BREAKING: Obama’s Campaign Site Rejects Fraudulent Donation

by Jesse Taylor

erick erickson, artist's renderingToday’s right-wing Obama-is-a-foreigner thing is the startling revelation that, theoretically, Barack Obama could be accepting campaign donations from foreign nationals.

Short version: Barack Obama does not own the Obama.com domain name. Some (American) dude in China does. It autoforwards to a donation page on BarackObama.com, which Barack Obama owns. Foreigners can access Obama.com through nefarious means such as web browsers, which probably means that all of Obama’s money is raised from his half-siblings in Kenya and Indonesia.

But how to prove this is happening? The campaign denies it, of course, as liars would. So leave it to intrepid pile of moist journalism Erick Erickson to investigate. And by investigate, we mean attempt credit card fraud.

So, after talking with some lawyers about the process, etc. I donated to Barack Obama. Sort of.

It is rare that I do something where I feel the need to talk to lawyers first. But giving money to Barack Obama was one of those times.

I didn’t actually do it. I made up a name, made up a passport number, made up an address in Russia — hell I made everything up except my credit card number and expiration date.

Got that?

Everything was bull**** except the actual credit card number and expiration date. Everything.

Get it?  DO YOU FUCKING GET IT?

Now, we reach the truly despicable part of the tale: after committing blatant fraud, Obama accepted the donation, breaking feder-oh, what do you mean he didn’t?

Barack Obama’s campaign processed my very generous $5.00 donation.

For several days my bank listed it as processing.

Then this is where the anti-climactic end to my story comes. The donation ultimately did not go through after three days of being listed as “processing.” There was no explanation.

Had the Obama campaign turned on basic verification, my transaction would have been rejected immediately. Instead, it lingered for a few days before being rejected.

So, when someone makes a fraudulent transaction on your account, it lingers for a few days, then falls off. The true terror here is what Barack Obama probably did with that transaction while it was pending (gay sexed it in the booty).

I do not know what processes the Obama campaign employs to weed these out. It actually appeared, based on the way it processed for several days, that the bank stopped it, not that Barack Obama stopped it. For the liberals saying my donation did not go through so there should be no problem — here’s the problem. The Obama campaign processed the donation. It was Bank of America that stopped it, not Team Obama. Team Obama let it be processed, something that would not have happened in Romney’s campaign or most any retailer in the nation.

For the Erick Erickson saying his bank stopped it – does he have any actual evidence? Like, did he call Bank of America? Or the Obama campaign? Or perhaps the small town in Russia from which he fraudulently hails?

Ah, well, let us not worry about our little burgeoning James O’Keefe and the crime he committed. The Obama campaign takes more than seconds to not approve fraudulent credit transactions, which is pretty much tantamount to … I don’t know, what’s something bad? Not recycling? Murder? Letting your car alarm go off at 3 in the morning? Child abuse? One of those.

INPEACH!!!

Barbara_ October 8, 2012 at 8:42 pm

I hear that when you use your SNAP card at the tattoo shop, local casino and liquor store you can donate to Obama with food stamps. Comes in handy.

Negropolis October 8, 2012 at 9:26 pm

Not only can you donate, but I hear it's mandatory with SNAP cards. It's like a "cash-back" debit option, except that it goes straight to Obama.

I heard it on he conservative intertubes so it must be true!

Generation[redacted] October 9, 2012 at 12:23 am

I heard countries receiving foreign aid have been required to use those SNAP cards since 2009. And the Obama donation website is printed on the back too.

coolhandnuke October 8, 2012 at 9:27 pm

Accepted at all abortionplexes, nudie bars and organic free-range arugula food carts too, also.

Dr_Zoidberg October 9, 2012 at 9:53 am

I sent Obama a can of hobo beans – bypassed that SNAP card entirely!

Estproph October 9, 2012 at 10:15 am

You can also donate old Cadillacs. It has to be a Cadillac though. And I think they are now taking donations of menthol cigarettes by the carton, and 2 liter bottles of orange soda.

PuckStopsHere October 8, 2012 at 8:45 pm

I hope this guy at least has the decency to dress up like a pimp when he goes on CNN.

