Did the Illuminati get to the police?

In a gift to conspiracy theorists everywhere, police in Las Vegas have revised their timeline of last week’s mass shooting on the Strip, saying that instead of the shooter firing some 200 rounds into a hallway of the Mandalay Bay hotel and injuring a security guard after he’d stopped firing at a crowded country music concert across Las Vegas Boulevard, he’d actually shot the security guard six minutes before he began shooting at the crowd. Police also said the shooter had been staying longer at the hotel than they’d thought, having checked in on September 25, not September 28 as police had initially said.

None of this changes the horror of Stephen Paddock’s having killed 58 people (in addition to himself) and injured hundreds more, and it won’t affect the renewed (and probably futile) attempts to bring some sense to gun laws. But it should provide a field day for conspiracy-mongering loonies who insist the official story can’t be trusted because the Deep State and the Bavarian Illuminati actually staged the whole thing as an excuse to take away American’s guns — or at least their cool “bump stock” toys — just like every other mass shooting was faked to take away all the guns that are never, ever taken away.

In a timeline given last week, investigators had said the shooter had begun firing at the music festival at 10:05 PM local time, and stopped at 10:15 PM. Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said last week that Mandalay Bay security guard Jesus Campos had interrupted the shooting when he was spotted by Paddock in one of the several video cameras he had rigged to view hallways on the 32nd floor, after which Paddock shot through the door of his room and injured Campos at about 10:15. Las Vegas police arrived on the floor and then began evacuating guests; since no more shots were coming from the suite, they took their time to make sure everyone was out before breaking down what was left of the door to Paddock’s suite and entering at 11:20. Paddock had shot himself at some point before police entered the room.

Yesterday, however, Lombardo said that Paddock had actually shot and injured Campos at 9:59 PM, about six minutes before the mass shooting began, and police don’t know why Paddock stopped shooting at 10:15. In the inimitable syntax of a cop giving a briefing, Lombardo said during Monday’s news conference that “Mr. Campos was encountered by the suspect prior to his shooting to the outside world.” Campos, it turns out, hadn’t come upon Paddock’s room because of the sound of gunfire, but had actually been investigating an alarm that had been set off in another room on the same floor when a door was left open. Las Vegas police who arrived to begin searching the hotel shortly after the shooting started didn’t even know that a security guard had been injured until they met Campos on the 32nd floor at 10:18. Lombardo didn’t say whether Campos had told the hotel security department he’d been injured before he was found by the arriving police.

The revised timeline looks like a serious investigative screwup, since presumably the Las Vegas Police had talked to Campos sometime before this weekend, and it seems pretty late in the game to have just figured out that he’d been shot before the massacre began. Same with the date of Paddock’s check-in: Does the hotel keep really crappy records? Seems unlikely, so how did investigators miss three whole days of his stay?

Also, credit where it’s due, even if it’s one of those stopped-clock things. Conspiracy aficionado Laura Loomer, who has claimed that Paddock was a far-left antifa sympathizer with links to ISIS and the Deep State, that the CEO of MGM resorts (which owns the Mandalay Bay) was somehow involved in the plot — as was the MGM Resorts’ union — and who also insists that “FBI” stands for “Federal Bureau of Islam,” actually does appear to have found one real fact about the timeline. Loomer says she has valet and room service records indicating that Paddock had indeed checked into the Mandalay Bay on September 25, three days before the earlier timeline had him there. And she’s been saying it for close to a damn week.

Of course, that doesn’t mean any of Loomer’s other wild claims have a bit of credibility — like her contention that MGM employee contributions were used to fund terrorism!!! But you do have to wonder about the competence of the Las Vegas authorities’ investigation when someone more full of horseshit than Twilight Sparkle on a rolled-oats bender actually has better information on one part of the timelines than the cops. It’s just embarrassing. The file showing when Paddock checked in — was it not IN the COMPUTER?

No doubt those six minutes between Campos getting shot and the beginning of the shooting from the hotel windows is when the ISIS/ Hillary Clinton/ Bilderberg Group death squad overpowered Paddock, killed him, and carried out the shooting, after which they used the three minutes before police reached the floor to vanish, like Ninjas. Fake News troll (but also AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST) Chuck C. Johnson was pushing a fact-free claim that Campos was Paddock’s co-conspirator well before the new timeline; now he’s been reading Loomer’s tweets and is going with “FBI Cover-Up.”

