I also like Beshear for VP, because he managed to win statewide in a very red state, twice, and did it without having to "dial back" on issues like trans rights or abortion. He showed you don't have to be a Joe Manchin and adopt right wing framing on those issues, but instead could re-frame them for a broader audience. This would be an e…

He showed you don't have to be a Joe Manchin and adopt right wing framing on those issues, but instead could re-frame them for a broader audience. This would be an excellent strategy for the fall election, and if successful could lead to a rout for the Democrats--without having to throw any constituency under the bus.
ALSO TOO: The Gen Z kids looooove him. He is their candidate. I know a lot of Dems get very gruff and "who cares what they want, they don't vote anyway!" over young voters, but they are super helpful when it comes to free PR and creating momentum. They also like Harris right now and I feel like we don't want to mess that up by, you know, picking someone who has encouraged free speech suppression and violence against college students.
I think he's super charming and such an excellent choice. VPs are supposed to be an attack dog and Kamala needs that more than anyone given who she's up against (and right now we are better off with their big criticism being "she laughs a lot!," because it's going absolutely nowhere and just makes her seem super cheerful and fun) — and he's quick-witted and he's got burns, but is able to deliver them while still being all sweetness and light.
Yep--I forget the stats but there are millions of new voters who just turned of age since 2020, and Harris/Beshear (who both look young, younger than they are) have a huge opportunity to appeal to them. The "happy warrior" thing is driving up energy right now, and solid attacks on Trump and his record (people, try to remember how he left things in 2020!) can lock those voters in and get them voting.
He wasn't running against Bevin in his second election and he won. He got us through covid despite the idiots and people appreciated that. And he's just a damn good, decent guy, a very good governor, and he speaks about his faith (which I wish all politicians would knock the fuck off, but it really helps here) openly and what it "calls" him to do. That's a message the sister-fuckers who go to church for an hour Sundays and hate everyone else 24/6/311 love to hear.
He seems like the best bet from what I see so far. Also, it's superficial, but he's attractive and young-looking, complementing Harris, and the two present a huge contrast to the weird looking Trump and Vance. That counts for a lot (it shouldn't, but it does).

Beshear benefitted from the fact Matt Bevin is such an awful human being that even Kentucky Republicans hated his guts.
Also too Bevin got elected with like 17% of the vote so his attempting to govern like he had a mandate was just stupid.

It helped, but Kentucky is VERY red. Republicans often win statewide by bigger margins than in Alabama. And he beat Cameron soundly too.
It helps to give off moderate "vibes" even if you're selling regular liberal policy.
Also doesn't have a greedy AF daughter as CEO of a Pharma company.
who does?
Some West Virginian