Donner, Party of 1 October 8, 2012 at 8:45 pm

Republicans are supposed to be the financial wizards and they don't even know how a credit card transaction is processed?

1. CVV just ensures the cardholder has the card in hand. If the cardholder has someone else's card in hand, they won't necessarily know the address, hence, address matching for verification. This is the part that will weed out a bogus transaction like Erickson's and voila!, this happened.

2. Merchants don't process transactions, banks or other financial gateways do. It's stunningly ignorant that Erickson continues to say the Obama campaign processed his transaction. This would be the equivalent of saying the clerk let your transaction go through by swiping yer card in the machine.

3. So fucking stupid.

Naked_Bunny October 8, 2012 at 11:24 pm

If the transaction had failed immediately, Erickson would be breathlessly announcing that the Obama campaign has a list of everyone's credit card information.

LagunaB October 9, 2012 at 12:16 am

No credit card info is kept online since 2006. It is against credit card policy and checked each year during complaincy check. It is all encrypted.

sullivanst October 9, 2012 at 1:43 am

Yeah, you didn't hear it from me, I was never here, but, I have direct knowledge that it's not true that "no credit card info is kept online".

Actually, you did hear it from me: I have an Amazon account that keeps my credit card info online. A bunch of other store accounts too.

Encrypted just means that you have to break into the web server to steal the decryption code, which also just happens to be what your preferred method of attack against the data store would have been anyway on account of it being a publicly advertised server with access to said data store; don't put too much faith in it is my advice.

Now, credit card info is supposed to have an aging policy applied to it, and you're not supposed to store the CVV, but even that latter policy is not correctly applied by all the websites I have used cards with, and given that the former is slightly hard to implement and not hugely easy to verify, I'd also guarantee that many, many sites out there don't bother.

WhatTheHolyHeck October 9, 2012 at 11:58 am

[nerdout] Actually, you need more than just encryption-breaking; online retailers who store your credit card usually use an encrypted token in the web servers, which they use to retrieve the real credit card info from a server that's behind a firewall. You'd have to be Alec Hardison or something to get through that.[/nerdout]

spohore October 9, 2012 at 1:50 am

CC addresses are verified when the clearinghouse sends the info to his bank. The CC number is verified at the point of sale. So it would be the bank that held the payment up and ultimately rejected it.
There's a very good chance this idiot has just had his card flagged at his bank for possible fraud, and frozen the credit line. I wonder if he'll post a follow-up?

Ruhe October 9, 2012 at 8:52 am

So wait a minute…I manage a retail business where we process credit card transactions every day and you're saying that my front-counter PCs don't have all the credit-address-verification information on every human on the planet on hand right inside them? Seriously? I just figured there was a rhesus monkey with a huge rolodex inside that thing. But you're saying that the bank that provides our card service and charges us a fee per transaction does all the verific…oh…right. sorry.

Jerri October 9, 2012 at 9:18 am

Thank you. When I worked retail the online processing system we used wouldn't let transactions go through if the credit card's on-file address didn't match what the customer put in when ordering exactly. If it didn't, it would sit there in limbo for a day or so before ultimately being rejected.

Explaining that to the old ladies who were trying to be modern by buying from us online never got old. Never.

Estproph October 9, 2012 at 10:18 am

Very stupid. So stupid that his followers will believe it.

mirrorballdc October 8, 2012 at 8:46 pm

I'm confused. I thought no one in America was allowed to have credit cards anymore because of some secret law buried in the stimulus bill.

mille derps October 8, 2012 at 10:04 pm

I blame Elizabeth Warren.

Jus_Wonderin October 9, 2012 at 6:36 am

Sille Mille, Indians don't carry credit cards. The deal solely in beaver pelts and shiny beads.

docterry6973 October 9, 2012 at 7:59 am

That's what my bank said when they cancelled mine.

Veritas78 October 8, 2012 at 8:46 pm

So here we have another winger admitting to breaking the law. When Eric Holder comes off his bender and actually wakes up (next month?) will he prosecute?

CrankyLttlCamperette October 8, 2012 at 8:47 pm

My thought exactly. Did he just publish that he committed credit card fraud?

Negropolis October 8, 2012 at 9:27 pm

Nah. DoJ is too busy busting potheads and illegal immigrants. I'm only half-joking.

