HANDS OFF, ORANGE HITLER.

Time for Hillary Clinton to go back to Benghazi, because she’s not the only person with a new book out today! Turns out MSNBC’s Katy Tur ended up accidentally picking today to release HER book, Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History, which chronicles what it was like to follow Donald Trump around on his puss-grabbing racism tour during the 2016 campaign. (You should buy it when you buy your copy of Hillary Clinton’s book, or just whenever you want, as long as it’s RIGHT NOW.)

Let us say on the front end that we love Katy Tur, which means we are #BIAS. She is so smart and good and funny and delightful, and if yr gay-ass Wonkette may be allowed a brief moment of heterosexuality, she is SO PRETTY YOU GUYS OMG.

Anyway.

Trump harassed the shit out of Tur constantly during the campaign. He absolutely loved it when she covered his rallies, so he could rile up his cousin-fucking hordes in rage over how the fake news is lying to America. About a week before the election, Trump screamed the following at her, because THERE’S SOMETHING HAPPENING, KATY, YOU’RE NOT REPORTING IT, KATY!

KATY, YOU’RE NOT REPORTING IT, KATY. BUT THERE’S SOMETHING HAPPENING, KATY. THERE’S SOMETHING HAPPENING, KATY.

And he pointed at her like this, so the human tubes of expired Easy Cheese at his rally knew EXACTLY which offending journalist, who just happened to be a young woman, was NOT REPORTING IT, KATY!

Trump does this because he is a sexist piece of shit who gets the world’s tiniest erections (which also happen to be his biggest) over exerting creepy filthy chauvinist power over women.

Trump also tweeted during the campaign at various times about Tur, saying she was a “3rd rate reporter” who “lied” and “should be fired.” You know, usual third-grade level Trump stuff.

But hey, don’t take all that to suggest Trump doesn’t think Katy Tur is FUCKIN’ HOT, or that he doesn’t want to grab her by the pussy and take her furniture shopping. Taegan Goddard posted a quote from Tur’s book Tuesday morning, about this one time Trump tried to grope her on the set of “Morning Joe”:

“Before I know what’s happening, his hands are on my shoulders and his lips are on my cheek. My eyes widen. My body freezes. My heart stops. Fuck. I hope the cameras didn’t see that. My bosses are never going to take me seriously.”

Fucking hell, he is beyond deplorable. GET YOUR HANDS AND YOUR ORANGE FACE AND YOUR APPLEHEADED VAGINA MOUTH OFF OF KATY TUR, PRESIDENT RAPE VAN, RIGHT THE FUCK NOW!

Get the context here! He was verbally abusing Katy Tur from the stage constantly and on Twitter, and yet the physically repulsive pile of hardened cat vomit currently manspreading all over the Oval Office thought it would be cool to get all up on her, like maybe if he stuck his gelatinous tongue in her mouth, she would start reporting that SOMETHING IS HAPPENING, KATY.

Also, how fucked up is it that Tur’s first thought was that her bosses wouldn’t take HER seriously if they saw Trump advancing on her? And they say sexism is dead. (Just kidding, they don’t say that. But don’t mention it, especially if you’re Hillary Clinton!)

MSNBC released a longer excerpt from Tur’s book, and oh boy, if you didn’t click the link to pre-order above, you will after you read this account from election night, when Tur realized that, just as she suspected, Trump would win the election:

My brutal, crazy, exasperating year with Trump is going to end — by not ending at all. Trump will be president. The most powerful person in the world. And I will be locked in a press pen for the rest of my life. Does anyone really believe he’ll respect term limits? I have a vision of myself at sixty, Trump at a hundred, in some midwestern convention hall. The children of his 2016 supporters are spitting on me, and he is calling my name: “She’s back there, Little Katy! She’s back there.” […]

I’ve heard him insult a war hero, brag about grabbing women by the pussy, denigrate the judicial system, demonize immigrants, fight with the pope, doubt the democratic process, advocate torture and war crimes, tout the size of his junk in a presidential debate, trash the media, and endanger my life.

