Gretchen Carlson and Roger Ailes
Gretchen Carlson and Roger Ailes

Oh goodness gracious, there is trouble at Fox News! Gretchen Carlson, the 1989 Miss America who spent many years at Fox News pretending to be stupid, has allegedly been fired for failing to fuck Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, pictured above at right, on his penis. She confirmed that she’s no longer a Fox News Lady, on her Twitter:

gretchen

Carlson filed a lawsuit in Bergen County, New Jersey, alleging that Ailes “retaliated against [her] and sabotaged her career because she refused his sexual advances,” and also because she actually spoke up about sexual harassment at Fox News. Where does the little lady get off, that’s what Ailes would probably like to know!

According to the suit, Ailes told Carlson all her problems at Fox wouldn’t exist if only she would make sex to him, which, we must emphasize, involves making human contact with Roger Ailes’s naked body and genital accoutrements. When Carlson brought her problems to Ailes’s attention, here is what he reportedly said:

I think you and I should have had a sexual relationship a long time ago ago, and then you’d be good and better and I’d be good and better.

EW. Nobody on this planet or any other is “good and better” because of the time they’ve spent inside the pants of Roger Ailes.

So nine months later, at the end of her contract, Gretchen Carlson was fired. Hmmmm, remember when Gretchen decided to be actually smart and advocate for reinstating the federal assault weapons ban? That was just before she was terminated. Wonder if it was somehow her final “fuck you” to the network?

Anyway, Carlson’s allegations are long and detailed. On top of claiming she was denied fair pay and other opportunities because of her completely normal lack of interest in having Roger Ailes grunt sexually on top of her, she tells a story of an insanely hostile work environment for women at the Fox News Network. She says that, during her time at “Fox & Friends,” cohost Steve Doocy was a big honking sexist and serial sexual harrasser who basically treated her like a “blond female prop.”

(And here we always thought Brian Kilmeade was the rapey co-host, because remember the time Gretchen stormed the fuck off the set because Kilmeade was being all rapey and gross? Meh, no worries, all the Fox News dudes are “the rapey one,” and Kilmeade’s official title is safe.)

Upon learning of what chauvinistic buttfucks Carlson was working with at “Fox & Friends,” Roger Ailes allegedly called her a “man-hater” and a “killer” and told her she just needed to learn to get along with them silly boys. Then he probably asked her if he could smush his limp, flaccid penis up into a knot and rub it on her vagina, although that is not specifically stated in the suit. Ailes removed Carlson from “Fox & Friends” in 2013.

Carlson states that, once she had been shunted off to an afternoon time slot, she wasn’t supported like other coworkers who “did not complain about sexual harassment or rebuff [Ailes’s] sexual advances” were, which leads us to wonder which Fox News personalities ARE fucking Ailes. Megyn Kelly? Andrea Tantaros? Sean Hannity? STOP FUCKING ROGER AILES IN THE FANNY, BILL O’REILLY, ALLEGEDLY!

Here is a laundry list of other gross allegations, verbatim, from the suit:

  • Ogling Carlson in his office and asking her to turn around so he could view her posterior.
  • Commenting that certain outfits enhanced Carlson’s figure and urging her to wear them every day.
  • Commenting repeatedly about Carlson’s legs.
  • Wondering aloud how anyone could be married to Carlson, while making sexual advances by various means, including by stating that if he could choose one person to be stranded with on a desert island, she would be that person.
  • Boasting to other attendees (at an event where Carlson walked over to greet him) that he always stays seated when a woman walks over to him so she has to bend over to say hello.
  • Embarrassing Ms. Carlson by stating to others in her presence that he had “slept” with three former Miss Americas but not with her.

Ugh gross vomit BRB throwing up forever. (And also, three former Miss Americas, STOP FUCKING ROGER AILES, ALLEGEDLY.)

Of course, none of this is surprising, considering Ailes’s long, well-documented history of being a rapey, sexist fuckwaffle. Media Matters has a fancy roundup of his obsession with his lady anchors’ legs, and Gretchen Carlson has even spoken of the “No Pants Allowed” policy for women at “Fox & Friends.” They have to wear skirts, presumably so Ailes can sneak peeks of lady crotch whenever he has the opportunity.

Oh, and one time, according to Gabriel Sherman’s Ailes biography The Loudest Voice In The Room, the disgusting pig beast of Fox remarked of Carlson’s Miss America win that “It must not have been a good year.”

Gretchen Carlson would like ALL THE DAMAGES PLEASE, and Wonkette hopes she gets them. We additionally wish her all the success in the world finding a new job where she doesn’t have to act like A Idiot all the time every day of her life.

    Breaking News!!!!

Fox News’ In-House Bimbo Sues Fox News for Treating Her Like an In-House Bimbo!!!!!

    • The Wanderer

She had to portray a stereotypical dumb blonde, wear slinky clothes and sit sort of spread-legged between two oily poltroons. Gretchen was the only reason many Fox watchers swam up out of their hangovers to watch Fox in the mornings.

  • SuspectedDemocrat

There’s really no excuse for Ailes trying to roger the staff. Why doesn’t he just bang Wendy Deng like a normal oligarch?

  • BadKitty904

*THERE* we go! Atta boy, Evan!

What, didn’t Rush Limbaugh have enough fat young Dominican boys to share?

Shudder – you said ‘nailing it’ on a thread dealing with Fox females being required to know Roger Aisles more than anyone should ever have to.

That did it. My empathy is now broken. Thanks FOX!

  • Portia McGonagal

I keep reminding myself to be a better feminist…no one deserves to be sexually harassed.

That said, propagating all the propaganda you did for all those years was A-OK until it was about you. Right Gretch?

    • J_JamesM

Hell, I’m just hoping Ailes and Fox goes down in flames over this, no matter about Gretchen.

      • MrBlobfish

That’s what Employment Practices Liability Insurance is for. He will not take a hit.

        • frrolfe

Hope you’re wrong. What does Mr Lupert think of all this?

        • jmhm

Well, except that Murdoch has apparently decided that he and Trump are brothers in unappreciated vulgarity and taken him on (poor Jerry Hall is probably weighing the benefits of marrying ugly old rich guys as hard as she ever has). His sons are already not fans of Ailes. This could be a really good excuse for Murdoch to get rid of him.

    • unrelatedwaffle

See, I have a separate set of feelings for women with internalized misogyny. Mostly pity, because even when you play by every one of the patriarchy’s rules, you will eventually lose. It just takes some women longer to lose than others. Even women who say really hateful shit about other women, I’m thinking, man, you just don’t know how men really see you, it’s going to crush you one day.

(And this only applies to women who bat for doodz on sexism, not white women who play racist ball. They can shut the entire fuck up no sympathy).

      • Portia McGonagal

I understand and it’s not like I don’t have those feelings too but those better angels and stuff. As a “not a white woman”, I’m definitely with you on the racist ball. Times double, +1.

      • Lamashtar

Kind of feel the same about Trump’s Jewish cohorts saying “Its not that anti-semite..”

      • Vegan and Tiara

Cough…Phyllis Schlafly…cough. If that old bitch ever had to stay at home and take care of her family, like she preaches to other women, she’d curl up and die.

  • Callyson

Where does the little lady get off, that’s what Ailes would probably like to know!

As far away from Roger Ailes as possible?

  • Good_Gawd_Yall

Sorry, but a “journalist” who would work for Faux Noise and deliberately and repeatedly lie to and mislead the American public on behalf of the Republican party is not someone I hope finds a new job. Take your winnings from the lawsuit and go sit down somewhere and be quiet forever, Gretchen.

  • Msgr_Moment

    “No Pants Allowed” policy

Finally, something the Wonkettverse shares with Fox & Friends.

    • CJTX

Heh, not THAT kind of “no pants allowed” policy…you know, the fun kind.

    • frrolfe

I just sent Fox my CV.

