Hippy-dippy socialist communist gay-loving crime-enabling New York Mayor Bill de Blasio just cannot stop being terrible for New York, the greatest nation that ever lived. Because de Blasio hates America, and New York, and police officersobviously, he has declared a race war in New York by giving his biracial son some riot-inciting advice about what to do in the highly unlikely event that he is ever stopped and/or frisked for blacking while black.
“What parents have done for decades who have children of color, especially young men of color, is train them to be very careful when they have ...an encounter with a police officer,” de Blasio said on ABC’s “This Week.” [...]
“With Dante, very early on, we said, ‘Look, if a police officer stops you, do everything he tells you to do. Don’t move suddenly. Don’t reach for your cellphone,’” said deBlasio. “Because we knew, sadly, there’s a greater chance it might be misinterpreted if it was a young man of color.”
Naturally, everyone thinks it's perfectly reasonable that the mayor would advise his son about how to try to not get himself shot or choked to death by a police officer -- which would never happen because young black men are never killed by police officers in America, except for every day, which doesn't count because that's a coincidence. Besides, as Ed Mullins, head of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, explained, de Blasio's advice to his son is totally "moronic" because the NYPD has no intention of "accidentally" killing the mayor's son!
“He has a security detail of New York City police officers assigned to protect his family. And yet he’s making statements that his son shouldn’t feel safe with New York City cops,” Mullins said on John Catsimatidis’ radio show on AM970.
“Ultimately, if this individual who’s in charge of running this city doesn’t have faith in his own son being protected by the NYPD, he may want to think about moving out of New York City completely. He just doesn’t belong here.”
Great timing there, Ed, just days after yet another white police officer gets away with killing an unarmed black man because reasons that have nothing to do with race, shut up, it's just a coincidence. Just because that seems to happen an awful lot is no reason why any black men shouldn't feel safe in the company of New York's finest.
Mullins isn't alone in his criticism; other members of police organizations in the city are also quite displeased that de Blasio would put his paternal concerns for the safety of his son ahead of the public relations concerns of cops. What a selfish bastard!
But the prize for biggest asshole goes, not for the first time, to former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who wants de Blasio to stop hurting Giuliani's beloved city that still totally belongs to him by injecting race into everything:
First of all, there’s no racism in this case. If this man were a white man resisting arrest at that same size, the same thing would happen. There was an African American sergeant on the scene observing, in charge of the situation, never did anything to stop it… As far as I know … she did nothing to interrupt it. To suggest that racism is involved, just because it’s a white man and a black man, and then also to talk about families worried about their children, there are a handful of police shootings of blacks. Ninety-six percent of the time, it’s a black child being killed by a black. If he wants to train young black men in how to avoid being killed in the city, you can talk about police. Police should never kill anybody unjustifiably. I’ve put them in jail when that happens. But you should spend 90 percent of your time talking about the way they’re actually probably going to get killed, which is by another black. To avoid that fact, I think, is racist.
We sure do hope de Blasio will take Giuliani's parenting tips to heart and sit his son down to correct his misconceptions about race in America. "Son," we imagine de Blasio would say, "never mind all that stuff about being extra careful around police officers so they don't kill you because they are a-scared you might be a super-strength demon armed with blackness. You just do your part to keep black people from killing each other, because that's the real race problem in America today. Here, lemme have Rudy explain it to you."
We also expect de Blasio to issue an apology any second now for daring to believe his son's life is more important than the sensitive feelings of New York's cops, who really do not like it when people accuse them of disproportionately targeting and killing African Americans just because it sure looks like that's exactly what they do. Any second now ...
Apparently Sgt. Mullins believes that it's unpossible for the mayor's kid to maybe be stopped by some rookie who isn't aware that he's the mayor's kid, or that maybe this advice was given before de Blasio was mayor. Just spitballin' here.
The New York daily News comments are disgusting.
