Hello, Donald. How are you doing today?

Hillary Clinton was interviewed by Christiane Amanpour on Tuesday at a luncheon for Women For Women International, and while this wasn’t the FIRST time she’s emerged from the woods to say peek-a-boo to the American public, it was definitely her most badass outing so far. She made some news in the back-and-forth, like for instance she is writing a book that will be out in September, about how she “lost” the election to Donald Trump. She addressed why she “lost,” and in the process managed to throw approximately one metric lady fuckton of shade at Trump, without ever once saying his name.

Now, some might say we are part of the #HillaryClintonCorporateGlobalistFanClub by even writing this post, but that’s silly. We are the PRESIDENT of that club and ALSO A CLIENT.

Let’s visit with the lady who was supposed to be president before Vladimir Putin and James Comey grabbed the White House by the pussy on Trump’s behalf:

Why she lost the election, in her own words!

It wasn’t a perfect campaign. There is no such thing. But I was on the way to winning, until a combination of Jim Comey’s letter on October 28 and Russian WikiLeaks raised doubts in the minds of people who were inclined to vote for me, but got scared off. And the evidence for that intervening event is, I think, compelling, persuasive. And so we overcame a lot in the campaign, we overcame an enormous barrage of negativity, of false equivalency, and so much else, but as Nate Silver, who doesn’t work for me — he’s an independent analyst, but one who’s considered to be very reliable — has concluded, if the election had been on October 27, I’d be your president.

Those are just #facts. Everything was going along swimmingly until James Comey, for whatever reason (*cough* ROGUE FBI OFFICE IN NEW YORK *cough*), felt the need to alert Congress that maybe Hillary left a few bundt cake recipes on Anthony Weiner’s laptop. Comey announced that it was a big OOPSIE NOTHING TO SEE HERE two days before the election, but the damage was done.

Somebody hold Hillary’s beer, because she is not done talking about this yet.

But the reason why I believe we lost were the intervening events in the last ten days. And I think you can see, I was leading in the early vote, I had a very strong — and not just our polling and data analysis — but a very strong assessment going across the country about where I was in terms of the necessary votes and electoral votes. And remember I did win more than three million votes [than] my opponent. It’s like, REALLY????

OH SHIT DONALD TRUMP IS NOT GOING TO LIKE THAT.

AMANPOUR: I feel a tweet coming!

CLINTON: Well, FINE. You know, better that than interfering in foreign affairs, if he wants to tweet about me, I’m happy to be the diversion …

LOLOLOL did she just say it’s better for the current president to get distracted pout-raging at her on Twitter than it is for him to even dip his tiny hands into foreign affairs? Oh shit, she did.

… because we’ve got lots of other things to worry about. And he should worry less about the election, and my winning the popular vote …

FUCK!

… than doing some other things that would be important for the country.

Daaaaaaaaamn.

OH AND ALSO THERE WAS THAT RUSSIA THING, which was done by Vladimir Putin, who hates Hillary because he is a pussy and she was mean to him one time.

He certainly interfered in our election. And it was clear he interfered to hurt me and help my opponent. And if you chart my opponent and his campaign’s statements, they quite coordinated with the goals that that leader who shall remain nameless had. So yeah, look. I think Russia is a great country. And I think the Russian people are extraordinarily talented. And I think they are badly governed. And I think they have been denied their opportunities to really join the modern world in a way that will lift them all up. And I also think that when their president came back, after having taken a time-out to be prime minister, he rigged the elections for the parliament, and I was your secretary of State, and we do speak out about rigged elections. That kinda goes with the territory.

At least it did prior to this administration.

SHOTS FUCKING FIRED.

Christine Amanpour asked Hillary if misogyny played a role in her loss and Hillary made a face like OH HUMMMMM I DUNNO and everybody laughed.

Hillary noted in the discussion that, for real, of course she made mistakes, and you can read her “confession” and her “absolution” in her book, when it comes out!

(Her mistake: She didn’t go to the Rust Belt enough. That’s the mistake.)

The part where she says she is “back to being an activist citizen and part of the #RESISTANCE.”

Ayup, that’s exactly what she said:

#RESIST!

Hillary says you actually can’t solve North Korea on Twitter early in the morning, while wearing your bathrobe.

Wait, no shit?

America, this could have been your president.

After Hillary’s interview, pundits on the MSNBC talked about how she’s just SO BREEZY and HILARIOUS now that she’s not an email harpy trying to be a lady president, and the authors of Flapjacked Smashmouthed Shattered, that opportunistic book about how Hillary is just a giant fuck-up for losing three states by a few thousand votes and only winning the popular vote by three million, were of course on television like, “Whatever, Hillary sux, please buy our dumb book.”

Fuck that noise. The election is over, but if Hillary Clinton decides to come out and dunk on Trump like this from time to time, we are just fine with that. Hell, give her a morning show and let her do it on the daily.

Donald Trump would lose. his. fucking. mind. (What’s left of it, anyway, ALLEGEDLY.)

What’s even better is that a grand jury (which the FBI cannot itself convene, but whatevs) is convened to consider an indictment. An old lawyer’s saying is that you can indict a ham sandwich, so even if there was a grand jury, they didn’t even have enough evidence to get by even that stage.

Ronnie at least had movie star charm. Trump has no charm, no class, no brain, and not nearly as much money as he claims. He sold a basket of bullshit to the public and an bunch of the dumb ones bought it. And now they refuse to admit that he is acting like an asshole.

        • cmd resistor

Ronnie was a crappy movie star and he never charmed me, but I can see people being schmoozed by him. But Trump, I just don’t get it. Not charming, not slick, can’t even formulate a thought using words, and people fell for it, and not all of them are totally dumb.

Which makes me doubleplusthrilled that Wonkette doesn’t allow comments.

  • Allen03

Hillary was a terrible candidate. Yes, she would have beaten the worst candidate of all time had it not been for a last minute assist by Comey, but that does not change the fact that she herself was a terrible candidate who bought herself down through many unnecessary self-inflicted wounds like cozying up to Wall Street, being a war hawk, ignoring blue collar America, her private email server and the constantly revising statements about it, an inability to give an appealing campaign speech, “deplorables”, etc. She also chased off all the better potential candidates, any of which would have easily beaten Trump. Seriously, we could have, should have, and can do better. It’s time to forget about Hillary and look to the future.

    • C4TWOMAN

        • Blackest Noobs

          exactly.

          • Pisto75666

It bears repeating but, I mean, there’s the absolute dung-heap that composed the Republican ticket, and all people had to do was vote AGAINST that. It wasn’t that hard.

Then my new favorite point about ignoring blue-collar America. You feel ignored so let’s instead vote for the guy who’s going to actively screw you over?

            The mind boggles.

          • Shibusa

The fact that Trump voters, by and large, do not care that Trump is failing to deliver on his many pie-in-the-sky campaign promises kind of tells you that a lot of the “economic anxiety” we heard so much about was just a beard for misogyny and racism.

          • Pisto75666

I wish they’d remove the beard. It makes things so much simpler.

          • MissNomer

The best candidates are the ones that don’t run. Just ask Joe.

        • Marceline

Compared to her husband and Obama. That’s really all it is. Bill and Bamz were all smooth and cool and funny and she hadn’t perfected her stand-up act to their satisfaction. Of course, Bernie’s none of those things either but since his candidacy only exists in AU fanfiction he gets grandfathered in with them.

          • Pisto75666

Well of course all that’s obvious (I should’ve made my sarcasm more clear) I just think the ‘terrible candidate’ excuse is just that, an excuse.

          • Shibusa

We were spoiled by Obama’s talent as a politician, I think. That kind of charisma can’t really be taught. We won’t see another like him for a very long time.

          • Pilotshark

isn`t that what he is doing, trying to get younger people to into Government Service?
            which would be great!

Heh, heh. . .you said “grandfathered”. . .

“But she was flawed!” Because no other human being who has ever run for the office of President has had any flaws, whatsoever. Hillary was the first one in history to so much as bite her nails.

I see you are assuming I was a Burnout supporter. Wrong. Like I said, she chased away the potential candidates who could have won, and I’m not talking about Bernie, O’Malley, Webb, etc. Regardless, it’s time to put all that in the past and look to the future, and the future is not Hillary.

        • C4TWOMAN

Who did she “chase away” who “might” have won? Name one, just ONE person Hillary chased away.

          • Spotts1701, Resistance Pilot

What caused that was probably folks like Allen03, here, who only show up in Presidential election years. You know where good candidates come from? The Senate. Governor’s Mansions. You know who votes more often in those elections when they aren’t in Presidential years? REPUBLICANS!

          • Dr. Rrrrrobotnik

Well yeah, but who actually shows up for tuesday elections? That’s, like, raid night and junk.

        • Me not sure

Nobody ever said that she is the future. Her career in elective politics, as a candidate, is over, but she is a talented and intelligent woman and there is no law against her working for causes that she believes in and having a role in the way in which those causes and their related issues are discussed. If one of those issues is foreign interference with our electtions, who better?

    • Mpeg

Wait — so now the crime was “constantly revising statements” about email servers? Way to revise the narrative, Dick Tracy! There is no way of knowing who else “would have beaten” Trump since his followers have defied precedent, statistical calculation and apparently eat up the dreck of mushmouth speeches like bacon gravy. For all the talk about ‘future’ I wouldn’t invest in your crystal ball myself, sir or madam.

    • Marceline

Oh I can’t wait to find out who the future is.

      • aktlib101

Personally, I kinda like Chris Murphy from CT. Read some of his statements/speeches. Great. Young. Articulate.

    • Shibusa

Then again, since the election, Drumpf has been a study in unnecessary self-inflicted wounds. He has been cozying up to Wall Street, being a war hawk, ignoring blue collar America, using private email servers at the RNC for his family & staff, and the constantly revising statements about pretty much everything, and he has a total inability to give an coherent statement, let alone an “appealing campaign speech”. So whatevs. Bernie might have beaten DJT in a general, but it’s more likely that Drumpf would have clubbed Bernie to electoral death with the socialism stick. O’Malley/Chaffee/Webb/Lessig were never going to be more than also-rans.

      • Beowoof14

Yeah Bernie would have lost Bigly.

        • MissNomer

The Bernouts would still be saying it was rigged.

          Oh wait.

      • Dr. Rrrrrobotnik

I recall seeing an article where Trump’s headquarters had a file a book thick on Bernie, including a tape of him speaking at a rally in Nicaragua. Said speech was set against a backdrop of printed and shouted anti-American slogans. Pretty sure that tape would have just been on repeat on Fox for 4 solid months.

    • Poorly Behaved Pérsistanista

Don’t tell me, you were a Bernie supporter, amirite?

I am definitely not now, now was I ever, a Berner. I was 100% behind Hillary’s candidacy. And I would tone down many of the adjectives in the post (e.g., “terrible”). And I don’t buy the “any of [whom] would have beaten Trump” crap. But otherwise, I am inclined to agree. And I am not saying that Rooshia and Comey did not make the difference. Never in my life before have I felt like someone who is not technically the elected president deserves my allegiance more than the elected president. Not with Reagan, not even with Bush did I feel like their opponent was my “real” president. And with Bush that was a close call. But ultimately, I had to admit to myself, Bush was “my” president, whether I agreed with his policies or not.

    But now?…

True. I guess I mean that they seemed to at least try to self-correct there for a little while. Now it’s “Hey! Let’s hire a climate denier! Hey! Let’s do this masturbatory piece about Ivanka Trump! Hey! What if the editorial board concern trolls the entire country over Obama’s speech?”

Trump may have been thinking about a Fluffer Nutter sandwich is closer to reality.

      • Carpe Vagenda

So, is there something about the Times’ Trump coverage which brings the word fluffer to mind?

    • UncleTravelingMatt

He just found out Lincoln was a Republican, but he understands Jackson’s attitude toward the Nullification Crisis? It has to be true! It holds together so well!

    • Jennaratrix

Like that idiot even knew about the Nullification Crisis. Why is the NYT so willing to give him a pass? I’m sick to death of this “got to tell all sides and show no bias” mentality that means that the media isn’t reporting FACTS because they make someone look bad. If someone is a stupid shit, it’s okay to report “Stupid shit said this stupid thing and it’s wrong and stupid.” They don’t need to cover for him so we won’t think they’re biased. They are normalizing this … guy. I can’t take it.

      • Meccalopolis

It’s so absurd it could be some subtle trolling

      • Miles Monroe

Amazing, isn’t it, how their absurd contortions to present themselves as unbiased in the face of blatant lying and incompetency really just confirm their bias?

This is what #StillShePersisted looks like. It means coming back when even your fake allies try to cut you down.

    • SisterArtemis

Yes, absofuckinglutely! Thanks for writing that, because I wasn’t able to put into words what you captured.

This. This is what I need to remember. I’ve been down and staying away from certain “social” media because I just couldn’t deal with it. I could stand to follow her example and not go away.

      • SisterArtemis

This reminds me that, on That Terrible Nov. 9th, one of the most affirming things I saw, and one which helped me immensely, was Hillary’s concession speech. I was prepared to be devastated watching it, and though I did tear up a bit, I came away invigorated, shored up by her determination, and ready to Fight the Good Fight. She’s pretty amazing.

    • MissNomer

That’s why she is so admired. She just does not give up.

  • Sedagive ’em Hell

I just can’t watch. The election was one of those terrible moments when history wobbles on its axis and we get a world war or a genocide or an extinction event instead of progress.

If I had had children (and they had had children) I would tell them that, yes, we knew in our hearts and in our guts that something was terribly wrong, that it wasn’t going to be ok, and that we had to do something drastic to avert a disaster.

Right now we’re ramping up to the main event and oh goddess I hope we end up writing this history.

    • Courser_Resistance

      I feel you.

    • SisterArtemis

If I had had children (and they had had children) I would tell them that, yes, we knew in our hearts and in our guts that something was terribly wrong….

I and my daughter, on a daily basis, are trying to frame this whole shitshow for my 7-year old granddaughter in a way that acknowledges the shitshow, and keeps her from becoming apathetic or depressed, and instead, engaged in making a better world. It ain’t easy, let me tell ya….

      • Rasilom

Well keep it up! Smart folks like you wotking with the youngs are what we really need. Give them the ability to understand the situation and the critical thinking skills to fight back against the BS.

      • Sedagive ’em Hell

Good on ya (and yes – a tough job).

I keep a positive public face because there are folks who depend on me to be a rational, strong voice.

Privately (and anonymously) there’s a lot of cursing, spitting, and table-pounding.

      • aureolaborealis

        “So he’s a bad guy?”
        “Yes, pretty much.”
“So why did people vote for him?”
        “That’s a very good question.”

        • SisterArtemis

This is almost exactly the conversation I had with the 7 year old on the afternoon of Nov 9th:
“So is Donald Trump a bad man?”
“well, kind of. He says lots of bad things.”
          “Why did he win?”
“well… that’s a very good question…” [scrambling for a simple explanation of Comey’s moves, Hillary-derangement-syndrome, electoral college, soon gives up] “… well, a lot of people thought he’d help them, but I don’t think he will.”
“so… grandma… is it going to be bad?”

I kind of choked up at that one. Because, yes, it was going to be bad, and I didn’t even know how bad yet.