  • Lefty Frizzell

Look – good on her for bringing this up, and I hope she gets support and applause for it, and I’m in no way downplaying the seriousness of the charges, in no way suggesting that she brought any of it on herself – nobody should be treated like that – but perhaps she could at some point reflect on the amount of time she has spent railing against “political correctness” and finally join some dots.

    • Lance Thrustwell

You might think! One can only hope.

    • The Wanderer

She very likely had to put up with a lot of it from Day One, but the idea of having The Sex with Ailes was probably the last straw.

    • Zippy W Pinhead

yup, my normal sympathy for someone in her situation is tested a bit by the fact that she had a lucrative career helping to enable the very mindset that brought her problems on. That said, I hope she reams Ailes in court

        • ltmcdies

          just eewwwwhhhh

      • Yes, it’s rather remarkable that she waited until her contract ran out and wasn’t renewed to file it.

        • Beaumarchais?

Well, it’s tangible proof of damage to her career.

    • Boscoe

My guess is you don’t get a job at Fox if there’s any indication you may have an aptitude for “joining the dots”. :P

      • I think the requirements for female hires are “looks good, has great legs, and nice boobs.” Brains are not encouraged. At least, that’s what seems to be the case when I’ve seen Fox News. It’s better to watch it with the sound off.

        • Boscoe

You can kinda blame CNN for that. I remember back in the day they had these AMAZING hotties on HLN, back when they actually still did news.

        • Tendernob

See, I disagree with this. The women on Fox are consistently highly-educated and accomplished. Once hired, they are expected to dumb themselves down and play the “troubled mom who doesn’t understand all these crazy politics!,” in order to connect with an audience that sees intellect as an elitist flaw.

Jon Stewart skewered Fox and Gretchen for this very phenomenon in 2009.

          • OddMan

What gets me is the blatant softcore porn angle. Not only do these ladies have to wear miniskirts, they have to sit on low couches or behind glass desks and the camera angle is always perfect for upskirt shots. And these smart ladies put up with it.

          • frrolfe

I think that the prob is the Fox demographic.I’m an old but not yet in a nursing home but I can see the attraction of Lovely Ladies spewing appalling bigotry if you are an appalling bigot. However, Aile’s future depends (no pun intended) on Murdoch’s take on this. There will be blood. Hopefully Roger will be bleeding from his where evers.

          • H0mer0

While Dana Perino does not inspire confidence regarding her intellect, Carlson was no slouch as a violinist and a Rhodes Scholar (as much as I don’t like to acknowledge Stamfurd.)

    • ltmcdies

not disagreeing with you one jot. Conservatives tend to not quite get something is serious until it hits them between the eyes.

bottom line….if somebody was going to take Ailes on this issue..it would have to be one of his own who can afford the lawyers to do it and can’t be accused by being a secret “liberal”

and nobody but nobody’s job should be dependent on sleeping with the damn boss.

  • SUPER (not) SECRET picture left on the cutting room floor!

  • CJTX

This story needs an ACTUAL photo of Ailes, he’s that fucking gross. Frankly it’s an insult to jabba the hut (I could go all day on this).

  • BigBoppa

I threw this together about an hour ago. Glad to see I’m on the same wavelength as Evan.

  • Zippy W Pinhead

Interesting that she’s suing Ailes personally and not Fox. I get the feeling she wants to ruin him by driving a wedge between him and Murdoch’s kid

  • BadKitty904

Given his busy schedule – making up Faux News stories, rooting for truffles, wallowing, etc. – when would Ailes have time for anything as normal as sex with his minions?

    • Catstro

Clearly he outsources making up Faux News stories to the boy minions. It frees up plenty of time to sexually harass the lady minions, root for truffles, AND wallow in shit.

      • Dee Andee

        Shit wallow libulz!!!!11!!

      • Caepan

Isn’t “wallowing in shit” pretty much News Corp.’s business model?

    • DoILookAmused2u ?

The one that Trump said was bleeding from her whatever was the one with White Santa.

      • H0mer0

Megyn is no air-headed bimbo either, but she didn’t help the stereotype by weighing in on White Santa. My brain does not want to provide me a jpeg of her servicing Ailes.

  • Lance Thrustwell

Jeez, if an established, popular host-type like Carlson was treated that way, the younger, prettier, interchangeable Fox News bimbettes must be freakin’ sex slaves over there.

  • JMP

So Bill O’Reilly’s forced phone sex with the loofah, you know, the falafel thing was just par for the course in treatment of women at Fox. Ugh, this is just so disgusting.

    • Malmborg Implano

To be fair, sexual harassment is an equal opportunity crime that can and does happen in any organization across the ideological spectrum. Bet Gretchen’s glad now that those ugly man-hating feminists who don’t know their place fought for those laws she’s now availing herself of!

  • cleanfront

So Doocy stays … nobody gives Ailes better head than the Dooceman.

  • Joe Beese

In a nearby parallel universe, Roger Ailes is gay and telling Sean Hannity to turn around so he can get a better view of his ass.

What makes you think that universe is parallel?

It could be the only explanation why Hannity is working at all, let alone as a right-wing meat puppet.

  • Walter Wellstone

Fair pay you say? Where was she when Obama brought it up for the first time? Oh, right, she had her head neck-deep in Ailes’ ass tagging the company line.

    • Malmborg Implano

This is what’s known in feminist circles as the queen bee syndrome. “I’m doing fine in a man’s world, if you other ladies aren’t then it’s because you’re not good and pretty and feminine enough.”

    • BMW

      “He’s not terrific!”

      • H0mer0

Yeah, Babe and Wilbur do not deserve to be compared with Ailes.

  • Boscoe

Mmmmmm…. maybe I’m just a horrible person, but I just can’t work up any sympathy for Gretchen. She willingly participated in Ailes’ orchestrated propaganda machine, knew what she was getting into, and was apparently fine enough with it to stay until she was fired.

I DO hope that she exposes the shit out of Fox once and for all, and for that I would be grateful, but I just don’t see her as anything but a disgruntled accessory to a foul effort to undermine what little American intelligence still remains.

    • Its all about gawd money! Give me enough money and I’ll call you daddy… wait that came out all wrong….. wait… I’m done.

      • Good_Gawd_Yall

Hey! Leave me out of this! I ain’t has no money.

    • SnarkOff

She may try, but she’ll be vilified as a lying, gold-digging whore by the idiot hordes, and the Fox News machine will go on, unscathed.

  • Naw. They’ll be smearing her across the pap-stand and dig up something irrelevant to point to.

Gretchen, were you being held as some kind of modern-day slave? Could you not have left? Oh – right, I forgot – you were making a lot of money and getting your fifteen minutes of fame! Guess the sexual harassment and the unequal pay and the locker-room humor didn’t outweigh the very important job of helping spread Republican lies far and wide.

    • nmmagyar

It is hard to both sympathize with the (alleged) victim of harassment and to sympathize with Gretchen Carlson.

    • Dee Andee

Yep, I has no sympathies with women who deliberately profit from a misogynistic atmosphere, then get all butthurt when they realize it also applies to them. I know the first Republican credo is that Rules Only Apply to Other People, but Gretchen, you has a vagina, so, despite who you worked for, you WERE “other.” Ain’t that just the most unfairest thing ever?

      • Boscoe

Worse, she conveniently only “realized it applied to her” AFTER she was fired. So yeah, I have zero sympathy.

thank you… my imagination was drifting towards nail guns, but that is inhumane. BAD imagination! BAD!

  • m3bosha

I’m doing my best to try to feel for her. Nobody should be subjected to such a hostile work environment. However she knew what she was getting into when she took a job at the right wing propaganda emporium with a “no pants for chicks” policy. She spent years spreading lies and playing dumb. Saying that, I hope she wins all the money and burns that shit show down.

    • jmhm

Here’s the thing, though. By all accounts her own politics were conservative to begin with, and she worked her way through college modelling swimsuits in heels, so it’s not as she was unfamiliar with the material or the concept of an appearance code, and it’s kind of proverbial that ‘news hosts’ are chosen for their shiny. Hell, Deborah Norville happened years before Fox was a gleam in Murdoch’s eye.