Veritas78 October 8, 2012 at 9:41 pm

And whistleblowers. I feel so much safer now.

mille derps October 8, 2012 at 10:05 pm

Hey- you get enough whistleblowers & that's noise pollution. We do not want to go down that slippery slope.

prommie October 9, 2012 at 10:13 am

Oh Holder is too busy going after fraud and abuse in the Financial industry, plus too using the antitrust laws to break up any company thats too big to fail.

Negropolis October 9, 2012 at 10:24 pm

You forgot the obligatory "Oh, wait…" to express the sarcasm inherent.

AbandonHope_ October 8, 2012 at 8:49 pm

What Wonkette says in semi-jest, I say with utter conviction: Erick Erickson should immediately be arrested and charged with credit card fraud. Because, really, that's what this straight-up is. If this were a liberal trying to pull a fast one on a conservative politician, I'd feel the same: you are not a fucking police officer, Erick, and the ends do not justify the means.

What jurisdiction is credit fraud, anyway? Federal offense? Somebody needs to make a fucking example out of this limp-dicked little shit.

Veritas78 October 8, 2012 at 8:52 pm

Tell this to the judge in James O'Keefe's federal wiretapping case.

BloviateMe October 8, 2012 at 8:53 pm

Kind of the financial equivalent of that Catch a Predator show, where the pedo's all say they were there to save the young kids from REAL predators?

I'm on board…let's get him.

Veritas78 October 8, 2012 at 9:58 pm

Jerry Sandusky's upcoming autobiography is titled Show Me Where I Touched You.

The sequel, of course, is Okay, Now Show Me Again.

Callyson October 8, 2012 at 9:22 pm

The U.S. government's Financial Crimes Division generally plays a role in the prosecution of credit card fraud, and will often help to plan an investigation. However, the Secret Service also plays a role in fraud investigations, particularly in matters of national security. Due to the threat of financial information coming into the hands of U.S. enemies, the Secret Service has primary jurisdiction in the investigation and prosecution of charges.

http://www.ehow.com/about_5521424_being-charged-c

Stop visiting those prostitutes and start proceedings against this criminal, Secret Service…

Biel_ze_Bubba October 8, 2012 at 9:37 pm

Ehh … he used his own card, and lied to the Obama web site — and it's pretty well established that Republicans can lie with impunity.

mille derps October 8, 2012 at 10:08 pm

He used his own card and he talked to lawyers first.

Unfortunately, criminal stupidity isn't actually a criminal offense…

Incitefully_Joe October 9, 2012 at 5:39 am

To be fair, Bush talked to lawyers first, too.

sullivanst October 9, 2012 at 1:44 am

It was over the internet, doesn't that automatically make it Federal jurisdiction?

BloviateMe October 8, 2012 at 8:51 pm

The obvious answer is to eliminate any and all usury laws.

I assume that's what he's getting at.

That, and Obama is a scary black man, of course.

Naked_Bunny October 8, 2012 at 11:27 pm

Erick Erickson demands the US adopt sharia law!

sudsmckenzie October 8, 2012 at 8:52 pm

I don't know what the big deal is, I just entered my SNAP number and it went through.

Tommmcatt_Again October 8, 2012 at 8:55 pm

Wow, stil desperate even after Rmoney's laest poll bump. They smell blood in the water, and it isn't Obama's…

GuanoFaucet October 8, 2012 at 8:59 pm

This is the longest it's taken Erick to get rejected in years.

Tommmcatt_Again October 8, 2012 at 9:42 pm

He somehow manages to get pre-rejected, I've heard. Single women see him on the street and will not rest until they find out his home address and send him a signed, notarized statement that they will never, ever allow him near their ladybits.

Jonah Goldberg gets them too. His come in time capsules starting around the late 1800's, though.

"Jonah Goldberg gets them too. His come in time capsules starting around the late 1800's, though."

"Know ye all good perfonf, I come before ye and fay unto all, that if there cometh a day when there be fuch a perfon whofe name be call-ed Jonah Goldberg, never fhall he get any of the good ftuff."