So what we talked about was bullying, and how Trump was kind of a big bully, like the bullies at school but with more power. And that our job was to stand up to the bullies, and stand by people who were getting bullied.

          I guess that’s still what we’re doing.

          • aureolaborealis

That’s pretty much the conversation we’ve been having with our 5yo daughter.

    • Dr. Rrrrrobotnik

We really are in uncharted territory, but I’m slightly heartened by the fact that 1) Trump’s incompetence defeats his authoritarian impulses, and 2) the Constitution was written with men like him in mind. He will do damage, that is beyond dispute. But my hope is growing that it can be limited.

      • Sedagive ’em Hell

I agree: he’s too incompetent to be truly effective, but I fear that his enablers (the entire GOP) are just corrupt and crazy enough to support his war on the Constitution. We are only a Democracy thanks to a social contract that they do not support.

As an environmentalist, the damage he does may well be incalculable in ways that will not become clear for a long time; we’ll lose a few species and a few ecosystems that might have been saved.

I suppose if we don’t all die in a nuclear holocaust we can call it a win.

        • Toomush_Inferesistance

I’m not sure even the cabal of Republicans can stomach rewriting the Constitution…

          • Sedagive ’em Hell

Right now that is the big question: how far will they go?

I don’t think even they know the answer.

It’s exciting, isn’t it? And by “exciting,” I mean “completely fucking terrifying.”

      • Sedagive ’em Hell

I still see that argument. Did these people not see all the times Trump casually talked about bombing the shit out of things? Did they miss the many times he said he wants to build up the military? What did they think he wanted to build more ships for? Do they not pay attention now?

        • Jennaratrix

    • janecita

      Could she do that?

      • Shibusa

Nothing would come of it. And Jonathan Turley pointed out a major weakness with a Hatch allegation: that no evidence was even suggested with regard to Comey’s intent to influence the election. Turley wrote that Painter “has no evidence to suggest that Comey wants to influence the election or favors either candidate. Intent is key under the Hatch investigations.”

        • janecita

          Thanks:-)

        • Dr. Rrrrrobotnik

That, and it doesn’t seem like Clinton can file anything. Only federal investigative agencies (like, ironically, the FBI) can bring a matter to the Office of the Special Counsel. TLDR: private citizens can’t file over a Hatch act violation.

        • whitroth

That’s bullshit. Comey KNEW there was an investigation of Russian, and possible coordination with the Trump campaign, yet CHOSE to go way beyond customary to write, in public, to Congress about Her Emails… and then, after the election, “nothing there”. That’s a prima facie case, like getting caught pointing your gun at a teller in a bank.

          • Shibusa

I don’t disagree. None of the ‘pundits’ seem to think the case would go anywhere. That’s all.

      • Zippy W Pinhead

even if she could file, it would go nowhere and would instead turn into another media shitshow that would distract from our ongoing goals of taking back congress and going after Donnie. She’d become the MSM’s newest bright shiny object and it would turn into a circus. She knows all this so it ain’t gonna happen.

[When Donald Trump spoke before the Republican National Convention this past July, he swore that “as your president, I will do everything in my power to protect LGBTQ citizens.”

Now, as president, Trump appears poised to use his power to do the opposite, and essentially sanction discrimination against the LGBTQ community

According to two senior administration officials who spoke with Politico, Trump is set to sign an executive order on “religious liberty,” allowing groups, individuals, and businesses to refuse to provide goods and services to people on religious grounds. Such measures have widely been viewed as thinly veiled attacks on LGBTQ rights.

The order’s signing would reportedly come on Thursday, to coincide with the National Day of Prayer.

Back when Hillz ran for the senate in New York her favorability ratings were in the 60s percent range. There were people who didn’t like her and when she won, she worked damn hard for the people of New York state and she represented everyone–the people downstate in NYC and the Republicans in upstate New York. She may not be the most exciting speaker in the world but her intellect is far superior to anyone else who was running. And I don’t want to hear shite from the purity jerks who made her out to be “the lesser of two evils”. On her worse day, she would never embarrass her country the way this spoiled brat jerk has done since he won the electoral college vote.

And Bill Maher should get kicked in the crotch every time he has Ann Coulter on his show. And not with votes either.

[The US Department of Justice is literally prosecuting a woman for laughing at Jeff Sessions
As attorney general, Jeff Sessions now heads the Justice Department.
    Updated by German Lopez@germanrlopezgerman.lopez@vox.com May 2, 2017, 2:30pm EDT

It is hard to believe this is happening, but it’s real: The US Department of Justice is literally prosecuting a woman for laughing at now–Attorney General Jeff Sessions during his Senate confirmation hearing earlier this year.

According to Ryan Reilly at HuffPost, Code Pink activist Desiree Fairooz was arrested in January after she laughed at a claim from Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL) that Sessions’s history of “treating all Americans equally under the law is clear and well-documented.”

But federal prosecutors have pushed forward with the case against Fairooz. As Reilly reported, prosecutors argue that “the laugh amounted to willful ‘disorderly and disruptive conduct’ intended to ‘impede, disrupt, and disturb the orderly conduct’ of congressional proceedings.” In court, they have tried to emphasize that the laugh was extraordinarily disruptive, with a US Capitol Police officer claiming that Fairooz laughed “very loudly” and people in the hearings turned around when they heard it.]

The only reason this seems weird is that Hillary has been so damn nice to this point. All through the campaign she smiled, smiled, smiled, no matter how much sludge was thrown at her. When the election was called for Donnie (oh, my stomach), she congratulated him in a cordial manner. She attended the inauguration and was civil to everyone. So this bit of being even slightly assertive seems out of character, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s overdue.

    • sw19wilson

I think the pressure’s off her now.
“Hillary” was an artificial construct. She’s a wonk, a backroom type who loves reading notes and annotating and doing all the nitty-gritty.
Sadly, most elections now are popularity/reality tv contests, and she looked stilted/fake (plus uppity bitch type bullshit). Obama was perfect for the modern social media era. HRC was a throwback to an earlier time, and also had skeletons/mud flung.
She wasn’t a perfect candidate, but fuck me, how did she manage to lose the electoral college to that fucker, it still baffles me.
Every key state she had to lose, she lost….somehow.

      • CatCafe #ShePurrsisted

Hello? “Hillary” was most certainly not “an artificial construct.” That’s what a poised, intelligent, hardworking, accomplished woman looks and talks like. And “how did she manage to lose”? She just faced a few obstacles, um, let me see: thirty straight years–three decades–of billion-dollar-funded horseshit, lies, fake attacks, accusations, fake “investigations,” and more lies; a craven media endlessly enabling and encouraging the lies; brutal voter suppression; grotesque gerrymandering; suspiciously “broken” voting machines, in particular in the exact tiny areas she “lost”; a troll army who succeeded in even warping google searches with endless lies and horrifying memes; her fellow “Democratic” candidate aiding and abetting the lies; a nasty streak of misogyny that’s still endlessly apparent in every story about her or Chelsea; the FBI, and RUSSIA, and she still won by 3 million votes.

        • Truthiness2U

That’s also what a woman talks like who has learned, as too many of us have, to be very careful in what she says, because it WILL be used against her.

Look at the crap Hillary is getting RIGHT NOW on Twitter, and on the air from the likes of Jake Trapper –STILL because while she she took personal responsibility for the loss, she also pointed out the other factors that contributed to it. Like oh, the Russian government working with WikiLeaks to fuck us over. Of course the MSM would have to admit they were complicit, useful idiots in shoveling that crap, day after day, after DAY! Which allowed Comey’s fuckery of, ‘ZOMG! EMAILS!!!’ to be effective. Though here again, Comey’s bullshit move wouldn’t have mattered if not amplified by the press to the degree it did. Which again, they can’t admit any mistakes –so they blame Hillary again. Saying she wasn’t REALLY accepting responsibility for the entirety of her losing.

Fuck them and fuck the fact that women have to tip toe around, and smile, but not too much. Be forceful, but not too much, and not in the wrong ways. And that yes, Hillary has a particularly on-steroids version of this, and has for 30 years.

Yeah, still angry. And the press isn’t letting me forget their part in this fuckery.

Absolutely, we agree – just a poorly-worded comment from me.
She was a bit stilted and stage-managed in her campaign persona (i.e. the “Hillary” candidate, rather than Hillary Clinton) that’s all I was saying, and that isn’t a knock on her.
I think we can also agree that she’s a lot more relaxed and ‘herself’ now.
Also Trump is a monstrous reality tv caricature, both on the hustings and in real life. I can only assume a large swathe of people voted for him as a joke, or they hate politicians that much.

      • Doug Langley

If you’re referring to Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, those states had Republican legislatures which used voter suppression to shut out Hillary voters. I don’t know how many, but it happened. Add to that the massive media demonization of her, the Russian hacking, and Comey’s meddling, it was all enough to tip the EC to the wrong person. It was no one thing, it was a perfect storm of malfunctions.

Just as well. You don’t want your birthday permanently associated with the election.

        • Lefty Wright

It wasn’t just through the primaries. Some of the Bernie Bros continued to slime her in articles and in comments until election day, and in many cases, up to today. Some liberal sites come to mind in publishing these articles. They acted like the primaries were still going on and the only race was between Clinton and Sanders, ignoring the fact that the only race was between Trump and Clinton. This site is not one of them, but here is a link to one of of Wonkette’s favorite muckrakers, HA Goodman, and stories published last fall. But as far as Bernie is concerned, this idiot does not exist so why should Bernie bother to address those attacks or tell Goodman to stfu. Goodman may be the most prolific spouter of bullshit, but he was by no means the only Bernie Bro leading attacks on Clinton well past the convention. But Bernie is only good at one thing, tearing down. Uniting does not seem to be in his vocabulary, as evidenced by his failure to rein in his fanatic followers.

About that Comey email thing: even Edwardio fucking Snowden said that the analysis of Weiner’s laptop, given the fact that they already had copies of nearly everything on it, shouldn’t have taken more than a few hours. A FEW HOURS over the week end by a couple IT guys. They could have announced on that Monday that there was nothing of consequence to be found. Instead,Comey waited a week so Trump could do maximum damage to HRC’s campaign by spewing lies about Emailz!Servors! at his at his nightly Deploracons. I just knew Comey was full of shit when he kept talking about the heroic efforts and long, long hours put in by all the FBI forensic computer analysts to check one hard drive the contents of which was already known.

    • lagomorphlover

Snowden is lying. He had contact w/Russia prior to stealing the files. Everything out of his mouth in some way benefits Putin. Putin desires Russian global hegemony, achieved by chaos here. It BENEFITS Putin for us to distrust our Intelligence community & gov. The FBI does have a problem in their criminal division. However, counter-intelligence is heavily compartmentalized & thus somewhat insulated. Comey was backed into a corner by Eric Prince, Giuliani, and subordinates in the NY office. Justice is moving slowly, but she’s coming. And she’s PISSED!

    • BigCSouthside

Being honest, it could be done by 1 person with basic data mining competency within a couple hours, especially given they had a key set of emails to check for dupes already. Wouldn’t matter if it was 10k emails or 500k

Give me 10k emails and at a BARE minimum I could tell you who sent what, when, who it was to, how many times, how many characters in each, any metadata, and any occurrence of any group of keywords grouped and ranked by priority you wanted in about an hour with the computer sitting on my office desk. I would bet the FBI has better shit than I do.

Only would get tricky with encryption, but this is a woman who had emails printed out so she could read em, not exactly cyber criminal material

  • Delu

The real Tragedy of the Comey incident? When it happened, Comey had not read the emails because he didn’t have authorization to, and he said as much.

But somehow that didn’t seem to matter to Americans, oh no. The contents of Hillary’s emails wasn’t important, Hillary having new emails on Abedin’s laptop that were not yet read? OMG!!!! VOTE FOR TRUMP!!!!

Hillary ultimately lost because the American people were ignorant dicks who lost their heads because of her having a few emails more that were NOT READ. Yeah that’s like totally a crime in America these days right?

And since then the emails HAVE been read already (happened some time after Comey’s announcement, too late to change anything), funny thing is, they were a nothingburger, but I never saw any sort of significant attention being paid to THAT story, by the media or Americans.

That proves that Americans care a lot about other’s emails, but not much about what’s in them.

    • shivaskeeper

The emails didn’t have to be “read” by anyone. Any halfway decent computer crimes lab can scan a couple of TBs in about 30 minutes to tell if there is anything important on a hard drive.

At the time he made the announcement they didn’t even have legal access to look at the drive at all. The search warrant hadn;t even been issued yet.

      • Delu

        That’s exactly my point.

They didn’t have a warrant, they didn’t have ANYTHING.

But the American people bought it and elected Trump.

So who exactly is to blame for that?

        • shivaskeeper

Comey, A possibly rouge field office in NY. Putin. The national level GOP for buying into this bullshit. The American public for not understanding how things work at even the most fundamental level and not having the basic curiosity to find out. The media for selling a false equivalency narrative. The American public for deciding the President, probably the hardest, most technical job on the planet, should go to whoever they would rather sit doen and have a beer with instead of the most qualified person. And the 46% of the American public who did;t bother to get off their ass and vote.

          • Delu

Oh what Comey did was both wrong and stupid, no doubt about that. It’s something he never should have done at all.

But what he did, didn’t FORCE the American voters to make up their minds about who to vote for. What he did was not a proverbial gun to the heads of America voters. It was simply an act akin to propaganda you’d see on Fox News in terms of its influential effects on voter intentions.

Voters could have disregarded his act completely, yet enough of them paid attention to it and BELIEVED in it to shift their votes away from Clinton and towards Trump.

The kicker of course is, as highlighted above, there was no RATIONAL reason for them to be influenced. The announcement made no mention of any sort of scandal, just a bunch of emails found, nothing whatsoever about their contents. If I were to release a statement saying I found emails on the laptop of a close aide to say a local politician running for reelection in a state, would that generate any attention? No because how strange would it be for a politician’s emails to be on the laptop of a close aide? If say those emails indicated said politician had been embezzling funds or something, THAT would be something that would generate both attention and influence.

But that wasn’t the case for Comey’s announcement, the contents of those emails were not revealed because no one knew what the contents were, and it was far from strange for those emails to be found where they were found. But it instantly became a big story that influenced American voters because apparently the not so strange story about emails on a laptop influences American voters for some reason!

And then they cast their votes for Trump. Comey’s announcement didn’t MAKE them do that. They CHOSE to do that just as they chose, against rationality, to be influence by COmey’s announcement when they rationally should not have been.

          • thixotropic jerk

I know where have I heard this before, let me see, oh yes- “WMDs Weapons of Mass Destruction.”
If you get primed for months over and over again you begin to believe anything. Saying that “but people voted for Trump” without acknowledging the context is disingenuous. You’ve made the same point now several times. Is that because you think we’re going to just roll over eventually and agree with you?

          • Delu

Oh I acknowledge that people were primed, but even that explanation is ridiculous in THIS CONTEXT.

Think about it, what’s really the crux of the email scandal, the emails themselves or the CONTENTS of the emails? According to the Trumpians wailing about classified information being compromised and such, it’s the contents, Hillary’s emails would be of no significance if no classified information were compromised according to those guys.