Also, there were more details announced yesterday that are sure to excite the conspiracy-minded:

The sheriff also revealed that Paddock had started drilling a hole next to the door of his suite, but the drilling apparently was not completed, and officials weren’t sure what the hole was for.

Lombardo said investigators had found “some evidence of medications” used by Paddock but declined to give any more information.

A boring ol’ mommyblogger might say Paddock was going to stick a camera through the hole, but then decided it would be easier to attach it to the peephole in the suite’s door, but that’s hardly exciting at all. It probably had some kind of occult Illuminati significance, just like the floor number of the hotel:

And the “evidence of medications”? More proof that we need to stop Prozac before it kills again, obviously, as Michele Fiore — then a member of the Nevada Assembly, now merely a member of the Las Vegas City Council (and surprisingly silent on this horror) — explained just had to be the reason for the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College on October 1, 2015. Which was two years to the day before the Las Vegas massacre. Great Jumpin’ Osiris — you know what this means? Antidepressants study numerology, and that’s how they KILL!

Yeah, the nutters seem to have decided that this is a CIA/FBI/NSA “wetwork” job that got botched, and they’re the ones feeding the marching orders to the County Sheriff (why this county sheriff is being treated by the tinfoil-hat brigade as some sort of patsy is not explained), while the rank-and-file officers are left in the dark. This way, they can still “support the police” while not slamming them for incompetence.

I think it could but you can’t fit it on a bumper sticker or in a tweet so your probably right. To me the time-line illustrates that the cops were outgunned, it seems that they waited until SWAT got to the scene, I don’t blame them for not wanting to die but it illustrates how one civilian can legally acquire an arsenal and keep an entire big city police department at bay for 10-15 minutes?

Somebody just pointed out on FB that casinos have enough cameras every where that you can’t even sneeze without somebody noticing. How in the entire and actual fuck did this dude manage to carry up to his room enough weapons to arm Bolivia, and nobody noticed or thought it was the slightest bit unusual?

      • Spotts1701, Nothingburger Chef

Man was a high roller, and casinos do not ask high rollers questions about where they’re going or what they’re doing out of fear that someone who throws around fat stacks of cash will take their business elsewhere.
It also explains how he got that particular room – you have to be a serious player with serious juice to get a room like that. It wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t comped because he was a big bankroll.

        • cmd resistor

I know I have read it was comped although not sure if true. One would think they’d keep better records of stuff like that, though. On the luggage, though, all he’d have to do it carry it up a few pieces at a time on one of those carts over a day or so. Who keeps track of people rolling those carts and whether they brought one up 2 hours ago? MAYBE he’d attract a bit of attention if he rolled up a cart of just guns not in luggage.

          • PubOption

If he paid for some of the stay and the room was comped for the rest, it could explain the confusion about when he checked in.

      Facts we like.

    • Spotts1701, Nothingburger Chef

Amazing how he managed to buy all those guns and ammo on a security guard’s salary and under the shooter’s name, face and identity.

    • Atheist

But the guns weren’t bought or registered to Campos, so what in the everloving fuck was Paddock doing with 20 or so guns in a HOTEL room? For what possible reason could he have wanted or even needed that many guns and ammunition in a hotel room that also happened to overlook the concert and be in correct alignment for bullets to hit the crowd below?

Why am I even having to type this!?

      :|

      • Vincent Ricola

Oh Paddock brought the guns to his hotel room because he loves the 2nd amendment and plays video poker and is an old white guy, so the plethora of weapons was just normal gun lover stuff. The security guard killed him for his guns and took advantage of the situation.

Yeah. It’s the worst kind of racist fanfic.

        • Arolpin

So a good guy with a gun was overpowered by a bad guy without a gun, who then used the good guy’s guns to kill the good guy and 58 other people? Then the bad guy shot himself and pretended to be the victim. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. (Assuming a sub-room-temprerature IQ)

Here is a real IQ question from a test given my NY Mensa:

Two planes fly side by side for 1/3 tank, then transfer 1/3 tank and 1 flies back while other flies on. At appropriate time 1 starts flying out to meet Earhart, at distance of 1/3 tank. Again it transfers 1/3 tank and both fly back. So the distance is 1/3 tank (beginning) + full tank + 1/3 tank (end) = 24000. x is the distance of a full tank so 5/3 x = 24000 and x = 14400.

