Hello and welcome to your official Wonkette Women’s March (and adjacent marches!) live bloog and open thread type thing! Unlike last year, we’ve got a whole weekend full of marches, with some marches happening today (like in Chicago! I am not there, because someone’s gotta (wo)man the ship here, but Dom will be!) and some marches happening tomorrow (like the big one in Vegas!).

Across the United States and the world, women, men and others are protesting against the racist, xenophobic, sexist garbage fire that is Donald Trump and his entire administration in a glorious show of solidarity and clever signage.

We’ll be adding pics, tweets and updates here throughout the weekend — so if you happen to attend one and take some really good photos, send them to me at robyn@wonkette.com, or just leave them in the comments! If you’re not sure where your march is, click here and they oughta tell you!

We all had a great time last year, and this one should be just as awesome! YAY WOMEN!

1:30 These are just some really good signs!

2:50 MOAR PICS!

This is so cute! From Wonkette Operative Heidi in Milwaukee.

And my friends down at the Chicago march have sent some great pics as well!

And our douchebag “president” tweeted something douchey. Surprise!

Dom is taking over so Robyn can get a break!

Initial reports are coming in from cities across the country. Chicago’s organizers estimate 300,000, a surprising increase over last years march considering organizers had put out a call for support just a few weeks ago. Officials in LA are estimating around 350,000, although organizers are claiming WAY more than that. Similar scenes unfolded on the East Coast, with both New York and DC giving preliminary estimates in the hundreds of thousands. Good job, everyone.

OK, enough boring news, here’s some of my pretty pictures from the Chicago march!

And here’s some pictures from Editrix marching out in Missoula, MT!

Know that every footstep in every march is a boot to that bombastic bullshitter’s balls.

    With votes.

    • (((fka_donnie_d))), SOB

And his secret policemen’s balls, too

      • Beelzebubba

The Secret Policemen’s Ball is a bust.

We had temps in the teens and snow until today, it is sunny and mild and everything is looking great.

two assignments in my state government and political class are papers on attending a political event, including rallies and protests. I think the march/rally in my town would make a great topic for the first one!

(Iz going to make for long week though – sunday event, monday work when I normally don’t, the rest of the week as normal etc etc).

    • Paul

Dude, this is a golden opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. Write one paper and hand it in to each class. Use enough buzz words from each class and it should work. I was able to do that a few times in college.

      • Dept. of Space Tacos

heh, no, it’s two events for two classes. (although my agency will have volunteers there, so I can knock out two birds with that!)

      • Dept. of Space Tacos

gah, I meant two events for one class.

        • Paul

As Emily Litella would say ” Oh that’s different. Never mind.”

Now I know why Brooks is brought up.

Professor X blames this state of affairs on what he calls “postmodern modes of thought,” and on the fact that there are more women teaching in college, which has had “a feminizing effect on the collective unconscious of faculty thought.” -New Yorker quote.

        • Bill Diaz

‘Feminization’ is a common complaint of the ignorant right wing. You can be the first person to survive being awarded the Medal of Honor since Vietnam and be considered to have ‘feminized’ the award because you did it by saving lives, not killing anyone.

SSG Salvatore Guinta, 82nd ABN was that man, look it up, it makes me sick. Also, around that same time the Talibangelical faction of the shit show we now suffer was declaring Vladimir Putin the ‘Best Christian Leader’.

This pot has been boiling for a while.

          2/505 PIR, H-Minus
          Have a great day!

          • Beelzebubba

A woman earning a Medal of Honor would “feminize” it, as far as these knuckle-draggers are concerned. Fuck ’em. People aren’t listening to their shit any more, which is why they’re cranking up the volume.

          • CindyinEncinitas

So I should take the cute little lace border I made off my medal?

        • Daniel

Does anyone ever ask them what “feminization” means and why it’s bad, or is it another thing the right gets to say without retort that is treated like it’s both meaningful and important?

          • Beelzebubba

Nah – “Empty Slogans ‘R Us” describes them perfectly.
Same way “social justice warrior” is a slur in their lingo, without any of them being able to explain what’s wrong with social justice. Or with being elite, or progressive.

          • Trump’s Potemkin Village

In their own language, these guys seems to be “Easily triggered, in need of a participation trophy and seeking a safe space.”

For the love of god, give the title and author of this monstrosity so I know what “institution” of “higher” “learning” to avoid

      • Skwerl the Taco Hunter

They are actually citing him as a example of someone who does not know what they are talking about.

