It should also be noted that the economists on the President's Council of Economic Advisors who Biden relied on to bring the country out of Covid - & get it not only working but booming - included Cecilia Rouse & her lieutenants Jared Bernstein and Heather Boushey. You may not know their names, but they deserve a lot of credit.

After the 2007 financial crisis, Obama relied on the advice of the corrupt fool Larry Summers & his gang of ex-Goldman and ex-Citi insiders. Their prescription (unsurprisingly) was to bail out Wall Street first & then let regular people recover in its wake. Guess what? They didn't. Cecilia & Co realized an obvious thing - the US is a consumer economy which works because people buy stuff (often compulsively). Their prescription was to relieve debt on regular people & get money into their hands to buy stuff with, and to let Wall Street recover as things got up and running. Guess what? It worked.

So thanks Joe, thanks Kamala, thanks Ceci, fuck Larry Summers (Jeffrey Epstein's pal), fuck Wall Street Republicans and

FUCK TRUMP !!!

I am impresesed by your knowledge. Thank you. I think one of Obama's biggest missteps was relying on Summers who was obviously pushing the usual trickle down theory.

I'm luckier than I am smart. Ceci's a friend. We used to drive carpool together when our kids were in grammar school. Also, my ex wife is an attorney with an economics background who worked for DOJ's Antitrust Division. With insight from women like them, even an idiot like me can understand what's going on.

Folks love their Obama, but I hated his association with Larry Summers. Glad Biden dumped him.

Cecilia was on Obama's Council too. In the interest of having a "balanced view" (a/k/a economic "both sides"er-ism), he appointed a Council consisting of half Wall Street/Goldman people (the Summers camp) and half academics (Ceci was from the Princeton School of Economics). Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner was a Summers protégé, so that's the half that Obama took recommendations from. Obama was well intentioned, but he allowed himself to get played. Cecilia knew VP Biden at the time & said that he despised Larry Summers & his crew. As a result, he didn't appoint any of them to his own Council. He went with the incredibly smart Black woman instead, & the result was that our asses all got saved. Viola.

Larry Summers started out as a coat-holder to Sandy Weill when he ran Citibank. Let's all remember that Sandy convinced Clinton to get the Glass-Steagal Act repealed (with disastrous consequences) because he wanted Citi to acquire Travelers Insurance - which would've been illegal under the Act. Many people loved them some Clinton too. Not me. Neither of them. Republicans in Democrats clothing. Clinton was wilier than Obama. He didn't let himself get played. He knew what he was doing, knew that it was wrong & did it anyway to get himself a second term (with the help of Wall Street campaign contributions). Fuck Clinton too.

Never loved Obama. He was cool. He was funny. He was charming. He was Reagan light. Even his signature healthcare reform was a heritage foundation proposal from the 90's which is why it's a bandaid at best that addresses access but doesn't address the cost of access to healthcare.

He was just a tad too pragmatic. That said, ACA is better than nothin'.

Yes it is. But it could've been more. Pelosi wanted to include a "public option" in the bill, but Hillary (who was Secretary of State & shouldn't have had any input), lobbied Obama to take it out on the theory that it'd be easier to pass. Faulty logic. The Democrats had the votes in both houses of Congress then. Hillary just wanted to bank a favor with the insurance industry to cash in when it came her turn to run. Pelosi never trusted Hillary. I never did either. But Obama was president, so he gets credit for both passing the ACA and watering it down.

Oh I know. I was extremely pissed when the Obama team came out of the gate by taking a public option off the table. I don't know any of the back story but I'm sure there is a book on it.

"FUCK TRUMP !!!"? Noooo! It's a horrible thought. Even a pro like Stormy was thinking, while in the middle of it, "what have I gotten myself into now?".

Stormy was thinking that before the act. Wasn't her idea, he didn't care, she was in survivor mode.

She's also better spoken than he is... Though that's a rather low bar.