I really want to watch Trump solve this.

Like woah, that’s too freaky to be coincidental, and also amazingly accurate that he was able to shoot-to-injure everybody past 52 casualties. Plus, as per a sight I just Goigked, 52 is a “personal freedom” number, just like America gives insane people the personal freedom to acquire a shitload of guns to kill people. Woah.

        • Sophie McMillan

        • AJ Milne

          This…

          Or, in more detail:

Trump _is_ dumb, lotsa ways. But this by no means means he’d test terribly poorly…

He’s kinda an Awful Warning. Exhibit A in why you don’t want to be what he is… A cringe-inducing demonstration of how being an ignorant, self-absorbed bigot with weirdly fragile self-esteem and highly defensive, brittle, obnoxious need to project self-regard _makes_ you, effectively, all those kindsa dumb. Guy too afraid to admit what he doesn’t know even to ask when he needs to, so happy with the simple answers and ass-kissing he’s fed that feed his needs and/or verify his prejudices, that, to all intents and purposes, he comes off as dangerously underinformed and incurious. And none of that’s stuff IQ tests are likely to catch…

So I’d bet you’re about right. He’d probably read ‘average’. He can probably add and subtract well enough, long as it’s not math pertaining to questions threatening his ego (he’ll be very bad at math asked how much he owns, or what would be the bottom line of legislation he’s staked to enact or attack). This betraying very few of the glaring weaknesses he suffers from more as a matter of temperament. Simple logic, he’d probably do fine, too… Long as it’s schematic logic gates, not ‘does the myth you’re selling on Twitter from Fox and Friends actually logically follow’…

… the more contextual test that tells the story, mind, we’re all already watching him fail, in real time, every agonizing day.

Laura Loonie is another blight on humanity spawned by the Canadian equivalent of Alex Jones, Ezra Levant, onto the world. Also too, her onetime colleague Jack Posobiec of #MacronLeaks infamy who teamed up with Laura to play shit-disturbers at a production of Richard III that took aim at President Dick the Turd.

Gavin McInnes, formerly of the increasingly assholish and aptly-named Vice Media, is another Deplo-Rebel Media blight on the species. He’s actually gone on record as saying that he’s glad that the Vegas shooting, in his unsolicited and unwanted opinion, takes some of the heat off the right-wing for being “Charlottesville killers” and now makes them look like victims of the “liberal left.” He justifies his claim that everyone at the hotel was a “right-winger” because the attack happened at a country music concert.

It’s too bad we don’t have a mutual agreement with Canada that their wingnuts and our wingnuts can both be exiled off to sea on an ice floe, or locked up forever in some frigid gulag in the NWT.

Make no mistake either, Canada has their share of these Illuminati NWO conspiracists even besides the odious kapo Levant and his minions. Want more maple-flavored stupidity? Look up Vigilant Citizen, YouTube’s “Black Pigeon,” and the rambling screeds of Henry Makow. Canada has a comprehensive mental healthcare system far more robust than ours… but apparently they missed some escaped mental patients and need to send out the Mounties with butterfly nets.

    OCTOBER 10, 2017 / 1:58 PM / UPDATED AN HOUR AGO
Las Vegas shooting victims file lawsuit against bump stock makers

NEW YORK (Reuters) – A lawsuit seeking to represent the victims of the Las Vegas rampage, the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history, was filed against the makers of so-called bump stocks, which the shooter used to achieve a near-automatic rate of fire.

The proposed class action lawsuit, filed in state court in Clark County, Nevada, over the weekend and announced on Tuesday, accuses Slide Fire Solutions and other unnamed manufacturers of negligence leading to the infliction of emotional distress on thousands of people who witnessed or were injured in the Oct. 1 shooting at a Las Vegas music festival.]

When people say to wait for the information, this is why. Initial reports are almost always wrong. Not just some minor details around the edges wrong, but seriously wrong. The rush to get information into the news cycle right now, damn it, means that whatever was wrong is now fixed in people’s minds as correct and changing the info later feeds into the paranoid lunacy of the CT crowd.

