How about a tall, strong one for New Year's Eve? And a cocktail, too.
Do you have some of these ice sphere molds? We're going to make a big cocktail in a pint glass, chilled by one of those ice balls; if it gets to the bottom of your glass before midnight, make another and race to the bottom.
Monkey Ball Dropper
2 1/2 oz. white rum
2 1/2 oz. dark rum
2 oz. orange juice
2 oz. grapefruit juice
1/2 oz. lemon juice
Dash angostura bitters
Club soda
Put everything but the club soda in your shaker with some ice. Shake to combine.
Strain into a pint glass. Gently place an ice sphere into the drink (if you put the ice in the glass before the drink, it will plug the glass, and the drink won't get to the bottom).
Top off with club soda. Garnish as you please with citrus wedges, slices, and twists.
Enjoy the cup of kindness.
Scale it down for smaller glasses, and just use regular old ice cubes if you don't have the molds.
Alternatively, if you're not into cocktails, just pour enough whiskey to float the ice sphere in a rocks glass; repeat until 2015.
It'll take some time to digest that comment.
