Parents Of Dumb Muslim War Hero Continue Doing Terrorism To Donald Trump

This is really going awfully well for him, isn't it?

Donald Trump's idiot attacks on Khizr and Ghazala Khan, the parents of Army Capt. Humayun S.M. Khan, have of course continued, because as everyone knows, you are not allowed to ever criticize Donald Trump without being subjected to a scorched-earth campaign. In addition to wondering why Ghazala Khan didn't speak at the Democratic convention -- maybe she is not allowed to, because you know how THOSE PEOPLE are -- Trump decided the real offense was that Donald Trump was being treated unfairly, because that's the the only only way a complete narcissist reacts to everything. Over Sunday and Monday, Trump worried that all this unseemly attention to one lousy Muslim war hero, who only saved his base and a bunch of civilians from a car bomb attack in 2004 -- was distracting from the real issue: MUSLIMS ARE ALL TRYING TO KILL US!

 
 How could we not include that reply?

Strangely, not a lot of Republicans are rushing to Trump's defense, possibly because most of them have at least vestigial remnants of humanity, or at least advisors who tell them to act as if they do. John McCain issued what your Media Cliche Generator 3000 would call a stinging condemnation of Trump's attacks on parents of a slain U.S. soldier who -- did we mention? -- saved many lives:

That's rather tiny (you can right-click and "view image" in most browsers, but let's just copy for you the final three paragraphs, two of which are bolded and underlined, where McCain is just short of all-caps shouting:

I claim no moral superiority over Donald Trump. I have a long and well-known public and private record for which I will have to answer at the Final Judgment, and I repose my hope in the promise of mercy and the moderation of age. I challenge the nominee to set the example for what our country can and should represent.

Arizona is watching. It is time for Donald Trump to set the example for our country and the future of the Republican Party. While our Party has bestowed upon him the nomination, it is not accompanied by unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us.

Lastly, I’d like to say to Mr. and Mrs. Khan: thank you for immigrating to America. We’re a better country because of you. And you are certainly right; your son was the best of America, and the memory of his sacrifice will make us a better nation – and he will never be forgotten.

Funny, though, he didn't say anything about withdrawing his endorsement of Trump. Other Republican leaders, like Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell bravely issued blandly supportive statements saying nice things about the Khans and avoiding any mention of their party's nominee, because why would they want to bring him up at all?

Mr. Ryan and Mr. McConnell released statements stressing their admiration for the Khan family; Mr. McConnell called Capt. Humayun Khan an “American hero.” And both said they firmly opposed banning Muslim immigration, though neither mentioned Mr. Trump, whom they have endorsed, by name.

“Many Muslim Americans have served valiantly in our military, and made the ultimate sacrifice. Captain Khan was one such brave example,” Mr. Ryan said. “His sacrifice -- and that of Khizr and Ghazala Khan -- should always be honored. Period.”

So brave! Others, like New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte -- who like McCain is in a close reelection fight this fall -- managed to find the strength to suggest maybe Trump had said a bad thing: “I am appalled that Donald Trump would disparage them and that he had the gall to compare his own sacrifices to those of a Gold Star family.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham, between gulps of whatever mint julep might be anywhere within reach, took an even stronger stance, because fuck it, he's not up for reelection this time around:

Like his comments about Judge Curiel, Mr. Graham said, Mr. Trump’s jabs at Mr. and Ms. Khan were unacceptable. “This is going to a place where we’ve never gone before, to push back against the families of the fallen,” he said.

He added, “The problem is, ‘unacceptable’ doesn’t even begin to describe it.”

And Rep. Mike Coffman, A Republican from Colorado and a Marine combat vet, said Trump had insulted The Troops, as if that were a novel observation: “Having served in Iraq, I’m deeply offended when Donald Trump fails to honor the sacrifices of all of our brave soldiers who were lost in that war,” Mr. Coffman said.

Still, Trump has his defenders: Noted Raving Anti-Muslim Screamers Theodore Shoebat and his dad Walid floated a bizarre conspiracy theory that Khizr Khan is actually an agent of the Muslim Brotherhood who is attempting to bring Sharia Law to the United States, which is why he was waving that Constitution around so much last week. We are not going to summarize their "argument" because it is transparent bullshit that boils down to "Khan wrote a law review article in the 1980s about Islamic law in Saudi Arabia, therefore he is a Sharia advocate who wants to behead everyone." Longtime Trump ratfucker Roger Stone dutifully tweeted the news that Khizr Khan is no patriot, but in fact pretty much a terrorist himself, just like Hillary Clinton's wife Huma Abedin!

This only makes sense, given the fact that following his son's death in Iraq, Mr. Khan invited ROTC cadets from the University of Virginia, Humayun's alma mater, over for dinner every year and gave them pocket-sized copies of the Constitution, too. It's the sort of sneaky thing your Islamic Radicals are always up to, losing sons in the American military and then talking up the Constitution.

Oh, and there was one other very, very prominent supporter of Trump's condemnation of the Khan family: The self-proclaimed Islamic State issued a statement Sunday saying that the Khan family had nothing to be proud of, since in fighting for the U.S. Army and preventing that car bomb from taking out his base, Humayun Khan was obviously an apostate and a terrible Muslim. So clearly, the issue really is all about Radical Muslim Terrorists. And in this case, the Radical Muslim Terrorists are with Donald Trump -- the Khan family should be ashamed of themselves. Clearly, as we asked months ago, where do Donald Trump's loyalties really lie? (Answer: With Donald Trump.)
