Watch out, Barry! Ghost Brietbart's Home for Free-Floating Rage is on to your little scheme:
President Barack Obama is reportedly trying to "establish an early narrative" to blame Republicans in case of a government shutdown or another financial crisis. However, Obama also said he would not negotiate with Republicans on raising the debt ceiling.
Can you believe the nerve of this guy and his sneaky 11th-dimensional chess? If the Republicans have to shut down the government, Obama wants to portray that as some kind of "Republican shutdown of the government," when clearly he is the one who is refusing to let them overturn the healthcare law that Congress passed and the Supreme Court found constitutional. What a thug.
We are not going to completely rule out the possibility that this article may be satire. For instance, while House and Senate Republicans are busily calling each other bullies and quitters, Breitbart's Tony Lee amusingly suggests:
Obama is "targeting" House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) in an attempt to try and divide and conquer Republicans and insulate himself from potential criticism and blame.
Because presumably Republicans listen to Obama so closely and will join Obama in opposition to Boehner? Now, if Obama were hugging the guy, we could see that as being divisive.
In any case, the following paragraph should easily earn Tony Lee a nomination for the Doublethink Hall of Fame:
Republicans have insisted that conservatives needed to win the argument that if the House passes a defunding Obamacare resolution, Obama and Democrats should be blamed for choosing to shut down the government instead of extending Obamacare exemptions that Congress and special interests have received to all Americans.
Oh, now it's all clear. Why is Obama threatening to shut down the government like this? Why? If only he hadn't forced Republicans to take the economy hostage with his irrational insistence on not killing the healthcare law that Congress passed and he signed! Has the man no shame? When America sees what Obama has made the Party of Personal Responsibility do, they're sure going to be mad at him.
