Bell's proposal has inspired me to push my state rep. to propose a bill that mandates that the Sun will henceforth rise each morning no later than 5:30 am (local time) and set each evening no earlier than 8:30 pm (local time) throughout the year. The bill would also include a "conscience clause" which would allow any office worker in the state to refuse to arrive at their place of employment any earlier than 11:00 am and to refuse to remain at said place of employment any later than 2:00 pm on days when the Sun is above the local horizon at those hours if doing otherwise violates the employee's sincerely held beliefs. Employers will be prohibited from taking any disciplinary action against or reducing the compensation of any employee who exercises this right.