She still didn’t sign on to be a fuck toy.

    • Also, too, she could have left a LONG time ago, with good cause.

Still, my hatred of Ailes > my hatred for Carlson, so I hope she takes him and his shitbox of a company to the fucking cleaners.

  • Some Say: Roger Ailes wears Tucker Carlson’s old bow ties on his ankles under his suit as ‘trophies’.

    • Boscoe

…we’re not saying he does or he doesn’t, we’re just reporting what *some* people are saying…

  • Malmborg Implano

This coming on the same day as the Chilcot report gives me renewed hope that Murdoch’s Fox empire may finally go die already.

    • The Wanderer

      We can only hope.

  • SeanT1001

It’s too bad it took sexual harassment and near assault to make her take back her brain.

    • Boscoe

Don’t give her credit for being fired. She didn’t mean to do that. :P

  • Good_Gawd_Yall

Notice that she’s not suing Faux for promoting a hostile work environment. She’s not trying to take them down. She just wants a big fat payoff from Ailes, and while I support and cheer any effort to show this sleaze the error of his ways, a fish rots from the head. Where’s the suit against Murdoch and Faux for encouraging this?

    • Boscoe

Wouldn’t look good to the HR department at CNN…

  • arglebargle

Fox News. It’s not good for what ailes you.

  • AngryBlakGuy

…to all the lady folk out there, has this line ever got you to drop your panties?!?!

I think you and I should have had a sexual relationship a long time ago ago, and then you’d be good and better and I’d be good and better.

If so, in my younger years I was going about meeting women completely the wrong way!!!

    • Joe Beese

I go with “Give me that stuff – that funk, that sweet, that funky stuff.”

It may not look like much on paper. You have to deliver it with conviction.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dNIQVYGXbM

    • If it does work, she will not be the one you want.

    • Dudleydidwrong

I used that line once in a bar. The young lady responded “It’ll be good for you and better for me if you fucking disappear.” I decided that it didn’t work.

    • Longstreet63

I heard a story once – as a matter of fact, I’ve heard a lot of stories in my time. They went along with the sound of a tinny piano playing in the parlor downstairs. “Mister, I met a man once when I was a kid,” it always began.

  • DainBramage

Here’s hoping that RA gets nailed to the wall. However, I doubt this will harm FOX Spews in any way. I suspect most their viewers will blame Gretchen.

    • BigBoppa

Many will never know this happened since they only get their “news” from fox.

  • Tendernob

I am shocked to hear there’s sexism at Fox News! What next, assertions of naked partisanship? I can’t wait to hear the fair and balanced reporting on this.

    • limberrat

Gretchen was a shrill woman and never liked any of us and we never liked her! That’s why we gave her a show and lavished her with praise.

  • arglebargle

One would assume CNN will hire her. Put her an a panel with that Lewandowski fellar.

  • kaw143

So, wait. Does this mean that the perennial FoxNews talking point of how great conservatives are for women might just be the tiniest bit untrue?

    • AnOuthouse

Only if you think getting boinked by Ailes isn’t good for women. He thinks he’s doing them a favor.

      • Villago Delenda Est

He’s a lot like Roosh V in that sense.

        • H0mer0

kinda laughable that he said he would withhold his precious body fluids from a woman who doesn’t support Trump and was encouraging other MRAs to do the same. Like aw, gee, that’s punishment?

    • Longstreet63

No, silly, they’re just putting it into practice. Except this broad don’t know what’s good for her, of course…
Aisles has never before had any complaints from his female subordinates, has he? Except for a few troublemakers. Probably bleeding from their wherevers…

    • revenant

      perish the thought

  • SnarkOff

With all due respect to Ms. Carlson, by the time you’ve hate-fucked yourself by working for Fox News, sexual harassment is not all that demeaning.

  • Painter of Goats

Fox News. Preferred by conservative viewers because nothing says family values like mysogeny and sexual harrassment.

    • ClarkJoe

If by ‘family values’ you mean ‘patriarchy,’ then yes. Definitely yes.

    • BadKitty904

And hatred, dishonesty, ignorance, etc., etc.

    • Longstreet63

      The phrase is “Traditional Values”
Although, if you perform them on the immigrant maid, a family is possible.

It’s always, always about the old white son of a bitch and his needs.
    http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/7/6/1545618/-Bernie-gets-Booed

    • limberrat

So is Bernie now wanting to be completely isolated from Republicans AND Democrats?

      • coozledad

We got one running for state office who keeps telling our county Democratic organization we’re “arrogant” for ignoring Bernie. He posted shit to his facebook page saying he wished Hillary would be hit by a car.
Well, his ass is dead in this party. No more money. and he’s shit out of luck if he thinks he’ll get any more input or floor time.

As religions go, his is right up there with the fucks who dressed in Nike sportswear and committed mass suicide.

The “arrogant “people he’s referring to include many people who were directly involved in the civil rights movement. I’m done with him and the rest of the Bernie tantrum. Fucking white privilege run fucking amok.

        • kaw143

Yeah, this fantasy that someone who didn’t win the popular vote and wasn’t even a member of the party before his campaign can somehow set the party platform like a common winner is just baffling to me. He keeps couching it in terms of “millions of people voted for this”. Yeah, and they lost. Totally fair and square. Give it up. You aren’t doing this for them. You are doing it because you want to and it makes you feel important.

          • coozledad

I’m just afraid if we white olds keep this shit up, everyone else will wise up and slice our old balls off proactively.

It just isn’t a good look.

    • limberrat

Jesus, I read the entire thing on Politico. What.in.the.Fuck?

    • Dudleydidwrong

Could this be what Trump means by “Make America Great Again?” Safe for white sons of bitches so that they don’t get accused of doing what they’re doing? “Fox: The only position for females in this outfit is prone.”

  • ClarkJoe

Prediction: By the end of the week Trump, et al, will be accusing Carlson of accepting a bribe from the Clinton Campaign.

    • The Wanderer

Of course! The Queen of Shadows has a long reach.

      • ClarkJoe

Yep. She controls literally everything that happens in the world, but also would be a terribly ineffectual and weak president.

        • The Wanderer

          Just like Obama, then.

          • ClarkJoe

Exactly. It’s all part of the master plan to do something or other that I don’t like and blame all my personal problems on.

  • Msgr_Moment

    Roger’s wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Ailes#Personal_life
“Ailes has had numerous allegations of sexual misconduct arrayed against him. According to a biography by Gabriel Sherman, Ailes offered producer Randi Harrison a raise if she would sleep with him.”

He seems nice. For a soulless repitlian shape-shifter.

    • Villago Delenda Est

I’ll bet the wikipedia moderators have their work cut out for them blocking attempts to edit away unfortunate truths on that page.

  • Thaumaturgist

At least now we know what Ailes her.

  • Nockular cavity

Just for perspective–and to ensure your continued vomiting–here’s a reminder of what Mr. Roger Ailes ACTUALLY FUCKING LOOKS LIKE:

  • AngryBlakGuy

…shit, you think this is bad?! Wait for a Trump presidency!!! He will turn the White House into a tackier version of the Playboy mansion

    • kaw143

And then when he moves out, Trump will make it a condition that the new occupant has to put up with him until he dies.

      • Longstreet63

        Like ex-pope Benny?

    • Everyone invest on grotto futures!

Is this legit? I’m watching Fox right now and I haven’t heard a word about it.

    • The Wanderer

Yes, it’s legit, and Fox can be expected to clam right the hell up about it.

      • redarmyzombie

I’d expect nothing less from Pravda.

      • kaw143

        You said, “clam”.

        • Gary Charound

Oh, so a misogynistic, homophobic, anti minority right wing propaganda clearing house, that uses sensationalist headlines and subtly phrased vile bigoted story lines that divide our country and slowly turns normal Americans into heartless hoofwanking bunglecunts, has an issue with sexual harassment within its ranks as well?

    Say it ain’t so….