So, in this instance where the contents of the email were not even known when the announcement was made, how the FUCK did Americans get influenced by said announcement?

Even with enough priming beforehand, unless you’re saying it was so damned effective as to cause enough Americans to lose their capacity for rational thinking with regards to the emails, and even then the question remains, how the fuck did they allow themselves to get to that state? Where their rationality is so screwed over that suddenly the contents of emails don’t matter?

Things like Priming, things like the influence from Comey are only things that are successful TO THE EXTENT THAT THEIR TARGET AUDIENCE ACCEPTS AND BELIEVES IN THEM. They don’t force a change in psyche or opinion, they simply provide influence that any individual can choose to accept or discard.

With the Comey incident, enough Americans clearly embraced it while discarding their rationality in the process when they could have definitely done it differently.

If it was their choice to begin with, even at the priming stage, then how is the consequences of them being influenced NOT their personal responsibility?

          • thixotropic jerk

No one is saying people got forced to believe anything. A significant number of voters got swayed by the negative info they heard over and over and over and over. Is it their responsibility to think critically? Yes absolutely. But if I tell you something that you “know” isn’t true but you trust me a little thing called cognitive dissonance happens and now you’re not sure what to believe. No one is absolving people who voted for Trimp of their responsibility -quite the opposite. But you are ignoring how powerfully influencing lies that are told and retold are.

          • Delu

Oh I am aware that influence can be powerful…but rationality should always be stronger.

This isn’t a simple mater of peer pressure or anything like that. This is a matter of electing the next leader of the country. I believe, with regards to this outcome, it is fair to set a higher bar of expectation on an individual’s own rationality as opposed to the corrupting influence of external forces. They are significant sure, but if on such a matter such influences are enough to actually sway elections then what does it imply regarding the mental faculties and rationality of the voting population of the country as a whole? Not a lot of good would be my bet.

I did hold the American people to a higher bar of expectation with regards to their ability to choose their next President regardless of whatever influences (and there will always be influences). It is a test of sorts for the American people.

In my opinion, with their choice for President, Americans failed this test this time around.

          • redblack

well, until you’ve lived here and seen people texting or facebooking while driving, you will never understand what the altruistic among us are up against. social media can be used for good, but mostly it’s for the lulz here in US ‘merica.

like i said, there are some real fucking morons in this country.

          • Delu

Heh, I’ve seen such people in my own country too, as well as in other countries as well. It’s not something restricted to any one country.

If my country were in the same situation as America, I’d have the same opinion about it as I have for America, I’d also attribute the blame on the voters, including myself, for the outcome. As for any other extraneous influences, we can get to that after acknowledging that we royally screwed up as a people in the elections.

          • redblack

yeah, well i attribute the blame to corporate control of information, and the fact that money talks and bullshit walks.

the average american voter is someone’s demographic, and is not always rational, not usually informed, and not to be relied upon to do the right thing.

but they are on facebook and/or twitter!

          • Delu

“the average american voter is someone’s demographic, and is not always rational, not usually informed, and not to be relied on to do the right thing.”

And that there is the problem, if America’s citizens aren’t up to speed, then America can forget about being Great in future.

It all starts with the people and ends with them too. They need to acknowledge that at the very least. It would be a start.

          • redblack

that’s where the russian influence on social media kicked in.

            exactly. right. there.

look. most non-commenters on this mommy-blog would call me a purity pony. that’s fine.i’ve been voting (D-union) since before a lot of folks here were born.

but you, delu, are completely ignoring foreign influence on social media – funding for which was made perfectly legit thanks to citizens united – and the speedy influence it had on the mood of the electorate.

which is basically what HRC said above.

          • Delu

Yes that foreign influence, I know of it too.

My point is that, regardless of what sort of influence we are talking about, Russian or Comey’s, in the end, it’s still only as effective as their target audience allows for it to be. And that’s a CHOICE made by people, it’s not a forced choice, not a gun to the head.

That being the case, since it’s a choice freely made to embrace such influences and then act on them, why is it so difficult for Americans who were influenced to accept that it was their responsibility in both accepting such an influence and then acting on it?

There’s a lot of things wrong with such influence yes, but at the end of the day, if they don’t translate into voter choices they are of no significance.

And the only ones who can make that happen are the voters themselves. Why should not the main responsibility lie on themselves?

          • redblack

are you american? stright up. some of the things you’ve said make me think that you aren’t.

because if you are american, you’re completely ignoring how people in this country get (mis)information; how much peer pressure affects the average “well-informed” american’s opinion; and just how fucking stupid some people in this country are.

          • Delu

No I am not an American! :) Surprised?

But I DO want American voters to reflect on the outcome of the elections as being their fault, at least a significant amount of responsibility as being on them.

Yes there are “fucking stupid” people in the country, but is it not a problem if those “fucking stupid people” are enough to get a “fucking stupid” man into the whitehouse? I think it is.

But I think it’s a shame that overall American voters, regardless of whether or not they voted for or against the “fucking stupid” President, are blaming everyone else but themselves for it.

It would be far better that they start with acknowledging that the blame lies first and foremost with their choice to vote and then moving on from there. There’s plenty of blame and responsibility to go around, but not enough of it and not enough people are placing it on the voters who voted.

That means that it’s more likely that voters would make the same mistake again in future. I don’t want to see that happening.

          • redblack

i’m not in the least bit surprised.

in fact, i think you’re selling something.

          • Delu

I’m selling the idea that American voters should start the blame chain on the results of the election from themselves, then work their way outwards from there.

Not start from the outside and end up never reaching themselves.

          • thixotropic jerk

Except that’s not what’s happening but that’s what you think is happening

          • Delu

Oh that’s certainly what’s happening all right.

See the Bernie Bros blaming “Shillary”? How about those blaming Comey, Trump, Putin etc?

Lots of them abound, but you never ever hear them say “but ultimately, even if X and/or Y can be attributed blame for the outcome of the elections, it was we voters who cast the vote. And we as a collective whole, ended up voting for Trump.”

The blame simply remains with Trump, “Shillary” Putin, Comey etc and never seems to trickle down to the voters who cast their votes.

          • Drunken Interlocutor

I am an American who voted for HRC, but logic and unimpassioned reasoning lead me to agree with the above.

          • Dazza

Like you, I am not American. Since I am not American, I don’t have the right to assign or urge blame on the people most affected by the election. I will work to support them by financially supporting the ACLU, legitimate news outlets, Planned Parenthood, the NAACP and our Wonkette.

You are aiming to sow discord by insisting that shaming of voters takes place publicly. Why are you so interested in discord and disunity, hmmmm?

          • Delu

I insisted that shaming of voters take place publicly? Where the hell did you get that? Indeed it’s surprising that I even have to mention such. Why are voters not, of their OWN INITIATIVE, taking the blame for the elections instead of blaming everyone else? It’s an endemic problem and if it’s not addressed, can easily lead to the same things happening in the future.

Nothing I said precludes moving on from the elections, nothing I said opposes the notion of “resisting Trump. However if people don’t acknowledge their mistakes, they will never work to correct them, and if they don’t correct them, they will likely repeat them in the future.

That’s why I’m stating that voters have themselves to blame first and foremost for the results, overall they cast the votes (or chose not to) that determined the results of the elections, if they don’t acknowledge this, what’s to stop them from repeating the same over and over again in future?

If it’s never your fault, you’ll never want to change.

  • organic_mama

Badass! These videos make me so sad for our whole country. What could have been. :(

    • Delu

It certainly shows what could have been.

      But sadness? Pity?

The American people chose. And they chose without thinking (or they were using something, ANYTHING else but their heads when they were thinking). But they still chose, and one has to be responsible for one’s choices and actions (this is also something Americans have a problem doing).

So sadness? Not really. I think America and Americans got EXACTLY what they deserved.

Which was what they voted for.

      • Unregistered Hijabi Rockstar

But we voted for Hillary. :(

        • Delu

          Yes.

But Trump was also voted for by Americans.

          And he became President.

        • HooverVilles

          Us too.

      • HooverVilles

Um, ~3,000,000 more people voted for Hillary than for “the” Donald.
        Thanks GOTP gerrymandering.

          • HooverVilles

Yep, when the GOTPers talked about Obama and “FEMA camps” they were really projecting their behavior on to the “others”.

      • WomanInThePersistence

Not the majority of us. And really, stop being a jerk. This is not, actually, a pro-Trump website.

        • Delu

But American voters DID elect Trump, that’s still fact.

Yeah I know he lost the popular vote, got in because of an “archaic system” yadda yadda. But get the position of President he did, and he couldn’t have done it without American votes.

And anyone else is not going to see Trump as a product of an “archaic system” or of “low information voters” (unless they generalize “low information voters” as “all American voters”), they are going to see Trump as having been DEMOCRATICALLY VOTED IN BY AMERICAN VOTERS!

And that’s still technically true, despite arguments of archaic systems and low information voters being factors.

So Americans should really start taking responsibility and start considering Trump as a result of their collective vote. That Trump didn’t become President mainly because of Putin, or Hillary or Comey or Russia or Assange or Emails or Sanders or Jill Stein or whatever.

He became President mainly on the backs of American votes. (like how Hitler’s party gained enough German votes in the 1930s for Hindenburg to appoint him Chancellor of Germany) That’s a fact, that’s how the rest of the world would see Trump (they look at America and see not the American flag nowadays, but Trump) and that’s the way Americans BETTER start seeing Trump.

Or else they will vote in MORE Trumps in the future.

          • WomanInThePersistence

And blocked. Because I prefer to discuss things with people who are not assholes. You cannot possible loathe Trump more than I do, but you are frankly just a jerk.

GOTP gerrymandering, voter disenfranchisement and electoral college system = rigged (Donalds own wotds)

          • Delu

Which have been around since before 2008.

Never affected Obama’s elections at all. But somehow they did for Trump’s election.

            Why?

          • Fair voting act was struck down for this one. As opposed to those other ones.
Keep ignorin that lil tidbit of info…weird.

          • MissNomer

More likely she’s blocking you because you seem like an ill-informed jerkwad spouting unsubstantiated bullshit.

Because that’s why I’m blocking you.

          • Delu

So what sort of unsubstantiated bullshit did I spout specifically?

          • HooverVilles

Delu apparently does not understand the concepts of GOTP gerrymandering and disenfranchisement.

          • WomanInThePersistence

            Not my problem anymore.

          • HooverVilles

            Good decision!

          • WomanInThePersistence

Thanks. Every once in a while…

          • Delu

Oh I understand. It’s just that those things have been around much longer than just the 2016 Presidential elections.

In 2 previous elections before that they were there already. But in THOSE elections, they did not matter, and they didn’t matter because American voters then overwhelmingly voted for one candidate, Obama, in most areas, for such things to matter.

So, if those things were in place for 2 Presidential elections before 2016, and in those 2 previous Presidential elections, they did not matter as to the outcome of the elections, what could have changed between those elections and 2016?

Could it be….the choices of the American voters?

          • HooverVilles

Again ~ 3 000,000 MOAR people voted for Hillary than Donald!
Yes they have been around, but Trump lost the popular vote by a record.
That’s the result of increased gerrymandering and disenfranchisement.
            Прощай

          • Delu

Are the rules unfair? Perhaps, maybe the answer is even yes, I am of the opinion that it is.

Gerrymandering and Voter Suppression laws are indeed unfair with regards to influencing elections.

But that raises the question, how did America get such unfair procedures in the first place? How did they persist so long without getting removed unfair as they are?

Politicians passed them would be the answer and politicians kept them on without removing them, maybe even Trumpian Politicians (although I’m sure some Democrats have also been involved in this) to get more specific.

Then that raises yet ANOTHER question. How did these politicians get to pass such unfair procedures? Why were they not overturned even if passed? Why were there no calls to do so that succeeded or why were such politicians even elected in the first place? Why weren’t they canned and voted out for doing so?

Why indeed? Whose responsibility is it to do those things?

That’s right, the American citizens, the American voters. It all comes right back to them.

Those unfair procedures were also a result of the choices made by American voters. That they persisted was also a result of American voters to not get rid of them (or if they tried, not hard enough, which translates to not being good enough).

Ok maybe it’s those “low information Trumpian voters” subgroup that darned gone and done all this in a matter of speaking. But are they not Americans too? Are they not voters?

So yeah, people can always blame some other party, even other subfactions of their fellow voters for their political plight.

But as a single body, as American citizens as a whole.

You are responsible for the country you live in.

That includes the political system you have, and the President you elected.

          • thixotropic jerk

No one is saying people- not the majority- did not vote for Trumpy. Many did. But voters don’t exist in a vacuum they are only as good as they are well informed. No one is blameless but you keep harping on the voters like no others players are involved in the system. People who lied and did dirty tricks are also responsible and one could argue even more responsible because they preyed on the trust and ignorance of the voters.

          • Delu

I’m not saying that there were absolutely no other players/factors that were involved that influenced the results of the election no.

My point is that ULTIMATELY voters are the ones MOST responsible for the results of the elections.

Even as far as influencing factors are concerned, as I already repeatedly stated, these factors only work if voters CHOOSE to allow them to take effect.

          • thixotropic jerk

Since you are epically monomaniacal I’ll try this ex:
            I lie to you
            You believe me
            You act on my lie
Whom now is the MOSTEST RESPONSIBLE for the consequences of the act?
You want it to be the victim of the liar AKA the trusting one AKA The Voters
            And guess what I agree
But a very super duper close second is the liar
Which you seem to be discounting to the pint if not mattering because you want the voters to take ALL THE BLAMES
            And that’s not accurate

          • Delu

I want them to take MOST of the blame, not all, but hey I’d be happy to see them choose to take ALL of it too, inaccurate as that may be. Do you know why?

Attempting to make a change to correct one’s mistakes begins with one acknowledging that a mistake was made. Then also acknowledging that one is responsible, to a greater or lesser degree, for said mistake.

The greater the acknowledgement of responsibility for said mistake, the greater the onus and motive for one to work toward correct such a mistake. Inversely the less the degree of acknowledgement of responsibility for sake mistake, the less inclined one is to attempt change.

I mean how many people out there would do their best to change in order to avoid a mistake they acknowledge if they believe said mistake was mostly due to external factors not of their doing as opposed to if they believed that said mistake was MAINLY a result of their own actions?

That’s why I’d be more than happy to see American voters choose to take all the blame even if they don’t actually deserve to. This would mean a higher chance that they would work towards NOT REPEATING said mistake.

And at the end of the day, even if blame can be cast EQUALLY on both the influencing sources and those influenced, it is still those influenced that perform the actions that ultimately make everything in this whole chain of responsibility an issue to begin with.

If voters were exposed to Comey and all the other influences but chose not to act on them we would not even be having this discussion, that’s why the focus is on the voters. Overall influence isn’t something that any single individual or entity can have complete control over anyway.

          • thixotropic jerk

When somebody takes all the responsibility/blame it lets others off the hook/ be irresponsible which perpetuates the cycle you are raging against. Why would you think that is a solution? That’s exactly what the manipulators of this election want people to do and to some extent that is happening as the losers of this election fight amongst themselves. I’d rather we admit everyone involved has some degree of culpability. And that’s more accurate because the voters aren’t the only players in this game others are too with much more power and they have to be dealt with if things are going to change. It’s a nice quaint idea that the voters are responsible have all the power too but if that was true how did we end up in Trumpfuckistan?

