time to put that thing down, flip it and reverse it

Oh hey, The Guardian British English newspaper thingie, do you have a scoop you’d like to bury in a really long article? You do???? TELL US IT!

One source suggested the official investigation was making progress. “They now have specific concrete and corroborative evidence of collusion,” the source said. “This is between people in the Trump campaign and agents of [Russian] influence relating to the use of hacked material.”

Neat! Of course, we do not know who “one source” is, but it’s interesting to learn this, since Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA), the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, has suggested he knows of evidence that’s MORE than circumstantial, and also other Democrats on that committee are dropping little bombs about how people under investigation are going to end up in jail.

Oh wait, what’s this? Donald Trump did a big bomb in Afghanistan? Huh. Well, we’re sure he had a good reason.

ANYWAY, back to how the president and his pals are under multiple investigations for possibly colluding with Russia to steal the White House! The article in The Guardian is more bigly about how all the allies of America have apparently been warning U.S. American intelligence about evidence of collusion between Trumpland and Russia SINCE ALL THE WAY BACK IN 2015:

GCHQ first became aware in late 2015 of suspicious “interactions” between figures connected to Trump and known or suspected Russian agents, a source close to UK intelligence said. This intelligence was passed to the US as part of a routine exchange of information, they added.

Over the next six months, until summer 2016, a number of western agencies shared further information on contacts between Trump’s inner circle and Russians, sources said.

The European countries that passed on electronic intelligence – known as sigint – included Germany, Estonia and Poland. Australia, a member of the “Five Eyes” spying alliance that also includes the US, UK, Canada and New Zealand, also relayed material, one source said.

And also maybe the Dutches and the Frenches found shit too, according to The Guardian. That is a lot of countries trying to have our back and Make America Great Again!

Recall that GCHQ is the British agency Trump and Sean Spicer lied about, saying it put illegal “wire tapps” in Team Trump’s b-hole for Obama. The Guardian clarifies, though, that none of the stuff all our allies found came from any kind of targeted thing against Trump ‘n’ Pals, but rather was just crap they picked up in “routine surveillance of Russian intelligence assets,” all of whom are obviously BFFs with Trump ‘n’ Pals. Turns out all these agencies started all kind of seeing the same stuff, and it made them like “Knock knock America! Who’s there? Russia and Donald Trump working together to hack your election!” And America was like “Oh, we should get around to looking into that eventually!”

The Guardian‘s source says the reason all our allies were finding this shit and American intelligence wasn’t is due to how we have strict laws in America against spying on our own people, because American citizens have conniptions about being spied on:

“It looks like the [US] agencies were asleep,” the source added. “They [the European agencies] were saying: ‘There are contacts going on between people close to Mr Trump and people we believe are Russian intelligence agents. You should be wary of this.’

“The message was: ‘Watch out. There’s something not right here.’”

Indeed. There’s a lot that’s not right here. Maybe if we had “unmasked” some more “U.S. Persons” in our intelligence gathering, we could have stopped this shit in its tracks.

Wait, what’s this? The boom boom Trump did to Afghanistan is the biggest bomb we have that isn’t a nuke? Golly, Trump, are your hands even big enough to activate a bomb like that? Oh well, back to how there are probably Russian spies in the White House.

Also too, Richard Dearlove, the former head of MI6, did an interview with Prospect magazine, and he says Trump probably owes Russia a million shitloads of money, because nobody else would do business with him after the financial crash. Whoa if true, and it’s probably true!

Anyway, we hope “unnamed source” is correct and our FBIs and CIAs and other investigative committees really do have the goods, because it’s only a matter of time before President Thin-Skin gets so addicted to bombing shit in exchange for flattery from the media that he graduates to nukes.

    • tomamitai

The problem is likely that much of what they have is based on “human assets” aka “spies” in the Russian government, and they have to be careful what they release so as not to “burn” the sources. One highly placed spy during the Soviet era was allegedly burned literally, bound to a stretcher and cremated alive.

          • snark-lurker

            but i am worried

    • MassiveQuantitiesofPie

That’s not the problem. The problem is that everything concrete is classified top secret and most of it will be inadmissible in court. So, the FBI and the NY AG have to run investigations into the money laundering and perjury aspects in order to nail them on offenses that can prosecuted without the classified intel. That takes time. Plus, we’re getting a ton of help from the European intel agencies who are running parallel investigations on this and Russian tampering in elections in the UK, France, Germany, The Netherlands, etc. Are they waiting to gather more evidence during the French election? There are rumors that France and Germany have evidence of collusion between Trump, Putin, and Le Pen that could destroy her bid. We’ll see.

The person described US intelligence as being “very late to the game”. The FBI’s director, James Comey, altered his position after the election and Trump’s victory, becoming “more affirmative” and with a “higher level of concern”.

That’s because, and everyone really needs to understand this, our military, intelligence, and security services are mostly staffed with Republicans and understand that Republican administrations will give them more funding and less oversight. That’s why they were so gung-ho about looking into Clinton and less into Trump.

