It might suck to be Keith Ablow this week. Bad enough that Ablow got dissed by the Associated Press yesterday, in a piece where writer David Bauder collected several quotes from real psychiatrists arguing that Keith Ablow is not merely a bad psychiatrist, but bad for psychiatry itself. But to add to this dressing-down from academics and practitioners, Ablow also has to deal with the knowledge that, no matter how many times he provides highly accurate diagnoses of Barack Obama's psychological problems -- like his abandonment issues and his pathological affinity for Africa instead of America -- the deeply troubled President is probably not even aware of Ablow's existence!
Bauder closes the AP piece with an observation from former White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, who said that he didn't even recognize Ablow's name and didn't think the President would, either:
"I'm confident that no one in the White House spends any time thinking about him," Carney said. "Fox is Fox. It doesn't really matter who the salesman is. The product is always the same."
Among the critics Bauder spoke to is Dr. Jeffrey Lieberman, the chair of the psychiatry program at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons, who had a bit of media diagnosis of his own, noting that Ablow seems far more interested in doing entertainment than being a doctor type (this is slander, of course, since Dr. Keith Ablow is on Fox News's "Medical A-Team):
"It is shameful and unfortunate that he is given a platform by Fox News or any other media organization," Lieberman said. "Basically he is a narcissistic self-promoter of limited and dubious expertise."
Ablow did not take these slurs lying down (on a couch of any sort -- analyst's or fainting), and issued a pissy little statement in reply, explaining that he is too a real good head doctor, and whining that Lieberman, a former head of the American Psychiatric Association, was just jealous because Keith Ablow spurned that corrupt group in 2011 because it didn't think transgender people are sick perverts. Here's part of Ablow's cri de butthurt:
As a psychiatrist, news commentator, and medical professional, my analysis is accurate. I stand by what I have said. Psychiatrists are uniquely situated to comment on political figures, and the interface of politics and psychology is improved by psychological analysis [...]
While some may be offended by my commentary, it is, nevertheless entirely accurate.
President Obama provided the data for my commentary through his statements and actions.
As a medical professional it is readily apparent that a President who tours the world apologizing for America, who was part of a church in which the pastor preached "God damn America!" and who admonished American entrepreneurs that they did not build their own businesses is a President who has issues with the nation of which he is President. The use of selected and edited comments of mine to attempt to "shoot the messenger" is an unfair attempt to impair my credibility.
We especially love that bit about how his analysis is accurate because it is based on data provided by Barack Obama himself. Take that, you America-hating usurper who refuses to recognize just how right Keith Ablow is! Happily, Keith Ablow vows, bravely, that he will "continue to speak truth to power," even if he's really only talking to an empty dentist-office waiting room tuned to Fox.

Jay Carney said, and I quote "no one in the White House spends any time thinking." This is a true quote, directly. Ha Ha, ZING! Good one, you must admit!
This is why I would say, in my psychiatric analysis capability, Jay Carney is saying in truth that he, and Barack Obama, has no brain at all. They have suffered their entire lives being the butt of criticism, because of their dumbness. Jay Carny is not smart and knows it. Jay Carney also only wants to be so harshly critical of my very effective psychiatric analysis because he is incredibly jealous of my stunningly amazing career, which is so much more amazing and credible than Jay Carney, whoever that guy is, I've never even heard of him. Who? I am insulted you would ask me about someone that I don't even know, who probably hasn't got a brain, and is handicapped, and jealous. And bitter. It's sad, his bitter spitefulness. He only wants to hurt me, by pretending he doesn't know who I am, which only a totally mentally handicapped person would do. This is why I don't even know who you are talking about.