This of course does not excuse the LVPD in any way shape or form. They fucked up some very basic info, but its almost always personal policy to take the first several reports with large grains of salt.

    • Clyde Barrow

Witness accounts are just as flawed. People tend to change their stories for various reasons. That’s why detectives will always prefer to have forensic & material evidence over witness testimony in determining a case.

      • shivaskeeper

I know this from experience. Writting our witness statements with a group and none of them agree with what happened. A huge red flag for investigators is multiple statement that agree on all the particulars.

That was my experience on both sides of 15-6 investigations in the Army. Those are informal investigations that can lead to formal investigations/charges.

        • Beanz&Berryz

In the Preface to the Second edition of his Memoirs, W. T. Sherman says:

“In this free country every man is at perfect liberty to publish his own thoughts and impressions, and any witness who may differ from me should publish his own version of facts in the truthful narration of which he is interested. I am publishing my own memoirs, not theirs, and we all know that no three honest witnesses of a simple brawl can agree on all the details.”

He was writing to tell others who might disagree with his battle accounts to fuck off, but it’s applicable here.. 150 years later…

          • shivaskeeper

            Sounds about right.

          • Not so much as “Fuck off” as “yeah, I could be wrong on some of this stuff even though I was there.”

          • Beanz&Berryz

Ahh… Maybe it was some other background that I had read… He had been in correspondence spats with others after the first edition of his Memoirs, so I might be projecting from that…

      • TundraGrifter

In “The Sea Shall Tell” by Vincent Bugliosi, he presents in detail why circumstantial evidence is far more reliable than eye witness testimony. It’s a fascinating book on several levels, but that part alone makes it worthwhile to read. You won’t ever hear people disparage circumstantial evidence and accept it again.

      • Stulexington

My security supervisor, and very well respected member of the security community at one time managed to convince herself that the wrong guard was with her during an incident. She actually had to review footage of the incident to accept that she had remembered it incorrectly. It’s not always intentional, sometimes the mind gets things completely wrong during a stressful situation.

      • cmd resistor

A few months ago I was driving home and saw a guy lying on a sidewalk with a bicycle next to him. I couldn’t pull off the road right there so circled the block to get to a parking lot. As I did, I saw a black guy walking down the street in the direction of the guy. When I pulled up, the black guy was leaning over moving the bike off the guy and asking if he was ok. Looked like the guy had been drinking (smell, etc.) and he said he was ok so the black guy walked on. Meanwhile someone else drove up and also asked if the guy was ok and he said yes but 2 people helped him up and he was sitting on a small wall. Then a cop drove up. Cop said someone had called and reported that a black guy had assaulted the bike guy. , who said, no, no one had assaulted him. Fortunately for the black guy he was long gone. I figured someone must have driven past and seen the black guy leaning over when he was moving the bike and assumed they saw him hitting the guy, which just goes to show you don’t always see what you think you see.

    • Stulexington

The policy here is there’s an initial report, then a secondary report 24 hours later when (from what I understand has been proven quite conclusively) your best recollection of an event is.

      • shivaskeeper

I don’t mean the eyewitnesses. I also mean the police, the FBI, or whoever else is conducting the investigation. They want to get the news out fast, the media all want the scoop, everyone watching wants it all right now and the end result is just bad info filtering out.

        • Stulexington

I’m talking the police, they write an initial report, then a secondary one 24 hours later. However I honestly don’t think the police want to get information out this fast, I think they are bowing to pressure from the media.

          • shivaskeeper

The media and the public at large. This is the digital age and we all want results and answers right now. They have to put something out. Its unfortunate that what they end up doing is putting out bad info.

What I get from all this is that the Mandalay Bay Resort, where suites cost around $300/night, has the same shitty computer reservation system that the Days Inn at the Kansas City Speedway has, where a room costs $90/night, and where they lost my prepaid reservations 2 weeks ago and the imbecilic desk clerk seemed to have no idea what to do about that. I am shocked to discover this, as I thought an expensive hotel gave better service than a cheap one.

    • Meccalopolis

      Still passed, huh?

