Too bad we haven’t yet made our big move to Detroit, because this International Conference on Men’s Issues that was held there this weekend sounds like a total hoot. Who wouldn’t have fun in a roomful of angry shut-ins embittered because the harlot to whom they had entrusted their bank accounts and their mighty seed took the kids and all the money and went to live at her sister’s place in Des Moines?
Attendees numbered in the low three figures, though we’re not sure if media figures are included in the count. Among the poor bastards who got to expense a lovely summer weekend in Detroit was MSNBC’s Adam Serwer, who should receive some sort of medal for sitting through this:
Barbara Kay, a columnist for Canada’s National Post, argued that … rape on college campuses was a myth perpetrated by man-haters, and the concept of rape culture, how society can tacitly approve of or rationalize sexual assault, was “baseless moral panic.”
“The vast majority of female students allegedly raped on campus are actually voicing buyer’s remorse from alcohol-fueled promiscuous behavior involving murky lines of consent on both sides,” she said, drawing chuckles from the audience. “It’s true. It’s their get-out-of-guilt-free card, you know like Monopoly.” The chuckles turned to guffaws.
Reports that Barbara Kay was actually George Will in drag could not be confirmed.
Also present at the conference was Dr. Mrs. Ol’ Perfesser Instapundit, who posted a lovely blog item about her worry that clueless reporters weren’t going to take this whole shebang seriously.
The woman writing the story, Alexandra Lynn, said that she could not connect with the issues at the conference stating that she was writing her article in the first person and could not relate as she was from NYC and no one she knew acted this way. The women and men were apparently equal and didn’t have issues. I told her to look outside NYC and realize that there is a bigger world out there. And who knows, if men were interviewed in NYC, they may have a different story. I told her to look at the stats at who pays for things but first person accounts may not take any facts into consideration.
Yr Wonkette is shocked to learn that a female Vice reporter wasn’t more sympathetic to a bunch of whiny jackholes complaining that feminism has ruined manhood by daring to advocate for women to be treated as full-fledged human beings and not underpaid, overworked fetus incubators with no agency over their bodies and their reproductive decisions. We’re also shocked she could not feel the groundswell of this burgeoning movement that is so important its opening conference couldn’t even half-fill a meeting hall at a VFW in Detroit.
Maybe if the men’s rights movement wants to be taken seriously, it shouldn’t invite to its conferences speakers who are going to opine on how circumcision is genital mutilation. Particularly if that speaker is a creepy libertarian who publishes his essays on Lew Rockwell’s website, once called feminism “ socialism with panties, ” and blames the Jews for the rise of Communism. Otherwise, people might think it’s nothing more than a bunch of angry right-wingers smarting because they couldn’t pay for their entire trip with Bitcoin.
Yep, can’t believe we’re not taking this more seriously.

Prostates rights.
Meh - I got mutilated, it would seem, without my even noticing it. Makes it hard to see how it's even an issue.