LibrarianX October 8, 2012 at 8:59 pm

Somebody get O'Keefe on this NOW!

pepperpat October 8, 2012 at 9:02 pm

Silly Erickson. Didn't it occur to him it got rejected cuz it was only 5 bucks? Obama don't want no cheapskates!

shelwood46 October 9, 2012 at 1:15 am

Then why does Barack keep asking me for $3? It's for coffee, isn't it. Or beer. Probably beer.

sullivanst October 9, 2012 at 1:48 am

Why does he need money for beer when he has a brewery in his house?

shelwood46 October 9, 2012 at 1:51 am

Tip jar?

Lionel[redacted]Esq October 8, 2012 at 9:02 pm

Strange. Romney's site requires an offshore account to donate.

mille derps October 8, 2012 at 10:10 pm

And before they'll accept your donation they do means testing to confirm that you actually ARE mean.

AbandonHope_ October 8, 2012 at 9:02 pm

And speaking of foreign money in elections… millions of dollars in tax shelters in the Cayman Islands? Hello? I'm sure there's NO way that money from donors outside the United States could be getting into the RMoney campaign that way.

PsycWench October 8, 2012 at 9:03 pm

OT: an interesting editorial about our non-beloved Bob Marshall (R-Dumbfuckistan) and his opposition to an element of the healthcare bill that is pretty clearly effective in preventing abortions. http://www.roanoke.com/editorials/wb/315066

natl_[redacted]_cmdr October 8, 2012 at 9:32 pm

Contraception and sex education? Crazy talk.

natl_[redacted]_cmdr October 8, 2012 at 9:37 pm

And they'll never get rid of abortion or the abortion issue because of all the cash and votes they get by bringing it up.

PsycWench October 8, 2012 at 9:40 pm

Yeah I'm pretty sure that the Republican party doesn't really want abortion to be illegal. They constantly draft laws that they can be sure the Supreme Court will shoot down, thus winning points from their crazed right-wing base while leaving their money maker intact.
Not that I'm cynical.

DemmeFatale October 8, 2012 at 9:51 pm

The other day I was behind a car with 7 pro-life (anti-choice) bumper stickers.
I wanted to ask her how she felt about being part of the reason that abortion would NEVER be declared illegal.

tessiee October 8, 2012 at 9:58 pm

I still fondly remember the woman with a soccer van full of snotnosed brats and an "ABORTION STOPS A BEATING HEART!!!!" bumper sticker, who was smoking away like a chimney.

WinterOuthouse October 8, 2012 at 9:06 pm

In what alternate universe does this happen? The doofus. Erick Erickson should have been a character in Office Space.

Oh yes, the favorite conservative talking point: Absolutely nothing.

coolhandnuke October 8, 2012 at 9:08 pm

If you want to pull off a clean crime Erickson, next time use a Visa card instead of your Diners Club or Discovery card.

Texan_Bulldog October 8, 2012 at 9:09 pm

So no one got screwed, justice was served and he's STILL pissed? I swear, if Obama cured cancer, these people would complain that he was hurting the mortuary & casket industry.

PsycWench October 8, 2012 at 9:42 pm

If he found a way to overcome world hunger, these people would complain that he was undermining charities.

natl_[redacted]_cmdr October 8, 2012 at 9:11 pm

So O'Keefe-wannabe [god how sad] commits a crime and then blames Obama for not stopping him sooner?

This is the worst thing a sitting president has done since…

gullywompr October 8, 2012 at 9:11 pm

So Erickson goes to jail now please?

johnnyzhivago October 8, 2012 at 9:17 pm

Erick Ericscon is a commie????????????

mavenmaven October 8, 2012 at 9:17 pm

Erickson knows a little about things that "linger for a while before being eliminated", except that usually they just stain his underpants.

coolhandnuke October 8, 2012 at 9:18 pm

Erickson's just pissed cuz he didn't get awarded any frequent asshole miles on his card.

Callyson October 8, 2012 at 9:19 pm

It actually appeared, based on the way it processed for several days, that the bank stopped it, not that Barack Obama stopped it.

FFS, what a bunch of crap. Banks process transactions almost immediately (this is why there is no such thing as a float period now–when you write a check you better have the funds in the account.) So it looks *exactly* like a transaction stopped by the Obama campaign…

Asshole.