          • Delu

Like I’ve said, I don’t want responsibility or blame to be taken away from parties who deserve such, credit where credit is due, blame as well.

However it would be much better if, whether it is accurate or not, the American voters place the blame and take the responsibility for the results of the elections on THEMSELVES first and foremost before looking to blame others (and yes, responsibility and blame abound on many different parties, not just the voters, so no problems with that).

That’s not what I see happening, and it’s disturbing because ultimately voters are the ones responsible for casting their votes after all, regardless of what motives and influences compel their final choice of the vote.

If they see the outcome of elections as due to influences out of their control or not of their responsibility then what does this say about how future elections would turn out? What does this say about how they will choose to vote in future?

          • Dazza

A more productive approach would be to stop assigning blame, and work to minimise Trumpian damage by building and organising resistance to the racism, sexism and classism of the GOP and their President.

It’s time to move on and build the coalition for the civilian defense of the Republic, promote the general welfare of US citizens, and protect the freedoms inherent in the first amendment.

          • Delu

Oh I didn’t say that one shouldn’t move on from the past, but the act of knowing where the blame, or rather the source of a problem lies helps to not repeat the same problem in the future.

You can resist Trump successfully today, but if no lessons are learned because no one acknowledged where the real problems lie with this last round of elections, what’s to stop your children or grandchildren from voting in another Trump?

          • Dazza

“Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof” Matthew 6:34

None of us can know the future. We can only fight the evil we see in front of us today. Let us lead by example and be just, kind, and fair minded in our struggle against the darkness of ignorance .

From a Christmas Carol: When Scrooge meets the Ghost of Christmas Present, he is shocked when two wild and ragged children tumble out from the giant’s robes.

He thinks they must belong to the giant, but he tells Scrooge that they are Man’s. He tells him the boy is called Ignorance and the girl Want.

“Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy…”

            From the Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/childrens-books-site/2015/dec/23/ignorance-and-want-why-charles-dickenss-a-christmas-carol-is-as-relevant-today-as-ever

          • Delu

We cannot know the future, but enough precedence and evidence has happened in the past to establish a fact that if we do not acknowledge our past or present mistakes, we are more likely to repeat them in the future.

Are Americans acknowledging that they screwed up in the 2016 elections? Or are they blaming Hillary or comforting themselves that Trump didn’t win the majority vote?

          • Ms.MLG on Maui

I have been trying to make a similar point for a while around here, and it hasn’t been well-received. I get what you’re saying. Even if Hillary had won the election, there are still millions and millions of people who voted for Trump. They don’t just go away because a Democrat wins, and neither do the horrible ideas which motivated that vote. That’s a big problem. We had 8 years of Obama. Look where we are now. That’s the thing keeping me up nights. Comey, Russia, gerrymandering…none of those explain the number of people who voted for that heap of garbage, and if he had received the number of votes he deserved, no force on Earth could have gerrymandered his winning into existence.

          • Drunken Interlocutor

Yep, and as recently noted, many of those people voted for Obama, then switched to the Orange Menace. One has to question why. If I were a strategist for the Democrats, I’d kindly ask Ms. Clinton to find a nice quiet place to retire. (This is NOT to suggest that she was imminently qualified for the role as POTUS, rather what she symbolises to an important voting bloc in the electorate makes her toxic.)

          • Ms.MLG on Maui

I don’t blame Hillary Clinton for people’s shitty decisions made out of fear, selfishness, ignorance, swallowing right-wing propaganda and misogyny any more than I solely blame Russia.

          • Drunken Interlocutor

Her loss is more like the number of factors which might cause certain types of illness, yet the exact cause cannot be ascertained: the patient smoked, drank heavily, never exercised, and worked in a toxic chemical environment. Without a hint of irony, I’ll wager that the pre-existing conditions she demonstrated made it a very tough row to hoe.
And for the record, I voted for her.

          • MissNomer

            Because misogyny. DUH.

          • Drunken Interlocutor

That’s not outside the realm of possible reasons, but I should point out the voters who previously voted for Obama but chose Trump in this election. Are they overwhelmingly misogynists? My guess is no. In fact, I’d wager that most people who would vote for Obama would also vote for the right female candidate.

          • cosmiccowgirl

And if a Democratic strategist kindly asks Ms. Clinton to find a nice quiet place to retire, she will kindly suggest that he go fuck himself. She will continue to fight for women’s rights, thank you for your concern. (I assume, based on her entire existence up to now.)

          • Drunken Interlocutor

She’ll likely serve women better by doing exactly that outside of the White House (though this is stating the obvious).

          • Could it be this was the first presidential election since the Fair Voting Act was struck down?

          • Delu

And that act had specifically influenced the results of the election how?

It could have influenced the elections enough that Trump won? But did it?

That also doesn’t explain how so many people voted for Trump too. Those weren’t suppressed votes at all.

          • He actually became president mainly on the backs of GOP voter suppression, GOP propaganda, complicity from Comey et al, and Russian interference.
Hitler had an overwhelming majority on his side by the time he wrested complete control. Trump never did.

          • Delu

Hitler actually didn’t have an overwhelming majority on his side when he faced elections. He didn’t even get a majority at all, because if he did, the Nazi Party would have become the ruling party of Germany right away. Instead it was the incumbent party under Hindenburg that won the majority and they kept power, that’s why President Hindenburg was still President Hindenburg after the elections.

What DID happen was that although the Nazi’s didn’t win the majority, they won enough to gain significant political clout in Germany’s then-parliament, which left Hindenburg no alternative but to appoint Hitler Chancellor. That’s how Germany had a Chancellor Hitler and not a President Hitler at that time.

It was after Hindenburg’s death that Hitler acted to seize power through events like the Reichstag Fire that gave him the excuse to pass emergency laws giving himself more powers. This led to him eventually consolidating his position enough to seize full power for himself and become dictator.

Trump didn’t get a majority either, the only difference was that his non majority was still enough to get him the President’s position, probably because of that Gerrymandering you speak of.

Of course, he’d never have stood a chance even with the Gerrymandering if he didn’t have the volume of votes he did.

Gerrymandering doesn’t explain where those votes came from.

          • Dazza

Hilary won the popular vote. The difference was the Electoral College system.

            Please see http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/12/20/why-electoral-college-landslides-are-easier-to-win-than-popular-vote-ones/

          • Delu

            Yes, I know.

But Trump ultimately became President because the popular vote was not considered over the electoral college.

And he could only do so with at least a significant volume of votes. Like Hitler he didn’t get a majority, but what he got was enough.

And therein lies the problem, that’s my point there.

          • Dazza

Delu, the American constitution mandates the Electoral College system. There was no option to choose the popular vote. Trump did not get “a significant volume of votes.” He got 70-odd thousand individual votes in three critical states in the Electoral College weighting.
Your point is not made at all.

          • Delu

“Trump did not get “a significant volume of votes.” He got 70-odd thousand individual votes in three critical states in the Electoral College weighting.”

But he got those votes right? And who says they are not a significant volume of votes? By the standards of the Electoral College, they were. He won based on that after all. You’ve admitted that the Electoral College was established by the constitution. If you are implying that the standards set by the Electoral College are not suitable, then what sort of standards, which would not be listed in the constitution, would be suitable for Presidential elections?

Even the Electoral College would not have gotten Trump the win if he did not have those votes you spoke of above, yet belittled, those votes were what won him the elections. And do you agree that it is indeed a problem if someone like Trump can actually get that number of votes, even though they are not the majority, to win through the electoral college?

Trump DID get those votes and THAT’S the problem right there, why did American voters give him those votes? Why is everyone who opposes him harping on the fact that he didn’t win the majority vote yet ignoring or denouncing the fact that he DID get enough votes to win the electoral college? Does it make them feel better about losing the elections? Possibly, but it doesn’t make the fact that Trump did win the elections, that he won it through the Electoral College and he won it with those votes you mentioned but disregarded!

That’s ignoring a problem right there. How the fuck did this guy get those votes? What can we do to ensure that no one else of a similar caliber in the future doesn’t repeat such a performance?

But no, it’s MUCH easier to ignore this wile comforting yourself with the notion that “hey at least he didn’t win the majority vote”.

            But he became President anyway.

          • Dazza

“Significant volume” implies a majority of votes.
I don’t comfort myself with platitudes. In fact, I have advocated action.
Picking over the ashes of who is to blame inflames arguments and differences between people. Strengthening community by building resistance – without demanding contrition – will do more to build to a progressive victory in 2018 and 2020.

          • Delu

Knowing where blame lies indicates knowing the source of the issue at the very least.

At the end of the day, it is still the voters who cast their vote.

If voters are casting their vote for an individual like Trump, it’s still a democratic vote by all means, but it implies disturbing things about the population of voters.

Just as how the Nazis gained a significant number of votes, not enough for a majority, but enough to have Hindenburg appoint Hitler Chancellor, signaled issues with regards to the voting body of Germany at that time.

It has also provided us with a study of issues as well with regards to voters and voting, but it took a ruinous war for Germans to learn from their mistakes, deal with them and move on.

What would it take for Americans to even acknowledge their mistake and responsibility much less deal with them?

          • Dazza

I am deeply reluctant to assign too close a relationship between post-Weimar Germany and 21st century America.
It is not the task of non-Americans to demand an accounting from Americans. The comment section of Wonkette is not a war crimes tribunal.
As a Canadian, and as an Australian, there are many aspects of my fellow citizens’ voting patterns I deplore – but I do not demand that they recant publicly (for that is definitely implied in your demand for ‘acknowledging their mistake’) and accept individual responsibility in things like the detention of undocumented sea-borne migrants in deplorable conditions on Nauru (for example). That would guarantee me a long shouting match to no purpose. I can’t change their minds with my arguments. Instead, I try to elect a different government and work within my own party affiliation to change such cruel policy.

          • Delu

No one is saying anything about public recanting, you’ve missed the point again.

What really matters is that Americans are able to, on a significant scale, do 2 things:

1.) Acknowledge that the results of the elections rests primarily on their shoulders, they do not have to declare this out loud or even declare this at all, so long as they truly do acknowledge this. Right now they are declaring in public that they do NOT acknowledge this.

2.) Acknowledge that the results stem from problems in the voting base itself, meaning that the fact that there were voters who actually voted for someone like Trump is in itself a problem that should be looked into, not comfort themselves with notions of Trump not winning the popular vote and then ignoring this entirely.

The events in Germany and America have no relation to each other save in one aspect, and this is also true of any country with democratic elections. In a free and fair election where the votes have not been known to have been tampered with, the onus of responsibility for the outcome of the election lies on the voters themselves, and they should take cognizance and responsibility for it. Only then can it be considered truly a democratic system where responsibility and power lies with the people

          • Dazza

Delu, “Acknowledge that the results of the elections rests primarily on their shoulders, they do not have to declare this out loud or even declare this at all, so long as they truly do acknowledge this. Right now they are declaring in public that they do NOT acknowledge this.”

You have just contradicted yourself in two sentences. You ARE demanding public recantation, based on your second sentence. How else can the voters satisfy your need for a change of heart unless it is in public?

          • Dazza

Significant = of a noticeably or measurably large amount

            Volume = a considerable quantity

          • Dazza

Jen A didn’t speak of gerrymandering. You did.

          • Delu

Yeah, there were a few others in this thread that mentioned the Gerrymandering, therefore I also raised it here. I agree that’s a thing, but even Gerrymandering needs the votes to actually matter. If Trump didn’t gain the support of the Republican voters in those Gerrymandered districts, it would not have mattered at all.

          • Dazza

In presidential voting – which is national – gerrymandered districts are not relevant.

          • Delu

They aren’t? Then why are these districts key to determining if one has won a state, which then determines the number of electoral college votes one gets?

          • Dazza

They aren’t. “Since the election of 1824, most states have appointed their electors on a winner-take-all basis, based on the statewide popular vote on Election Day. Maine and Nebraska are the only two current exceptions, as both states use the congressional district method.”

            Please see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electoral_College_(United_States)

          • Serai 1

No, they didn’t elect him. Stop being a fucking asshole about this. We’re not your embittered little fellows, still licking your wounds over LOSING the primaries. Go cry to your mama, don’t cry here, Sparky.

          • Delu

            ?

Did you even read what I wrote?

Did Trump NOT gain enough votes to become President?

Did those votes NOT come from American voters?

      • Dazza

They voted for Hilary. She won the popular vote.

        • Delu

Enough voted for Trump for him to become President.

That’s actually what Americans should be concentrating on instead of comforting themselves that “at least he didn’t get the majority”. Because the majority wasn’t needed fro him to become President.

          • Dazza

            For what purpose?
No. Resistance is the best thing to focus on now.

          • Delu

For the purpose of not electing another Trump in the future.

          • Dazza

Yes. But also to build real communities and a shared sense of purpose in an age fractured by propaganda and social media.

          • Delu

The 2 are not mutually exclusive. Why ignore one just to focus on another?

          • Dazza

Which two? Your meaning isn’t clear.

  • laineypc

Dunk on Trump from time to time? Howsabout she forms a dream resistance team with Michelle and Barack, Bernie, Liz and I dunno…who else? They get us grassroots people up and strategic like. I like NDGT but that’s just me. We need someone for science, though.

    • Chris

Bernie is too busy trash talking the Democratic Party to be available.

    • MissNomer

Not Bernie, please. We don’t need any more Bernie.

This would probably not be the best day to start watching THE HANDMAIDS TALE …

    • WomanInThePersistence

      I feel the same way.

    • beavertank

I made the mistake of finally reading it when it came on Amazon Prime Reading about a month ago. The timing could have been better.

    • Panika MCD

get a copy of the book and skip to the epilogue.

  • guest

I haven’t read the book Shattered and have no intentions to but it has been thrown at me on comment boards as to why Clinton lost. Most of the comments were how Clinton’s campaign made up the Russian hacking the day after the election to give her cover. If this is in the book it can’t be true because the Russians hacking the DNC was revealed in the Summer of 2016. So is this in the book? If it is can people be that stupid?

    • Delu

      Yes they can.

      They believed Comey after all.

      • Pisto75666

And that their jobs were/are coming back.

        • Delu

Ignore the fact that he spouts conspiracy theories and denies reality HE WILL BRING OUR JOBS BACK!!!!!!!

  • DensityDestiny

The authors of Shattered are fucking parasites. The idea that she lost because she didn’t have a marketable reason for running is just…. I mean…. What does that even mean???? How about I have the experience, knowledge and connections to run the country. We’re not talking about selling a car.

    • Delu

And did Trump have a marketable reason for running? Did Shatted go into that?

      • beavertank

Racism is pretty marketable these days.

        • Delu

Oh, well I suppose there’s that.

That and Xenophobia amongst other things.

          • beavertank

            Sexism sells.

        • Drunken Interlocutor

Bam! We have a winner. AND HRC called those people ‘Deplorables’, which cost her a lot of votes…oh, and ignoring the Rust Belt…and Comey’s snipe hunting..and Vlad the Autocrat’s Excellent Adventure in the US Election.

          • ltmcdies

how does one loose people who weren’t voting for you anyway.