        Murders halted — for now.

        • (((fka_donnie_d))), SOB

          o…. phew

        • (((fka_donnie_d))), SOB

I still want to know who it is, so I can now pay positive attention

    • DrBigHead

Well, that depends. If they cite David Brooks as an example of a sniveling little shit with a platform disproportionate to his ability, then that’s OK. If, on the other hand, he is cited as a legitimate intellectual, then the author(s) needs to be fired. Tenure (if applicable) be damned.

Wasn’t Mexico supposed to pay for the wall? I seem to remember something about Mexico paying for the wall. Perhaps the dipshit in cheif can write one of his big boy executive orders and they will do it.

    • Magma Cardhole jesterpunk

He is going to make New Mexico pay for it since Mexico told him to eat a dick.

      • Everrett Fanuelli

        Fuck that! We broke!

        • Magma Cardhole jesterpunk

But he is a master negotiator, so when he is done with the negotiations New Mexico will have a lot of money.

      • Daniel

I looked, you know there was it in the it was news, Fox News, very good- you hear that express, that word “good news”, that’s I believe from, where it comes from. It’s where, Fox, it’s good, good news. The best actually. They said and you know I got some little guys, the best guys, Harvard, Yale also, some from Oxnard over in the England they have a very good anniversity, Cambridge Analytica too you know that’s how they got the name. So anyway I get these unbelievable guys, such the great best- let me tell you, better than any of them Hillary, who I call I call her “Crooked Hillary” you know I made that? That was me who. And they you know they bing bong bing bong bing in the computers, turns out, turns out It’s True! I said, Mike, you know? And he said also that it was he couldn’t also believe it, it was very hard to take, what and it was what Obama he had what done. I said “New Mexico?” Like I couldn’t you know. “Why have they?” Made a new? And Miller said, he told me “globalists”. Well, I said and I mean. It. Taking this is what the was when it. The country this was Obama, all Obama and also Crooked Hillary. I’m going to take it back, bigly, New Mexico will be American believe me, it won’t be this politically correct this New Mexico any more, but a big beautiful New American. Believe me.

        • Magma Cardhole jesterpunk

In the catalogue of brain malfunctions and epistemological disintegration that was the WSJ interview he claimed Mexico would pay, and that there were at least ten ways this could happen, which he could list. Then he failed to list any of them.
He appears to think, though, that scrapping NAFTA will mean Mexico has paid.

      • Magma Cardhole jesterpunk

That is the most annoying thing, the media just lets him babble on and doesnt call him out on anything and doesnt ask for details.

        • Christopher Story

But I also remember the John Dickerson interview where he did just that and Trump got annoyed, ended his interview, and then pretended to do paperwork. This is what we’re dealing with.

        • Beelzebubba

They try sometimes, but all they get is more word salad.

I just got home from the march in Richmond, VA. Our new governor was there, as were at least a thousand others. I’m bad at figuring out crowd sizes but we stretched up and down both sides of a mile-long stretch of street, so. It was awesome, and I saw no trumpians whatsoever.

    • Yay, Richmond!

Im too sick to make it today, but I was there last year when the 802 did us proud and more than 10% of the state showed up at the capitol for the Women’s Day festivities. We shut down the highway, filled every parking space and stood up to be counted.

On days like this I miss my kids, one of the ‘family activities’ was marches etc. Slutwalks, gay pride, human rights were family outings. You dont change the world by watching it on TV.

    Have a great day!

OT: grrrrrr (also, I’m almost certain a member of this group is a buddy of non-commentor PunkInDrublic

TUCSON, Arizona – A humanitarian-aid group is claiming that water jugs placed near the United States-Mexico border in southern Arizona were destroyed by U.S. Border Patrol agents.

The Tucson-based group, No More Deaths, released a video Wednesday that showed Border Patrol agents dumping and kicking water jugs. No More Deaths said its workers placed over 31,600 1-gallon water jugs for border crossers from 2012 to 2015. The group said more than 3,000 of the those jugs were destroyed by Border Patrol agents.

The video is part of a three-part series being conducted by the group, that aims to “share our response to the to the current crisis of death and disappearance on the U.S.-Mexico border”. No More Deaths began documenting its self-proclaimed lifesaving work one year ago and claims that the remains of 151 migrants were found in Arizona, since filming began.

    https://youtu.be/eqaslbj5Th8

No More Deaths said Border Patrol agents should face disciplinary actions for destroying aid that is supplied for border crossers.