      • Villago Delenda Est

Fux News, the softcore porn news you always wanted.
All the female ‘pundits’ will show some hot leg and lot of it.
    Actual quotes:
Ailes: “Move That Damn Laptop, I Can’t See Her Legs!”
Ailes: “I Did Not Spend X-Number Of Dollars On A Glass Desk For Her To Wear Pant Suits”
Ailes: “I Need The Leg. That’s Andrea Tantaros”

Hell, Google “Gretchen Carlson upskirts” and see over 4000 pictures that show just what the bever pervs that run Fux News want you to see.

    • Biff52

If I want pr0n with my news, I’ma go straight to Naked News. And I hope I don’t actually have to label a site called “Naked News” as NSFW.

      • Shan

One of the guys I work with (I’m in construction so it’s almost all guys) discovered Naked News a couple of weeks ago and it was hilarious to watch him freak out. It was like all his birthdays and Christmases were happening at once. I didn’t dare tell him about RedTube, poor thing.

        • Biff52

As long as it gets him to watch the news, I suppose…

          • bobbert

Actually a decent news program, as I recall.

  • malsperanza

Mysteriously, Carlson waited until she got fired before she filed a complaint. One would almost think that she was totally cool with all the crap as long as she could be a Fox Blonde and act important and make big bucks promoting evil.

Yeah, my sympathy for Carlson is exactly zero.

    • Sardonicuss

Why do I think there is a simple explanation:

“She aged out.” – Ailes to Murdoch

      • Villago Delenda Est

        “No longer a 10” – Teh Donald.

      • TheDogAteMyVote

I’m still trying to figure out how Greta got her own show on that channel…she doesn’t fit the stereotype.

        • Sardonicuss

She probably bore some slight resemblance to Roger’s mother – when he was a young Hut.
          Stern matriarch…Momma’s boy. Freudian nightmare.

        • Malmborg Implano

Believe it or not, there was at one time a common supposition that Greta was HAWT. Around the same time that Ann Coulter and Sarah Palin were also HAWT.

          • Caepan

I guess some guys find raving ignorance to be a turn-on.

        No, looks like retaliation.

    • wide_stance_hubby

      There’s no romance without finance?

    • Angela Ruzzo

Well actually, any good labor lawyer will tell you that if you can put up with the harassment for a while, while documenting it fully, it’s better to wait until they fire you before filing a complaint, because an unjust firing makes for a stronger case. This is especially good advice if you are pretty sure that nothing will change at your job if you make a complaint while you work there, because if you do that your work environment can get even worse.

      • malsperanza

Then the discovery documents will be fun to read. Fingers crossed …

    • OddMan

I hope that Ms Carlson actually realized what she had been doing, being a bunny for politics and showing a little skin while spouting right wing bullshit, was demeaning to women and robbing her soul.

I can’t fault her for finally coming to life, I hope.

One thing I will never understand about the sexes. I have known so many lovely women in my life and almost every one of them was self-effacing and could rattle off to you every little flaw they felt they possessed, no matter how tiny or even imperceptible. On the other hand, old sweaty sacks of undigested gluten like this guy believe themselves to be quite the ladies man. What gives?

    • Pat_Pending

It’s that whole ‘male white privilege’ thing we’ve got going on. Big cultural BandAid (TM) has been pulled off our society, and instead of a healed cut we’ve got a raging, fulminating pus-river going on. And it looks like Roger Ailes.

      • revenant

        wild applause, hooting and stamping

    • IHaveThoughts

Mostly the way society treats men and women. Men are taught from a very young age that they deserve women and women are taught from a very young age that every little flaw is a reason that a man might potentially not want to fuck them, thus making them a failure as a human.

      • TheDogAteMyVote

Which is really ridiculous, when you realize how very many flaws a man will overlook when he knows he is going to get to cuddle up to a nekkid woman. :)

    • Serai 1

almost every one of them was self-effacing and could rattle off to you every little flaw they felt they possessed, no matter how tiny or even imperceptible.

Well you know, being told your WHOLE FUCKING LIFE that there’s always something wrong with you somewhere will do that to a person.

      • TheDogAteMyVote

Yep. I guess now that I’m getting older, all those years of seeing nothing but flaws were wasted! I try to convince my daughters of this every day.

        • Serai 1

I rarely even look in a mirror anymore. I certainly don’t waste my money on colored mud to rub into my face. Not giving a shit can be very liberating!

      • Msmlg1979

THIS! Being held to impossible standards of beauty and behavior no one can achieve, being told our whole lives that the only way we have value is through our connections to men, religions that tell us the very functions of our bodies are sinful and dirty, and make us less than men, You run like a girl, I can’t lose to a girl, having words for our anatomy equated with weakness-PUSSY, being paid less, being constantly reduced to our sexuality. I was told in church that the “greatest gift a woman can give her husband is her virginity”. Yep. I could go on and on.

        • Shan

Maybe the MRAs/PUAs are right after all. If we didn’t feel like shit about ourselves ever, Beta Males would NEVER get laid.

          I just grossed myself out.

          • Msmlg1979

I have this idea, probably stupid, that if males, Beta or otherwise, would decide to actually like, respect and treat us well, and do the same for themselves, they would get laid a lot more often. OT: Bernie Sanders, winning friends and influencing people

Sanders also stunned some of the Democrats in attendance when he told them that winning elections wasn’t the only thing they should focus on. While they wanted to hear about how to beat Donald Trump — and how Sanders might help them win the House back — he was talking about remaking the country.

“The goal isn’t to win elections, the goal is to transform America,” Sanders said at one point, according to multiple lawmakers and aides in the room.

Some Democrats booed Sanders for that line, which plays better on the campaign trail than in front of a roomful of elected officials.

        http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/06/politics/jill-stein-hillary-clinton-fbi/

        Money quote:

Feeding into the line of attack that Clinton is corrupt, Stein’s statement also slammed Clinton for mixing the business with the personal — noting that she deleted 30,000 emails that she said were “personal.”

“This is equal to the volume of her emails designated as department business,” the statement reads. “If half of an employee’s email volume is for their personal business, they are not using their time for their job. If Secretary Clinton was conducting personal business for her family foundation through the secretary of state’s office, this is a matter the American public deserves to know about.”

          • Lark_in_the_AM

No, if only we could have persuaded the loonies in the Democratic party that there IS a very large difference between Al Gore and George, Jr. by showing them what was to come.

          • Sardonicuss

            …but without the votes.

          With fire.

          • Sardonicuss

Actually, it was a reference to Bernie purchasing permits in Philly to schedule demonstrations during the convention. 10 permits to be exact.

            With fire.

      • peteywheats

He has like an 81% approval rating in Vermont, so doesn’t really need whatever paltry coins that would be dripped out from DWS.

    • Lefty Frizzell

He’s right, in an abstract way, but I think we’ve seen enough in the last 4 decades to know that although the goal is transforming the country, there is no hope whatsoever of any meaningful bipartisan solution, so the first step towards that goal is gonna have to be winning elections.

      • Lark_in_the_AM

Which progressive policies are being abandoned here? And do you think that Republicans in power won’t continue the systematic dismantlement of every progressive gain since TR? The GOP has to lose, and lose BIG, if it is to salvage itself and move back toward the center in any meaningful way. At that point bipartisan solutions which most people can get behind may happen, but not before then.

        • Lefty Frizzell

None – he’s just warning you to watch your step, and get off his lawn…

    • Greg Comlish

Winning elections is a necessary but insufficient component of fighting for the middle class. When Democrats win power but use that power to collaborate with the ruling class and fail to fight for the middle class, they do very little good for average Americans. And then they quickly lose that power.

      • Astraea

It’s a tough, tough job to try to be the agent of the change Bernie wants when the Democrats have often not been willing to go there even when they can. We’re part of the problem when we just give up because they aren’t perfect, though. While the right wing finds more and more radical people to put into power when they’re unhappy with their representatives, the left just stays home. Because slowly working for progress isn’t very sexy. Meanwhile, the right has the NRA, the Kochs, the Evangelicals, and others who have been patient enough to work over the years to effect their disastrous policies.

