You may have noticed that we did not livebloog the White House Correspondents Dinner last night, because we were already well into an ether and risotto binge, and also it is not terribly funny, except in years when the President is making fun of Donald Trump while knowing that he is about to personally kill bin Laden. On the other hand, we also would never say no to a naked bid for web traffic, so here are some clips! First off, here is an actually funny thing, mostly, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Old Handsome Joe Biden and OHJB's actual-maybe brand-new Corvette Stingray. We liked Julia's Kevin Spacey bit. After the jump, clips of Barry Bamz making with the carefully vetted funny, and Community Star Joel McHale maybe bombing, at least that's what we heard after we got most of the risotto out of our pants.
Here is Barack Obama doing the ritual self-deprecating bit, along with what Breitbart.com will no doubt say is a vicious partisan attack, because that is what Breitbart always says. Discuss amongst yourselves: will this comedy-oriented speech embolden Putin?
Also, too, we have Mr. Joel McHale, who is quite amusing in the television program(s) that he is in, and apparently did not endear himself to the Correspondents' Dinner crowd, only not because he was too edgy like Stephen Colbert in 2006, but because he was not especially -- what is the word? -- "funny." We are going from news reports on that. But we will probably watch him after this post goes up, because there are dishes we need to do.
And finally, our favorite WHCD moment of all time, Donald Trump glaring and being something less than a "good sport" in 2011:
(stone-faced bankruptcy expert starts around 9: 30)
And that is all the Corredespondency we can handle for a single post!
"Orange is the new black" is the line that I'll remember.
