Joan Rivers had some thoughts about the Palestinians, and how they should probs shut up and die if they were too stupid to get out of Gaza when the going is good. (To where, you ask? How about the sea!) But is she sorry? Yes! Or at least her publicist is.
First, what gentle murmurings issued forth from Rivers's forked tongue?
“We now don’t count who’s dead,” she declared, saying it was “good” that thousands had died. “If you’re dead, you deserve to be dead. You started it.”
Hmmm, seems pretty straightforward. Was there more? There was more!
Rivers then exploded when the cameraman asked her about the high mortality rate in the current conflict. “Go back to the atomic bomb and what we did in Japan. You don’t start wars and then decide ‘I’m sorry.’”
“They were told to get out, and if [you] don’t get out, you’re an idiot. At least the ones who were killed were the ones with low IQs.”
So we're all clear, right? Nuke the Palestinians back to ... well, Gaza, we guess. So why is everybody taking Joan Rivers out of context by showing film of her saying things like it is good that people are dead and nuke more of them and they are stupid?
In a statement later provided to TMZ, Rivers claimed she was “totally taken out of context.
“What I said and stand behind is, war is hell and unfortunately civilians are victims of political conflicts. We, the United States, certainly know this as 69 years later we still feel the guilt of Hiroshima and Nagasaki….Along with every other sane person in this world, I am praying for peace.”
Did you like the part about the "guilt" we feel over the atomic bomb, while calling for its use in Gaza? Did you like that she's "taken out of context," on video? More importantly, how hard do you think Joan Rivers punched her publicist in the face when she saw her own "statement"? Hahaha, just kidding, not hard at all, she is a sad weak old lady with anorexia arms : (
This will only really make sense to Bay Aryans, but SF south to SSF is about 240 km2 (about 2/3 of Gaza), with a pop of about 1M (vs Gaza's 1.8M). So the population density of the tip of the Peninsula is about 4170 per km2; and of Gaza, about 5000 /km2. (the density of the C and C itself is ca. 840K/120km2 = 7000 per km2, so a little denser than Gaza, but that's just the damn city).
I use this analogy in my head when reading about airstrikes and tank maneuvers.
BTW, Hamas includes a bunch of over-the-edge wackjobs, and I understand Israel not wanting to negotiate too much with an organization that denies its right to exist, but jeez, the idea that you can conduct "surgical" military operations in what amounts to an extended city is fucking ridiculous.
Well, less than 6,000 years, for sure.