MSM…time to wrap your heads around a concept…there is sadly a significant portion of white America who has …shall we say…”racial anxieties” to go with those “economic” ones. They were not voting for the Democrats….period…got it.

          • Drunken Interlocutor

One ‘looses’ (sic) voters by any number of ways, which in this case (according to the latest data) resulted from the perception that the Dems economic policies under HRC would put the ‘Deplorables’ at a greater disadvantage. The data strongly suggests that many of those same people voted for Obama the last time around. Got it? Now the race card: it works in plural democracies everywhere. See Rabushka and Shepsle on ethnic outbidding. Sometimes it’s about race, sometimes gender, sometimes age, sometimes experience, sometimes about the barbarians at the gate. Some voters are swayed by all sorts of things that–to you and I in our infinite internet-based wisdom–see as preposterous.

  • BigCSouthside

I just hate that more each day comes out showing how this woman got completely fucking screwed over.

She may not be the most likeable, but she would have been a damn good president

    • Delu

A damned sight better than Trump at least.

      But America chose.

They made their bed, now they must lie in it.

      • BigCSouthside

America chose her. An archaic system the over represents stupid low information fuckeads made trump president.

        • Delu

That archaic system never mattered for the previous Presidential elections in 2008 and 2012. This time however ENOUGH AMERICANS voted for Trump (or not ENOUGH AMERICANS voted for his opponent, glass half empty or full depending on how you see it) in the right places to make it matter.

And the archaic system isn’t responsible for those “enough Americans” voting for Trump.

          • BigCSouthside

Gore. I’m 30. Twice in my life a democrat has been denied the presidency despite winning more votes

          • Dazza

            Good point.

    • Akat

Not likeable? Every word out of her mouth makes me love her more. She’s like the infinite capacity to love however many children you end up with.

      • Delu

The Hillary Hate was real though, in fact it still exists.

        • They hated her ever since she DARED to do something being first lady that was not reading to kids or saying no to drugs. She tried to affect policy and give people health care.
And they hated her for that. They spit on her, a first lady, for trying to give them health care.
Let that sink in, and then one of the apologists come at me with how Dems should work with these people.

          • Delu

Exhibit #A of the influence of Hillary Hate is actually the effects of the Comey incident.

I doubt that the effects and aftermath of that would have even been the way it was without the pre-established Hillary Hate.

          • BigCSouthside

Bingo. 30 years of her being called a criminal blows comey and the entire email thing out of proportion. That shit would have gotten almost no coverage if attached to a less villainized candidate

        • MissNomer

But it is not based in reality.

          • Delu

Hate doesn’t necessarily need to be based on reality (though it can be).

        • Akat

By latent misogynists and those buying into the Fox News echo chamber, I would argue.

    • Parque_Hundido

She was awful in every way imaginable. You elected Trump by insisting we support Hillary McShitstain. Grow up. Realize you supported a loser. Learn from it and move on.

      • Delu

        Uhh what?

Electing Trump by insisting that you support Hillary? How is that a thing?

So Hillary was a loser, doesn’t that mean the rest of the people she beat were worse losers than her?

        • Parque_Hundido

I was a delegate at a caucus where Shillaries lost the vote but took the delegates. That’s how.

      • Dazza

She won the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes. Must we explain ‘loser’ to you?

        • Parque_Hundido

Yes, that would explain why your shitty candidate is currently in the White House.

Leave politics to the grown ups and STFU.

          • Dazza

Not my candidate, hon. When you get an education, and some manners, we’ll talk. Until then, you’d best leave parsing politics to those with more wit and manners.

          • Parque_Hundido

you know what’s over? the primary. it was really over on 3/15/17, but you just can’t grow up and realize that you supported a loser. we supported someone who won the popular vote by 3 million. learn from it and STFU.

        • Parque_Hundido

You backed a shitty candidate. You elected Trump. And you’re now blaming the Russians for your awful choices.

There ya go. Reality bites hard, and it’s biting you right in the a$s.

          • Panika MCD

really, Bernie lost a long time ago and you still can’t let go of it. it’s biting you hard. I can see that. but it’s really not my problem that you’re such a thin skinned little brat. go cry to your mommy, maybe she will care.

          • Parque_Hundido

You elected Trump. Go die already.

          • Panika MCD

I voted. you bitched. seems to me that you didn’t do enough and he got elected. got it? you don’t blame the people who worked. you blame the people who sat on their little tushes sharing propaganda brought to us by Russia. HEY! THAT’S YOU! you elected Trump. congratulations.

          • Panika MCD

saying such things does not make it true. but Bernie did lose the primary and that can only be your fault. sorry that bitching on mommy blogs and wishing people death is never going to change that.

          • Parque_Hundido

It’s not my saying it that makes it so. It’s the fact that you actually elected Trump. Now go die already.

          • Panika MCD

you keep thinking that saying I elected Trump will somehow retroactively elect Bernie and that telling me to die will make it so. it doesn’t work that way.

          • Parque_Hundido

You’re already dead. You just haven’t noticed. Your corpse smells, I’d like it removed along with your hideous pantsuit. Die.

I know when you have such serious disorders it’s not uncommon to feel persecuted, be we’re not your enemies and neither are the staff at whatever facility you occupy. you also have quite the limited vocabulary. have you noticed that? it points to you having a below average education–probably because you were not diagnosed until late. poor baby. poor little persecuted you. better get out there and do your best impression of persecuting others now. you’ll never stay exactly where you are if you don’t!

          • Parque_Hundido

Just shoot yourself already. Spare us the tedium of your continued existence.

          • Parque_Hundido

          • Parque_Hundido

I’m sorry, where did I say that? You’re having trouble with the whole reality v. Fantasy thing. More Thorazine?

It has absolutely no basis in fact. Everyone who’s worked with her likes her, even many Republicans. I adore her. I always have. Millions of people do.

      • BigCSouthside

She’s likeable to someone like me who is an analytical detail oriented wonky type, but most people aren’t. She’s smarter than obama, but obama was more relatable to most people. That’s what I meant

    • Beawild

      I like her just fine.

Being able to keenly see things from a great distance before anyone else can is bad? It’s a good thing we don’t have a raptor as our national symbol or anything!

At some point, we have to accept that the Easter bunny is super fun but not real.

The Shillaries put Trump in office. Pee on Santa’s lap all you like, it’s still a fake suit and you’re not going to get that shiny new bike by sheer force of hope.

AWWWWW. Poor widdle boy got his widdle balls all hurty?

Yes, little boy. This is what YOU are reduced to when YOU choose to live with YOUR head up YOUR ass – EVERYONE WILL LAUGH AT YOU.

Really fun irony of calling Hilary a shitty candidate when theirs, even though he was supposedly so much better, couldn’t even manage to get nominated.

          • IdRatherBeDancing

And we are the deusional ones — eyeroll

          • Pisto75666

Better to be delusional than without morals, I always say.

          • Serai 1

Typical adolescent behavior – they’re the only ones who know anything, and the rest of the world is just jealous and wants to bring them down. The most embarrassing aspects of the hippie culture mingled with the worst of the yuppie entitlement and the grunge disinterest in actually learning anything. Makes for a deeply tedious mix.

          • Pisto75666

I wouldn’t say the grunge generation was disinterested (I grew up in that generation and a lot of us were politically interested, even as teenagers) I just think we didn’t necessarily have the tools yet to really attempt to fix anything. Sad to think that some of us are the parents of the generation coming up now, and not to say all of THEM are disinterested. It just seems like they’re the most obvious.

          • Parque_Hundido

Are you formally on the Trump team?

If you’re not, you should know that we Democrats hate you. Now STFU.

Listen, fucktard. YOUR GUY WAS NEVER A DEMOCRAT. You’re a sorry-ass troll, looking to stir up shit. Trump voter? YOU gave us Trump, you pathetic little crybaby pud-pulling toddler. Grow up, sit down and shut up.

            *BLOCK*

          • Parque_Hundido

Yes, we hate ALL of you. Not just your shitty loser candidate. Please die.

    • Delu

But the American voters did not have anything to do with Trump getting in office. It was all “Shillary”. Right sure, We all believe you(not).

Your only reasoning for how Hillary “put Trump in office” was that she was an awful candidate.

But so far, like Trump you’ve simply said it, but not shown it.

Anyone can say they will “Make America Great Again”.

As America has since found out, not everyone, especially the guy who said it, even knows what it means let alone can walk their talk.

      • Parque_Hundido

Sweetie, we had an election. Your shitty candidate lost because DEMS VOTED FOR TRUMP. I know, math is hard. If it’s too hard, leave it to the adults.

        • sgt. jmk of the résistance

          65.8 million voted for Hillary.
          62.9 million voted for Trump.
54% of the people who voted rejected Trump.

          Math.

          Take your own advice.

          • Parque_Hundido

Yeah, that’s why your candidate is in the White House. Dumba$s.

          • sgt. jmk of the résistance

Your tantrum here is just your way of not taking responsibility for your own vote, isn’t it?

It’s the typical stupidity of the dishonest manbaby – if you can blame someone else fast enough, no one will blame you for the mess you made.

          • Parque_Hundido

Poor Shillary, this is pretty much the last place on earth you’re tolerated, isn’t it?

          • sgt. jmk of the résistance

I realize logic is too hard for you. Thinking seems to be also too. And learning.

You make it clear with every pouty word you post that you know absolutely sweet fuck-all about Secretary Clinton. Since the campaign went on for months and you had over a year in which to lift up your lazy-ass fingers and do even the teensiest bit of research, your utter ignorance about her history and her platform is either due to a deliberate and arrogant choice to remain ignorant, or to some kind of mental deficiency.

Mental deficiency I could excuse…but funnily enough, I never have any difficulty identifying idiotic, misogynistic Berners who were too good to do their own research and got all of their ideas about Hillary Clinton from Bernie’s Dank Meme Stash, and recognize that I’m replying to one of those asswipes right this minute.

Your deliberate choice to remain ignorant puts you right in line with Trumpers. Congratulations.

            Now go fuck off.

          • iceweasels

          • Parque_Hundido

    • aaaccctttuuualllyyyy a combination of 30 years of Hillary hate (because she dared to try to give people single payer heathcare 30 years ago!), Russian interference and good ol’ fashioned Greed head complicity put Trump in office.
      So there is that!

      • Parque_Hundido

So, basically, delusional denial. Got it. You backed a shitty candidate and elected Trump. Yet you still want to say “yay me”. And you don’t see a problem?

        • Well, actually, I backed a terrific candidate! One I believed in and thus, backed :) But he lost the primary, having got way less votes than Hillary, which is how voting works, and then he endorsed Hillary, so I voted for her.

          • H0mer0

[can Bernbot stop with the ad hominem attacks and false attribution? (Hillary did not enact “welfare reform.” That would be her husband. Talk about delusional.]

    • shivaskeeper

In plain language, explain what is the reason she lost. Please no terms like Shillaries, or name calling.

Just a plain and simple answer is what I’m asking for.

      • Drunken Interlocutor

        The Electoral College

        • Delu

And the votes for Trump that went with it.

          • Drunken Interlocutor

It amazes me the lack of general understanding on how it all works in the US election system. Once the outraged receive remedial civics training, a viable solution might be brought about—or at least, a sound (er) strategy for the next election.

          • Chris

3 million more people voted for Clinton. How does it feel to personally responsible for putting the whole world in danger?

      • Parque_Hundido

Shillaries backed a shitty candidate who lacked a plan for addressing the economic stagnation that most of the country has faced for the past two decades. Despite being confronted with shitty poll numbers, Shillaries abused DNC resources to defeat the only viable candidate. In so doing, Shillaries elected Trump. Now they point tomRussia rather than their own shitty choices as the cause of their problem.

        • shivaskeeper

I asked you for plain answer with no name calling. Was that to hard for you to understand? I have to assume Bernie was “the only viable candidate”. I have to make the assumption since you didn’t name your choice. Here are some follow up questions for you. Keep it civil please. No name calling.

Why did Bernie not run as an Independent to begin with? The Greens and Libertarians were able to field candidates. Why should the DNC have supported an Independent who declared as a Democrat just to run and is back to being an Independent? Why should the DNC, or anyone else have supported him after he lost the primary and was not the candidate? After it was clear he was going to lose the nomination mathematically he got several concessions to the Dem platform, he himself backed Hillary. Is his word not good enough for you to back her as well? How do you justify voting for Trump instead of Hillary if you were a Bernie supporter? Trump is pretty much the antitheses of everything Bernie claims to stand for.

For right now we’ll ignore 30+ years of disinformation about Hillary. some serious gerrymandering and voter suppression, and a fairly massive, if not particularly sophisticated, PSYOP and Information Warfare campaign by a geopolitical adversary in which it increasing appears that a national political party willingly abetted. Among other things we might be able to get to if you can keep your words civil.

It’s not that you disagree, it’s how you disagree. I’m giving you another chance to try this using your civil words.

          • IdRatherBeDancing

Don’t hold your breath for civility — anyone who uses “Shillary” (so original) is someone who masturbates in the back of a darkened theatre because, uhm, who would want to have sex with him/her.

          • shivaskeeper

I have no issue with disagreement, but I expect it to be somewhat civil. If it is a troll, I expect it to show its work beyond some talking points so I at least know it put some thought into its position.

          • Parque_Hundido

You are a Shillary. Sorry you don’t like it, but it’s what you are. We won’t forget it. Now STFU.

          • shivaskeeper

Hey asshole, you’re the one who came here spouting your nonsense. No one here went looking for you. You looked for us. I have to think it’s because you need to periodically remind people how pure and angel like you are. What you have is name calling and nothing to back it up since all I did was asked you a few simple questions which you were unable to answer. That tells me you are either mentally deficient or you never actually thought about what you claim to believe. Either way, you still have nothing.

At this point you have to assuage you guilt for either not voting at all or voting for Trump like a child who got told “No” and threw a tantrum because “That’ll show them for not seeing the purity of my chosen candidate” or you threw away your vote on someone who wasn’t on the ballot, or Stein who may as well not been on the ballot. In any case Trump is squarely on you and yours. You went out of your way to help cause this. All the people who get hurt or die from this are on you. Any civil rights lost are on you. The next war is on you as well. When that one kicks off, I doubt you’ll be in line at the recruiting station. All the blood is on your hands. You, if you are in fact a progressive at all and not just another bot, are the left’s version of the Tea Party. Death before compromise as all the real adults do. As long as you, personally, don’t get hurt who cares, right?

As for your threat to me? Seriously? Your not going to forget? Be still my heart. I am scared now. Could I possibly share your safe space with you? You know, in your mom’s basement.

          • Parque_Hundido

Seems like you might need a visit from an occupational therapist to teach you a few tricks. You Shillaries are uniformly dim and socially disabled. Pity.

          • Panika MCD

you’re the one not accepting the results of a primary held a year ago, threatening people and claiming to own a website you don’t own here, Princess Bernie Briefs.

          • Parque_Hundido

I own more than all the voices in your gray haired head can imagine.

          • Panika MCD

I’m 32, stupid. you’re not going to rid the world of me that easily. sorry I don’t fit your cookie cutter image of what an HRC supporter is, but I take substance over screaming. sorry that you haven’t discovered real policy and how to get it passed–neither has Bernie, so you have that in common!