I’ve learned that none of this matters to an Electoral College majority of American voters. They’ve decided that this menacing, indecent, post-truth landscape is where they want to live for the next four years.

Tur got literal death threats while she was covering Trump’s campaign, because that’s the kind of thing Trump’s example emboldens his stable of pigs to do to people. Indeed, according to her excerpt, a staffer told her during the campaign that, second to Trump, Secret Service paid the most attention to her during events, in order to protect her from them.

We are glad, for Katy Tur’s health and sanity, and for the quality of MSNBC’s daytime news operation, that instead of forcing her to stay in Donald Trump’s loathsome presence all the time, the network just gave her her own show. It’s much better that way.

    • Three Finger Salute

Fuck you Hollywood. This is so fucking wrong on so many levels. Not just that they keep spitting out copies of copies of copies from the Xerox machine, but because they seriously think that the answer to their diversity issues is to just slap a random minority in a preexisting template cutout character from 1981. It reeks of tokenism and is disgusting.

How about, you know, actually hiring some women and PoC to tell their own original stories, like Issa Rae’s Insecure, instead of doing a find-and-replace in Microsoft Word/Final Draft of “Any Eighties White Guy” for “Insert Random Minority and/or Woman Here”? Oh, no, can’t do that, that’d be hard, and it wouldn’t “play in Peoria.” Won’t someone please think of the ratings and the backlash from Trumpists?

      • Jamoche

There’s nothing really about “random normal person gets super-suit” that’s tied to any particular character type.

      Yes. Yes, they do.

Which is why WE have to get them out of Congress asap!

      • Axomamma

The only problem with seeing that as a solution is that we’ve already had experience with Democratic majorities where half the members suffer from Stockholm Syndrome, insisting Dems have to “respect” Republicans and their agenda, voting against Dem proposals and pushing Republican proposals.

        • weighmaster

          That is really aggravating.

          • NastyBossetti

One of the things I fully realized during the campaign was that it happens so frequently that we barely even mention it, like it’s normal, like it’s just the price of living as a female human.

          • weighmaster

Yup. We are raised to expect it, we warn each other avoid being alone with “that guy”, we find other places to be when he starts showing up at the places we like…the list goes on and on.

          • weighmaster

Don’t usually reply to my own comments, but I want to say that “that guy” IS NOT most guys. Most guys are decent human beings, but there are enough of “those guys” that most of us know at least 1. I think that most guys don’t realize that “that guy” is their friend, or brother until it’s too late.

          • Shanzgood

Thanks. I’m just glad it seems that there’s a lot more attention being given to what people experience in this regard. Hopefully, more folks won’t consider it so “normal” any more.

Katy Tur looks like she can take care of herself and could put Trump down if needed but she shouldn’t have been subjected to abuse and reporters are doing their job.

I don’t think Muellers investigation will be into Trump’s history of abuse of women unless it comes out in the pee pee tapes one woman needs to come forward and not accept a pay off to stay silent so we can put Trump in prison where he belongs.

    • Shanzgood

Wow. Next you’ll be blaming the women who never came forward at all.

    • Manders

I do not think you “love women” as much as you claim to.

Plenty of women came forward. Like, a whole lot. They were ignored and he got elected anyway. I have no idea why Mueller would be investigating his abuse since that has nothing to do with Russia or his financial corruption.

      • Shanzgood

Also, the statute of limitations has run out for most of them as far as prosecuting Trump goes. The only recourse most of these women have is suing him, hence some of the out of court settlements (“payoffs”).

      • Bitter Scribe

It’s not the journalists on the ground I’m talking about. It’s their bosses–their editors. Editors are supposed to stick up for their reporters, at least as long as the reporters are doing their jobs conscientiously and professionally. It’s just part of being a worthwhile boss; part of the job, a large part, is having your employees’ backs.

