Know who ELSE had a stubby weird penis, allegedly?
Idiot voters in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin are pretty sure Donald Trump only said crazy shit on the campaign trail to be "provocative" and "controversial," and he probably isn't all that bad , and besides, we need somebody to go shake things up in Washington, because PFFFFFFFFFFFFT FUCK AMERICA IS WHY. Prove them wrong, why dontcha?
Reuters says the Trump transition team is talking about forcing Muslims in America to register, in a registry:
Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach [...] said in an interview that Trump's policy advisers had [...] discussed drafting a proposal for his consideration to reinstate a registry for immigrants from Muslim countries. [...]
To implement Trump's call for "extreme vetting" of some Muslim immigrants, Kobach said the immigration policy group could recommend the reinstatement of a national registry of immigrants and visitors who enter the United States on visas from countries where extremist organizations are active.
Kobach helped design the program, known as the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System, while serving in Republican President George W. Bush's Department of Justice after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States by al Qaeda militants. [...]
NSEERS was abandoned in 2011 after it was deemed redundant by the Department of Homeland Security and criticized by civil rights groups for unfairly targeting immigrants from Muslim-majority nations.
Oliver Willis points us toward an analysis from the ACLU's Chris Rickerd, who called NSEERS "one of the most shameful chapters of American history," said it came directly from the hysteria of 9/11, and that OH BY THE WAY, like so many Bush era policies, it didn't do a damn bit of good:
The program never produced direct benefits in terms of bolstering national security, experts say, but it did expend vast quantities of government resources. “The opportunity cost of it was enormous,” said Rickerd. “These were countless hours of law enforcement time spent on people who had no individual reason to be on the authorities' radar. This was an enormous loss of resources that could have been better deployed.”
The one thing it DID do was lead to a metric shitload of deportations, so maybe Trump's team sees it as a success by that measure, and might want to use it in their efforts to cleanse America. What the fuck did you think Make America Great Again meant anyway? Jesus. (Please do click here to read all about NSEERS, by the way.)
Reuters reports that Kobach -- a racist asshole who hates immigrants and hates it when brown people vote and also helped Arizona write its awful "Papers please!" law -- is also trying to help the Trump boys figure out how to cram their Mexico wall down America's throat without having to go to Congress, and also too wants to help fuck over the DREAMers, those 700,000 people who came here illegally not out of some sort of malice, but because their grown-up parents brought them here. He seems nice, doesn't he?
Oh, but they're just trying to keep America safe, right? And if you have to round up millions of people and deport them, or keep a national registry of Muslims, or send them to camps, that's just the price of white freedom, yeah? Besides, you could really create a lot of infrastructure jobs if you hire a buncha crackers to build those camps, hoo boy!
Hey, 1938 Germany, whatcha doin'?
In August 1938, German authorities decreed that by January 1, 1939, Jewish men and women bearing first names of “non-Jewish” origin had to add “Israel” and “Sara,” respectively, to their given names. All Jews were obliged to carry identity cards that indicated their Jewish heritage, and, in the autumn of 1938, all Jewish passports were stamped with an identifying letter “J.”
In 1933, when Hitler took power, a Denaturalization Law was passed to revoke citizenship from Jewish immigrants. Remember when Trump threatened to bar even AMERICAN CITIZEN MUSLIMS LIVING ABROAD from re-entering the US and A?
We're just saying, and we better keep Just Saying, because THIS SHIT IS NOT NORMAL. We sure do hope Trump and his band of merry men don't have designs on becoming the Third Reich (even though Trump did used to keep a book of Hitler's speeches by his bed, because he's such a reader), but we reckon we'd like to keep paying attention and saying THIS IS NOT NORMAL whenever things are NOT NORMAL, lest we wake up one day and find that oh shit, America as we know it is dead and one day kids will be studying how nobody ever saw it coming, yadda yadda, etc.
READ A BOOK, A-HOLES.
Trump Transition Team Talking Muslim Registry, Probably Just Kidding Around
Imperial Life in the Emerald City by Rajiv Chandrasekaran -- may as well learn what a fiasco feels like from the inside, because it's coming soon to a small country not near you.
Beyond the scary wrongness of this there is no fucking sense or logic. It totally plays into his demo's lazy ignorance - people who may not be stupid, they just don't care enough to learn anything beyond their beliefs or feelings.
Just thinking about these dumbfucks sitting in a room trying to do a historic reinactment of 1933 Germany makes my blood boil.
"Muslim countries?" Does that include the entire globe where people of the Muslim faith live? Someone who was born in Syria but is a naturalized citizen of the UK?
Why bother with common sense and facts when you can feel good calling a group of people terrorists. Just round up the brown people with funny beards and hats and women who wear scarves and stick their names on a list. Better yet, ship them back to the middle east, even if that isn't where they are from.
It's similar to the whole "Mexican's" crossing the border issue. Trump just hammered away on Mexicans when in reality in the last couple of years more non-Mexicans were detained crossing the border. But every yahoo Trump supporter I saw interviewed yammered on about Mexicans.
Again, why bother with the facts when calling a group of people rapists makes you feel good. Just round up the non-English speaking brown people without the funny hats or scarves and ship them to Mexico.
My guess is this whole registry thing will eventually be broad enough that it will be pretty easy to slide in more religions, ethnicities, races, LGBTQ..
