Sen. Cory Booker's Republican opponent in the New Jersey race for U.S. Senate, Jeff Bell, has an excellent theory (which is his and was invented by him) about why he's way, way behind Booker in the polls: It's those darn women and their dumb dependence on the federal government. Way to go, Republican Outreach machine! Maybe the GOP will rebrand itself again.
Bell explained his female trouble to the Asbury Park Press:
Bell said his 20-plus percentage point deficit among women in public opinion polls isn't due to his socially conservative views, such as opposition to abortion rights, but rather the result of demographic boost in the number of unmarried women.
"I've done a lot of thinking about this and looked at a lot of different polls, I think it has more to do with the rise in single women," Bell told the Asbury Park Press. "Single mothers particularly are automatically Democratic because of the benefits. They need benefits to survive, and so that kind of weds them to the Democratic Party.
"But single women who have never married and don't have children are also that way," he continued. "If you take married women, they aren't that different from married men. So it's really a problem with the decline in marriage rates. The Democrats do benefit from that."
The Asbury Park Press notes that "Bell and his positions aren't well-known in the state, though. Two-thirds of likely voters have no opinion of him." We're going to bet, now that he's said something this brilliant about all those lazy ho's who are addicted to Uncle Sugar, a lot more people in the Garden State will have an opinion of Jeff Bell. That's Jeff Bell, the candidate who said that single women are too lazy and shiftless to provide for themselves and just want government to take care of them.
But Jeff Bell, the candidate who thinks single women are a waste of electoral effort, isn't all that worried, because he figures he'll do great among men and married women, especially if single women stay home:
"Even before the gender gap appeared, men were more willing to vote for change. They're more bomb-throwers. Women are more cautious," Bell said. "If you're doing well among men, that is something that an insurgent candidate needs."
Jeff Bell, ladies: Don't forget that name! That's Jeff Bell, the guy who thinks single women are a bunch of worthless leeches. J-E-F-F B-E-L-L. Bell, you know, like with a ring (or an alarm).

A good arm is all that is required. It doesn't need to be hooked up to any sort of brain.
Is there an alternate definition of "thinking" I am not aware of?
