Bill Maher Right About A Thing
Bill Maher can really be a self-important, sanctimonious asshole at times. Thankfully, this is not one of them. On Real Time this week, Maher laid into all the Democrats who have been running as if Barack Obama were the ineffectual dictator Republicans have said he is.
Sixty-three straight months of economic expansion. A depression averted. A deficit reduced by two-thirds. A health care law that’s working and lowering costs. Two women on the Supreme Court. Bin Laden’s dead. Stock market at record heights. An unemployment rate that dropped from 10.2 to 5.9. If you’re a Fox News viewer trying to do the math, that’s less.
And yet, says Maher, "There are beheading videos that have more likes."
Maher can be an obnoxious jerk, but this time around, he's pretty much on target. Distancing yourself from your own president isn't a winning strategy, says Maher: "Just ask President Al Gore."
Yeah ... but he's black?
Once, there were only Yellow Dog Democrats and Blue Dog Democrats. Now, he gutless punk wing has formed the Black Dog Democrats, running like a letter carrier from the big, black dog.