        • Paul

Small independent news outfits excepted, the rest of the reporters and their editors all work for a mega corporation. You’d know better than I what the statistics are, but about 6 corporations own all the radio and television networks and stations, and their employees self-censor, lest they rock the boat too much and find themselves on the street. Rupert Murdoch doesn’t tell Steve Doucy what to say, but Doucy sure knows what’s expected of him.

Alas, the days of Murrow and Mencken are long gone.

    • TundraGrifter

Early in the campaign I suggested that, right here on Wonkette. Nobody listened. Mr. Trump needed the media much more than the media needed him. To this day I don’t understand why they didn’t just walk away – and I am thoroughly disgusted they didn’t.

      • Because he was great for business. He still is, given the bump in NYT and WaPo circulation. Follow the money.

He saved Zucker’s and CNN’s bacon last year for sure.

    • Paul

Seems like part of a bigger movement to limit the freedom of the press by limiting the freedom of reporters to actually do their job and get whatever story they wish to write. Same as “embedding” reporters with the troops. Limit their ability to get the real stories.

God damn nosy reporters fucked up the Viet Nam war bullshit we were constantly being fed by the government. Those were some brave and crazy men and women
that got battlefield footage and interviews with the grunts sent into everybody’s living room at dinner time, rather than generals telling us about the light at the end of the tunnel. Anybody else remember body counts?

There were only three TV stations delivering news back then, and Walter Cronkite was the most respected anchorman. So when he said, after actually going to Viet Nam and doing his own reporting:

” It seems now more certain than ever that the bloody experience of
Vietnam is to end in a stalemate”

Well, any remaining American support for that shitty little exercise in colonialism was kaput. LBJ said:

“That’s it. If I’ve lost Cronkite I’ve lost middle America.”

So it’s no wonder every possible way is being used to neuter, counter and intimidate the “free”press. It’s what the Powell Memo was all about and when all this large scale fuckery commenced.

As long as I’m on my high (old) horse, permit me to say “Jesus Christ on a pogo stick if any of you youngsters don’t know what the Powell Memo is, get off my lawn and go learn about it. This is already way too long and I apologize for ranting, but here’s a short but scary blurb from Greenpeace:

Historian Kim Phillips-Fein describes how “many who read the memo cited it afterward as inspiration for their political choices.” In fact, Powell’s Memo is widely credited for having helped catalyze a new business activist movement, with numerous conservative family and corporate foundations (e.g. Coors, Olin, Bradley, Scaife, Koch and others) thereafter creating and sustaining powerful new voices to help push the corporate agenda, including the Business Roundtable (1972), the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC – 1973), Heritage Foundation (1973), the Cato Institute (1977), the Manhattan Institute (1978), Citizens for a Sound Economy (1984 – now Americans for Prosperity), Accuracy in Academe (1985), and others.

Because it signaled the beginning of a major shift in American business culture, political power and law, the Powell memo essentially marks the beginning of the business community’s multi-decade collective takeover of the most important institutions of public opinion and democratic decision-making. At the very least, it is the first place where this broad agenda was compiled in one document.

TL;DR version Hillary wasn’t bullshitting about a vast right wing conspiracy.

What astounds me are the co-dependent GOP women who think it’s an honor to be chosen by a creep and a duty to withstand gross sexual conduct. Fucking sick. What society brings up girls this way, tells them they should be happy someone shows them attention?

        • miss_grundy

That isn’t “attention”. That is a set-up for sexual harassment or rape.

          • What society brings up its girls to be happy when someone sexually harasses them or rapes them? AOT,K

“Before I know what’s happening, his hands are on my shoulders and his lips are on my cheek.” I see he does the cheek kissing similarly to the way he shakes hands – making sure he has the person in his physical power. Doesn’t surprise me; I think he’s probably had to do that his whole life because of all the people who did not want to shake hands, and did not want his lips anywhere near their bodies. My reaction wouldn’t have been to freeze up, but then, I’m not a respected reporter wanting to keep her job. He really is a pig.

    • Lordpnut

He’s a bastard with no manners and not the dook of an idea how to comport himself publicwise, and I’ll meet him with chain or nosh or britva anytime.

