South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley Will Have None Of Your Dirty American Automakers Or Their Filthy Filthy Unions
Governor Nikki Haley just wants to assure the people of South Carolina that they will never have to worry about high wages or job security, because those communist notions have no place in the Palmetto Bug State. After attending an automotive conference in Greenville, she told the Greenville News that she discourages companies from opening factories in South Carolina if they have any plans to allow unions, because she does not want any organized labor cooties getting on the state:
“It’s not something we want to see happen ... We discourage any companies that have unions from wanting to come to South Carolina because we don’t want to take the water.”
Funny thing she should use that expression, seeing as how loosely regulated industrial facilities in neighboring North Carolina have been slopping toxic coal ash sludge into the rivers. But environmental ruin is just one of the beautiful side effects of being a state that's "open for business"; you can also tout low wages, crappy benefits, and fire-at-will policies, all of which make South Carolina such a paradise for jobs.
Haley's probably doomed Democratic opponent, state Sen. Vincent Sheheen, recently said that while he thinks South Carolina should stay a "right to work" state (he is, after all, trying to get elected), he also wouldn't categorically turn away American automakers with union jobs:
I also think that if Ford Motor Co. wanted to bring 10,000 jobs to South Carolina, we would welcome them with open arms,” Sheheen said.
“We need good, high-paying jobs in South Carolina. Part of leadership is putting ideology and partisanship to the side when there’s something that could be good for South Carolina.”
Translation into vernacular South Carolingua Franca: Vincent Sheheen is a wild-eyed radical communist who will take away your guns and require schools to serve vichyssoise and kale.
There's also a Larger Context for all this; namely, South Carolina's resentment over the National Labor Relations Board's attempt to stop Boeing from building its 787 Dreamliner jet in South Carolina -- the NLRB had contended that Boeing was trying to shift production from its plant in Washington State in retaliation for previous strikes there. And so there is a lot of anti-union butthurt in South Carolina, because Barack Obama personally tried to force Boeing to favor its union workers or some goddamn thing, look, YOU try to follow the logic.
At the auto conference, Haley warned that scary unions were besieging the state like some kind of vermin:
“They’re coming into South Carolina. They’re trying,” Haley warned. “We’re hearing it. The good news is it’s not working.”
Haley promised to keep fighting against union penetration.
“You’ve heard me say many times I wear heels. It’s not for a fashion statement,” she said. “It’s because we’re kicking them every day, and we’ll continue to kick them.”
It's downright inspiring to see how far a governor will go to help bring prosperity and success to thepeoplebloated plutocrats of her state.

“You’ve heard me say many times I wear heels. It’s not for a fashion statement,” she said. “It’s because we’re kicking them every day, and we’ll continue to kick them.”
I figured she wore heels to accentuate her buttocks and compel her to walk only with tiny little girly steps, as God intended when he had Jebus invent them. I'm glad that she has clarified that the actual purpose is to inflict deep, penetrating wounds on anyone who comes within reach of her flailing legs while she's laying on her back, which is about the only posture from which one can effectively strike with a high-heel given the fact that it's impossible to balance on one heeled foot while doing a thrust-kick with the other.
We've created a generation where people feel entitled to have the government take care of them, with the handouts and the job creators and the...keep your damn government hands off my right to work! Something something point guards have to box out upstream of the dead fish in the union shops.
Amen.