“We demand an immediate end to the destruction or removal of water, food, blankets and any other humanitarian-aid supplies left for border crossers,” A statement in the group’s release said. “We also demand an immediate end to any interference with humanitarian-aid efforts.”

The group said its focusing efforts on making a policy that “formally prohibits the destruction of humanitarian-aid supplies and establishes that it be subject to disciplinary action.”

    • Beelzebubba

Helping people die of thirst – Republican values in action.
In true Trumpian style, the Border Patrol is denying what everybody is seeing.
And the Trumpanzees go along with it, because they’re fucking idiots.

      • Christopher Story

No, they are conscientiously cruel. They celebrate these actions and the subesquent deaths because “AMERICA FIRST!!1! and MAGA.” They both only acknowledge this behavior, they encourage it. Dead immigrants are their fetish.

        • Dept. of Space Tacos

I genuinely try to see other people’s arguments, no matter how stupid.

Their idea probably is, “if we don’t make supplies available, people won’t come.”

This is a stupid argument. (And yes, there’s probably a good bit of racism and/or plain cruelty in this too).

          • Beelzebubba

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/01/20/report-vegas-shooter-bought-55-guns-1-year/1050734001/

The gunman in the Las Vegas shooting that killed 58 people and wounded 489 others last October had purchased at least 55 guns in the prior 12 months, according to a report released Friday out of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Stephen Paddock, the 64-year-old who police believe acted alone in the shooting, had purchased 29 firearms between 1982 and 2016, according to the report, but then bought nearly twice that many between October 2016 and September 2017, according to the report. Most were rifles in various calibers, along with more than 100 firearm related items purchased through a variety of retailers.

FFS, get your shit together and pass something that goes until the end of the year. Or I suppose it would be the end of the fiscal year which will screw up mid-terms. Well that is coming either way so do something!
OT-yes, it was funny when the idiot said babbies shouldn’t be born at 9 months but for once he did mis-speak so can we have a good laugh then let it go? He says many more things that he actually means that are terrible.

    • I understand the sentiment. However, the piece as written smacks of stupidity. They don’t consider my personal feelings so therefore I won’t stand and be counted. Her disappointment comes across as just what she claims it is not: She was not personally noticed as much as she thought she should be. I doubt that was her intent so benefit of the doubt, but it is how it is coming off to me.

    • suziq

Didn’t read the whole thing, but seems to me a women’s march is a woman thing, not a black thing. YES, trump is a racist. Why would white women go yay for the African American part instead of woman part? I support BLM fully. That was not a Black Lives Matter rally. Did not get to the end so I hope nobody said anything negative to her but fellow black women gave her support for both things and white women who had the “women” part in common were supportive of that part. I think she is a bit too sensitive about it. But it is not up to me to tell her how she should feel so I am sorry she is missing out this year but it is up to her.

    • Zyxomma

She should have marched in NYC. Lots and lots of SJWs.

Aw Holland you are so sweet. In Holland every parent receives a quarterly payment of 200 euros to help provide for our kid no matter how much money you make. these 800 euros per annum were transferred to an account we closed after our divorce. I just received a lovely letter that they tried to pay us this money but that it could not be done since the account no longer existed. If we could please call them to make sure we would get the 800 euros.

one of the regional fishwraps ran a “let’s talk to trump voters” story today and it was pretty ok, actually. it was a bunch of cranky white dudes aged 60-75, who own businesses that are struggling for various reasons, and meet up at the diner for a bitching session after golf on saturdays. the piece wasn’t unfair, but it wasn’t particularly sympathetic. it’s the only one of these so far that i haven’t wanted to hurl into the void.

jesus christ (not to be ghoulish, but what’s the chances on how many of these are children whose parents decided not to get hte child the flu shot cause it’s poison. DEADLY POISON!)

The number of children who have died from the flu is now up to 30 as public health officials attempt to manage a busy flu season.

Last week, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 20 pediatric deaths as a result of the flu, which is considered widespread in 49 states and Puerto Rico.

      • The Very Stable Librarian

        Glad you’re on the mend.

    • natoslug

My flu shot this year was great. It only gave me the flu for 5 days. Much more effective than last year’s flu shot, which only got me sick for 3-4 days.