    • eastcoastlib

I doubt the Days Inn in KC has several hundred million dollars in cash floating around their property like most mega casinos do on any given night, Because of that, the Mandalay Bay has pretty sophisticated security. They probably aren’t equipped to handle a situation like the one they encountered on that fateful night but there is no way they didn’t give the cops everything they needed to locate the shooter and confront him within minutes of their guard being shot.

      • Gabrielle Grace

Campos gets shot, hides in the hallway during a barrage of bullets, radios security who ask him a bunch of questions to find out what is going on, then they call 911 and the 911 operator asks a bunch of questions to find out what is going on, 911 dispatches two officers because they only know a guard was shot, the officers commute to the hotel, then take the elevator… how is this supposed to happen in minutes? Have you ever called 911? I had a hit and run, and by the time they got done with their 20 questions, the guy was long gone

        • eastcoastlib

Do you know how 911 works? When you call them, they ask where you are and they dispatch officers to your location (of course they prioritize depending upon the urgency of the situation). Just because the dispatcher stays on the phone getting information from you doesn’t mean she waits until she’s done asking questions to send the cops. Are you a cop? Married to one? Have some kind of family in law enforcement? Because it seems to me cops are awful quick to react with their weapons when it’s an unarmed black man. When it’s someone who’s armed, they get a bit squeamish

  • wavicles

    Cripes, I can’t keep up… and I’m sober. That’s prolly why, huh?

  • cmd resistor

One thing I noticed in some of those sheriff briefings is he sort of did his own speculating. In one, he was saying how they didn’t have any evidence the guy had help, but then said, well, but HOW could he have done this without help, so maybe he did. Kind of reminds me of how Wingnut Bro will come up with his own scenario/theory based on nothing factual and just go with it. The correct answer would have been, We don’t have any evidence of an accomplice at this time. In another briefing he prefaced something with, “I assume….” and I thought, Hmmmm.

  • Petunia Cat

OK so do I have this right, the security guard goes up to the floor and gets shot. And six minutes later, the moment Paddock starts firing into the crowd, no one has done anything about finding the guy who shot the security guard? They may need to improve their tactical response process. Like if somebody shoots a security guard in a hotel for no reason, maybe try to arrest him. If you’re waiting for SWAT to arrive get those megaphones like from old movies and tell the guy he’s surrounded. But maybe police tactical situations are so complex cause and affect work differently in them. I don’t know. 🌀📢

    • cmd resistor

All the stories about this that came out yesterday were real unclear about whether the security guard called to report he was shot or not and who got the call if so. But they also said 200 rounds were fired into the hall so seems that might have attracted some attention. It does make more sense that they guy shot into the hall first if he saw the guard on one of his cameras than that he stopped in the middle of his rampage to check his cameras.

        • Gabrielle Grace

That may have actually happened minutes after campos was shot… campos warned a mainatance worker to take cover and then the bullets started flying according to the worker… then paddock probably broke the windows and started shooting into the crowd

      • eastcoastlib

Every security guard at the Mandalay Bay has a radio. Guarantee he used his to contact his supervisors. It’s not clear what happened after that because the cops aren’t saying but it’s pretty obvious Mandalay Bay security would have let the cops know that one of their guards lay bleeding from a gunshot wound on the 32nd floor and that they would have do so pretty damn quickly

        • Gabrielle Grace

But we don’t know when campos felt safe to even radio them… paddock was unloading in the hallway… a maintanence worker almost got shot and warned him to take cover… at what point do you stop worrying the door is going to open and the guy just kills you enough to grab your radio to announce that you’ve been shot? He was probably terrified… who are we to judge what he should have done? He had no idea this guy was about to mass kill hundreds… he just knew the guy tried to shoot him

          • eastcoastlib

            https://www.cbsnews.com/news/worker-warned-hotel-before-las-vegas-shooter-opened-fire-on-crowd/

The maintenance worker radioed security as the bullets were flying. We don’t know when Mr. Campos radioed but we now know for sure the maintenance worker warned security in near real time. By the time the cops arrived, it was pretty clear there was a mass shooter raining bullets down on the festival below. Again, it took them an hour to finally breach the door. Hardly profiles in courage.

