Rush Limbaugh Figures This 'Airliner Shot Down' Thing Just A Distraction From Scary Honduran Children On Border

Rush Limbaugh took to the air (not literally; are you kidding?) yesterday to say that he found it mighty convenient that an airliner happened to crash while Barack Obama was, we guess, just on the verge of being impeached over the Central American Children On the Border Crisis. Limbaugh, a veteran of 30 years in the talk show business, apparently finds something fishy in the news media focusing all its attention on something so mundane as a civilian airliner being shot out of the sky by a ground-to-air missile.

Limbaugh just doesn't see why Americans would even pay attention to something like that, instead of, say, watching professional golf:

It's a Malaysian Airlines jet and can you -- I've got the British Open on the top menu, monitor, I haven't had CNN on all day, what do you bet they have broomed everything and are covering wall-to-wall the Malaysian Airlines flight shot down by a missile? This is, I mean, you talk about -- I don't want to appear to be callous here, folks, but you talk about an opportunity to abandon the bad Obama news at the border, and no, I'm not suggesting anything other than how the media operates.

</p><p>Thank god he didn't want to appear callous, because if he were really trying, we bet he could manage it. But yeah, isn't that just like the media, to abandon something really important, like Barack Obama's deliberate enticing of Guatemalan and Honduran children to the border, for a triviality like 298 people dying when their airliner is shot out of the sky? Now, if the airliner were full of diseased illegal immigrants, that might be news. </p><p>And despite his insistence that he was only talking about the media, Limbaugh also couldn't resist sliding in a hint of <a href="http: //www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/07/17/limbaugh-eerie-crash-of-malaysian-flight-is-an-opportunity-to-save-obama-from-border-crisis/" target="_blank">conspiracy-tinged thinking,</a> because apparently he actually has been sampling his own product: </p><p/><blockquote>It’s really eerie, why would it be shot down? Over Ukraine, it was shot down by a missile. This would lead one to believe that it is not an accident.</blockquote> <p>Eerie! There has to be a larger story here! And that last bit is right up there with our favorite line from <em>Plan 9 From Outer Space:</em> "There's been a murder. And <em>someone's responsible!"</em> </p><p>Strangely, though, as RawStory notes, it wasn't just CNN and MSNBC that "broomed" all the important Invasion of the Unaccompanied Minors news -- Fox also went with wall-to-wall airliner coverage, too.