NO, I'm pretty sure the President personally goes through all these accounts

Yes, what anyone with the first fucking clue (and therefore, nobody who's ever written for RedState) would consider most likely, is that what he saw was not the actual payment, but the authorization making sure that if the payment was actually requested, funds would be available.

Redgyal October 9, 2012 at 12:44 pm

True. I have seen it happen on my accounts before.

LagunaB October 8, 2012 at 9:59 pm

Most emails requests I get to my faux avatar is for at least $25 from repubs. Dems ask for $3 or $5.

For those three days Erick's donation was missing, a Mexican abortion was made possible for one of Barry's gal pals.

Negropolis October 8, 2012 at 9:21 pm

Thisis something that was even used during the primaries against Obama. I remember a whole being made by PUMAs and such that Obama was getting money from Palestinians or some shit.

The bullshit is now being recycled. We need some more good news, and I want to see hair-on-fire Biden at the debate, this week.

BTW, what Erick Erickson does is anything but journalism, and I don't even think he'd call it journalism, so perhaps we shouldn't even play-label it as journalism.

Well, that's if you're willing to look over the shenanigans in Ohio on that night, which I've become more and more convinced as the years have gone on were totally illegal and shady on a level even greater than what happened in Florida in 2000. At least Florida happened in front of the cameras and made its way up the Supremes. What went down in Ohio was swept under the rugs by the mainstream media.

Biel_ze_Bubba October 9, 2012 at 11:11 am

So he was half-way elected, twice. That counts, right?

tessiee October 8, 2012 at 9:53 pm

OT but funny:
http://9laughs.com/why-snoop-is-voting-for-obama/

Sorry if anyone is offended, but I think it's impossible not to laugh at sentences like:

"Bitch got a dancing horse".

DemmeFatale October 8, 2012 at 10:02 pm

That is SO funny!
Thanks!

Lionel[redacted]Esq October 9, 2012 at 12:17 am

You worrying about me taking offense offends me.

And buttsex, too, also.

He a ho

This muthafucka's name is Mitt

Today, we are all Snoop…

tessiee October 9, 2012 at 1:01 am

I think every word of that link is awesome, but my favorite of the moment is:
"He always interrupts and talks over people like he's better than them. Bitch I will beat the shit out of you."

BoatOfVelociraptors October 8, 2012 at 9:55 pm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luhn_algorithm
The web page JavaScript does this first to ensure unnecessary database lookups are called.
Then an ACID transaction is opened up between the end points of the entire transfer, while sub transactions to ensure consistency and integrity are performed, and if any of those checks fail, the entire transaction is rolled back like nothing ever happened.
But that would presume that these twits know anything about integrity.

LagunaB October 8, 2012 at 10:42 pm

These days (years) it is so hard to get through compliance each December, you have to be a computer scientist to answer all the questions correctly. I don't process online because of cost and ability to ship order immediantly/ daily/ now. And customers are completely cranky about everything that I have to jump thru hoops and be super nice all the time. I hate being nice. And I am a nice person!

savethispatient October 9, 2012 at 1:08 am

Yeah, the point is that he used his valid US-based credit card, and entered a fake foreign address. Makes perfect sense that the Bank catches this first – presumably the Obama campaign has to do some due diligence on the donations before they submit to the FEC, but that's probably after the election.

sullivanst October 9, 2012 at 2:05 am

If you've ever read anything on RedState, or ever had the misfortune to be in the presence of a TV tuned to CNN while he's on, you know for sure that the only thing Erick Erickson knows about integrity is that he doesn't want to have anything to do with it.

tessiee October 8, 2012 at 9:55 pm

"The Obama campaign takes more than seconds to not approve fraudulent credit transactions, which is pretty much tantamount to … I don’t know, what’s something bad? Not recycling? Murder? Letting your car alarm go off at 3 in the morning? Child abuse?"

Having extremely loud karaoke parties where everybody sings very badly in Laotian, like a certain asshat neighbor who shall remain nameless?

cousinitt October 8, 2012 at 9:55 pm

I posted a retort on Erikerikerikerikerikerikturd's website to the effect that Romney went to Israel earlier this year to raise money. Even Faux picked it up http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2012/07/29/romn… These bastards will never, ever stop until our country is a wholly owned subsidiary of Inc, Inc.

