CNN Does Funny Thing On Purpose (Watch Your Political 'Too Many Cooks' Here Please Thank You You're Welcome)
Guys, we don't quite know how to tell you this, but CNN actually did something funny. We mean, intentionally. How did this happen? What are the larger implications for cable television news, viral videos, the 2016 elections, and social media? What is this thing anyway? On the off chance that you haven't seen the original, here it is, as well as the Wikipedia entry, like that would help. Or better, just watch the thing and bathe in its majestic glory:
We'll just add that David Sims at The Atlantic got it absolutely right in his assessment of the original short:
It's the classic anti-comedy premise of taking so long with something that it goes from being funny, to being not very funny, to being boring, to suddenly becoming hilarious again. More than that, it's an excellent piece of non-narrative sketch comedy that sets out boundaries for its own weird reality and then goes about breaking them over and over again.
Should you find yourself with the video's creepily catchy earworm theme going through your head all day, may we suggest a nice rinsing out with any of the following: "Brandy,"by Looking Glass,"Call Me Maybe,"by Carly Rae Jepsen,"Sugar Sugar,"by The Archies,"Pon Pon Pon"by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu,"Macarena,"by Los Del Rio, or"My Pal Foot-Foot," by the Shaggs. You're welcome.

I thought it said "Too many crooks". This is better.
The Shaggs? YOU BASTARDS!