Ladies! And wimmenz, too! if a scary haired squamous lipped pussy grabber puts a physical move on you, even if it’s just a testing the waters shoulder touch, pleez at least knee him/her/it (even the Ted Cruzes of the world need to be included in the scumsucky predator class) in the naughty bits as many times as it takes for the message to rise to the reptilian brain guiding the smarmy behavior to keep his cootiez to him/her/itself.

And, menz, if toad like Milo Yiannopoulos or Ann Coulter triez it out on you, feel free to be physically rude as well.

It the proper thing to do.

    • Lordpnut

As a man, if anyone touched me like that unexpectedly I would automatically assume it was a malicious physical assault and react in kind.

    • If as a man, you see a woman being treated this way, it is imperative that you intervene. Talk to her (don’t hit on her for god’s sake). It’s all that is needed.

And if anything illegal happened, even just a minor misdemeanor, involve the police. Rapists build skills through practice. Early intervention is a proven way to deter a sexually aggressive man from becoming a rapist.

      • sgt. jmk of the résistance

I can’t emphasize enough – TALK TO HER, NOT HIM.

    • ahughes798

Men are conditioned to protect that area, so it may not be too successful, but it doesn’t hurt to try. These are gross, but….Poke your finger straight into their eye. Or ram it up their nose. Or grab their thumb and pull it backwards ’til it breaks. Kick them in the knee, from the side or front. This is advice that I got from a retired cop who teaches self defense classes for women.

  • 52camellias

Dear men, as a person of the female persuasion, I applaud, and, indeed, feel comforted by your support. However, as much as I would like to deliver a good right hook upon occasions such as this (and, I am sorry to say, I have experienced occasions like Ms. Tur describes) there is a kind of panic that can seize one, a paralysis, with, “Not me . . . this is not happening, oh, God, please, no,” especially if one is under the age of consent. The mind stutters, maybe some feeble pushing away happens, a “Uh, but, uh,” comes out of the mouth, and then one’s sister comes running like an avenging dragon and drags one away from the foul, pustulent creep.
Anyway, whenever you think “Why didn’t she deck him?” That’s why.

    • Sophie McMillan

Thank you – you expressed this beautifully

    • Shanzgood

Because we’re conditioned to be “nice” and to “not make a fuss” and also that nobody will believe us anyway.

      • 52camellias

There’s a difference between being frozen in horror and being temporarily unable to think of a graceful way to remove oneself from a revolting situation. I assure you, there have been plenty of times when I have been able to firmly exit an unpleasant scene, sometimes politely, sometimes with the use of what would be legally termed assault.

      • TootsStansbury

He is such an obvious abuser. I am repulsed, on a visceral level.

    • Biel_ze_Bubba

I know it’s not for everywoman, but it would be great if every now and then one of these pigs got a loud, public, and immediate nose-pounding, right in front of everybody. Nobody doubts you when it happens that way.

      • 52camellias

I admire your sense of fairness, but it’s just as likely that the man will get the benefit of the doubt and the woman will be labeled “hysterical,” “frigid,” unable to deal with someone “just trying to be friendly” or off her meds. Even in this, the 21st Century.

        • Rotisserie Teal

Sad but true. Though it might also earn a label of “Do not fuck with”

          • ahughes798

If I had daughters, that is exactly the attitude they’d be raised with, and they’d have the skills to back it up.

        • PMSing. Feminazi. Cold Fish. ayep

          • sgt. jmk of the résistance

Hysterical. Can’t take a joke. Why is she so angry?

        • HooverVilles

And that is SAD! for realz.

      • 52camelieas is right. The man gets the benefit of the doubt and his reputation and life prospects are protected. When we stop with that BS and start giving women the benefit of the doubt, then we’ll be one step closer to ending sexism.

      • No, they do doubt you when it happens that way. You become the crazy bitch. “gees, lady, he was just being friendly. Why do you women get so hysterical?” Then if he follows you out to the parking lot and beats the shit out of you, well, no one saw that, but there are plenty of people to testify that you were acting crazy earlier.