          • Parque_Hundido

You’re at least 75, sclerotic and post menopausal. I’ll pray you break a hip and die trying to push the button I hope you can’t reach. I’m hopeful you’ll die a slow, agonizing death.

          • Panika MCD

wow. you have gone full alternative-fact there, haven’t you?

          • Parque_Hundido

Just observing reality. Please i.e. Quickly.

          • shivaskeeper

Sure guy, whatever, wandering in and leaving a few comments makes it yours. You know you are a scary sounding keyboard warrior.

Sounds like I hit a nerve there Trump voter. Purity pony FTW. Your cunning arguments have convinced me of the error of your ways and reinforced the idea that you are an actual moron that probably has to be reminded to breath on occasion lest you suffocate. If you want the last word so you can flounce off and claim a win, just let me know. I might even let you have it. It won’t matter in the long run. If the hammer falls because of your actions you claiming moral purity and an internet chat thread win will count for a lot, I’m sure. That blood is still going to be on your hands.

You know, one of the differences between us, aside from the fact that I can actually articulate a position I hold because I put some thought into it, is I’m not ashamed of my vote. You seem to be trying to compensate for your shame. You also have not even attempted to answer the perfectly reasonable questions I asked earlier.

No threats this time, so good for you.

          • Panika MCD
          • shivaskeeper

it’s better than the contagious home school crazies (not the home school sane people) and Scientologists in this hearing.

          • shivaskeeper

Well, pretty much everything would be. Sorry you’re the one going stuck covering that one.

          • Panika MCD

we’re running low on reporters right now and it’s session crunch time. I had IGR this morning and it was just 5 MUD bills so we were done lickety split. but the House put a bunch of hearings on adjournment and, because there’s a deadline coming up, Dems were doing some running out the clock stuff so we didn’t get to the House committees we needed to double up for until after 8 pm. I had a bunch of “parental rights” bullshit bills and one really good one regarding training for school resource officers.

          • shivaskeeper

The combination of rabid homeschoolers and scientologists would most likely have me run screaming from the room. Then I would have missed all the rest as well.

          • Panika MCD

that’s why I’m in the office…you would not believe what I found out about the proximity to my office of a certain someone I told you guys works in my building. I thought he was one floor up…turns out the office he’s working with is one door over.

          • shivaskeeper

2nd reply. You on the open thread now? It’s slowing down a bit. The only reason I was back here is that chuckles there responded to me personally and I’m not inclined to suffer fools.

          • Panika MCD

            I’m about to go home.

          • Panika MCD

there was another good bill about getting data on the use of certain disciplinary actions by schools. right now we only have county level data.

          • shivaskeeper

As in county schools only? Or school districts in particular districts?

          • Panika MCD

no, the info was from the county juvenile detention facilities rather than the schools or school districts.

          • Parque_Hundido

You elected Trump. You don’t get a say anymore. Just go die already.

          • shivaskeeper

Back again purity pony? Listen up fuckstick as this is my last reply so you can have the last word if you try again. Blood is going to be on your hands.

Unlike you, who actually voted for DJT, I’m still not ashamed of my vote. You seem to not understand that the mean old Democrats did not force you to vote for him. You choose to do that all on your own when you failed to understand how primaries work, especially closed primaries. When you choose to have a melt down akin to the “Leave Brittany alone” kid and teach us all a lesson by voting for the antithesis of your preferred candidate. When you failed to grasp that your preferred candidate wasn’t as popular as you thought.

You think your purity, I mean selfishness, was so important that the rest of us can go get fucked since you didn’t get your way. You don’t understand how compromise works, like an adult. You probably had a good idea ahead of time what you helping to happen, when you voted for DJT, but that will teach all the impure who didn’t see things your way, right? The blood is all going to be on you.

With your current cunning arguments that have so far included nothing more than a half formed talking point that you have repeated, a threat, and a demand that I shut up with an additional one that I go die you have not convinced me you were right to do this to everyone else for your little fit of pique. So I’m done with you unless you choose to answer the questions I asked you originally and you answer them with some civility.

          • Parque_Hundido

Well, I do take comfort in knowing that the president you elected is about to shut off your healthcare. Your early death will help more than anything else you’ve done.

          • Panika MCD

do pure angels threaten to run people over? I’m rusty on my Holey Babel.

    • jaspersdad

Are you stupid or just possessed by a retarded ghost?

      • Parque_Hundido

Another Shillary lashes out upon being confronted with reality. Ho hum.

        • MCLepus

No, the reality is that Bernie doesn’t get it. At the Netroots Nation 15, in Phoenix, he didn’t get Black Lives Matter. In fact he was totally confused and angered by the notion of Black women questioning his creds, and because he didn’t, he backed out of a meeting with TWiB because he was pissed off about being interrupted by the women.

At least O’Malley willingly shoved his foot into his mouth while answering their questions.

          • Parque_Hundido

You elected Trump. You don’t get to lecture anyone. STFU.

        • jaspersdad

Derp, Derp…………If you had a brain cell it would be lonely…..

        • sgt. jmk of the résistance

Here’s some reality for you… without the DNC and its resources, personnel, and money that were shared with him equally during the primaries, the Sainted Bernard was Jill Stein.

Just because all the 15 people you know from Reddit think the way you do does not make you progressive and does not make you a majority…not even among political lefties.

          • Parque_Hundido

You elected Trump. Join his team or STFU and get out of the way. You are roadkill.

          • sgt. jmk of the résistance

Oh sugarcube, I’ve wiped more intelligent things than you off the bottom of my shoe. I’ve seen better organized creatures than you lying on their backs at the bottom of ponds.

Your misogynistic ranting and self-adoring tantrums won’t even rate a footnote.

          • Parque_Hundido

You can’t even wipe your own ass, and you want anyone to believe you’ve accomplished something worthy of note? Not on this planet. We are better off without you.

          • Panika MCD

the troll threatened to run over you? for telling it the truth?

          • sgt. jmk of the résistance

I doubt he’d recognize the truth if it slapped his ass and called him Fluffy… but his touting of his wishful thinking as “reality” needed a little correction.

          • Panika MCD

FLUFFY! I am totally going to add that to my repertoire!

he honestly thinks a campaign friend of mine who happened to work for the Sanders Campaign (regional director during the primary) should stab me when we have drinks later this week–and that it would even be possible for that to happen.

    • Dazza

Goodness, these Hilary-haters idiots are so predicable. Every article or opinion piece on Ms Clinton draws these white ants out of the woodwork.
No logical arguments, no proof, no properly contextualised facts. Ho-hum.

      • Parque_Hundido

You backed a shitty candidate and elected Trump. You blame Russia rather than accepting that your shitty choices were the cause.

Now you just sound like pathetic conspiracy theorists.

        • Dazza

          Not me, son.

          • Parque_Hundido

All Shillaries must die and/or STFU. I don’t care which.

          • Dazza

            Come and get me, loser.

          • WomanInThePersistence

Don’t go there. You are a love of a poster, and don’t let this one get to you. I would appreciate it if you would please flag this one.

          • Dazza

I already have flagged it, and I’m not going to let the bastards grind me down.

          • Parque_Hundido

You’re already toast. That’s why you flock like flies to shit to all these idiotic stories about how your right wing shitty candidate lost because of Russia. Go die already.

          • Dazza

            Sad. Weak.

          • Parque_Hundido

That’s what we’ve always said about you and your ilk.

          • Dazza

            My “ilk”, eh?

          • iceweasels

He heard me say it yesterday. He’s a very original thinker. ;)

          • Panika MCD

somehow the penis losing the primary did not make his worshipers shut up, but we who supported HRC in the general are supposed to? it seems that the same logic should apply.

        • sgt. jmk of the résistance

LOL Says the guy who’s still pushing the “primaries were rigged” conspiracy theory.

          • Parque_Hundido

Says the as$hole who elected Trump.

          • sgt. jmk of the résistance

            No, cupcake. I voted responsibly.

          • Parque_Hundido

Well, that psycho you elected is about to cut off your hormone replacements. So there’s that.

    • Panika MCD

are BoBs still coming to mommy blogs and bitching about how they lost the primary? you just did! congrats on being the sorest of sore losers. you win…nothing at all. you win nothing.

      • RugzYaBurnt

        Hey, it beats showering!

      • Pisto75666

Except derision and scorn. I think that should count for something.

      • Parque_Hundido

We are rubbing your little wet noses in the pee stain that is the Clinton campaign. We are reminding you that you are to blame for Trump and we won’t forget it.

We’re winning back our states. You’re free to organize bingo in your nursing homes, but you’re done. Good riddance and STFU.

        • You fuck’s can’t or won’t organize an election for dog catcher let alone a national. Then you stomp your feet and cry when people don’t take you seriously.
          Weird how that works.

          • Parque_Hundido

You elected Trump and this get no say. STFU

        • Panika MCD

          https://media.tenor.co/images/eb89ba949a3dfa9b33b748237ba5de18/tenor.gif

nah, you’re being a whiny little prick who was too busy arguing on the internet to phone bank during the primary, block walk during the primary or vote in the general. that’s not taking your states back and it never will be.

          • Parque_Hundido

            Pinnacle of Shillary thought.

          • Panika MCD

and what is the pinnacle of BoB thought? that you can continue to bitch and moan about something that has been finished for over a year and it will magically get reversed? that anyone will want to listen to you–let alone work with you on anything in the future–when you’re being a prick? that they’re roll over and agree with you when you call them names?

take your own advice: the primary is over. you are going to have to grow up and accept it. you got bitten, but pouring salt in other people’s wounds doesn’t make you hurt less or address the reeking infection you’ve got going on.

          • Parque_Hundido

You don’t get to be taken seriously. Just go die.

          • Panika MCD

I’m covering a state house committee hearing right now. you’re the one that is not useful and you keep telling people to go die which isn’t very nice. I mean, I think you’re an idiot, but I know that can be reversed so I don’t wish you death.

          • Parque_Hundido

You’re covering your ill fitting pantsuit. That is all. And perhaps a guilty conscience, but that gives you too much credit.

You’re a Shillary troll. Nothing more. Go die already.

          • Panika MCD

you clearly didn’t get the memo about pants in the non-comments of Wonkette.

          • Parque_Hundido

I also don’t share your desperate hope that you can blame your horrible choices on Russia.

          • Panika MCD

and I don’t share your delusion that a large number of people agree with you or that you somehow own this site.

          • Parque_Hundido

Your delusions are ego syntonic. Got it.

          • Panika MCD

you cannot turn back time, Muffin.

          • Parque_Hundido

I don’t need to. The psycho you elected will cut off your health care. That will kill you. I’ll certainly drink to that!

          • Panika MCD

aw, Precious Pants! and you said you hated alcohol. can’t even keep your insults straight over there, now can you? I’m not going to give POTUS the benefit of calling him a psycho because he’s not smart enough for that–neither are you for that matter. what’s a matter? you had your internet privileges cut off for 24 hours and just couldn’t wait to come back? I don’t suspect you’re going to keep them for long. poor, pitiful, persecuted you. you can’t even think of a good way to stop anything because you’re still under the impression that the president is king! no wonder you’re so pissed off–you never passed HS government.

          • Parque_Hundido

You’re not smart enough to self diagnose, so I’ll help out: you’re a delusional, post menopausal wreck. You’re welcome.

          • Carole

You are a very good person. I don’t wish him death, but I do wish the white coats would come for him.

          • Panika MCD

if you looked at how often he referenced that one drug, it sounds like they already have.

          • Panika MCD

have you found anyone on Wonkette taking you seriously or dying on command?

          • Parque_Hundido

There’s always hope. How’s the coverage going? Have you always been a pathological liar?

          • Panika MCD

we’re not going to take you seriously. ever. you not liking my answers doesn’t make me a pathological liar and not you not accepting them does not do that for you either. neither does telling me to die make me die–as you have found out. have you always been this stupid and delusional?

          • Parque_Hundido

“We”? The voices in your head and your fellow post menopausal Shillaries don’t count. You’re already toast.

          • Panika MCD

I’m going out for drinks with the woman who ran the Central TX office for the Bernie campaign later in the week. you think she’ll stab me? because she hasn’t so far. and no one has lost their seat for supporting HRC. you seem to think threatening people will help and I wish you could have seen the beginning of this hearing where the chair of the committee explicitly stated that that is the opposite of what you should do if you want a thing.

          • Parque_Hundido

I hope you stab yourself and save her the work.

          • Panika MCD

I hope you get the professional help you need there, Cupcake!

          • Parque_Hundido

And I hope the voices in your head quiet down long enough for you to see the orderlies switch off your life support.

          • Parque_Hundido

You’re “covering” the legislature by trolling along with the other Shillaries? And you’re confused about showing signs of life?

            You need more Thorazine.

          • Panika MCD

I have duplicative testimony right now. and I’ve been down here since 8 am. and it’s JJ & the Family Issues which should have to sing with a name like that.

          • Parque_Hundido

I’m sure the voices in your head keep you very busy.

          • Panika MCD

I’m sure projection worked for you as a strategy at one point, but it doesn’t work here, Bubbles.

          • Parque_Hundido

Aren’t you getting ready for your close up? Let’s hope you’ve stockpiled some hormone replacements. Your president is about to shut off your health care and we know what that means for a post menopausal raisin like you.

          • Panika MCD

see, and you think you care about women’s health. women take hormone replacement during menopause, not after it. not that your threats are valid as the Senate is sure to kill TrumpCare–so your little dream of revolution and all the ladies flocking to you will continue to never be realized.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZhvn2gZZTM

          • Parque_Hundido

I care deeply about women. I don’t consider you part of that. You’re a shriveled up nothing. A Shillary. Please go and die, sparing us from the tedium of your continued existence.

          • Panika MCD

all you give a shit about is you’re own bullshit. and while beating you up *with my words* has been fun and relieved some of the rage that makes me want to shoot spit balls at a certain state senator who, quite frankly, has a lot in common with you, I’m done. good bye. hoping you one day get the help you need. bless your itty, bitty heart.

          • Parque_Hundido

Not true. I also give a shit about ensuring that all Shillaries are duly punished. You must all die slow, spectacular deaths. Your Russia shit show is such a nice warm up act.

          • Parque_Hundido

Hon, your still but a panty stain on womankind. You’ll come out with a bit of bleach.

Now go take your estrogen replacements.

          • doktorzoom

Well, you’re a charmer who can’t follow the rules, so you’re gone. Bye!

You are to blame. Bernie supporters behaving like racist little shits was a huge factor. So thanks a lot.

          • Parque_Hundido

You elected Trump. Please STFU and then die.

          • iceweasels

WAAAAHHHH! You’re pathetic. But thanks for making it clear why even at this late date, Bernie never could have won the primary. Turns out there’s not enough racist little white boys who weren’t voting for Trump to carry the nom. Good job you guys!!

          • Parque_Hundido

Sucks to be you. The psycho you elected is about to cut off your hormone replacements. Then you’ll bloat. Even more than now.

        • sgt. jmk of the résistance

It was your misogyny that threw the election to Trump, cupcake.

And nobody rigged the fucking primaries.

          • Parque_Hundido

I’m sure if there were more/better pantsuits your shitty candidate with Reagan republican ideas definitely would have won, just like Margaret Thatcher.

