Just a day after Louie Gohmert's passive-aggressive snottiness toward him in a House hearing, Attorney General Eric Holder subtweeted the Texas Republican in a speech Holder gave to the National Action Network. On Tuesday, Gohmert had suggested that Holder was not taking a 2012 House vote to hold him in contempt seriously enough, a comment that led Holder to bristle and fire back at Gohmert, "You don't want to go there, buddy."
So yesterday, Holder continued to cast aspersions on Gohmert and his asparagus, although not by name, because Eric Holder is a gentleman. A gentleman with a very sharply pointed walking stick and maybe a lead-filled sap in his pocket, but definitely a gentleman.
Swerving away from his prepared text, Holder said,
"I'm pleased to note that the last five years have been defined by significant strides and by lasting reforms even in the face, even in the face of unprecedented, unwarranted, ugly and divisive adversity ...
And if you don’t believe that, you look at the way -- and forget about me, forget about me -- you look at the way the attorney general of the United States was treated yesterday by a House committee," he continued. "That had nothing to do with me. Forget that. What attorney general has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment? What president has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment?”
Obviously, the real problem is that Barack Obama and Eric Holder are completely lawless, and conspired together to hide the truth about how the IRS smuggled guns to Mexico and Benghazi while funneling funds to Solyndra, and could we please just keep the focus where it belongs, which is on the many failures of Obamacare?
For what it's worth, Gohmert insists that he has nothing personal against Holder, although at a hearing last year when Gohmert accused Holder and the FBI of failing to predict the Boston bombing because they were too busy oppressing Christians, Gohmert complained again and again that Holder had attacked his character by stating that Gohmert didn't have his facts straight, a rant which closed with Gohmert protesting that "The attorney general will not cast aspersions on my asparagus." But it's definitely not personal, and neither was Holder's comment at the end of Tuesday's interaction with Gohmert, when the A.G. muttered, "Good luck with your asparagus."
Experts predict that the verbal jabs between the two are likely to continue until both begin peeing green.