There is never any way to win in those situations. There’s always a way to blame the victim.

    • BehaveYrself

My visceral response to your “Not me… this is not happening…” included my eyes tearing up. I am glad I’m not alone, and yet I’m fucking sorry that I’m not…To feel like a bumbling idiot, powerless, has happened way too many times to most of us.

      • sgt. jmk of the résistance

        Waaaaaaaaaay too many times.

    • Paralysis is an evolved defense mechanism. If I don’t move, the predator will not notice me. Also, if I fight back, I might be injured or killed better to let it happen and hope… Jesus H. Crap, what a world we live in.

      • It is an instinct reinforced in us from a young age. Girls are not supposed to fight. Girls are supposed to be soft and nurturing. Girls are weak and helpless and need someone to save them.
Teach the young. They will have a better chance when their time comes.

        • And unfortunately, their time does come all too often.

        • Debbie the Unpaid Protester

Also, too– even if a woman has been taught to stand up for herself, there is STILL the mental calculation that I certainly have made: “will anybody step in & help me, or will they leave me to the mercy of this now-enraged pig?” i.e., “will I just make it worse for myself?”

    • Jukesgrrl

For the same reason Hillary Clinton didn’t deck Trump when he advanced on her like a stalker in their second debate.

  • Royal Ugly Globalist Dude

I heard Tur doing an interview on the radio today, and the stories she told were sickening. I don’t know how she put up with all the abuse from Trump and his followers.

    • kaydenpat

Why did she have to put up with such nonsense and threats to her life? For what? To cover an a-hole’s presidential campaign? Why didn’t MSNBC protect her and stop sending her into a danger zone? Were the ratings worth what she was put through?

      • dshwa

You know the answer to the corporate bean counters who run networks is yes. And more than a few though that if his supporters did attack her, it would make the O.J. trial look like a bad Saturday afternoon special ratings wise.

      • ahughes798

        Yes!

      • HooverVilles

        Cha-Ching!

  • Keith Taylor

No surprise, unfortunately. This man is disgusting. His administration makes me think of the darkest days in the state of Queensland, down under, when racist monster Bjelke-Peterson ran the government there, as premier. At least he never became our Prime Minister. But his chief public servant, Pat Killoran, who would have been right at home in Rhodesia in the 1970s (when all this happened) came creepily on to aboriginal activist Cheryl Buchanan in those days. Ms. Buchanan was seventeen. She had begun seeing fellow activist Denis Walker (son of distinguished aboriginal poetess Kath Walker, or Oodgeroo Noonuccal). Killoran decided arbitrarily that Walker was not suitable company for a young girl, and told Ms. Buchanan, “Stay away from him, he is trouble for you.”
BY her account the slob, red-faced and sweating, was patting her on the butt at the time.

There’s a reason that so many people who have dealt with him in NYC consider him a social boor–because he is. He is the best example that money does not equal class.

    • Odd Jørgensen

Model Vendela Kirsebom was seated at the same table as him at some event (WH cor dinner?) and she said of him afterwards he was the most vulgar man she ever met. And she worked in a pretty vulgar environment, where sexism was the daily menu.

    • blaid droog

Maybe tucker carlson is a better example. Tee vee dinners are pretty classless.

  • Not to nitpick, but it’s a “sty of pigs”. Not a stable…

    • Rotisserie Teal

there might be an exception when the pigs are upright.

“Four legs good. Two legs bad.”

    • KenTFM

Well since we are not nitpicking it is not “a sty of pigs” A group of pigs are variously called a drift, parcel, passel, sounder and a few others I can’t remember.

      • A Tea Party of pigs?

      • ahughes798

A sty is what the group of pigs are enclosed in. Usually a small area fenced off with lumber. The sty could be completely empty, and it’s still called a pig sty.

        • KenTFM

Precisely… a “pig sty” is an enclosure. No one would ever refer to it as, in your case, and again we’re not picking nits, a “sty of pigs”

          • ahughes798

            Yoda could.