      • Gabrielle Grace

I bet campos knocked on his door to find out about the drilling, maybe even tried to use his keycard if there was no answer and paddock shot him with one shot, maybe a handgun, then grabbed a gun and popped on a bump stock and unloaded into the hallway which gave campos time to take cover… campos warned a maintanence worker to take cover before the barrage of bullets so he was probably already shot to know to tell someone to take cover… paddock might have thought it was already police and got spooked, and shot through the door and then realized by checking cameras that there was no police and started his spree… I think he was still preparing and had bigger plans and campos interruption forced him to start after that… so it may have been minutes before campos was even in a position to safely radio that he was shot… when someone is shooting at you, your first instinct isn’t to call the police, it is to run and hide… he didn’t know if he was going to open the door and come after him

        • cmd resistor

There was some stuff in today’s stories about having incendiary bullets in the room that they thought he was going to or did use to shoot at those jet fuel tanks. It wasn’t totally verified but more of an anonymous law enforcement source type thing. But it kind of goes along with the “bigger plans” theory.

    • Last Hussar

6 minutes isn’t masses of time. Think about it. Even if security guard manages to radio immediately, there is still reaction time from the desk.

People don’t act logically. “He said he was shot” “are you sure?” (Even in America its not that common) “yes” “better call manager”. You’ve probably used over a minute just coming to terms with “call police” .

Then its the police switchboard, phone operator trying to get caller to speak clearly, and give accurate info.

Then radio op has to reroute a car, which takes finite time to get there

      • eastcoastlib

No one is suggesting they should have arrived before six minutes. They didn’t breach the room for another hour though and that’s actually a shitload of time dontcha think?

        • Jukesgrrl

Especially if they could hear him firing inside.

        • Gabrielle Grace

They evacuated the guests from nearby rooms first… that was the reason for the delay in breaching the door… they waited for swat who had riot gear… they were expecting a shootout

          • eastcoastlib

I know that hotel well. where his suite was, there are only two other rooms on that side of the hotel. I understand they waited for SWAT but it would take SWAT an hour to finally breach the door. Funny how they make split second decisions to shoot when it’s an unarmed black man but get all methodical when they know they could face someone else with a gun

      • Jukesgrrl

Six minutes is about the amount of time one has to wait for an elevator in most strip hotels.

      • Petunia Cat

All too true. Reminds me of the Sully movie. And it makes me wonder if there are better ways to deal with the kind of unprovoked shooting that could mean someone is on a spree. Or in this case of mass sniper-like thing. Even more so if the security guard was shot in a hail of bullets, somewhere it was reported 200 rounds into the hall, I think. If the gun laws are going to be so weak the police communications need to be stronger.

    • Moar Wordz

Now I’m confused. I thought it was a full HOUR after the Gaurd got shot, that Paddock started shooting into crowds below. Reading: HARD.

Are they still looking for a reason why Paddock did this? How about he (affluent white guy) did it for the same reason dogs lick their balls–because he could?

    • David Hollenshead

Or because there was something seriously wrong with his mind, like a brain tumor. Like Charles Joseph Whitman had, the clock tower shoot had ….

      • Blanche de Shambles

Sure, there could have been an organic component involved in his behavior.

However, it’s not like older white men with a sense of personal grievance usually need much of an excuse to go shoot up a place.

      • Jukesgrrl

I said that on the first day. They better be examining his brain when they do the autopsy. Or did they forget that, too?

      • Nyumbu

On August 2, an autopsy was conducted by Dr. Chenar (a neuropathologist at Austin State Hospital) at the funeral home. Urine and blood were removed to test for traces of amphetamines or other substances.[54] During the autopsy, Chenar discovered a “pecan-sized” brain tumor, which he labeled an astrocytoma and which exhibited a small amount of necrosis. Chenar concluded that the tumor had no effect on Whitman’s actions.
And, with regard to Paddock, I have seen no reports that his autopsy showed a brain tumor or dementia or any other neurological disorder.