But hey, maybe Bernie will stick it to the Status Quoligarchs and win over a lot of people who will run for election, vote, and push the Democrats to the left. I guess crazier things have happened.

        • jmhm

Of course, at that point the right will also have the Court for the next 50 years.

      • keenanjay

A party that is more representative of your beliefs has to be built district, by district. That’s the hard work that must be done to move the party. BTW, what you call collaboration and capitulation, is sometimes just compromise and getting the nation’s business done. I wouldn’t be proud of any liberal who hurt millions of American and cost billions by shutting down the government in a tantrum. So yes, Republicans have it all over us in that regard.

        • Greg Comlish

Where did I ever say winning elections was “collaboration and capitulation”?

I explicitly said that winning elections was a necessary component of fighting for the middle class.

Seriously, there were only 4 sentences in my comment. The first one said we must win elections.

          • keenanjay

Christ you’re touchy! How about checking some of that at the door?
And stop whining. My comment was directed at your second sentence where you specifically spoke of collaboration with the ruling class. True, you didn’t use the word capitulation. I take it back.
Are dense? My comment was synthesized from your remarks complaining about the failure of Democrats, when in power, to effect change -I suggested that a better party must be built so as not to do that.
And yes, seriously, I did read the first sentence. And there were only three sentences, bitch.

          • Greg Comlish

Here’s an idea: If you are uncertain about what I deem “collaboration with the ruling class”, then maybe you should ask me what I mean. That seems like a constructive solution which would clarify my opinion. That would lead to less pointless conflict and animosity than making false assumptions about what I deem collaboration. Also, conflict would be minimized if you resisted labeling a member of your community a touchy bitch.

          • keenanjay

You vented, so did I. It’s over.

          • Greg Comlish

            Calling somebody a bitch isn’t “venting”. That’s a direct, ad-hominem attack.

          • keenanjay

Implying that I can’t read or comprehend means you’re a bitch. Direct, not ad-hominem. It’s what you did, Greg.

          • Greg Comlish

Correction: I didn’t imply you couldn’t comprehend what I wrote. I implied that could have comprehended what I wrote and chose not too.

If your response to “You didn’t understand me” is to lash out with insults, then you might want to think about your anger management skills.

      • Lark_in_the_AM

You think that the Republicans are losing power because they failed to fight for the middle class? That’s a load of bollocks. They retain power in the Congress because the Dems won’t field serious, alternative candidates in gerrymandered states outside of their “safe” districts, and because they are also too disorganized about getting the vote out in non-presidential election years. Plus, there’s this whole GOP propaganda thing that dog whistles to the white male working class that convinces them that things that are decidedly NOT in their best economic interests are. They will come out and vote in high numbers, while simultaneously making it as hard as possible to vote if they think you are inclined to voted Democratic, which can make or break an election in low-turnout years. You can’t “change the world” if you cannot win the votes to make it so. Come and talk to me when you’ve been the trenches a few years, attempting to build a reliable voter base that will come out when needed to make your wishes come true because that’s what they want, too.

        • Greg Comlish

Let me state the obvious: for the Democratic Party to retain credibility with voters, it must deliver results when it has power. The Party’s record on delivering results is, at best, inconsistent.

I sympathize with you about the difficulties faced by Democrats. Still, the issues you raise are not mutually exclusive with the explanation that the Democratic Party has failed to support working people or confront powerful interests. In fact, the GOP propaganda you lament is particularly effective in an environment absent a compelling left-narrative that explains and addresses people’s grievances. Consider the 2010 election: Obama’s failure to break up the banks when he had the chance ultimately left Democrats vulnerable to revanchists attacking Obama for the “bail-out”. Obama wasn’t even in office during the deeply unpopular financial bail-out, but because he failed to take strong action and establish a left-narrative, the country was swayed by tea-party insurgents. Had Obama taken on the banks, that false narrative would not have been able to take root.

          • Lark_in_the_AM

When did he have the veto-proof votes to do that?

          • Greg Comlish

I presume you mean “filibuster-proof votes” since Obama had the Presidency and no need to overcome his own veto.

            3 points:

            1) The Democrats had a filibuster proof majority after Al Franken was belatedly sworn in for the 2009 Senate.

            2) The Democrats had plenary authority to reform the rules regarding the filibuster. They opted against that so it’s really their fault that the filibuster was predictably used against them at every turn.

            3) At that point in time the banks were directly dependent on the Federal Reserve and Obama could have used this to force reforms. The banks were baffled when he did not. And then they immediately funded GOP candidates to fuck Obama over anyway.

          • Lark_in_the_AM

My bad – that’s what I get for trying to do three things at once. Actually I meant get out of the committee proof majority in the house. As far as I can tell, any such legislation was doomed well before it could have gotten a full house vote.

I kinda hate this world sometimes.

Ailes, sadly, is home-grown, in Ohio, so at least he gets to be a hometown boy at the convention. I have to agree about Murdoch, though. And he could definitely have let Ailes rot away in obscurity with Rollins and Stone.

        ever hear of Stolkholm Syndrom?
It’s not excusing their behavior to understand why they are doing what they are doing, and sympathize with the fact they will never, ever, get to be their own person.

        • bobbert

I’ve heard of Stockholm Syndrome, and it refers to something that happens when people are physically held captive. Using it to describe a case where someone voluntarily remains in a bad work environment cheapens the term.

(Please don’t hate me. I quite like your commentary, but this is not a good use of terminology).

      • Shan

They HAVE to shit on feminists and other women in order to retain their Cool Girl status. And I also suspect they do it to redirect the some of the shit they’ve been putting up with onto someone else for a while.

  • Hairstrike Alpha

So Gretchen Carlson refused to ride the whale and now thanks to this lawsuit, Roger Ailes may have to go ride the fail whale. Beautiful, just beautiful.

  • Release the Gretchen!

  • Vincent Ricola

Slay the beasts, Getch! It should be legally assumed that any woman that had to work with those jerkoff Fox morning guys has dealt with work place harassment. I’ll buy her eventual book (on sale).

  • Vienna Woods

Boasting to other attendees (at an event where Carlson walked over to greet him) that he always stays seated when a woman walks over to him so she has to bend over to say hello.

I remember fondly the delightful day that I met Patrick MacNee; as I approached him where he sat, he stood up. It struck me then and now as the most natural and gentlemanly gesture. I think I can safely say to Mr Ailes that John Steed would not approve. Oh, and a hearty fuck you to Doocey.

OK, I have to buy this book now.

  • Iam Reading

So the harassment was ok as long as she was getting paid? Harassment is always evil and wrong. Not speaking up about it immediately and consistently is a form of enabling, which makes it harder for others who have to endure the Ailes of the world.

    • Shan

No. It’s not her fault Ailes or anybody else is an asshole, it’s their OWN fault they’re assholes. Most victims of harassment don’t speak up because they’re afraid of losing their jobs. From what I understand, she spoke up *because* she lost her job for NOT giving in to the worst of the harrassment (sleeping with Ailes).

It’s like saying a rape victim MUST report their attacker to the police, otherwise they’re responsible for the NEXT person their attacker rapes.

      Again, no.

      • Iam Reading

I think you would find we agree 100%, conceptually. Gretchen will prove to be the exception to this rule. The sheer number of times she has thrown her gender under the bus in cases like this is reason enough for me to label her a giant hypocrite. In no way does that make harassment ok. In no way does it make it her fault. I do think it important to ponder the following; she batted down women for years regarding similar issues on the national stage, all while suffering the same kind of harassment she was downplaying when others were experiencing it. She was being paid to be a hypocrite, which is also wrong. Basically, no winners here. Everyone smeared with shit. Again, harassment of this nature is always wrong and not the fault of the victim. Just so we are clear.

        • Shan

I understand you think the harassment was wrong and not her fault. The part I was addressing was this:

“Not speaking up about it immediately and consistently is a form of enabling, which makes it harder for others who have to endure the Ailes of the world.”

