Ball-Less Wonder Ted Cruz Endorses ... Nope, Don't Care, Talking About This Instead
Ted Cruz, International (Canadio-Cuban) Man of Integrity and Principle endorsed Donald Trump yesterday, because we don't care why, we are watching this instead.
A 15-year-old girl from Maryland was riding her bike and collided with an old white dude in a car. She said she wasn't hurt, and declined a ride to the hospital. Obviously, the cops had to take her either to a hospital or her parents* -- that is what we call "fair enough!"
* Update, thanks to commenter Pinkham's Law since I had stopped reading the original story after the horrible video: The cops took her to neither the hospital nor her parents but to the police station instead. Huh, how about that? Now, as you were!
The girl goes batshit and freaks out -- I mean, REALLY FREAKS OUT. Perhaps there is a reason she does not want her parents disturbed! Maybe she has internalized the lesson over the past few centuries that the police are not her friend! Could be both!
Whatever the reason for her ear-splitting meltdown, the police do not try to deescalate or defuse the situation. They don't coax or wheedle or use gentle tones or call her "honey." A tall, slim, youngish black man stands by, trying to help and trying to defuse. They order him BACK! BACK! "I am back," he says. But he stays, watchful, doing everything right and everything his mother (presumably) taught him about dealing with police.
Soon enough, there are multiple cops on the girl, grabbing her arms, HARD. They are handcuffing her for doing nothing wrong except having a mouth on her and not being terribly helpful.
They take her to a squad car (again, they have to get her to her parents, FAIR ENOUGH) but she resists putting her feet inside. "Stop resisting!" they tell her, and she screams "I'm not!" (She really is.)
She is still crying, but she's calmed the fuck down by a lot. She is no longer kicking or shrieking or even dropping that many fuck-yous. She is just weeping. She has been roughed up and cuffed and arrested for riding her bike, three big men overpowering her autonomy. So that of course is when an officer puts his pepper spray through the cracked squad car window and sprays her right in the face, while she's handcuffed, and that's when we stopped watching.
"She should not have talked to cops that way!" people will say, and they're right! We don't think anyone should talk to anyone that way! "She should have told the cops her name, and her parents' number, and not kicked them or resisted and all the other things!" Sure, you bet! All true! Absolutely!
And if police can arrest a mass bomber WHO IS SHOOTING AT THEM, they should also be able to get a pissed-off teenager back to her parents without roughing her up and pepper-spraying her in the face while she's already in their squad car, even if she's throwing a really bad tantrum or even crying when they don't want to hear it.
It doesn't seem like a lot to ask.
Oh, and Ted Cruz has no balls, but you knew that already.

hmmm...well, other than the fact that it appears you completely missed the point of the post---several weeks ago, i was in the generic gas-and-go getting a cup o joe because i was late to a shitty work meeting...when i came out, some idjit with a mini-suv had backed into my less than 25K miles-having car (in nearly the exaxt same spot as the man in the video)...yes, i was pissed and could have punched the old hoosier, but he at least waited for me and handed me his info and i went to the shitty work meeting and called the police later (which, as most people never stop to think, you can do nearly worldwide in order to get the paperwork for insurance purposes)
of course when i called his insurance company 3 days later, his policy was expired, because 50% of people who buy car insurance get the card for cops and never pay another payment---small claims court??...please---file with my insurance, pay the $500 deductible and have my rates go up?...hell no---ask around because we are ALL (trust me, ALL) less than six degrees from car-body-working-on guy who'll look at it and say '$200, bring it to my house, i'll fix it'---Hell Yeah, and i'd have paid him $400 and been happy to keep it off my insurance
keep in mind that this was another 3000 lb vehicle and the damage it can do, not a Kid On A Bicycle
which brings me back 'round to my earlier premise...that you missed the point(s) of my post, which i'll kindly re-iterate for you---1) sometimes shit happens, and there's no one to make pay for it, esp when there's a 90% chance that kidmom didnt have insurance---2) it was a Kid on a Fucking Bicycle, ferchrissakes, who was knocked unconscious, and All Involved Parties should have been more concerned with that---3) Americans, please--for the good of all humanity--suck it up and stop being such whiny-ass titty babies
I like your "facts" - that 50% of all people don't have insurance, and that this girl's parents don't have the money to pay for the damage to this guy's car (because they're black?), which is "only" $200, because everyone knows someone who does cheap body work.
Sure, I can see all that being true, except most people who drive have car insurance, and if her parents are so poor it's odd that she has a bike and they have a TV to watch a football game with. Since the work was "only" going to be $200, maybe he could just take the bike and the tv and they could call it even...in your world.