      • Dept. of Space Tacos

        (eyeroll).

Perhaps you just got the flu?

(the shot is far from perfect, but as said in that story, it’s your best chance to not get the flu.)

        • natoslug

Could be. This is the fourth year in a row that I’ve received the shot, and also the fourth year in a row that I ended up with a fever and aches within a few hours of the vaccine. Of course, to get the shot, I go to my doctor’s office, which, since this is Humboldt County, is often teeming with lots of sick homeless people. Next year, maybe I’ll try to track down a less infectious location to get shot up. Er, get the shot.

          • nightmoth

My doc’s office was also full of sick people so I got mine at Kroger’s pharmacy.

          • Beelzebubba

The shot is actually an attenuated virus, and your body does have to fight it off (that’s how you get the antibodies). Some people do get flu symptoms as a result… but it’s not actually influenza. The good news is that you know for sure that it’s working.

          • Dept. of Space Tacos

          • natoslug

            Yep. Open Door.

      • this made me snicker. I know I know, more likely it was just another strain that got you, after going to a public place where likely people were already sick, but still

        • natoslug

But I got the shot at my doctor’s office! There would be nobody sick there. Sure, the majority of their patients are low income or homeless, and only get seen when they absolutely have to, and the waiting room often looks like a set for Z-Nation . . .

          • SNORK.
Most pharmacies do the flu shots now (lots of olds get them there) and though not a doc’s office or anything you can at least walk away from anyone sniffling and not be seated in the office with em XD I am generally not hep on that sort of thing but for this one instance it may be to your benefit to check that out

          • Phried Ω

I always get mine in Sep. or Oct. when nobody’s sick. It takes 7 to 10 days to work anyway.

          • Dept. of Space Tacos

is good idea – i think i dithered till December, but I generally have an excellent immune system (which is odd becauase I take crap care of myself).

At worst I get one cold a year. My last was Feb of 2016 I think (and I blame that on my Prof and either his kids or his frequent interactions with the jailed defendants he represents. Jails – the perfect breeding ground for all sorts of communicable conditions. dense population, close quarters, little to no fresh air.)

      • Mentally Stable Ron

I understand that if you get the flu after getting the flu shot that it’s mostly likely because you were getting it anyway. Seems it takes around 7-10 days for the shot to become active, so somewhere in there you were prolly already exposed.

    • Rags

Sadly, this year’s shot is pretty ineffective against the current strain, so the increased deaths may reflect that, not anti-vax parents.

      • Dept. of Space Tacos

true, I may have been overly harsh there. The article also says that this strain seems to particularly hurt children and older peope.

Sometimes herd immunity is necessary to rely on if you’re low on cash/don’t have insurance/don’t have a pediatrician, but even in those cases it works best if the adults in your house get the flu shot & you’re very careful about exposure.

Fun fact: this week, federal agencies prepared for such a possibility for the fourth time in Donald Trump’s first year in office. There was an Estonian-born conductor named Ernö Rapée (1891-1945) who turns up on a lot of very old radio airchecks, mostly involving classical pops and such. In America, the accents sometimes appeared and sometimes not. He eventually became the music director at the Radio City Music Hall.

So the defendant’s name probably did start out with an accent.

      • Mehmeisterjr

BTW – Wanna bet I can’t get from Ernö Rapée to a Monty Python reference in one step?

OK. Mr. Rapée wrote the melody to the song Charmaine which accompanies the seduced milkman sketch.

As far as the government shutdown goes, there is an old saying “A man works from sunup to sundown, but a woman’s work is never done.” Shutdowns don’t mean much to working wives and mothers, as they still have plenty of unpaid work to do at home.

  • Dept. of Space Tacos

given marches are happening on today and sunday, maybe they should call it women’s weekend.

Or does removing march take some of the wind out of the sails?

OK. I’ve been a wee bit on the angry side for a few days. Best not to comment while angry.

On an unrelated note, I saw your issues with the job/resume. Talk to the hiring manager. In person. Find out what they are looking for in a resume. Government jobs resumes, state or federal, must have the right keywords or they don;t get looked at.

It’s not cheating and it’s not illegal to do that. Then resubmit your resume if the job is still open.

          • Dept. of Space Tacos

good idea – mom said the same thing…I think it’s just cause it’s not clean and obviosus and 100% on point – “3 years as [the EXACT same position at title] with [comparable official/judge/lawyer].”