That’s what I was disagreeing with. There are a LOT of reasons that people who are being harassed not only put up with it but throw others under the bus. I’m not trying to justify the latter in ANY way here, just reiterating that whatever it was that kept her from speaking up about her OWN harassment in no way contributes to Ailes or anybody else continuing to harass others.

Most people who are being harassed (I’ve been one of them) are in survival mode. They don’t really have room in their heads to consider going public in order to become a positive role model for everyone else who’s suffering the same thing. They’re just trying to get through one more shitty day and figure a way to get out alive and/or without ending up with some gross guy’s dick in their face.

          • revenant

it is too easy for a male to throw shade on a woman for putting up with something we never have to experience. who hasn’t let a boss get away with something we should have reported, because we needed that fucking paycheck?

playing her part in the hate machine that is Fox is morally reprehensible, no question. but that does not mean that she has no rights we can or should respect. who knows, maybe this might open her eyes to what she has been a part of

          • Vegan and Tiara

Republicans rarely change, she’ll probably still be an asshole.
I do loather her slightly less than I did yesterday.

          • Vegan and Tiara

Most women can’t escape sexual harassment because they can’t afford to just quit their job to get away from some gross dude. She stayed because she was making massive amounts of money. She’s not a good hill to die on.

          • Shan

Money is not the main issue here. JFC. Even if it WAS the only issue, was she supposed to quit and go do something else at a fraction of the salary she was earning before just so she could avoid getting some gross guy’s dick stuck in her face?

          • Vegan and Tiara

I have a hard time working up sympathy for someone who is worth millions, and really doesn’t have to work, and who helped propagate the right wing’s message that women should be seen and not heard for over a decade. She pretended to be a ditzy blonde for years, when she’s actually quite intelligent. You think she’d give a shit about me if I was making minimum wage and getting harassed by my boss? She wouldn’t piss on me if I was on fire, and I feel the same way about her.

          • Shan

Don’t stress yourself out about it, then.

          • Vegan and Tiara

Rest assured, I’m not shedding any tears for poor, dear Gretchen. If she announces she’s supporting Hillary and devoting her life to making sure women receive equal pay for equal work, and don’t get sexually harassed on the job, I’ll be the first to sing her praises. If she continues to support the right wing’s war on women, which she WILL, I’ll continue to not give a fuck about her.

    • Jen_Baker_VA

Blaming the victim is never ok. Authority figures preying on underlings has a long and sordid history and there is plenty of understanding as to why someone would not speak up right away. Loss of employment, blacklisting and even litigation being among those reasons.
      .

      • Iam Reading

As previously stated, harassment is always evil and always wrong. My complaint with Gretchen is too long to list. After watching her victim blame and women bash for over a decade, I just can’t shed any tears for her. That said, I hope she kicks Roger in the financial go-downs and I hope it has a Cascade effect. No one, no matter how awful they have been should have to endure that treatment. I don’t blame her for being a victim, but I don’t have to cheer her hypocrisy either.

      • Iam Reading

I think victim blaming is bad. I think passive enabling is bad. In this particular case, I can think these thoughts simultaneously.

    • Malmborg Implano

We don’t know how many times Gretchen called out Roger in private before she went public. Certainly his predatory behavior towards female Fox employees has been rumored for years, so somebody’s been talking about it. There may have been private payouts and mediation before this. Not to mention Ailes is part of a powerful international media empire that has very effective ways of shutting people up. Snitches get stitches, you know.

May Roger Ailes be publicly humiliated after losing a long and embarrassing series of lawsuits. May he lose his money, power, and influence and spend the rest of his days the laughingstock he should always have been.

    • therblig

questioning people who lie for a living? hmm.

  • SadDemInTex

Two things…when she lost it about the gun humpers I knew something was up. As Jon Stewart pointed out in 2009 she was a BRILLIANT student and fantastically talented in many fields. That she allowed FOX to make her look like the dumbest bunny is a travesty. And as a professional musician she was good enough to have a solo career but choose to make $$$$$$$$$ in the entertainment industry because she could. The second thing: I think she was getting a bit long in the tooth for Ailes so that it was drop trou or good-bye because she was no longer good enough eye candy to keep saying no.

    • Vegan and Tiara

I also assumed she was getting old, and that’s why Ailes wanted her gone.

Maybe this is victim-blaming, but isn’t there an old saying about playing with hogs and getting dirty? Did Gretchen think she was too smart for those assholes to harass her when she took that job? Did she go to work at Fox thinking, “Now I’m going to shine a light on the world,” or something?

If she starts recanting all that RWNJ bullshit she’s been saying on air all these years, do we welcome her to the Good Guys’ Side, or does she have to do some penance for a while? I’m torn.

    • Duke

People will do things for fame and money.

    • jmhm

Like most of us who work for a living, she sold what she had to sell, which was her appearance, her expertise in public speaking in front of leering men, and her willingness to talk reactionary political shit (which by all accounts she believes). She did not sell her body to Roger Ailes.

The men with her job don’t have putting out for disgusting old men in their job description. Neither does she.

      • revenant

don’t much approve of the choices she made, but never been in a position to make them, so… hope she starts making better ones.

          • revenant

yep. Hamlet, Act 2, Scene 2

    • Shan

Yeah, it kinda does sound like victim blaming.

“Sorority girl went to a frat party and got sexually assaulted. What did she expect? It was a FRAT PARTY. Everybody knows what happens at frat parties.”

(edit) You don’t have to like her or her career or even anything she’s ever said, but what happened to her was wrong and nobody deserves that kind of treatment.

      • JustDon’tSayDittos

Yeah, I’m mixing up two things, aren’t I? The frat rats are a great analogy. So taking that model, yes, the assaults are unforgiveable.

But taking it a step farther (probably wrong, but WTF), let’s say it’s one of those racist, elite-class frat. If a pretty girl goes to that party, doesn’t get molested, but participates in race-baiting singalongs, and maybe yelling slurs at passersby who might be a different color or something – don’t we have a different opinion of her because she was at the party.

That’s what I was going for, and instead blamed the victim. My bad; I’ll try to do better. Maybe just stick to dirty jokes and the like for the rest of the day…

        • Shan

That’s why I used “sorority girl” in the analogy. They’re invested in the culture. So was Carlson. It seems, by some of the comments here, that fact keeps her from being allowed to be the sort of “perfect victim” that everyone wants to identify and sympathize with, and that’s part off the problem, culturally. Because the “perfect victim” is unicorn-rare. And there’s a reason for that: It keeps so few people from coming forward with charges. Which happened in Carlson’s case. And for which she’s being roundly criticized now by some folks here.

I’m actually surprised she DID develop the ovaries to come forward, considering that her introduction to her career in the media was via beauty pageant meat markets. I don’t think that’s an excuse for any prior bad acts she did as a person who was paid to make horrible words come out of their face on THAT network. But I also don’t think those prior bad acts should be used as a reason to say that she deserved whatever she got while she had that job, or that she’s culpable for the abuse anyone ELSE suffered before she spoke up. (Not that YOU are saying these things, I’m just talking out loud at this point.)

          • Be Gin

Good stuff. Although she participated in the sleaze at FOX she did find a line she could not cross. And to come forward has exposed her to the shit-storm that comes with saying “no” to sleaze balls.

          • JustDon’tSayDittos

So let’s see what happens next. I really want it to turn out she was forced to stick to a script, and now she rejects all that vile shit.

And I’d like to see Ailes and his bros pay up some real moneyz for that toxic work environment.

      • Hairstrike Alpha

I blame the victim. But then I’m always the real victim when anyone else is victimized so therefore, I’m blaming myself? It’s your fault that I had this thought!

        • Shan

I think there’s medicine for that.

    • Malmborg Implano

I’m one of those women who’ve had to get by on sheer force of personality, but I’ve had beautiful friends and I gather from them that they’ve had to pretty much develop rhino hides when it comes to men coming on to them. Gretchen may have taken pride in being able to have a successful career while dodging the casting couch and felt she had earned the right to be taken seriously.

