’t mean fucking Brooklyn either, gumbahs.)

GaryGraves October 29, 2008 at 6:15 pm

Los Angeles election night shenanigans (the good kind) at the iO-West Theater in Hollywood. (6366 Hollywood Blvd!) Full bar and live comedy!!

passthearugula October 29, 2008 at 6:15 pm

My poor little brain exploded a little bit when I saw my Corvallis on this here list. I don’t know who you are, Wonketter from Corvallis, but I will see you at the par-tay.

Keram2 October 29, 2008 at 6:16 pm

[re=154796]sarahconnor[/re]: Eh, facebook is creepy enough without me being all like “HUR DUR, you don’t know me but your party is teh sux.” Either way, I’ll be there drunk off my ass on Sixpoint Obama Hop. $5 draft for craft beer. Fuck yeah.

God I sound like a commercial.

Senator Bateman October 29, 2008 at 6:16 pm

Helloooo? Anything for Southern California? I’ll bring Socialist Vodka and all the Gespato you can handle!

Strappo October 29, 2008 at 6:19 pm

[re=154868]Keram2[/re]: That sounds like a commercial on Pat Robertson’s channel. HOLY fuck.

Keram2 October 29, 2008 at 6:23 pm

[re=154873]Strappo[/re]: Hasn’t he died yet? Or was that Jerry Faldwell? Or Jesse Helms? I always have trouble keeping track of my racist white pedophiles and their secret collections of tiny shoes.

Hutch October 29, 2008 at 6:25 pm

Now I miss the old cities up North where I could crawl from the pub to my front door. Here in Strip Mall Heaven, Florida, every party ends with a crazy zigzag from a DUI. And how come only three parties in the whole of the state–I mean, one in Oregon I understand, but really–in all of Florida?!?

Oh, wait. The neighbors have fired up their grill that’s as big as a locomotive and a keg’s being hauled in. I’m heading over. Maybe we can get some canvassers drunk, drive them to a gated community in The Villages, hide them in the bushes, and imagine their reception by the rabid McCainers in the morning. Oh, maybe not.

sarahconnor October 29, 2008 at 6:27 pm

[re=154868]Keram2[/re]: i agree with everything you said. If I can make it I will be the one setting cars on fire.

PoliTacky October 29, 2008 at 6:27 pm

[re=154621]tunamelt[/re]: I’ll meet up with everyone in L.A. if either the snarky new guy or hulking Native American on my ward succeeds in smashing the window out with the 300 lb. water fountain…

Strappo October 29, 2008 at 6:36 pm

[re=154883]Keram2[/re]: Like the collection of tiny shoes, tres funny. Though it does sound a bit like insider knowledge…

Borat October 29, 2008 at 6:40 pm

I’m going to be in Qatar. Does anyone have a bong and want to party with me?

exdixie October 29, 2008 at 6:51 pm

Surely L.A. can do better than the Echoplex?

Czn939 October 29, 2008 at 6:55 pm

Ho Chi Minh city?
I’m so there!

lemurs October 29, 2008 at 7:27 pm

[re=154674]sweetits[/re]: So I kind of hate Mattisons, but they’ll have cable and booze so I’ll be there. I’m surprised anything is even going on in Sarasota considering its ridiculously high population of grandparents nobody wants anymore.

Petticoatjunction October 29, 2008 at 7:51 pm

[re=154790]Slim[/re]: Every individual house in Portland, Oregon will be setting off Vancouver fireworks, popping champagne corks, smashing pumpkins and dancing the hippy hippy shake in our driveways. Then the really big party will be Pioneer Courthouse Square on Inauguration Day. We’ll party on Cheney Indictment Day, too.

Or you could go to Corvallis.

Pelagius October 29, 2008 at 8:06 pm

Melbourne Australia: Maori Chief Hotel, South Melbourne, Wednesday 5/11 (yeah), 10:30 am onwards

tank this October 29, 2008 at 9:03 pm

I scored tickets to grant park (chicago), which should be followed either by a riot or rave that means I will sleep in the streets before walking to my office covered in vomit. Or maybe I’ll be trampled by all my friends who are on the waitlist and are stuck with what Hizzzzoner is calling “standing room only” seats on michigan avenue.

Rush October 29, 2008 at 9:18 pm

I’m sure my parents, who live in SCRANTON, won’t mind some drunk, Wonkateer liberaltards showing up. Just get there before 8:30 when they go to bed. The booze is kept under the plastic slip covers.

OhFuckThis October 29, 2008 at 10:34 pm

Oh right, like I’m going to schlep over to Hiroo on a Wednesday night and hang out with overweight drunken expats in a ridiculously overpriced faux Brit pub when I could just as easily score a couple or eight lemon-lime chu-hi tallboys at the local conbini and drink myself stupid on my own comfortable sofa. Gad, even whatever crap samurai drama or Katori Shingo milkshake-drinking show is on the telebi is better than listening to insufferable expats drone on about how far it is to the nearest Costgo and how crowded is the new H&M? and anyway they never have pants that don’t ride up their voluminous asscracks, and cheese is so expensive and has anyone else noticed that the Chuo line smells of fish and pee, and Japanese people are sooo racist…

Licensed Analrapist October 29, 2008 at 10:56 pm

Austin, TX: Fado Irish Pub on 4th Street. Special menu and soooo many muslin car bombs!

DangerousLiberal October 30, 2008 at 12:02 am

No Raleigh, NC? I understand why no party in Charlotte (closed and all the jobs moved overseas to Wells Fargo via clipper ship, wagon train over panama, another clipper, etc.) but why not Raleigh? Still plenty of folks making software and pharmaceutals here. Sounds like a good party theme.

palmerdawg October 30, 2008 at 3:52 am

Yeah, i would do Ellen.

do-doot October 30, 2008 at 9:27 am

Phila???? ANYONE?

ignatius_riley October 30, 2008 at 8:54 pm

philly, we can haz party plz? i’d offer, but i literally (and i mean that literally, not in a joe biden figuratively way) moved in three days ago.

tocute2btrue October 30, 2008 at 8:58 pm

Ellen got a big surprise coming, we hate Fags.

PerhapsSo October 31, 2008 at 10:25 am

[re=157257]ignatius_riley[/re]: [re=155761]do-doot[/re]: I’m sure one of the 1.2 million Obama offices in the city will be hosting events. The Fishtown office had many a shindig for the debates.
