Laura Loomer is a vile person because of what she says and how she treats other human beings. Whether you think she's attractive or not is fucking beside the point. It's shallow and reduces women to objects.
If you would be pissed off seeing a wingnut taking what you just typed about Laura Loomer and applying it to AOC or to Hillary Clinton or *any of the women commenting here,* then delete your comment and make a joke about her vile brain and what comes from it.
While Loomer is truly the worst of the worst MAGA, I don’t want to wade through a bunch of septic bile about her.
That said, if people are interested in the ‘MAGA aesthetics 2025 edition’ and why it clashes so hard with normie values: eg exaggerated surgery, bad suits, gold leaf, and AI art - you might be interested in these links:
Can I say that her face matches her principles? She chose both and she chose badly. I don't think mocking people for their choices is mocking their looks, even if the choice you're mocking is a choice they made about their looks.
So I know I crossed the line and my comment was deleted, I have no desire to challenge that or the rules.
The following question however is in my mind.
Assuming it is not a question of cultural appropriation, is it ok to criticize someone with a facial tattoo, or any tattoo?
I ask, because what if there is a spectrum, where one point on the spectrum is a gang tattoo, and another point on that spectrum is drastic plastic surgery to fit an expected look. We know cultural pressures on appearance exist at the very general scale, is it a stretch to think there is a very real pressure to have Mar-a-lago face?
I offer no answer on how any rule could change, in fact I don't think they should. But maybe we should have a post and flurry of non-comments about the pressures to conform in appearance within the high levels of MAGA. Assuming there's someone ready to spend a day banhammering everyone multiple times.
*raises hand* Guilty. And there was nothing high-minded about it. I'm just so sick of feeling helpless while watching her (and the rest of them) just fucking hurt anyone and everyone they want to with impunity.
I take your point Dok and do try to take the house rules to heart. That said, I do wonder about esthetic choices in service of conveying socio-economic or political power.
To my mind there is a vast difference between mocking someone for how they were born and mocking someone for making dubious esthetic decisions in service of asserting power. Perhaps this is shallow of me.
But I have a hair trigger for cultural assertions of dominance.
You make an interesting point regarding her apparent pursuit of hyper-femininity and smoothed youth and whiteness (if I'm not straying too far from your intent).
I would never criticize someone for the body and face they were born with. But Loomer made a conscious choice to look the way she does, undergoing expensive and painful surgery to change her appearance for the worse. Maybe I shouldn't judge her opinions on beauty, but it's hard not to. Especially when she is so vile it looks like it's oozing out of her pores.
There is, however, ingrained in our Holy Books, Novels, Franchise Film Series, and Customs the Steadfast Expectation that Evil People do Evil AND, therefore, Look Evil.
You mentioned them as though they were all the sources that matter. They seemed to be your choices; if they're not, I don't see your critique, just an excuse.
You seem a pretty critical thinker — is it that difficult to work out? Do you prefer more guidance? Ironcast meanings and uniform comprehension? Universality in all things said and unsaid? If so, then I’m not your guy.

My God.
Suddenly my protest sign design looks like... fine art. Although hard to read if you're not keeping up with news...
I don't know how we survived without your scolding.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder is no joke.

Or I should ease up on the supportive chemicals.
I think Laura looks fine. Certainly nothing we need to be commenting about.

Her looks are the eleventy billionth thing wrong with her compared to what has come out of her mouth/keyboard
Yes, but can she pass a Voight-Kampff test?
Or a Mein Kampf test...
Just don't ask her about her mother, and you'll be fine.

"Well, we did do the nose."

Yeah well, consider your sources.
(That's exactly the point)
And mine, from a critical perspective.
You should have written:
"Yeah well, consider THE sources." They are not mine.
You mentioned them as though they were all the sources that matter. They seemed to be your choices; if they're not, I don't see your critique, just an excuse.
So sorry. I did not know you'd be unable to notice cultural bias in any of these categories.
You profferred them with no indication of criticism. We may speak different languages of cultural analysis.
You seem a pretty critical thinker — is it that difficult to work out? Do you prefer more guidance? Ironcast meanings and uniform comprehension? Universality in all things said and unsaid? If so, then I’m not your guy.
Yeah no thanks, especially with the universality (which was the original problem, actually), but you can claim the last word anyway.
If Trump can say that the firings had nothing to do with her, then I feel empowered to say that I have had nothing but gracious thoughts about her.
Ahem... gracious thoughts AND prayers.

How did you get a picture of my second grade teacher-nun?
12 years of catholic school here! I've seen some things.
Amen, sister!
Christ. Sometimes I'm glad I have to go out in the afternoons.
It's beyond my last nerve how many times we have to say this.
And they say the night shift is bad! Whadda nerve.
😁
I'm fortunate (?) to straddle both daytime and night shifts.
Is it possible to find normal looking pictures of her or do you post these and tell us not to say anything on purpose?
that's what she chose to look like.
