If you want a special treat to accompany your viewing either before or after, the British Film Institute book on "The Birds" by Camille Paglia (yes, THAT Camille Paglia) is one of the best in the whole series.

I was traumatized by Billy Graham at about that age. I had nightmares after stumbling upon one of his rallies on a b&w TV.