        • David Hollenshead

I have heard mixed reports about Whitman’s brain, particularly if that was not the only tumor. As for Paddocks, no cause was found in the autopsy, but that does not mean he was well. I didn’t read if he had shot himself in the head, which would make it difficult to determine if he was well. Then again his father was a Sociopath.
My first serious girlfriend had an uncle who went on a killing spree, after serious industrial poisoning on the job. He was getting better, and his skin was finally turning back to a natural color, when he used a 38 to kill the wife and kids, dog, a state policeman, and then himself….

i’m (this) close to joining the False Flag Illuminati Masons Union!!!!!1!!1!

    • eastcoastlib

      Simple.
Cops like being called heroes and if they had mentioned at the beginning it took them an hour to enter the room and that had information on exactly where the shooter was even before he began firing into the crowd, well, that whole hero thing would have been a much harder sell.

      • doktorzoom

Even with the revised timeline, they don’t appear to have had exact info on where the shooter was at the moment the first cops arrived. Either Campos didn’t/was unable to contact his bosses in hotel security after he was shot (pure speculation: maybe Campos passed out or was in shock after being shot? That’s wild guessing, not based on anything the cops have said), or that information didn’t get to the cops if the hotel had it.

I’m willing to give a lot of credit to pure chaos, although I wouldn’t rule out incompetence either.

        • eastcoastlib

Having spent much time in and around casinos here (I build LED walls for several productions here), there’s no way hotel security didn’t know their guard had been shot and there is even less chance they didn’t alert Metro.

A couple of things lead me to this conclusion. First, the guard was unarmed and he had a radio which all guards have. Second, the shooter reportedly fired some two hundred rounds at the guard. That’s not something that would go unnoticed inside a hotel like the Mandalay Bay. Imagine you’re the guard. Someone shoots you and there are bullets flying all over the place. Would you just sit there or would you get on your radio and beg for some help?

I find it impossible to believe that hotel security didn’t alert Metro that some nut had shot their guard and had fired enough bullets to take down a platoon. Furthermore, it’s telling that Metro is not saying when hotel security alerted them to the fact their guard was shot. It’s an attempt to cover their asses for not being more aggressive in confronting the shooter.

From earlier briefings, Metro said they had officers on that floor by 10:20pm. It would take them another hour to blow the door down.

          • Gabrielle Grace

Campos’ first action would have been to try to get to safety before he could even radio anyone… he didn’t know if the shooter was going to coming running down the hallway… he apparently warned an unsuspecting mainstance worker who almost got shot, also… by the time he radioed security, which would have involved numerous questions, then security would have called 911… in the panic, the details of the floor, etc probably got mixed up, maybe campos or security even gave the wrong floor and by then, 911 would have been getting barraged with calls by that time… it so easy to criticize what you think happened when you weren’t there and don’t know all the details

          • eastcoastlib

Please stop with the excuse making. The maintenance worker radioed security when the bullets were flying. Suggesting he gave them the wrong floor is wishful thinking. It’s impossible to believe the dispatch operator wasn’t on the phone to 911 within 30 seconds of getting a call saying someone is spraying bullets and a security guard was hit. Police should know exactly what time that call from hotel security came in letting them know someone shot their guard. Why aren’t they telling us? Cops are not all that heroic when confronted with someone capable of shooting back.

        • Gabrielle Grace

The first responders were probably getting reports from the guests in the adjoining rooms, people from the concert calling 911, hotel staff and everyone under the sun… Campos’s position and source of real information probably got buried pretty quickly, especially if he called security and they called 911… no one knows if he had access to a phone to call police directly and his job protocol might have been to notify security first so they could call guests in the nearby rooms, which they apparently did and told them to take cover

The only person who seems to have done his job correctly throughout this fucked up situation is Mr. Campos. Not only does he have to deal with being shot, survivors guilt, a zillion media inquiries, the FBI and the local cops, now he’s got some drooling tool on the internet calling him a co-conspirator? And the “evidence of medications”? More proof that we need to stop Prozac before it kills again,

    • azeyote

i have a friend who was on it in high school, put a shotgun in his mouth and fired, then he noticed he wasn’t dead so he put the thing in and shot himself again – now 15 years, and a zillion operations later he still lives and gets by – of course even though the meds came with suicide listed as a side effect, they wouldn’t pay out cause he smoked pot too – now he smokes lots of pot – pharmaceuticals do weird things to some folks

    • mfp, all 6s&7s&9s

prozac not a benzo, it’s an SSRI…benzos are valium, xanax, ativan, klonopin, etc

      • Blanche de Shambles

Oh yeah- my bad. I got the two mixed up. Must be the lorazepam talking.

