Monstrous FLOTUS Will Stomp All Over Kansas High School Grads' Special Day By Speaking At High School Graduation
So what horrible Marie Antoinette-style outrage is Michelle Obama perpetrating upon the good people of U.S. America this week? Maybe she ate food? Or suggested that children get some exercise? Even worse: She "accepted an invitation" to speak at commencement for the combined graduating classes of high schools in Topeka, Kansas (translation: "imposed herself on the event, because Michelle Obama just goes wherever she wants regardless of whether people want her -- and they don't.") Happily,Rick Moranat"American Thinker"(yes, commenters, it is a target-rich environment -- go for it) has sniffed out anAP story about some precious snowflake who's worried that the combined ceremony will not have enough seating for everyone's family and friends, and is so unfair:
A furor over what the Topeka school district considers an honor has erupted after plans were announced for Obama to address a combined graduation ceremony for five area high schools next month an 8,000-seat arena. For some, it was the prospect of a tight limit on the number of seats allotted to each graduate. For others, it was the notion that Obama's speech, tied to the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Brown v. Board of Education outlawing segregation in schools, would overshadow the student's big day.
Doesn't Michelle Obama understand that high school graduates would rather be addressed by the county zoning commissioner than the First Lady of the United States, just as long as nobody has to sit in an overflow auditorium to watch on video?
And in fact, an online petition asking Mrs. Obama to stay away has over 2100 "signatures" -- not necessarily from Topeka high school students, but hey, it proves that there's at least 2100 people on the interwebs who object, so shouldn't their voices be heard?
The big pull-quote from the AP story comes from Tina Hernandez, the mother of special snowflake Dauby Knight; Ms. Hernandez got her name in the paper for saying,
"I'm a single mother who has raised him for 18 years by myself ... I've told him education is the only way out. This is one of the biggest days of their lives. They've taken the glory and shine from the children and put on Mrs. Obama. She doesn't know our kids."
Yeah, nothing dishonors your kid like having the FREAKING FIRST LADY AND THE NATIONAL MEDIA at your kid's graduation. Most high school kids would probably rather just be able to forget their graduation by hiding out under the bleachers and drinking themselves into a stupor while taking selfies, and how is that going to happen now?
American Thinker Rick Moran salutes the brave kids who have complained about Michelle stealing their commencement, and also thinks that instead of talking to actual Topeka high school graduates to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Brown, it would be far more fitting for her to go to the historical marker where the original school used to stand. This is a nice trick, because if she'd planned that, he could complain that she'd snubbed the students by being too high and mighty to speak at commencement.
Further, says Moran, there's no possibility that her address will be "non-political," because come on, this is the woman who politicizes Easter by talking about exercise and nutrition!
The context of the First Lady's remarks will be nothing but political and you can bet there will be veiled references that accuse Republicans of "wanting to go back" to segregated schools. Otherwise, what's the point of sending her out there in the first place?
You know, maybe to commemorate an important anniversary? Oh, but she is black...maybe it would be better to wait to commemorate that historic school desegregation decision until we have another white president, who won't ruin things by dragging race into it.
