Here's an interesting little detail of the Bundy Ranch Revolution That Wasn't, out in Nevada or British Columbia or wherever: at least some of the geniuses who claim they were running things had plans -- if things came to a shootin' war with the Feds -- to put all the women out front, so they could bravely get shot first, to prove what monsters the jackbooted federal thugs are. This sounds like the sort of perfectly sane thing a great strategic thinker might come up with, and turns out to be the brainchild of former Arizona Sheriff Richard Mack, who has a thriving business speaking to assorted wingnut groups and telling them that the true Constitutional power in this country is vested in county sheriffs, not the Federal Government. Apparently it was like a Who's Who of rightwing idiots out there last week.
As detailed by Glenn Beck's The Blaze (there they go being momentarily sane again), Mack laid out his genius plan Monday on Fox News's "The Real Story," explaining with coldblooded cynicism his strategy to stage-manage any armed conflict with the Feds to elicit maximum sympathy for the brave militia patriots who love America so much they were willing to send the women to die first:
“We were actually strategizing to put all the women up at the front,” he said. “If they are going to start shooting, it’s going to be women that are going to be televised all across the world getting shot by these rogue federal officers.”
No word on just how hot for this idea the women were.
Unfortunately, the bloodbath that Mack was plainly hoping for didn't materialize, so the folks hoping to set off Civil War 2.0 will just have to go back to cleaning their guns, stockpiling their freeze-dried survival meals (available on Mack's website, of course), and writing angry blog posts about how the left constantly manipulates media to its advantage.
Also, the comments (don't read the comments) on the Blaze story are an interesting mix of people calling it a brilliant strategy, some saying well of course Patriot Women would gladly take their place on the Front Lines of Liberty against the government (You know, the American Government, the one with the Flag and all that); others accused Mack of being a pro-government provocateur trying to make the Brave Militia look bad, and a few also insisted that Glenn Beck and The Blaze have been coopted by the Feds. Didn't see a single comment suggesting that people using federally owned land need to play by the rules and pay their grazing fees, because apparently that is a filthy liberal position.

It's fine, as long as you don't give the girls a gun.
No snark here, just thanking The Big Whoever the BLM didn't play these shitheels' game. Imagine if Janet Reno had been in charge?