        • mfp, all 6s&7s&9s

😆…let me introduce you to my friend al…al prazolam

      • arrrghle

Actually there is a lot of not-very-well-advertised evidence that antidepressants are problematic in aggression and suicidality.

But I don’t think the Illuminati have anything to do with that. Just pharmaceutical profits and a bit of medical study spin doctoring.

        • mfp, all 6s&7s&9s

it’s true, the SSRI drugs are quite problematic esp with suicidality…most of them have black box suicide warnings on the packaging (which we rarely see unless given samples), and withdrawing these meds cold turkey is a BIG no-no-no…also, if one reads the tiny-print multi-fold directions and warnings in the sample boxes, every one of the SSRIs is recommended for no more than 6-12 month usage because of decreasing effectivenss and altered brai n chemistry (bet nobody knew that, hunh?)–i know people that have been on zoloft and/or paxil for close to 20yrs…absolutely ridiculous, mostly ineffective, and pure profit-driven, at the expense of individual mental health and safety…what a country, enhh?

benzos, on the other hand, are usually used for suicide on purpose…and that’s getting to be fairly rare in my experience…most chronic benzo users i know are real pros and have their dosages down to a fine art, whether for maintenance or a buzz binge

          • H0mer0

you are correct on the benzo vs SSRI classification. Fluoxetine, or Prozac does not need to be tapered slowly because of its long half life but the rest should be tapered down. Chronic benzo users probably should withdraw slowly to reduce the chances of withdrawal seizures. The cost of generic SSRIs are as inexpensive as $2 for a month supply at the pharmacy downstairs from my office so I wouldn’t call maintaining it as therapy to be profit driven. The 6-12 month “limit” on effectiveness depends on the person’s own chemistry and is not an absolute. It is always helpful to reevaluate the necessity of any long term medication for any condition since brain chemistry can change.

How are mass shootings and their aftermaths managed in America?

    Like this.

  • Jukesgrrl

I heard on the news the morning after the shooting that Paddock had checked in on Thursday. When, later, everyone started saying he checked in on Saturday, I kept asking, “Well who was that in the room on Thursday and Friday?” But of course no one listens to me because I talk to myself. How do I hear stuff the FBI doesn’t hear? Also, too, I was rather puzzled that the LVMPD had seemed so competent in this investigation after some of the stories I’ve heard from people who actually interacted with them. So I’m not surprised a different story is now emerging.

    • H0mer0

I thought my iphone was listening in on my thoughts. Ima just glad it hasn’t ordered a bunch of dildos every time I thought the words “fuck me!” when reading another piece of “fine literature” about the promptness of law enforcement to respond when there is melanin involved.

    • Gabrielle Grace

He was checked into a different room the hotel comped the first time, then he changed rooms so he was probably there surveying which room would be the best angle for the concert and then requested that room and checked into it later in the week… there is no mystery here when you learn the facts… in the chaos, people assumed things and didn’t ask for details… the police who found campos probably assumed he was shot after the shooting began, he probably told them the shooter shot down the hallway and they just assumed it was after the massacre… campos would have had no idea what was happening outside and not realized to clarify it at first… they were trying to rescue other people on the floor

  • Ginnie Sack

Wait. The police met Campos at 10:18, but didn’t break down Paddock’s door until 11:20? The heck were they doing for an hour? They didn’t know he was dead. I mean, wouldn’t they want to make sure he had really stopped shooting. The sensible explanation involves police incompetency, but ISIS/Hillary intervention sounds more fun.

    • ahughes798

Why is it that the police always wait until the shooting stops before they do anything? Isn’t the possibility of getting killed in the line of duty part of “serving and protecting?” If they aren’t going to put their lives on the line for citizens, then who are they serving and protecting? Should they even be cops? No one forced them to become cops. The same thing with the Orlando shooting…the cops waited until the shooting was over.

      • eastcoastlib

They were clearing out all the guests on the 32nd floor, which was a not inconsiderable number of rooms, as well as waiting for the SWAT team to arrive. Since the shooting had stopped, they decided to go for methodical.