The major difference between then and now, and the reason they’ve turned against him, is because they’ve realized that Trump is an *imbecile*.

    • WotsAllThisThen

Afghanistan being an active warzone, its unlikely local generals bothered to ask “should we use this particular conventional ordinance or that particular conventional ordinance?” Commanders in Chief don’t make those decisions.

This wasn’t that special of a bomb. MOAB is basically dynamite in box. Most military stuff has dumb nicknames because it amuses soldiers. Mother of All Bombs was a joke about Saddam Hussein.

    • Dr. Rrrrrobotnik

See this is why our media is stupid. You throw around terms like “LARGEST NON-NUCLEAR WEAPON DROPPED” and people freak out because they only read those last three words.

What actually happened is that they dropped a particularly large conventional bomb because the kinetic effect would be useful in collapsing ISIS tunnel networks. That’s all.

Hmm. It’s hard to tell, but it looks like they’re moving towards defining leaks to organizations like Wikileaks as more alike to treason. While that is an accurate description of Wikileaks, this is kind of worrying for whistleblowers generally.

      • ltmcdies

yes it is and Assange ought to have thought of that before “picking sides” in an election at the tacit behest of Vlad.

      • Lamashtar

I’ve no worries. Real whistleblowers actually bother to use the whistleblower systems (Snowden didn’t even try, then lied about the material he revealed according to experts) or go to responsible journalists who bother to vet the material (Wikileaks releases people’s names regardless of the danger).

          • jesterpunk

Just to be fair we need to hear from the other side. Podesta said over time and people have followed his recipe and it came out well.

        • artem1s

no guarantee that Pence won’t appoint his own VP. Line of succession is applied in cases of disaster, as in everyone above you is DOA or unable to assume office at the same instance. I’m thinking Kasich will end up in the WH just in time to save the GOP in the 2020 election.

    • Pierre_de_Fermat

This might ensnare Pence as well, but it might not. Presumably, if Pence took office, he’d select a VP. The VP would then be the successor, not Ryan. I think Ryan was next only if the VP could not. This is from Cold War and Nixon-Agnew.

This was stoppable if they’d gotten to it early. I know there’s people screaming about their populist mandate and how people like Trump/Bernie are “owed” a place on the main party primary ballots, but there’s nothing stopping them from running as Independents. The main parties need to be grownups and say “no” to outsiders sometimes.

        • PressSecretaryCaptainHowdy

That’s what the Electoral College was supposed to be for. Some people voted for Bernie and a feather lady.

          • ariel_gee_398

Those op-eds about how the EC shouldn’t vote against Trump because “democracy” will look increasingly foolish as this goes on, I suspect.

          • Lamashtar

The Electoral College was deliberately created EXACTLY so the Electors could overrule stupid populism. This basically says it failed. We need changes. :(

          • ariel_gee_398

Right, we have systems in place designed to stop this that failed. That is…not good at all. And of course even worst case scenario – Trump is personally in cahoots and gets impeached – I don’t know that we’ll change the system. Too much entrenched power and money would fight it.

          • Lord Jim

            THANK YOU.

    Whew!

It’s a good thing Treason (by Republicans) is not illegal….

Otherwise, Nixon, Reagan, Bush I and Bush II would be in prison.

The Vietnam wall should have a line that reads The Following Names Brought To You By GOP Treason.

“…he ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, has suggested he knows of evidence that’s MORE than circumstantial…”

One more time – circumstantial evidence is no more or no less reliable than direct evidence. It all depends on the details. It’s a serious mistake to dismiss evidence simply because it is circumstantial.

Trump literally invited foreign agents into the Whitehouse and gave them access to our classified information! Are they still complaining about an email server?

Atty. Gen. Sessions is certainly on board, claiming broad support for bombardment by our troops in the field. He’s tweeting that yesterday’s firing on Ft. Sumter will show “that blue-clad filth who’s in charge in this world once and for all.” It’s yet another way for him to reject rumors of severe memory less and allegations he has serious dmentia.

I hear some people say that it’s unpatriotic to hope for scandals because it’s bad for all of us when an administration is brought down, regardless of party.

Yeah. Fuck that. After a campaign built entirely on “Lock her up,” I want all of these hypocritical imposters to be frog-marched out of the White House in handcuffs so bad I could fap. Reap what you sow, scumbags.

“Richard Dearlove” – a name straight out of John Le Carre. No chaser.

    Next week could get interesting:
    http://www.palmerreport.com/opinion/intel-sources-first-big-arrests-in-donald-trumps-russia-scandal-could-come-next-week/2301/

Please note: This is the Palmer report, so while usually well sourced, they have been known to publish very misleading, skewed facts, and are pretty far to the left spectrum of bias… but I’ve got my fingers crossed for you guys that Trump’s circle is about to go down :)

It would seem that “one source suggested” that Wonkette has collectively lost its grip on sanity.
