my kid could do that

Wellesley womyn, we applaud you. You saw an injustice, and you demanded change.

Oh, wait, no. You saw a piece of art, “The Sleepwalker” by Tony Matelli, and said it was offensive and scared you and triggered you and made you feel “unsafe,” and demanded it be removed because BAD ART! BAD!

“[T]his highly lifelike sculpture has, within just a few hours of its outdoor installation, become a source of apprehension, fear, and triggering thoughts regarding sexual assault for many members of our campus community,” says the petition, which was penned by student Lauren Walsh. “While it may appear humorous, or thought-provoking to some, it has already become a source of undue stress for many Wellesley College students, the majority of whom live, study, and work in this space.”

Women. When you are a grown-up, you may sometimes see a thing you do not like. It is incumbent on adults in a pluralistic society not to freak the fuck out and demand that thing be removed so no other adults may see it.

You are acting like the Taliban. You are acting like John Ashcroft. You are, in fact, acting like Hitler. More importantly, you are acting like a parody of what the Right claimed universities had turned into regarding censorship and PC nonsense, and this is why so many people (sometimes up to and including us) want to burn down the Academy.

If the rightwing hadn’t blown its load complaining about this shit 30 years too early, this would probably have sent us straight into Breitbart’s arms.

In conclusion, stop doing this because all that will happen is Camille Paglia will go write a thinkpiece for Breitbart about how you all are representative of the weakness of modern feminism and it will be one million words long and we will be forced to agree with Camille Paglia.
