The most recent lone wolf to attack a Planned Parenthood, killing three and wounding nine others, appeared in court in Colorado on Wednesday to face murder charges, and yeah, Robert L. Dear is pretty proud of hisself:

I am guilty there will be no trial. I am a warrior for the babies. […] You’ll never know the amount of blood I saw in that place.

Reports in the media have stated Dear considered himself a devout Christian, with a long history of being pro-life, including an earlier attack on Planned Parenthood, but that was just with glue guns instead of the deadly kind.

We don’t know yet whether Dear was radicalized by some of America’s extreme “pro-life” organizations and leaders, or whether he radicalized himself with “pro-life” material on the internet, Fox News, and out of the facehole of every “pro-life” politician running for president or serving in Congress.

Federal authorities have in no way suggested, for example, that Dear ever had contact with Operation Rescue, one of the nation’s most preeminent “pro-life” organizations, but it would be irresponsible not to speculate, wouldn’t it? Operation Rescue President Troy Newman has previously supported murdering abortion providers. Cheryl Sullenger, senior vice president, served time in federal prison for plotting to bomb an abortion clinic and later provided information about Dr. George Tiller to his pro-life assassin, Scott Roeder.

While some argue it’s too soon to panic, or we ought not paint all pro-lifers with a broad brush, it hardly seems too much to ask that Congress, our governors, and the president of the United States immediately act to ensure that there are no pro-lifers within our borders, for the security of our American citizens.

He was just following the commandment: “Thou shalt kill.”

    Or maybe I am confused.

    • JMP

Have you read the Bible? God orders says exactly that to his people all over the place, in fact it’s often “thou shalt commit genocide” – he’s a bit of a hypocrite, in addition to being a total monster.

      • Arse Grammatica

        Oh yeah.
But I still am confused. Thought there was a list somewhere of stuff to do and not do.
Maybe it was in the Koran.
        (Too lazy to check.)

        • Msgr_Moment

it’s like the tax code. He tried to slim it down to two tablets and wound up writing a whole damn book.

          • willi0000000

it was just three tablets . . . but, you know, that little accident.

[ so the fundies have spent the last 2000 years writing down everything they thought was on the third tablet . . . that’s why it’s a book ]

          • Creepoman

Shit – beat me by a minute!

“You’ll never know the amount of blood I saw in that place.” Mostly spilled by him.

  • Hutch

Did Mr. Dear also say: “I watched a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking, while someone says we have to keep it alive to harvest its
brain. This is about the character of this nation!”

I’m lookin’ at you, Carly. You and the rest of your ilk are directly responsible for this tragedy.

    • elviouslyqueer

Yea, come to think of it, Botox Barbarella has been awfully quiet about this case.

      • Creepoman

Every repub has been awfully quiet about this case. The collective freak out over San Bernardino has been a welcome distraction for them.

        • willi0000000

i’m sure it’s just because they wouldn’t want to remark about the case in public . . . don’t want to be accused of trying to prejudice the jury.

      • Jukesgrrl

Extra points for Botox Barbarella, if I could.

    • Lefty Frizzell

I would offer him a deal to say exactly where he got the idea from.

      • willi0000000

        . . . and, as t’Rump would say . . . “deals are made to be broken”

      • MissNomer

It could’ve been Carly, or any random RW radio shouter (there was no electricity in his trailer). But reportedly, this “40 Days for Life” sign was across the street from that PP clinic, on private land.

        • boll ocks

i live here in Colorado Springs, can affirm that that sign is across the street from the scene of the crime

            Thank you and yuck.

  • elviouslyqueer

You’ll never know the amount of blood I saw in that place.

Ironically (not ironically AT ALL), “the amount of blood” was very much likely from the three people you killed and the nine people you wounded.

Ugh. Rot in jail forever, motherfucker.

    • willi0000000

definitely! . . . don’t make this piece of shit into a martyr!

[ be sure to intensively study this guy, and others, until we have a scientific theory that can help us stop this kind of thing . . . or a set of markers that are cause for concern so we can educate, medicate or at least watch for ]

      • theCryptofishist

(The sad thing is we probably have a pretty good idea what goes into it, but there’s no way we can interfere, not in this political climate. And of course, some things are civil rights violations and we can never do taht.)

We’ll call it Rocinante’s Saddle, this theory.

  • beatbort

Well, this at least saves the expense of a trial, right? He said he was guilty. Judge, the ball is in your court. We await your sentencing.

      • cmd

I think he said the PD had tried to drug him like he did James Holmes, also, too.

      • Lady Bug

LOL. No snark though, I really do admire people like Daniel King & other public defenders. They often have a very thankless task, are sometimes the recipients of misplaced rage the public has towards their clients, AND they do a vitally important job ensuring that even people accused of the most horrible crimes have their civil, legal and human rights protected.
(okay, getting off soap box now!)

        • david green

I generally give them more credit than I ever give District Attorneys, who are usually more politician than seeker of truth.

        • cmd

Plus once you get to be the go-to guy for those types of cases (especially if death penalty is on the table) you get a lot of them, if not all, depending on the size of the PD office and amount of cases like that.

  • Joe Beese

Give him credit for having the courage of his convictions.

