Our old frenemies at the neo-Confederate League of the South (who just love that photo up there so much) are really getting into the holiday spirit, taking a moment to recognize Abraham Lincoln's birthday by thanking John Wilkes Booth for shooting him in the head.
In a February 12 post on their website, the nice secessionists and guardians against "Southern Genocide" posted this lovely tribute by League of the South president Michael Hill (you can call him the head LOSer), titled "Honoring John Wilkes Booth":
The League of the South looks to the present and future. However, from time to time we do look back at our past.
This 14th of April will mark the 150th anniversary of John Wilkes Booth’s execution of the tyrant Abraham Lincoln. The League will, in some form or fashion, celebrate this event. We remember Booth’s diary entry: “Our country owed all her troubles to him, and God simply made me the instrument of his punishment.” A century and a half after the fact, The League of the South thanks Mr. Booth for his service to the South and to humanity.
Stay tuned . . .
Ooh, it sounds like they have big plans! Maybe another great big rally with as many as 12 participants to save Southern Heritage? Or they might have a rally to save Southern Womanhood from dusky-hued immigrants!

The SPLC notes that the League of the South has formed a paramilitary group, so they can fantasize about starting a new war of secession. That could be what they want us to stay tuned for.
Or maybe they'll just get together with their most prominent former member to reach elective office, Ann Arundel County Councilman Mike Peroutka, from Maryland, and have a sing-along of the National Anthem, which is "Dixie":
They probably have something big planned for April 14, what with it being the 150th anniversary of Booth's great achievement. All we can think of is that time when Michael Sarrazin hosted Saturday Night Live back in 1978 and noted that the day of Lincoln's death at the hands of an actor would be forever cursed for actors, at least "until a president assassinates an actor." Somebody better keep an eye on Barry, is what we're saying.

A handful of individuals celebrate something... something... , does not a real celebration make & realistically how many riots did this start w/ burning buildings , if none , is it really news worthy ?
I'm thinking "Southern Decadence" wins.