          • sgt. jmk of the résistance

            Reagan republican ideas?

Your ignorance is astounding. I’m surprised they let you out without a keeper and a leash.

          • Parque_Hundido

Yeah, you must have been drunk through history class, which explains your support for Trump.

    • Moebym Reborn

What’s your fucking deal? Do you get off on insulting Hillary on every article you can find about her? Find a better hobby.

      • Parque_Hundido

Or I’m pointing out that you Shillaries still haven’t learned the obvious lesson from the election. You backed a shitty candidate and elected Trump. And you’re applauding and Saudi g “yay us” as though it doesn’t make you sound like delusional stooges.

Spoiler alert: you sound like delusional stooges.

        • Jeffery Campbell

…and you like a broken record.

          • Parque_Hundido

Just go crawl into a corner and die already. We hate you and we will never forgive you for electing Trump.

          • sgt. jmk of the résistance

What’s this “we” shit, cupcake? You and the gerbil up your ass?

          • Parque_Hundido

Poor, post menopausal you. Bad pantsuit, no friends and you’ve just elected a psychotic narcissist who is about to shut off your healthcare.

        • Panika MCD

we voted and turned out voters, you whined. we can’t help the fact that you’re a complete failure.

        • Oblios_Cap

Only Russian trolls and idiot Repubs use “Shillary”.

          • Donkey Option

All us cool kids know it’s $hillary :)

          • Parque_Hundido

Take your meds dear. Shillaries are by definition obsessed with Russia. It’s your last hope.

        • Carole

And say “hi” to Roosh V after the door hits you on the ass on your way out.

          • Parque_Hundido

We Dems hate you and are clearing you from our ranks, or at least closing the door on your nursing homes. Die already, please.

        • iceweasels

I liked the candidate you backed. It was his overtly racist misogynist supporters I lost all patience with. You people lost Sanders the primary.

          • Roadstergal

I liked Sanders before the campaign, a lot. I was on his mailing list, I literally subscribed to his newsletter. After the campaign, I know him more and like him less.

          • Parque_Hundido

You elected Trump. That’s why Dems hate you.

          • iceweasels

I’m not here to be liked. And my disgust with racism is why lots of white people hate me. I’m fine with it. Good luck wrecking 2018 and 2020! I know you white boys are working hard!

          • Parque_Hundido

That’s good, because you are thoroughly despised. Lucky you!

    • pstockholm

You’re still doing this? Rouble exchange rate not quite what you thought it would be?

      • WomanInThePersistence

Hey, a troll still has to pay the bills.

      • Panika MCD

I thought all the kids were snorting BitCoin nowadays.

    • persistently_resistant_gayby

Upended the table because your guy (supposedly progressive, BTW) lost the primaries.

Please just vote for Trump/Stein – atleast it’ll make you honest.

      • Parque_Hundido

Yeah, funny thing about that. I was a delegate at one of the state caucuses where Sanders won but the Shillaries took the delegates. Funny how that happened, with DNC funds no less.

Next time, leave the politics to the grown ups.

        • Except…that wasn’t an actual thing that happened. Buncha party shifters could not get their shit together and then cried when the rules would not be changed to accomodate them.
          So there is that!

          • Parque_Hundido

Except.., you elected Trump. And for that we will always hate you.

        • Jeffery Campbell

I just notices “gayby” in your moniker. Please tell you aren’t gay. Because if you are, you are embarrassing us.

          • Parque_Hundido

Another embarrassing sweater queen Shillary. Please die already.

        • Panika MCD

because it’s so hard to become a delegate. yawn.

          • Parque_Hundido

Because democracy is hard. Go die already.

          • Panika MCD

I work at a state legislature. I know democracy is hard. you seem to have problems with both math (HRC won the primary by 3.8 million votes and received 3 million more votes in the general than Trump did). quit being a massive drain on society. also, we don’t tell people to go die around here, unless we say they should do it with votes!

          • WomanInThePersistence

Panika, would you be so kind as to flag this one?

          • Panika MCD

I’ve been flagging the one who tells me to die on all the comments that tell me to die.

          • Parque_Hundido

Sorry, as a Shillary you have lost the right to be taken seriously. Please STFU.

          • Panika MCD

sorry, as someone who cannot accept that Bernie lost the primary over a year ago and there’s nothing you can do about it–not even bitching at people on a mommy blog–has seemed to help you. maybe you should take a break at a nice mental health facility.

          • Parque_Hundido

Maybe it’s the bad pantsuit choking blood to your brain. You are toast, a laughingstock and a traitor. Do us a favor and kill yourself.

        • Gorillionaire

Grown ups don’t shit their pants.

          • Parque_Hundido

So what’s your excuse for the shit coming out of your mouth? Just die already.

        • iceweasels

There’s the problem right there. People like you drove people away from Sanders with your disgusting attitude.

          • Parque_Hundido

You elected Trump. That’s your Medal of Honor. Now STFU.

          • iceweasels

You elected Trump, with your racist condescending hateful misogynist bullshit. Go fuck yourself.

        • Dances with Poodles

Yeah, funny thing, I volunteered at the Nevada caucus where a Bernie supporter literally held a megaphone and SCREAMED about Bill’s infidelities to the room full of voters (he was escorted out) and Bernie volunteers sneered at me, “We could cheat and tell the DNC that Bernie got more delegates than he did, and you would never know.” Grown-ups? Hardly.

          • Parque_Hundido

You’re lying. That comes easy to you. Where you there when Pelosi called in the cops to prevent a vote? I’m sure you’ll lie about that too. Go die and STFU.

        • persistently_resistant_gayby

          Go fuck yourself.

If you can’t be bothered to read the rules before entering the primaries, you sure as shit are stupid enough.

          • Parque_Hundido

You tucked us all. That’s why you’re toast. Die stupid Shillary.

          • Parque_Hundido

            You’re drunk. Go home.

          • Carole

Maybe you should go join the party with Carrie Nation and the other members of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. I’m sure it’ll be a fucking blast.

          • Parque_Hundido

Maybe you should take a group of Shillaries to the Arctic, step out onto an ice floe and do us all a favor.

    • Beawild

McRacist? Now you’re pulling it out of your a$$. You have a right to your opinion, but not to make up sh*t.

      • Parque_Hundido

Sorry. Where were you in the 90s? Did you miss welfare “reform” and the three strikes laws that took “super predators” off the streets and into privately run prisons?

You must have has your head up your a$s.

        • onetinydino

Oh, that’s cool, how you’re conflating Hillary with Bill. They aren’t the same person, and his policies are not her policies just because they’re married. Also, fuck you.

          • Parque_Hundido

Poor little Shillary. Did ya forget she vowed to bring her POS husband back into the WH? Of course you did. So STFU.

        • iceweasels

That might have been an argument if Bernie supporters hadn’t been so relentless in harassing every black person they could find about Clinton with all the racism they could possible muster.

          • Parque_Hundido

            More Shillary lies. Yawn.

          • iceweasels

I watched them do it myself. And they did it to me. But what a surprise!!!! A BERNIE BRO THINKS I’M LYING!!! Well stop the fucking presses.

          • Parque_Hundido

Poor little Shillary, run out of ideas have we? Oh, wait, that was a year ago. Now please do us a favor and strangle yourself.

        • sgt. jmk of the résistance

You mean that one time when she was the First Lady and had no legislative power and she used the phrase “super predators” when referring to another person’s description of a group of gang members whose race she did not mention in a speech in support of her husband’s administration’s crime bill that Bernie voted in favor of?

Is that what you’re talking about?

          • Parque_Hundido

I mean that time when she said she’d bring her lying, philandering spouse back into the White House. Die or STFU. I don’t care which.

    • Droogs

It really makes your blood boil that more primary voters wanted Hillary than Bernie, doesn’t it? Boiling to the point where you crawl out of the fever swamp and come running over here foaming at the mouth to spew hateful garbage that nobody believes or gives a damn about but you and your ilk.

      • Parque_Hundido

It makes my blood boil that Shillaries inside the DNC misused its resources to defeat the only viable candidate. I’m sure you have fantasies of relevance, and this fantasy that Russia put trump in office is one of them.

Here’s a cold bucket of water for you: you backed a shitty candidate who lost to Trump because she was awful. Your inability to learn makes me hope you are trapped in your nursing home come the next election.

        • Except that did not happen. Your inability to understand how voting works makes me hope you are trapped in Trumpland come the next election.
          Oh, good news!

        • Fennec

Real question, if he was the better candidate then how was he so easily defeated in the primaries with a few strongly worded speeches? I mean, if he was so awesome he should have been able to overcome that. He got fat more screen time and press than Hilary and it was far more positive. You’d think a better candidate than Hilary would have sailed through the primaries then.

          • what, me worry?
          • Parque_Hundido

            STFU shillary trash

          • Fennec

So basically you just proved that you’re a disgusting, name calling “bro” who just hates women and how dare we run for office or question your false statements. Swearing, name calling, and telling others to shut up when you have no proof of your baseless claims only further disproves your statements. Thanks for proving my point, you made it tooooooo easy

          • Parque_Hundido

I hate you and all the other Shillaries.

        • Panika MCD

you backed a shitty candidate who lost the primary because his ideas did not speak to most people. he was and is a disingenuous schmuck who voted for every bombing authorization from 1992 on, supported shielding huge arms manufacturers from liability in gun trafficking, tried to poison a colonia in TX (something his wife is still trying to do with her position on the TLLRWDCC), doesn’t understand automation, almost voted against CHIP and wanted to turn tuition into a school voucher. maybe some of us just don’t buy the bumper stickers because we’re not complete fucking morons like you are!

          • Parque_Hundido

You elected Trump. You don’t get a voice ever again.

          • Panika MCD

you didn’t use your vote. that means that you don’t know how to have a voice in a grown up conversation. you don’t ever get a voice again.

          • Parque_Hundido

Screw you shitbag Shillary. You elected Trump. You are a dumpster fire. Just die.

          • Panika MCD

should I call your mommy and tell her that you’re having one of those seizures that make you tell perfect strangers to die?

        • iceweasels

You are your ilk lost democratic voters. Take responsibility.

          • Parque_Hundido

I’m taking responsibility by weeding out all Shillaries from my state.

          • iceweasels

Which is why Bernie lost the primary. Nice work you fucking useless shithead.

          • Parque_Hundido

Which is why you shriveled, useless Shillaries rally around Russia stories: it’s all you have left. Please die and save us the tedium of your drawn out demise.

    • WomanInThePersistence

I just noticed this. “Bloguette”? Really?

      • Parque_Hundido

        Yes. Really.

        • No, not really. That was a dead giveaway, yes really.
You are bad at this and should feel bad. Maybe try macramé?

          • Jeffery Campbell

No, not macrame – that requires skill and talent. Maybe this poor lost soul should start with those plastic laces and make a lanyard for his dog whistle like we used to do at church camp.

          • Panika MCD

we don’t let these people have dogs, do we?

          • Jeffery Campbell

Golly, I hope not. Although an intelligent creature in the house could be a help.

          • Parque_Hundido

When a Shillary insults me, it’s like angels sing. Just die already. Unless you want more Trump.

          • Parque_Hundido

No. YOU DID. you know by voting for Donald Trump.

We get it….you’re a Trump supporter. Thanks and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

OOOOOOOOOH YOU’RE SUCH A TOUGH GUY.

p.s. your wife that left you tells everyone..and I MEAN EVERYONE…about your tiny penis, mr. tiny penis.

          • Parque_Hundido

Your guy is about to cut off your Medicaid and allow further discrimination against LGBTQ Americans.

Put that on a t-shirt and wear it proudly.

            Or, better, just go die.

          • Blackest Noobs

his disquis name is Spanish for Long Island…well basically…loosely translated.

          • Carole

Wow. Maybe he’s from there originally. While I was flagging all of his death threats, I noticed that he claimed to be a caucus delegate for his state, and I thought maybe he’s in California now. Thanks for responding.

          • Blackest Noobs

regardless he just an asshole with an ego bigger than his penis…which isn’t saying much

And we don’t have caucuses in NY.

    • AndyC316

I think it’s absolutely fantastic that Bernie’s supporters still think he had a viable shot at becoming president when he lost the Democratic primary by 3.8 million votes. That’s just super, and good for them!

      • Parque_Hundido

As someone who elected Trump, your only value now is to STFU or die. You choose. Just be quick.

        • AndyC316

I choose neither, fucko–but thanks for playing. Kiss your Bernie bumper sticker for me 😘😘😘

Bloguette. I bet you read “Danger and Play” in your copious spare time.

      • Parque_Hundido

I read. More than I can say about you Shillaries. Just go die already.

        • Carole

When you call a person a “Shillary” without knowing who they voted for and then invite them to die, you might just be an escaped mental institution patient.

          • Parque_Hundido

You are a Shillary. You all need to go die before you re-elect Trump.

    • Wookie Monster

Can I ask you a serious question? What exactly is your goal here? What are you trying accomplish? You’re clearly spoiling for a fight, but what do you expect to win? You’re not convincing people that they should have backed Sanders by copping this attitude.

      • Parque_Hundido

Not interested in the thoughtlets of a Shillary. You are literally roadkill.

        • Wookie Monster

Okay. Looking forward to seeing you featured on this Sunday’s “Dear Shit Fer Brains.”

          • Parque_Hundido

            What are you? Five?

          • Parque_Hundido

          • Wookie Monster

Cute. Can’t wait to read to read the rest of your comments on Sunday.

Bill Maher says Hillary is a “nice lady” that had her shot and should go away, but Bernie should run again. Kids love him.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4UbbgaIi8Q&index=37&list=WL

I’ve known Bernie for as long as I’ve known Hillary. She is still the better man or woman and still has my vote to lose.

    • Delu

Seems like everyone is blaming everyone else but themselves.

      Quite the trend there.

    • Dances with Poodles

Bernie lost the primary to Hillary by nearly 4 million votes, but he’s not the one who should “go away”? Maher is a smug, sexist turd (with no women on his writing staff).

      • what, me worry?

The DNC is in court, right now, arguing that they have no obligation to conduct a fair primary process. But sure, your numbers mean everything.

        • Dances with Poodles

The DNC was under no obligation to prop up the holier-than-thou man who’s disparaged the Democrats for decades, exploited their platform and resources for his own gain, breached the DNC voter data then had the gall to sue the DNC, and refused to raise money for down-ballot Democrats or share his e-mail list. But sure, Bernie’s sense of entitlement trumps all else.

          • what, me worry?

That’s a lot of disinformation packed into a little reply.

“The DNC was under no obligation to prop up…” Strangely, that’s not the argument the DNC is using in court. They’ve argued that they are perfectly within their rights to break their own rules and prop up Herself, and it’s just too bad that all those people donated to Bernie’s campaign. Fuck ’em.

The plaintiffs are claiming bad faith. They have a point. They relied on the DNC’s rules in their belief the process would be fair and open. The DNC’s position is not only that it wasn’t, but they had no obligation to make it so. There’s a long way between “propping up a candidate” and screwing him because you favor his opponent.

Of course, if you’re waiting to see a report on this from MSM, keep waiting.

“breached the DNC voter data…” This is a fun one, because who was the custodian of all that data? The CIO of Hillary’s ’08 campaign. But of course he wouldn’t have given Hillary any lists of Bernie donors, because the DNC process was completely above board. See their lawyers’ argument above.

