And he's gpong to take down all those bird and whale killing windmills at the end of his golf course as soon as a big, beautiful coal plant is in place and burning beautiful, clean coal, right?
Jesus, renewable energy was a debate topic when I was in high school. In the fucking '80s. There was really no argument against them then, even when they were nowhere near as efficient as they are now, although cost/efficiency probably were the main arguments made.
Even back then we had the good sense to know that using less fossil fuels was a plus, before George Soros paid us all to think that climate change exists.
Shit, I heard NPR talking about an African country that meets all of its energy needs pretty much with geothermal and has enough left over to sell to neighboring countries. Can't get much cheaper or greener than that.
Ever since Bobby Murray went to the great coal mine in the sky, there's nobody left whose heart and soul are really into leading the coal/climate change denial business that much anymore. Coal will always work, that's why it's been popular for a million years, it will continue to work. At a small scale only where needed is the short term goal. Dok's right, nobody's building any Coal plants.
Ta, Dok. Grooming miners is brilliant. That Thing in the Offal Office (or more likely Merde-a-Loco) doesn't understand how ANYTHING works, and doesn't care to learn.
He probably thinks that was the golden age of his family. “I got a nice house, plenty of pretty (cat synonym), and best of all, they earn money for ME, and I don't have to lift a finger! Hurray!”
Well, killing us with miasma is in a sense cheaper.
Ahhh there was Hillary Clinton being right in there and she got punched in the face just like the rest of us. 2016 was an inflection point for a lot of things and we really missed out.
"That’s because coal is dirty, inefficient, and far more expensive than fossil gas"
All reasons that the Fulvous Fuckwad has gone all-in on coal production. Personally, I don't get why coal became a (pardon the pun) dirty word; there is no conclusive evidence that coal has a direct link to Colo-Rectal Cancer or ingrown toenails after all. Plus, we *need* coal for our country's security:
> "US President Donald Trump has urged the Export-Import Bank of the United States (US Exim) to slash red tape and boost financing for the country’s coal industry, signalling [sic] a dramatic departure in White House energy policy.
Also, it's a proven fact that alternative, clean energy will never be produced to the degree that will satisfy our soon-to-be AI overlords.
(* Isn't it interesting how everything extralegal, illegal, and/or unconstitutional the Amber Ardipithecus ramidus is trying to force down the country's gullet is being done in the name of national security?)

"But in Trump’s weird delusions, coal didn’t simply lose in the market, it was murdered by mean liberals who regulated it out of business."
Of course it's all the libs' fault; they are the most vocal critics in support of the bogus and disproven Climate Change hoax.

"granting new coal leases on public lands, and creates a special exemption for coal mining from the National Environmental Policy Act"
Really, why should the national forests have all the fun:
> "The United States has announced sweeping changes to encourage more logging in the country's national forests. A new emergency order requires rolling back environmental protections on almost 60% of the national forests, more than 112 million acres of land mostly in the west.

Well, that's one way to prevent forest fires. I mean, if there are no forests, they can't burn.
That has been part of the Fulvous Fuckwad's thinking (thinking?):
> "Under Rollins’ direction and following an earlier executive order signed by President Donald Trump, the U.S. Forest Service would carry out the plan that designates 67 million acres of national forest lands as high or very high wildfire risk, classifies another 79 million acres as being in a state of declining forest health, and labels 34 million acres as at risk of wildfire, insects, and disease. All told, the declaration encompasses some 59 percent of Forest Service lands." https://grist.org/wildfires/logging-doesnt-prevent-wildfires-but-trump-is-trying-anyway/
"coal didn’t simply lose in the market, it was murdered by mean liberals who regulated it out of business. That’s demonstrably not true: It was primarily due to economics, and only partly to regulations."
What? How could someone who's doing such *amazing* things with tariffs have a poor understanding of economics??
I guess we "mean liberals" convinced the railroads to switch from steam to diesel for the lulz? Just like we got rid of all the coal-fired furnaces? (No great loss- cf. "A Christmas Story")
You know, I'm honestly a little grumpy with myself that I didn't also point out that while Trump has adopted the phrase "beautiful clean coal," he isn't even talking about the never-successful attempt to come up with a process that would capture all or most of the carbon and other pollutants. The pilot projects all failed.
After the government and industry blew hundreds of millions on the attempt, the technology never came together. But Trump latched onto the name, even though he's only talking about plain old dirty coal. I assume most of us already knew that, but I meant to make a note of it in the article.
Funny how he did that by reversing the meaning of "fake news," too.

It's surprising he hasn't ordered the Navy to revert to coal, or at least for emergency power. Oops! They started phasing out coal over a century ago.
Oh well, he could always order auto manufacturers to produce yuuuge SUVs and pickups.
The Law of Trump Emergencies: 1. Declare an "Emergency." 2. Create emergency.

“It’s really about … turning back the clock” He hasn’t moved past the 80’s
1880's?
Every day you have to wonder what the hell is the matter with the Rotting Mango?

He’s permanently stuck in the late 19th century.
Isn't that when his German immigrant grandfather was running a whorehouse in the Yukon. You know, in Canada?
He probably thinks that was the golden age of his family. “I got a nice house, plenty of pretty (cat synonym), and best of all, they earn money for ME, and I don't have to lift a finger! Hurray!”
And once again - to the surprise of no one - the GOP pulls off the mask and reveals themsevles to be utter hypocrites.
"State's Rights!" they'll bleat*
*except for things we don't like like abortion or saving the planet