If Marco Rubio truly believed in his stated anti-choice positions, he should be out there doing the same thing.

I said people would die during this election season, and at the time, I was referring to Trump. But Carly, Huckabee, Cruz, and the rest of you assholes. You are in part responsible for this, people are now dead, and I for one do not believe I should live in a country where people die during election season because of campaigning.

    • JMP

There’s also been a big increase in anti-Muslim hate crimes recently, though I don’t think anyone’s been killed in them – yet. But that’s still more violence that the GOP candidates are directly responsible for.

    • eddi

If only. A Reb candidate or three down for accessory and / or conspiracy charges would be the highlight of the voting season.

A ragged-ass religious fanatic leads the country into disaster. After a few hundred years a Masonic conspiracy overthrows him and reinstitutes a limited democracy.

  • Pongo

Maybe we should just concentrate all the pro-lifers into small, manageable groupings–maybe like a camp or something. Of course, this would not be due to their religious views or ideology, but simply for the safety of other citizens.

    • Rasilom

This is a good idea but it has to be sold to them correctly. Instead of camps call them Pro-Life resorts brought to you by Walmart. Then you tell them that the camps include all the latest amenities like running water, some flush toilets and cheap Chinese made goods! Then you tell them that there will be only Pro-Lifers there and no abortion clinics will be allowed, so they will be safe from the rest of us godless heathens. I tell you they will line up and have fist fights to get in.

    • Takoma DC

Kind of a stupid thing to say, but I guess he had to focus on Muslim extremists for the speech. If I am ever killed by an extremist, I don’t really give a fuck what his/her faith (or lack thereof) is. I think I’d be a bit more annoyed by her/his ideology. At least until I’m dead. At that point, it’s not likely that I will care one way or the other. My point being, maybe the focus should be on the hate, not the potential religion.

Ban Christian schools. They are raising terrorists. ;)

  • malsperanza

I don’t mind letting the anti-choice Christians stay in America, but it would be prudent to make them wear some kind of label or insignia so we could spot them and know to be on the alert. Asking them to wear a big bleeding cross on their clothes or a tattoo on the arm doesn’t seem ununreasonable. A lot of them do that voluntarily already. And of course we need legislation to be sure people on the Christians Watch List don’t have access to guns.

    • MissNomer

      Coat hangers might be appropriate.

    • Rick Hill

I’m more in favor of using some high tech gizmo that enables them to have a permanent stigmata. Blood dripping from the wrists and forehead will allow us to instantly identify them and avoid their company.

    • Count Awesome

They should be forced to wear a crown of thorns and carry a large cross everywhere. If I saw that I’d definitely hurry across the street.

    • artem1s

aren’t these radical members of some club of some sort, where they gather weekly? isn’t it time the FBI and Homeland keep lists of people who attend these weekly radicalization meeting? I mean there’s one on every freaking corning in my neighborhood. Sitting there taking up valuable real estate space and not paying any taxes. Time to send them all back to where they came from dammit.

This is perfect, KJG. Over on Fox News, there’s practically 24/7 coverage of when the San Bernardino shooters were “radicalized,” but nothing at all about that on this guy. Or the Charleston church shooter. Or …

“Prolifers” are just a symptom of the disease. We need to go full Turnip, be realistic with our attainable goals and plans. We need to ban all babies from the country. Why has not one of these prolife representatives made a huge push for funding adoption centers. That would be a great job creator right there, the caregivers, facility maintenance. Reimbursement for women who don’t want to keep their child but will have financial help as well as knowing the baby will be cared for.

    • natoslug

Because that doesn’t sound like it shames and punishes women enough? Because they don’t really want to do anything that benefits an actual birthed babbie? Because that might actually cost something, whereas protesting, shouting insults and threats, and provoking the least stable of their kind to violence is free, and deeply satisfying for them?

      • Jen_Baker_VA

Pretty much, same reason they don’t wanna fund any birth control methods which also too, reduce the abortion numbers.

    • Cismontane

They do.. They’re called crisis pregnancy centers and they engage in unethical and brutal practices just the wrong side of human trafficking and kidnapping.

      • Jen_Baker_VA

I would not say those are adoption centers more than they are, well, unethical and brutal slut shammer farms that mooch off the tax payer teat and push their ideas of religious morality all while providing no actual assistance to said expectant women.

        • Cismontane

Exactly. Expecting productive solutions to social issues from extremists is pointless. The worst crisis pregnancy center imaginable is inevitably the best possible adoption center that the likes of Operation Rescue and Dear could conceivably come up with.

    • Villago Delenda Est

As others have pointed out, once the child is out of the womb, it’s irrelevant.

    • sw19womble

I hope the authorities can quickly investigate so we may all better learn and understand when, where and how Dear became radicalized and if he was truly a lone wolf. Hopefully this investigation will teach us the signs to look for so that we can stop the next terrorist attack.

15 things I learnt about Islam and British values being a gay boy living opposite a mosque.

No mosque has enough parking and muslim men love to complain about it. I don’t care how young or trendy they are, within seconds they will be pointing at bits of pavement muttering about the number of cars you could fit in there — like my Granddad from Manchester does at Sainsbury’s

You can do that look British people do to each other, when someone near by is making a scene, in a full face veil.
