I was told by someone who did his doctoral thesis in chemical engineering in WordPerfect, while his wife did hers in math in Word that WordPerfect was way better for this purpose. I just know that I seem to be able to finagle anything I've tried so far in WordPerfect and I will not have Word on my computer.
LaTeX was a word processing software I used in my grad school days. It could handle all the special symbols and equations one uses in physics and astronomy.
LaTeX is still alive and kicking, especially in academia. This semester, every math assignment has to be written up in LaTex. Which takes me forfuckingever.
It is VERY difficult to be "good" and not seek out the means to read ahead, but I WILL remain a good sport and experience this high tension tale as intended. There are too many aspects of this story that remind me more than a little bit of what it's like to live within forty minutes of Coeur d' Alene, ID.
I emailed Rebecca. She replaced the garbled text!
You can read this chapter rendered properly on The Split substack.

Ta, Ellis. Ta, Steve. So curious about what happens next, or should I say NeXt?
For some reason, the billboards are all blank. I feel like I’m missing a chunk of the plot!☹️
Is that possibly related to the hacking?
"Failed to render LaTeX expression — no expression found"
Oh, man ... that brings up memories ...
I'm definitely curious as to what goes where the "Failed to render LaTeX expression — no expression found"s are.
I'm not sure if it's in the story or an error. I suspect it's in the story. LaTeX ... man ... that's *really* old school tech.
I still use it. Makes equations all pretty-like.
Lots of published academic papers are still formatted in LaTeX. And you're right: it doesn't math equations the best by far.

A close second was the long gone Nisus Writer
Not necessarily long gone. I don't use a Mac, so I guess that's why I never heard of it.
I know I was surprised to find they still exist. Won’t switch away from LaTeX now.
OK ... I'm old, but that's not one I've heard of.

Shit shit shit shit shit...

I have no idea what it's doing in the CCSA.
Thank you.

More high tension wire suspense...

At least they're getting closer to the border.
good lord, how many chapters are there
