Maybe he should let his daughters do all his reading for him
[contextly_sidebar id="ZehhsOZtlSITwbiuf0DK46Y15RKFrGwH"]You guys hear the woeful tale of Ted Cruz trying to obtain affordable healthcare for his family, in Tyrant Obama's Socialist America? No, not the one about when Cruz briefly considered -- shudder, gasp -- Obamacare , after giving up his sweet sweet golden balls insurance provided by his wife's employer, the evil Goldman Sachs. (Of New York! With New York values!! And New York money for Cruz campaigns !!!)
Cruz ultimately decided he'd rather pay a metric (because Canadian) ton of northern North American currency from his own pocket to purchase anti-Obama insurance, opting out of the far more affordable employer-subsidized insurance through the Obamacare exchange program. Because principles. Also because idiot.
Cruz's latest outrage is about the president's jackbooted thugs forcing Cruz's private insurer to cancel his insurance, leaving Cruz's family vulnerable to exorbitant out-of-pocket healthcare costs like a common American who didn't have health insurance until Obamacare. What if Cruz spanked his lying little shit daughter (the dear angel) extra hard, and she sustained injuries that required medical attention?! Damn you, Obamacare!
"I’ll tell you, you know who one of those millions of Americans is who’s lost their health care because of Obamacare? That would be me," Cruz told a Manchester, New Hampshire, audience. "I don’t have health care right now." [...]
"So our health care got canceled, we got a notice in the mail, Blue Cross Blue Shield was leaving the market. And so we’re in the process of finding another policy," Cruz said. "I hope by the end of the month we’ll have a policy for our family. But our premiums — we just got a quote, our premiums are going up 50 percent. That’s happening all over the country. That’s happening in New Hampshire."
Oh man, that's rough. Maybe Ted Cruz is right, and Obamacare is THE WORST, even though Ted Cruz was not enrolled in the Obamacare exchange, but anyway, point made! Too bad Cruz's entire story is moose dung:
[I]t turns out the U.S. senator from Texas and his family appear to be insured after all.
A campaign spokeswoman said Cruz's insurance policy was indeed cancelled but that he didn't realize his provider, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, had automatically transitioned him and his family onto a new policy.
Cruz's campaign spokeschick Catherine Frazier explained in a statement that Cruz had a really good reason for not knowing his family remained insured: It's someone else's fault.
The broker did not inform him that Blue Cross had automatically enrolled the family in another policy, an HMO with far more limited coverage. Based on this information, Sen. Cruz believed the family was uninsured and asked the broker to pull quotes immediately for a new policy.
You'd think a guy with an Ivy League education and a law degree would be capable of reading a notice from his insurance company without needing someone else to explain it to him. You'd think a small government personal responsibility fanboy wouldn't blame his insurance broker for his own failure to read his paperwork carefully. You'd think a fiscal conservative like Cruz would have opted for the far more affordable employer-based insurance option, since that's the healthcare system Cruz wants to implement when he repeals Obamacare.
Except we are talking about Ted Cruz, who is not the worst person on the planet but definitely a contender. So of course Cruz blamed Obamacare, and his insurance broker, for Ted Cruz being a goddamned idiot. He should definitely keep that up, and maybe he'll get Sarah Palin to jump the Trump ship and give Cruz the old drunk-as-fuck you betcha.
So apparently she's taking a leave of absence while he's on the campaign trail, so her insurance lapsed.
makes a better case for single-payer.