  • kaydenpat

I wonder what it would have taken for the MSM to not have covered Trump’s obscene, violent and chaotic campaign. They covered him as if he was a Rock Star. This includes Tur’s employer, MSNBC.

And even now, too much of the MSM bends over backwards to normalize Trump. After Trump encouraged his rally attendees to attack the press, journalists should have walked out and stopped giving him coverage. He kept them in pens. He called them fake news. And they tolerated it. My sympathy for any of them is low. Sorry.

    • Buzz1313

That’s how I feel. I was pretty stunned by the amount of crap MSNBC let fly during the election season. I’ll try not to be so stunned when they repeat this in 2020

  • Rotisserie Teal

“Also, how fucked up is it that Tur’s first
thought was that her bosses wouldn’t take HER seriously if they saw
    Trump advancing on her?”

I think the answer is REALLY REALLY fucking fucked up.

I listened to Ms Tur interviewed on the radio today. Might have been Terry Gross?
    I recommend it.

“human tubes of expired Easy Cheese”
That Evan sure can turn a phrase

    • Jukesgrrl

Yes, fucked up. But so true. I would have had the same thought.

  • Every time one of these stories of handsy men being inappropriately handsy with unwilling women, there’s a whole slew of similar stories coming up of the Oh yeah, that happened to me a gazillion times variety. The unfortunate truth is that there are a lot of men out there either in the past, present, or not too distant future doing this shit. Just like those surveys that report about sex and women seem to underestimate the amounts and men overestimate and you think, that few women cannot be responsible for all those sex claims from those men, the same thing is happening here. That few men cannot be responsible for all of the sexual assault and harassment reported by that many women.

    • Every woman, in her life time, regardless of what she looks like, where she was raised, or how old she was when it happened, has experienced either verbal or physical harassment, or worse.
      Every woman.
Hug your daughters and let them know it is NOT ok and they do NOT have to freeze up and panic. That they are allowed to fight back. Best if you teach them how to do so. I suggest shin/groin/under chin combo.

      • Jukesgrrl

Yes, every woman I know. I was utterly amazed to find out, as an adult, that our small-town family doctor told my very-married mother that she wouldn’t have to pay her bills if she had sex with him.

      • This is what I’m teaching my niece. Go for the soft bits if any man lays a hand on her without permission.

Unfortunately everything you say here is true, I’m yet to meet any woman who has not been assaulted or groped at some point in their lives.

WTF is wrong with men? I am one and I don’t get it!

  • I wonder if the Sekret Service would have been able to stop me from reaching back, grabbing cahones and twisting up high and inside.
Cause if dude did that to me, that is what would have happened.

    • Dr Jen, you are awesome.

    • sgt. jmk of the résistance

Trump did all that, and worse, for decades. Joe/Mika knew it all, but chose to tout their BFF as a perfectly normal, self-made business titan. Whatever it took to rock that early morning phone-in. IMHO, (Lady MS) streetwalkers should demand the kind of pay these whores are getting.

  • Buzz1313

Just watched Rachael Maddow discuss Katy Tur’s book and came away from it feeling… Here’s what stuck with me. Tur claims Trump supporters felt boxed in by “political correctness” (that thing that if that call me a nig- call me a name I don’t like I’m not supposed to get mad at them for it and if I do I’m too sensitive), that they weren’t Democrats or Republicans but Trump supporters and lastly, that despite their attitude towards Tur and other journalists like her, she viewed them in an empathetic light. People who throw around the phrase “political correctness” to air their grievances are almost always conservatives and Republicans. Maddow’s own show has documented that, yes, most Republicans supported Trump (don’t pin this nightmare president on the liberals!) during the election after he won the primaries. The part about the empathy towards them despite their being raging assholes is what gets me. Why is everyone trying to assign motives to these people for their support of an ill mannered idiot like Trump, to any and everything but pure hatred (for minorities, for Hillary, for liberals) and why are so many journalists bending over backward to insinuate that-deep down- these are good people?