          • shivaskeeper

Talk to the hiring manager. All you may need to do it cut and paste the job description as what you did for three years. It’s usually something like that.

          • Zyxomma

I was unaware until two years ago that hiring managers NEVER see resumes until after they’re first “approved” by software.

I found this out accidentally. I was SO furious at R attacks on Planned Parenthood that I looked to see whether they were hiring. The only non-medical job available at the time was in HR, and it said something like “Must be familiar with PeopleSoft.” I figured out that that was a piece of software. Keywords, Tacos.

  • 🍁 Møøse Fuddlin’ Girl Guide 🍁

I can’t go to any marches because I don’t drive, I get panicky in crowds (actually, I get panicky going out of the house at all), and I don’t really come from a home environment where going down to the demonstration to get one’s fair share of abuse is viewed favorably in the first place. But I did my own little bit of resistance when I told macho brother to STFU about women’s clothes being mitigating circumstances for sexual assault (seriously???), and also too that unwelcome touching of any part of the body is unacceptable, period.

He tried to make it a thing of “ooh, big deal, you got tapped on the hip, that’s not the same as grabbing someone’s tits” to which I replied, “that’s right, I don’t care what part of the body it is, you keep your hands to yourself.” That it’s one thing if you accidentally brush up against someone, but you apologize nonetheless. If someone deliberately invade another’s space, let alone makes unwanted physical contact on any area of the person, then that’s something that needs to be addressed with the, well, space invader and not the one being invaded.

I didn’t want to get into a whole big argument, because he’s got a really bad viral infection and has been coughing up a storm, so I didn’t want to make him even sicker. But I let him know in no uncertain terms that the only person culpable for harassment or assault is the harasser or assaulter. And that just because there is a “spectrum of behavior” doesn’t mean that 1) “less bad” is not bad at all, or that 2) what’s no big deal for one person won’t be traumatizing for someone else.

    He’ll get it eventually.

I guess they’re all happy about how I handled Cryin’ Chuck Schumer. He’ll come crawling back, you’ll see. You’ll see. We’ll get the budget passed, everything will be humming again – the Dow is going to go to 36,000! Mark my words, America is going to be great again. Just watch me…just watch…” He trails off, muttering into his bowl of ice cream.

John Kelly steps quietly out of the office and closes the door. “Okay, it worked. Faking the news feed and photoshopping the signs was a brilliant idea. Now we just have to keep him away from the real news stations for a few days and we’re golden.”

If Dick Sphincter dares to shit-disturb any of these events, can we just deport him to his all-white ethnostate paradise in Siberia already?

White supremacists and misogynists in the “alt-right” target feminists over the Women’s March

Kelsey Goldberg, an organizer with Democratic Socialists of America’s Los Angeles chapter and a feminist activist, told Newsweek men and women should be standing up against what is happening with the alt-right movement nationwide. “The rise of fascism in America affects female activists more than it does men. It affects women of color most of all,” she said. “What women activists need in times like these is a support system from our male colleagues.”

Goldberg referred to a Newsweek article about some members of the alt-right targeting children for recruitment and said people should be focusing on ways to keep young boys from becoming too isolated and possibly falling victim to an ideology of hate. “Donald Trump didn’t invent these people,” she said regarding the far-right. “Merely impeaching him won’t get rid of this problem.”

That’s what feminism is. The Cernovich kind of assholes don’t fucking get it because they don’t want to get it. Feminism guides boys and men that they shouldn’t have to bottle it up inside and shouldn’t be viewed as “weak” for expressing emotion in a healthy, rather than aggressive, way. Anyone who says feminism doesn’t care about boys’ and men’s mental health is ignorant. Everyone benefits when toxic masculinity is diffused in favor of prosocial and empathetic approaches to interaction and emotional well-being in daily life. It’s the Predditor types who accuse feminists of trying to turn boys and men into “weak cucks.” They’re the ones who are fomenting sickness. Not the other way around.

The Women’s March is on now in Nebraska (all over in Central Time Zone). Three places: Omaha, Lincoln, and Loup City (population 1000).

Last year in Loup City the march turned out about 400 people.

  • Got outta work around 8AM and headed down to my volunteer gig in Manhattan. On the subway, a bunch of pink hats boarded the train and we started shooting the breeze. They were from Westchester, close to my workplace. A couple of them had friends in common with me. The mood was good- people laughing and chatting, but a real ‘we’re here to kick ass’ undercurrent.

