A.G. Loretta Lynch Trigger-Warning Safe-Space Memory-Holes Orlando Pulse Shooter's 911 Calls
Before President Barack Obama became President Barack Obama, I wrote a remarkably prescient endorsement of him at the newspaper (a sort of Internet made out of trees! ) of which I was editor-in-chief. The worst thing he would do, I explained, again totally like a psychic person, is be a little centrist and a lot given to secrecy.
This turned out to be very correct!
Now Attorney General Loretta Lynch tells the television news people that she will be releasing transcripts of Omar Mateen's hostage negotiation calls with 911 -- but that they'll be redacted to avoid the part where he claims to be a big ol' ISIS-loving terror jerk.

LORETTA LYNCH: What we're announcing tomorrow is that the FBI is releasing a partial transcript of the killer's calls with law enforcement, from inside the club. These are the calls with the Orlando PD negotiating team, who he was, where he was... that will be coming out tomorrow and I'll be headed to Orlando on Tuesday.
CHUCK TODD: Including the hostage negotiation part of this?

LYNCH: Yes, it will be primarily a partial transcript of his calls with the hostage negotiators.

CHUCK TODD: You say partial, what's being left out?

LYNCH: What we're not going to do is further proclaim this man's pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups, and further his propaganda.

CHUCK TODD: We're not going to hear him talk about those things?

LYNCH: We will hear him talk about some of those things, but we are not going to hear him make his assertions of allegiance and that. It will not be audio, it will be a printed transcript. But it will begin to capture the back and forth between him and the negotiators, we're trying to get as much information about this investigation out as possible. As you know, because the killer is dead, we have a bit more leeway there and we will be producing that information tomorrow.

Perhaps there is a "stop further terrorism by discouraging copycats" angle to this, and every time someone shouts "BABA BOOEY I LOVE ISIS," 15 minors go down to the gun show and pick up whatever the gun people are very angry that we're calling "an assault weapon" today.

Oh, if that is the case, it's not what Loretta Lynch told CNN? The reason to release only partial transcripts is to keep survivors from being "revictimized"?
DANA BASH: And what will the transcripts tell us?
LYNCH: They will talk about what he told law enforcement on the ground as the events were unfolding.
BASH: And what did he tell them?
LYNCH: You know, as we have said earlier, he talked about his pledges of allegiance to a terrorist group. He talked about his motivations for why he was claiming at that time he was committing this horrific act.
He talked about American policy in some ways. The reason why we're going to limit these transcripts is to avoid revictimizing those who went through this horror. But it will contain the substance of his conversations. And there were three conversations between this killer and negotiators.
General Lynch, any transcript of this asshole is going to "revictimize" the victims of his massacre; leaving out the "Radical Islamic Extremist" part -- even if it was a sort of psychological smokescreen on his part to distract from the fact that interviews with Pulse regulars suggest he was a raging, and we do mean "raging," closet case -- isn't going to wrap the shooting's survivors in a soothing hug. It's just going to make you and the DOJ and the entire administration sound shifty as fuck, and as if you can't trust the American people to see through his insane declarations to the underlying pathologies. To be fair, you can't trust the American people to see through dick, especially when their political or bloggy or radio-talk-show-host livelihoods depend on not seeing through dick. But at the same time, you're really not supposed to leave out the stuff that could be even slightly germane, because it gives the Breitbarts and the Daily Callers an actual reason to say you're Memory Holing, and a hook for the truly insane to explain that Obama covers up for the terrorists because he is one. (We are talking about Donald Trump.)
So maybe you could reconsider this one, and err on the side of not giving "ammunition" (see what we did there?) to all the lunatics about how Obama personally murdered all those nice gay folks with Islam, kthxbai.
Unless this is some more eleven dimensional chess designed to make the GOP wonder why they keep losing at checkers, I see no use for this. Full disclosure, I suck at chess.
I'm wondering if it doesn't keep the anti-Islam memes going on the right, therefore further driving that wedge between conservatives and straight up crackers. Also, maybe sending the "independent" vote fleeing from the right or at least the ballot boxes is an idea. I know that Islam is not a popular subject with conservatives who want to win elections outside of lunatic bigot strongholds, but I don't see this as a good way to win support for the Dems. Or for that matter, a good way to do anything. If he says in his own words that he claims allegiance to more than one group, it becomes obvious he has no allegiance. Why would we not get all of it if it's going to be transcribed anyway. I think this is just weird.
