Rachel Maddow was in Denver for a live broadcast Tuesday night . Warning: It's a little weird to watch the news with an audience applauding and cheering in the background.
The highlight (ha!) of the episode was Maddow's visit to a dispensary of "recreational meds," aka "weed," "pot," "dope," "Mary Jane," "reefer," or "why Phish had a career." She's introduced to the world of boutique dispensary operation, from the goofy -- as she goes down the steps into the store, she notes that it "smells like college" -- to the mundane practical challenges of running a business that's legal under state law, but not under national law, which means dispensaries can't keep their money in banks. It's funny and informative, and Rachel closes by confirming that, in the state of Colorado, she now knows that she's "a certified dork."
Watch and enjoy. The video. Yeesh, it's a little early in the day, even by Wonkette standards.
Is the door or gateway in the back of the shop to heroin land?
Rachel did a great segment on the polling in Colorado and how consistently wrong it has been for the past few close elections. The issues on getting accurate polling numbers isn't confined to CO. None of the 'analysts' are really covering this, even 538. They have pretty much just been predicting percentages of who is going to have Senate control. It looking to me like there are going to be lots of surprises next week cause the reporting by media and pundits alike has been geared to gin up fear on both sides to promote fundraising and ad buys. And the GOP predictions seem to be directed more towards getting more Koch monies than getting out the vote, IMHO. Media benefits when the perception is that the race is close and benefits more when GOP funders think the race is close and a couple more million will make the difference. Dems are crying wolf for fundraising too but their money is going more toward GOTV and on the ground efforts which more directly affect outcomes.