    • JD Mulvey

Personally I’d rather reward the people who behave with integrity. They do exist.

  • Duke

Amazingly, there’s no story on the Faux News website on this story.

Spin, assholes, spin. You’ll figure out something.

  • Msmlg1979

Oh, girl. Girl, girl, guurrrllll. That hate-machine you helped whip into a frenzy all those years is getting ready to come at you with a vengeance. You won’t be the first of us fucked over by something we helped bring about, and you won’t be the last. I hope you make it through, better and stronger, and with lessons learned. You have worth and value that never needed to be attached to any man or any job to be valid. I hope you figure that out, then go out and help other women avoid situations like this.

    • Cindyinencinitas

      To The View with her!

      • Msmlg1979

Yes! And write a book while you’re at it. Tear their playhouse down, Gretchen! For Girls and America!

    • Vegan and Tiara

You crazy optimistic kid! Carlson will probably go to work for some RWNJ think tank where she’ll try to deny other women the right to safe and legal abortion, no maternity leave, and limited damages for being fired for not putting out.

      • JD Mulvey

Exactly. She’ll get a settlement from Ailes and she’ll sign a gag order, and that will be the end of it. Ailes will be as much of a pig to the next woman who comes to work for him. Rinse and repeat.

I realize there’s a desire to avoid victim blaming/shaming here, and I agree: It’s not her fault, and she shouldn’t have to put up with harassment as the cost of having a career. That said, Carlson’s hardly a champion for sisterhood here. She’ll get her check and walk away –probably with a job where she’s the mouthpiece for limiting the rights and opporunities of other women.

        • Vegan and Tiara

Exacalacky! I’m a feminist, and while Gretchen Carlson’s harassment (while making millions by acting like A idiot) is unfortunate, it’s not a hill I’m going to die on. She’ll go on to some other horrible RWNJ gig after Ailes pays her to get lost, so she’s a victim that I have a hard time ginning up any sympathy for.

          • Indeed, I’ll bet in the end she’ll blame those “uppity feminist” for her trouble (they seem to be the “go-to” recipients of recriminations when fools fall victim tonthe discrimination they advocate.)

      • Msmlg1979

        I hope not, V&T!

    • Jennifer R

Not being renewed can certainly be retaliation, and I think most people would at least colloquially call that fired.

    • Shaydee

Fox didn’t renew the contract of the Mat-Su mush mouth herself, Sarah Palin. Roger Ailes said he hired her because she was ‘hot.’ Not because she was intelligent, competent, politically savvy, knew current events and geography; no, she was ‘hot.’ Hmm… Was it money well spent, Roger??

Any one who has been sexually assaulted always bears the scars of that experience. (I was in high school). No matter how smart, talented, or strong your personality it can cause you to act against your own soul. After reading this article I fully understand now why Gretchen could endure this endless harassment…she thought she deserved being put down and denigrated and made to feel horrible about herself. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/06/26/how-a-fox-news-host-handled-sex-assault.html Please try to understand how horrible it is…especially in her profession (well…in every profession where there are high stakes of money and fame).

    • kaydenpat

Good point. While I don’t agree with her politics, she didn’t deserve this mistreatment and should win her lawsuit. Perhaps other women at Fox News will speak up on her behalf. I doubt that Ailes isn’t sexually harassing other women.

      • Erik Lonnrot

Jesus in the middle of the threesome?

        • sorbs

After all, he does have those three extra holes.

          (too soon?)

          • kaydenpat

            Boo!

          • Shan

            GAH

        • Be Gin

          Make Mine Cthulhu!

      • Vegan and Tiara

You ever seen those photos of that extra set of footprints in the sand next to you as you walk along the beach thinking about Jesus? Be afraid of those footsteps is all I’m sayin’.

      • Mehmeisterjr

A couple, three years ago there was a story about a couple who are devout, born-again Christian swingers. So something like that?

    • Be Gin

He’s an on-air TV news reader.

So…No, he did not write anything because, by definition, he CANNOT write.

      • Shaydee

Doocy wrote “The Mr. & Mrs. Happy Handbook.” I kid you not.

        • That’s a ode to his testicles, right?

  • Sam Hain

Typical Reichwinger, fuck everybody else until it happens to you…then cry wolf.

  • Lee D

    Carlsonghazi!

  • NoMore Moose

Ailes never got spodly head with me also not. Have you seen Todd? No have you really seen him?

  • Courser

Well, at least I haven’t had dinner yet or it would be re-appearing about now.

    Ickness forever. Bleh.

Also too, for all that men call women disgusting pigs, Ailes is like the God King of disgusting pigs.

  • Paperless Tiger

The hardest part would be convincing a jury that she thought Fox News was a real news channel. Nobody’s that stupid.

  • TundraGrifter

So Ms. Carlson says “Roger. Let’s go for it. But I want it to be fun. Take off all your clothes and sit in the chair in the middle of the office. I’ll walk in like it’s my first job interview.”

    Roger: “OK.”

Ms. Carlson: “I’ll be back in five minutes. You just make sure you’re good and ready the moment I walk in.”

She walks out, waits five minutes, and then tells his secretary “Mr. Ailes wants to talk with you. Right away.”

    • OneWhiteWhisker

He probably already does that to his secretary at least twice a day.

      • Erik Lonnrot

Would work better with O’Rielly instead of the secretary.

    • Fox and Friends (with benefits).

      • TundraGrifter

Unfortunately, no benefits for the women forced into having sex to keep their jobs. I’d say it’s more like “Fox and Friends (with no benefits).”

  • Zhu Bajie

If she moved to Russia Today, a lot of heads would explode!

  • snark-lurker

hard feelin sympathy 4 someone who was paid so much for so long to tow(sic) the rwnj shit waggon called Fox ewNews and yet…

  • Vegan and Tiara

Uggh…so many things wrong with this whole story, but I now have a smidgen of respect for Gretchen for turning down Roger’s gross penis. The fact that she had to act like A idiot every day should have been her first clue that she needed to get a real job, at a real news station. It’s hard to feel sorry for anyone in this story.

    • That’s the thing. She didn’t just “act like an idiot” she participated in the type of slut-shamey, antifeminist rhetoric that hinders the very sexual harrasment claims that she is now filing.

      • Vegan and Tiara

I have to admit that I haven’t really shed a tear for poor Gretchen. I really just can’t gin up any sympathy for her.

  • phoenix00

BillO ALLEGEDLY doing Roger Ailes? Now that’s a train wreck.

    Plus the fact he’s going through a divorce….. HMM…..

  • kaydenpat

Not surprising that an entitled buffoon like Ailes thinks that every pretty woman owes him favors. Let’s see where this lawsuit ends up. Interesting.

  • Biel_ze_Bubba

Carlson can’t be the only Faux newsblonde that Ailes has gone after. My fondest hope is that this turns into another Bill Cosby situation,
with women coming out of the woodwork with their “me too!” stories.

    • Vegan and Tiara

I’d HOPE Roger Ailes gave me roofies before sexing me up. If I wasn’t comatose, I’d be busy barfing the whole time. I could probably get past his horrible looks if it wasn’t for his horrible personality on top of it.

      • Pickwicknext

He probably likes the vomit. And i just grossed myself out…

        • Vegan and Tiara

He’s probably used to women vomiting at the sight of his nude body, or just being in his presence.

          • Pickwicknext

Or thinking about him at all

  • paltroony

Jabba The Dogpile accused of drooling over lady-parts? I am shocked! Not really, but happy to see JTD spin a little on the rotisserie of public outrage. One thing did stand out in the Huff Post article, that being Carlson’s comment on Doocey’s behavior:”…treat her as an intelligent and insightful female journalist rather than a blond female prop.” How naive did she have to be to not understand eye candy props are one of Fox News’ major attractions. Fuck the journalism, the GOPPERS and Thumps want leg shots and the occasional low angle skirt-peek. Just shut up and edge that skirt up a bit, bitch.