“had the gall to sue the DNC..” and won. It’s called breach of contract.

“refused to raise money for down-ballot Democrats…” but raised a ton of money for down ballot progressives. Unlike Clinton, who raised a ton of money for down ballot Democrats, then gave it all… to Herself. 1% went to actual down ballot candidates.

“or share his e-mail list. But sure, Bernie’s sense of entitlement trumps all else.” it’s weird how you claim it’s Bernie’s sense of entitlement, when you’re whinging about him not giving away his data, after the DNC screwed him over. Was Clinton “entitled” to his email list?

          • sgt. jmk of the résistance

Yes, how dare the DNC not immediately canonize the dude who showed up 28 seconds before putting his hand out and asking for money and resources over the woman who put in 35+ years of hard slog for the party, its members, and its agenda.

They were SO unfair to Bernie!!

      • IdRatherBeDancing

Ya. Fucking sick of Bill Maher — normalizing Milo was a bridge too far for me.

    • what, me worry?

Bernie would legalize your weed. HRC would keep it criminalized.

      • orygone

doubt it. she has been slow to come around. Bernie is off the table for 2020.

      • Lucas Foxx

Bernie never gets anything done. That’s how he lost my support. The Clintons have been slower to come around on it than Al Gore was in ’92 when High Times reported him crashing a Hempfest and telling attendees, “we won’t forget you.” But she has come around. She supports the state initiatives and supports rescheduling so more research can be funded. I’m not a one issue voter, either.

        • what, me worry?

Rather than blaming Bernie, maybe we should ask why there are no Democratic sponsors for medicare-for-all? To Dems, unity means Bernie supports their agenda. No reciprication.

          • Lucas Foxx

It doesn’t matter what Dems do. Bernie won’t compromise. He never has. He never will. He is the poster child for sacrificing progress for purity. And given what we now know about he and Jane’s questionable Russian connections and embezzlement issues, he has no moral ground to preach from.

          • what, me worry?

well, that’s just incorrect, but it’s certainly what the dem establishment wants you to think. You’ve been watching too much MSNBC.

            https://youtu.be/1zCPLzrGPQI

          • Lucas Foxx

I don’t watch or need MSNBC. I’ve watched him for years. I love watching him on committees, but he NEVER gets shit done.

      • sgt. jmk of the résistance

        Oh puhleaze.

        • what, me worry?

          Sorry, they’re both on record.

HRC is opposed to legalizing recreational weed. Sanders is in favor.

Just pointing out that Lucas voted against his own stated self interest here.

    • JTZ

Anyone remember these words? “The era of big government is over”, right before the AFDC was dismantled with the ardent support of one Hillary Clinton. Even characterizing this as a success in 2008, when she was still barring undocumented immigrants from licensed professions. I mean, God DAMN those nasty immigrants who want to actually do something with their lives, as Trump supporters sit on their touches and whine about the lack of jobs, right?

Yes, she was a shining example of support for women, immigrants and gays. ROFL

Let’s not even go there that Honduras is now ruled by an extremist far-right government today, a fascist junta-imposed government, because of Hillary Clinton. Or that Haitians absolutely hate her guts for what her Foundation did there.

And how about that speech at Goldman Sachs, eh? Not a corporate elitist? ROFL Clinton spoke about how it wasn’t just the banks that caused the financial crisis and that it was worth looking at the landmark 2010 Dodd-Frank financial reform law to see what was working and what wasn’t. Yup….a real candidate of the people, this one was!~

Give me Bernie ANY DAY over this!

      • Lucas Foxx

AFDC had issues. TANF was a compromise. You deserve Bernie. Neither of you understand what that word means. Sure, Honduras is ALL her fault.
As for Goldman Sachs, I think it hilarious that she made them pay top dollar to say things she already says in public, and in speeches she gives other groups for pennies. And it wasn’t just the banks that caused the financial crisis. Neither you, nor Bernie, have figured that out yet. I do like Bernie. Not fond of Berniebros.

        • JTZ

FINALLY! Someone who can speak about and understands the issues. Yes, the AFDC did have issues. However, extreme poverty doubled to 1.5 million in the decade and a half after the law was passed, which was cruel to say the least. As for Goldman Sachs – an investment bank notorious for using its ties to public officials to influence policy, what she said there directly conflicted with what she said in her campaign. Also, it wasn’t all the banks, as there was an Asian savings issue that took money out of the markets too, so it was Global, but the American lenders certainly had their hands deeply inside the crap pot and that’s on record. I don’t hate Hillary, even if I dislike her policies, but her Hillbots are nauseating to many of us.

          • Lucas Foxx

Same for the Bernie bots. 8 years of that decade and a half after TANF was GWB and Republican congresses. Don’t dismiss that. What did Hillary say to Goldman Sachs that contradicted her campaign positions? Link, please.

          • JTZ

I’m certain you can look up Hillary’s Goldman Sachs speech and deduce what she said during her campaign and figure out how different they were. I don’t do people’s homework for them.

            However she did say…

“I want the law to extend to those that are part of the shadow banking industry—the big insurance companies, the hedge funds,” she said during an April 14 Democratic debate. Then, saying Dodd-Frank was enacted “for political reasons” because the press was saying the Great Recession was “the fault of Wall Street” and that “the jury is still out” on the law’s effectiveness. She was also quoted as saying that post crisis regulations were suppressing lending.

Also, commenting in 2014 on the disgust of economic elites, Mrs. Clinton acknowledged that her family’s rising wealth had made her “kind of far removed” from the struggles of the middle class.” Now, I would have disagreed with her on this. Because I don’t think wealth accumulation isolates one from understanding poverty, if one has lived through it. But, I do think her ties to speech making and pay do affect her bottom line and decisions with regards to those institutions.

          • Lucas Foxx

I did look into them at the time, and still don’t see the conflicts you do.
“She was also quoted as saying that post crisis regulations were suppressing lending.” I would have to see this quote. I remember her saying it was the banks, not the regulations themselves, that were still suppressing lending after we bailed them out and the regulations were intended to increase loan availability. Dodd-Frank forced the bankers to fund their own future bail outs. The GOP hates it more than you do.

    • Caroline

Bernie unfortunately never got the full oppo dump done to him. So people are completely unaware of his toxic baggage. The GOP had a 2 foot thick file ready to drop on him. Mahrer is a misogynist through and through.

  • cosmiccowgirl

Things I loved about that interview:

Hillary quoting one of her best comebacks in the debates–“Yes, I prepared for the debate, and I also prepared to be president.”

On the fact that she was prepared and has actual knowledge about stuff: “I know it’s not exactly headline grabbing, but I can’t be anything other than who I am.” I CAN’T BE ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHO I AM. What a wonderful thing for a woman to say.

The fact that she didn’t self-flagellate, except sarcastically. She won all the debates, gave better speeches, threw a better convention, and was over-qualified for the job. If dumbasses didn’t vote for her, that’s on them.

    • Delu

“I CAN’T BE ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHO I AM”

I still think, that of all the candidates in the election, none embodies this phrase more than Trump.

so when does this winning begin for Trump?
because we all have yet to see him winning so much we would get tired of winning.

When they chart her popularity, she basically is super popular when she isn’t trying to actually achieve things. When she has gotten the job and is doing it, she is super duper popular. The minute she is out there actually trying to do something new – we turn on her. Misogyny? Well, all I can say is that I’ve never seen this pattern with a man.

  • crabbychic

She is so fucking bad-ass. So can we time-travel to October 27, have the election early and FIX THIS SHIT???!?!?!? Also can someone please punch Jimmy Comey in the balls? Repeatedly?

    • iceweasels

A much more significant factor was the effective racist voter suppression. And I don’t see many people talking about fixing it, so the same thing would probably happen again.

      • crabbychic

Yeah there is the racism factor. Sigh.

      • Roadstergal

That’s the thing that makes me rage-scream. This is a HUGE PROBLEM that we knew would come after the SCOTUS decision, that we saw happening in real time – and instead, all of the Bros talk about her ‘abandoning’ their values. She had the support of the left, of the minorities who are hurt most by Republican policies and helped most by hers. But too many of them couldn’t vote.

        • iceweasels

If someone, anyone would have stepped up and shown leadership on this issue the second the election results came out, they would have been able to demand investigations into this absurd election. Nobody did. Not Hillary, not Sanders, nobody with access to a real platform.

  • what, me worry?

Misogyny played a role in Clinton’s loss. Comey played a role. Russia played a role. These are all true things, any one of which can flip the script in a close election.

The problem is, this shouldn’t have been a close election. It should have been a complete blow-out. Deep red states should have been in play. But they weren’t, and a large part of the blame for that goes to Clinton herself, the DNC, and the decisions that were made after the nomination process ended.

Clinton chose to abandon the left. She chose to stick a thumb in their eye by selecting her anti-abortion, financial deregulating running mate. She chose to chase republican donors and disaffected moderate conservatives, rather than attempting to heal the rift in the party, caused by the DNC’s heavy handed manipulation of the primary. She chose to avoid the industrial midwest, rather than fighting for it.

Clinton could have survived Comey’s crass politicization of the FBI. She could have survived the Russian hacking and wikileaks publications. She could have beaten misogyny. But she abandoned the very people she needed, and then expected, foolishly, that they’d turn out and vote for her anyway, with the trumpian threat looming in the background.

    • orygone

she wasn’t perfect but she had the powerful right wing media lying about her for 30 years. tough to overcome

      • what, me worry?

I get the impression that when people start bleating about the wing media, rhey just don’t like what’s being reported.

        • in this case, not so much! They actually made up lies- well documented lies mind you- in the right wing media and have been talking about them for 30 years- on TV, Radio and in book form.
So…well I guess you could say that people who don’t think the media should be lying about someone are only interested in what they want to hear?

          • what, me worry?

Here’s the thing, though.. The people listening to and watching right wing media were never going to vote Democratic anyway. Luckily, most people aren’t crazy right wingers.

Hillary lost because she decided it would be a better bet for her to chase conservatives, and select a pro-life deregulator as VP, than to fix the damage the DNC did to party unity by screwing one candidate in favor of the other.

But those conservatives have been watching right wing media, and have been convinced since childhood that she’s the devil. Like, the actual devil. So, they were never, ever going to vote for her.

She could have – she should have – healed the rift in the Party by meeting with Sanders and announcing that she’d been convinced of a lot of his platform. She should have selected a real progressive for VP. And this one is controversial, but it would prove authenticity – she should have sworn off corporate financing for the balance of the campaign. Had she done so, Bernie would have shared his email, and even I would have donated to her.

She needed to walk the walk. She didn’t.

here’s the thing: you are talking out of your ass. please stop now.

          • what, me worry?

When you have anything of substance to add, I’ll be here.

          • JTZ

What me worry, you are dead on with this post. And the only come back? Nothing of substance. That’s exactly what the DNC has begun to offer in the last few years.

          • Nothing of substance besides all the actual facts? Sure! go with that

          • Caroline

She catered to the far left more than she should have and that likely caused her to lose more than anything else. For pete’s sake she put that loser Cornel West on the platform and what did she get for including him? He quit and did nothing. Anyway all you are proving is that the left wing of the party is not interested in being part of a coalition and want to be continuously coddled and then when they are not coddled they throw a tantrum and sit home.

          • what, me worry?

Being part of the coalition means having a seat at the table. You dont want us there. When the DNC sat the platform committee, all of Bernie’s labor organizers were left out, but big business had plenty of representation.

You dont want us in your club, but you expect our votes. It doesnt work like that.

          • Caroline

No, what you want is everything to be had your way or your are going to take your little red wagon and go home. You know when your candidate loses the primary you suck it up. It’s called being part of a coalition. You have to compromise just like everybody else has to compromise.

          • what, me worry?

If my candidate lost a fair and open primary, I’d be ok with that. But the DNC is in court right now, arguing that not only do they acklowledhe the primary was rigged, but that they aren’t obliged to hold primaries at all, regardless what their internal by laws say.

Do you really believe the most disliked democratic candidate in history beat the most popular politician in the country without the DNCs help?

C’mon. You’re not that gullible, are you?

          • Caroline

The DNC is a private organization. They do not have to have primaries. We used to not have primaries at all. Just a convention where someone was nominated. The primary was clean. Bernie lost by close to 4 million votes. I live in GA. We have an open primary. Bernie lost here by 50 points. Baa waa that “rigged primary” statement comes right from Russia Today. Yeah, right. If you want to align yourself with Putin you are more than welcome to but I’ll have none of it.

          • what, me worry?

That’s actually something the court is going to decide, but let’s stipulate that you’re right. The DNC is private. They don’t even have to follow their own rules.

If that’s how they want to play it, don’t expect the votes of the hundreds of thousands of people Bernie brought into the primary process when they intentionally screw our candidate. And don’t try to deny it. It’s the basis of the DNC’s defense in the suit.

But hillarists want it both ways. They want the DNC to screw Bernie, and then have all his supporters to be happy about it and vote for her. And to that, I reiterate, that’s not how life works.

If you want the votes of the supporters of your primary opponent, it needs to be a fair, impartial contest. This wasn’t. That’s part of why she lost in the general. You have no one to blame but yourselves.

          • Pst, your candidate lost in a fair and open primary.
            So…what now?

          • what, me worry?

Calling it that doesn’t make it that, otherwise republicans can just label pollution, “visible air”, and pollution would go away.

The DNC’s own lawyers disagree with you. Maybe get your stories straight and get back to me?

          • WomanInThePersistence

You may not be aware of this, but many people here supported Sanders. Please stop being rude to folks. Thanks.

          • what, me worry?

Find a discussion in which you can be contributing, rather than just whining.

          • WomanInThePersistence

And flagged. And blocked. Because you are simply not worth anybody’s time.

          • what, me worry?

            :'(…

          • Ever hear the asshole song, friend?
Because I think it may be your motto and I gotta tell ya, Denis was being ironic, not giving a how to.

          • what, me worry?

When ppl post ad hominem declaring me a big meanie, I’m not going to take them seriously. Come here with a point, and I’ll engage. If that’s rude to you, go have your coffee clatch in private.

          • You have yet to come up with a single point beyond your original post that was not a direct insult to a poster, and much of your original post was an insult to those Hillbots, so….erm.
Reap what you sow I suppose?

          • Did they? Where? Maybe you should get your stories straight sweetums. Or, you know, at least correct.
The DNC did not rig anything; they supported the candidate who was running as a Democrat. Surprise! But it was the people who voted.
And more people voted for Hillary. In the primary. Even though Bernie got much more favorable press- much like Trump! Because the press love the outsider story! And the click revenue!
You screaming over and over that it was rigged does not make it factual. You should know this since you are such a mega-genius policy thinker and all.

          • what, me worry?

There is a suit brought by Sanders supporters against the DNC, in which they argue that according to the DNCs own by laws, they were required to hold fair, impartial primaries. You probably haven’t read about it, because all major outlets have blacked it out.

The DNCs defense is they they are private. No, the primary wasn’t fair, but so what? They aren’t obligated to hold fair primaries.

This makes the hillarist claim that they were fair and impartial kind of sad, because your own lawyers have stipulated that isn’t true.