West Side of Manhattan was packed. I left my volunteer gig are doing 12:30, and the streets were full of marchers. Had to run the length of 4 subway cars to be able to squeeze into the train at 59th St. Joked with some marchers about Vulgarmort rueing the day he was inaugurated, and one of them quipped, “He pissed off the girls.” Train damn near cleared out at 72nd St and I told my new buddies, “Give him hell!”

Gotta be back at work at 5PM. ZZZZZZZZ… I would have liked to have stuck around Manhattan longer, but time was tight and I was lugging around a gym bag laden with a sweaty double-thick judogi which weighs a ton, and I didn’t want to get probed by NYPD because I looked suspicious.

It was another beautiful day for the 2018 Maui Women’s March. It looked like there were even more people this year than last, and there were almost as many cute dogs as people. A very small group of counter protesters were there for a short time. One guy must have bullhorned the word hate a 100 times (GOD HATES YOU. GOD HATES YOUR HATE. HATE. HATE. HATE.), which I thought said more about him than it did about us. I marched out of love, and Jonny marched right beside me. I’m ready to march into a voting booth.

We had about 9 counter-protesters show up – one of them brought a cardboard image of Trump to swell their numbers, but we weren’t fooled. We waved at them heartily from time to time until they left – they only had enough stamina to stand out there for less than an hour. Weak. Sad.

Same 5 assholes from last year, but with a bullhorn this year. Last year, when we were downtown, we ran them off by chanting “where are your women?”. This year? Totally ignored, except by the cops, who parked next to them and ran their lights. GA is an open carry state, btw.

Just got home from our local march. About 1600+ people showed up, which is less than the 2200 last year but the weather was nasty – 40 degrees and overcast and damp and threatening rain. However, THIS year they let us actually march in the streets, which was tremendous! By 3 pm my toes were frozen, and I kept thinking of the immortal words of Piglet, “How cold my toes, Tiddely-Pom!” They had a great girl band, and a boy band singing a song I had not heard called “I’m A White Man Living in a White Man’s World” which I really liked.

Getting the Santa Rosa rally organized was a bit of a scramble, and we didn’t have time to get a marching permit. But we filled Old Courthouse Square with lots and lots of noisy, enthusiastic people. One of the organizers was an old triathlon buddy, Leslie, and she gave a fiery speech that just blew everybody away. • This guy is tickled pink (so to speak) to see all these people taking to the streets, but I still have some nagging thoughts at the back of my mind. Apologies in advance before I vent a bit.

    1. It’s always nice to see people taking to the streets in peaceful protest, but the real work isn’t done by a parade. Badger your legislators at ALL levels, contribute to the organizations fighting the same fight, and remember to VOTE every election.
    2. If I were marching, I’d feel a bit uncomfortable. The occasional anti-patriarchy signs make it seem as if men aren’t really welcome. Surely the Trump Administration is bad for everyone, not just women. There’s really no way for me to express my apprehension at the apparent exclusion with coming across like an asshole. Shouldn’t men be welcomed openly at these marches, too? Calling them “Women’s Marches”….I don’t know….

    • Jonny On Maui

The occasional anti-patriarchy signs make it seem as if men aren’t really welcome.

I didn’t get that vibe at all today. It’s not that men aren’t welcome, it’s the toxic crap a lot of us were raised with.

    • sgt. jmk of the résistance

We had a good turnout of men at our rally, and they were very, very welcome.

I know you’re not trying to be jerky, and I’m sincerely not trying to be jerky back, but if the “occasional anti-patriarchy signs make it seem as if men aren’t really welcome,” and you think that calling these Women’s Marches is an “apparent exclusion” that doesn’t “openly” welcome men… then please stop, take a deep breath, and recognize that you are getting a tiny glimpse (in what is surely the most welcoming environment possible) of what women have felt all along… for everything.

I went to the Power to the Polls Rally in Atlanta. Rather than have a march, our activists joined together to organize and meet each other. We were covered on the local news also too. There was a small march that happened spontaneously downtown too, but all the cool kids were at the rally.
We had many speakers – Stacey Abrams, a black woman running for governor of GA; Alyssa Milano, who had gotten involved in the Jon Ossoff (GA-06) congressional campaign; and phones call from both Hank Johnson (GA-05 and my congressman) and John Lewis (GA-04) who are stuck in DC for budget voting during sequestor.