    • MRC210

I thought Doocy was the blond prop.

      • paltroony

I guess it depends on which side of the canoe your oar is on.

      • Mehmeisterjr

No, no, no! Doocy is the blond poop. Proofreading, please!

    • PaulaQ

Did she think the lady props sat behind glass desks so the Jabba could admire their shoes ? She had to know he was sitting in his office imagining how he was gonna give her a really good rogering.

  • TeeRaak

    Come on down, Gretchen Carlson.

You’re the next contestant on The Price is So Wrong
    https://media2.giphy.com/media/mMWgoBk9sqVMI/200w_d.gif

  • Not only am I more than a little appalled by the notion of Ailes being eewww and that any of the”talent” would work there under those circumstances, but… oh fuck it! These people deserve each other.

  • Blender_415

First: That kind of behavior in the workplace, ANY workplace, is absolutely disgusting and GC should take them to the cleaners (if they did it).

Second: That being said: To hell with her – she was just another stupid prop for Fox… and I hope it doesn’t happen, but she’ll probably be doing the same thing for CNN or MSNBC before long.

    • rachelmap

I remember reading somewhere that once somebody works for FOX, no reputable news agency will have them, so maybe not.

      • PaulaQ

So she’ll sign the nondisclosure and go to CNN?

      • I guess it’s a good thing that we no longer have “reputable news agencies” in this country.

  • Enfant Terrible

“Roger Ailes’s naked body and genital accoutrements.”

    1. “Accoutrements” is a little bit too high-falootin’ for something that does not extend beyond the man’s belly.
    2. I’m eating dinner here, for fuck’s sake.

    • Mehmeisterjr

Well, they are not real accoutrements but, having observed Evan Hurst’s mastery of sarcasm, I accept them as snark-accoutrements.

  • Mehmeisterjr

My take is that despite the fact that I have little to no respect for Gretchen Carlson and despite the fact that karma is a bitch and despite the fact that she knowingly worked for Fox News and despite what the hell did she expect and despite several more despites that I’ll think of later…

    Nevertheless…

No, nope, no way, nowhow does anyone, I mean anyone “deserve” to be treated the way Roger Ailes (allegedly) treated Gretchen Carlson (and now [allegedly] ten other women and counting.) So Roger, stick that in your pipe (or whatever that vestigial cocktail weenie you are brandishing may be) and smoke it.

    • Rotisserie Teal

Roger hasn’t seen his cocktail weenie for some time I’d reckon.

    • Shan

Yes, this. Just because nobody can bring themselves to like her (and possibly with good reason, I don’t know because I’ve never had to listen to her ever say anything) it doesn’t mean that we can’t still give her a big-ass BOOYAH for litigating the everloving fuck out of Ailes and Fox and all that sleazy-ass bullshit.

    • ltmcdies

I operate on the assumption if there’s one well known victim who might have some ability to push back there are dozens office and off camera women who’ve been subjected to Ailes but aren’t in a position to push back
Dislike Carlson’s politics but go git him, Gretchen.
As Cosby taught the nation…there’s always more than one

    Party ON America!

  • DracaJam

My disdain for sexist, slime ball, misogynist, fuck-face, shit-for-brains men outweighs my disgust for the bimbo brigade. I hope Miss America cleans his clock, (and bank account).

  • Shaydee

On election night, November 2012, Megyn Kelly made a dramatic walk back into the bowels of Fox headquarters in order to find out if President Obama had, indeed, won Ohio. He did. However, the cameraman walked closely in front of her, and from the low angle, the viewers got a very long, good look at Megyn’s legs.

  • Shoto

If Carlson was smart, she built a case over time by keeping a scrupulous diary and/or making audio recordings. If that’s the case, then NewsCorp might very well be writing a big, fat check, just like they did for wife-beater, sexual harasser, congenital liar, rageoholic scumbag lowlife, Bloviating Bill-O. Hopefully, Carlson refuses the big check (which would undoubtedly involve signing a “never say anything forever and ever, amen” agreement), opting instead for a settlement of $1.29, and no NDA. If she does go for the cash (thus opting to legally muzzle herself), then she should demand $40-Hunnerd-Leventy-Gillion of the Monies, minimum. Failing that, everything goes public, however Ewwww, disgusting and gross the lurid details might turn out to be.

  • Mr Sincere

I loved the picture of Ailes on the right! Funny!! And there is a certain resemblence. Scary!

    • CarolinaStewPie

It’s truly unfair to Jabba. Ailes is so hideous he makes mighty Jabba look like Channing Tatum.

      • the_steamer

Jabba was an honest black market kingpin. he doesn’t deserve to be associated with filth like Fox News.

  • Dolmance

I must be one toxic motherfucker, amusing myself with images of Andrea Tantaros and Michelle Malkin and all the rest, getting porked by Roger Ailes unspeakable little sex organ.

    GAH! GAH! GAH! :)

    • sherrdbw

Gag!!! Andrea’s dating Dave Navarro, he’s almost as hot as Roger Ailes.

      • Dolmance

Maybe, just maybe, inside every fat Roger Aisles, a skinny Dave Navarro is just screaming to get out.

        (or vice versa)

        • sherrdbw

I try not to think about Roger Ailes at all.

    • Frank Underboob

ARRGH! – My penis just turned inside out, you monster!

    • SDGeoff

I find that extremely amusing. I will carry that all day.

  • Wee Mousie

Here’s hoping Gretchen fights the case through to the bitter end and gets custody of Faux Noose, then turns it into a 24/7 Women’s Sports Channel.

  • Krombopulous Pichael

oh boy, and you KNOW she’s not the only one…

trigger bill cosby-esque avalanche sequence in 3-2-1….

will this be what actually brings Fux News down? wow. makes sense, though, really

    • Shan

It’s already happening. Yesterday, at least 10 other women contacted Carlson’s attorneys.

    • It has to. I mean look how much Bill O’Reilly’s falafel-based exploits have ruined his career…

      ..oh wait.

      • Krombopulous Pichael

this is the head of the network tho..

  • puipui

I don’t think I’ve ever said this before in my entire life, but FUCK YEAH GRETCHEN CARLSON YOU GO GIRL!

  • kaw143

Well, I would bang Roger Ailes on his penis. With a hammer. (Made of votes.)

    • Brendan_M

      A ball-peen hammer?

      • Frank Underboob

        Well played!

  • sherrdbw

I’ve always gotten the impression that Steve Douchebag was a creepy pervert.

  • Martin L

No women deserves this sort of treatment under any circumstances. But what was Ms Carlson thinking when she went to work for Fox “news”—a propaganda outlet known for spewing hate rhetoric. The network’s misogyny and racism are well known and stem from both Ailes and Murdoch.

Maybe Ms Carlson should ask herself if she helped the network advance its efforts towards the denigration of women, racial and religious minorities and gays.

    • Brendan_M

By exposing Ailes and the gross culture at FOX, and raising awareness of misogyny and sexual harassment more generally, she has a chance to do a lot more good than the evil she played a minor part in by working for FOX News on the first place. I think we should be supportive of that effort.

Years ago, Jon Stewart revealed that Gretchen Carlson was secretly very talented and smart. I’ve felt more pity for her than disdain since then.

“I’m so sick of this political correctness (when it involves anyone other than me)”
    ~every Fox News anchor

  • “Toughen up, Buttercup.”

    –Megyn Kelley

    • the_steamer

I get what she’s saying, but this isn’t a marriage or a personal relationship, this is a business, and one of ideological propaganda at that! If she didn’t like the job, how was any amount of money or any contract worth continuing to do it?

  • Frank Underboob

As much as I find Gretchen Carlson utterly repellent, sexually (& politically, obviously), it’s even more disgusting that she & her colleagues have to put up with this shit. Wouldn’t it be nice if Faux Noise were to be crushed under an avalanche of lawsuits?

  • Nyumbu