LagunaB October 8, 2012 at 10:46 pm

Not going to happen. We have the intertubes. And we always win in the end. Do we not have a president called Obama who is black?

Tundra Grifter October 9, 2012 at 9:18 am

spareme October 8, 2012 at 9:59 pm

Can't this asshole come up with something original? Or he is going to stay will doing high school pranks his entire (professional?) life? I think he should be arrested for fraud. ASSHOLE!

Blueb4sinrise October 8, 2012 at 10:03 pm

It would not be funny if someone at B of A cancelled his card. Wrong keystroke…. Happens all the time.

Biel_ze_Bubba October 9, 2012 at 2:07 am

Hey, the card was in the hands of somebody in Russia … that's clearly grounds for cancelling the card immediately!

GemlikeFlame October 9, 2012 at 9:23 am

Actually, it would be funny. Wells Fargo fraud prevention kicks in if I so much as sneeze differently and I have to call them and convince them that it really was me who tried to buy a tank of gas in East Jesus, NC. This is a case of intentional fraud on the part of a cardholder and that account is subject to immediate cancellation and possibly other penalties (the fine print goes on for ages.)

And the idiot admits he did it it in a public forum. My problem with the right wing isn't that their beliefs are messed up beyond repair (which they are) but that they are mind-numbingly universe-collapsingly stupid. Like this clown.

tessiee October 8, 2012 at 10:04 pm

"It actually appeared, based on the way it processed for several days, that the bank stopped it, not that Barack Obama stopped it. "

Yeah, what kind of crappy President doesn't work in a bank, right?

Beowoof October 8, 2012 at 10:09 pm

Come on you expect me to believe a republican can't make a fraudulent campaign contribution. Check with Sheldon for how this works dumb ass.

fitley October 8, 2012 at 10:14 pm

Due to all the heat Erik took calling somebody "Goat fucker" before I thought it was clear that Erick wanted to be known as Erik"Steaming Pile"Erikson. Is that clear?

Sharkey October 8, 2012 at 10:15 pm

Click here to donate to the Campaign to Sue Erick Erickson!!!11!

HempDogbane October 8, 2012 at 10:17 pm

It's the same as murdering a car alarm. In broad daylight, with votes.

cousinitt October 8, 2012 at 10:23 pm

Aw fuck it. Now my post has been taken down and Erik the Turgid Turd says I don't have permission to post– in friendly white letters on a bright red background. Did someone trace my Disqus posts to TPM? It would be irresponsible not say that Hillary was right and there is a vast right wing conspiracy and Erik is one of the media stormtroopers. I didn't even use any bad words except like Romney, fundraising, Israel, foreign and posted the Faux weblinky.

sullivanst October 9, 2012 at 2:12 am

RedState is notorious for its zero tolerance of any comments or commenters not in compete agreement with every single thing Erick Erickson believes.

Chow Yun Flat October 8, 2012 at 10:55 pm

Given the level of reasoning and rhetoric he shows it is obvious why CNN grabbed Erickson off the right wing scrap heap.

cousinitt October 8, 2012 at 11:10 pm

But Shirley, there must be less appalling ways to make Wolf Blitzer look like the Second Coming of Edward R. Murrow.

Troubledog October 8, 2012 at 11:07 pm

When I design abuse prevention systems, I don't tell the fraudster that he is caught. I let him think he succeeded. Otherwise he will retry and retry, further taxing my systems. Even while I am reporting him, I am telling him everything is fine.

Sounds like whatever Obama has works pretty good – managed to fascinate Erick for three days.

LagunaB October 8, 2012 at 11:27 pm

Yep. You are right.

Preacher_Griz October 9, 2012 at 7:20 am

Am I the only Conservative Christian around here who understands credit card transaction processing?

Tundra Grifter October 9, 2012 at 9:21 am

No offense to you, but I would very much doubt that. Based on a limited amount of observation from a safe distance, I would say many of them are past masters at processing donations in all their many forms.

Self-Uploader October 8, 2012 at 11:09 pm

Another non-existent problem. The same people who are skeptical on climate change and believe the jury's out on evolution are convinced that the Obama campaign is taking foreign money, there are plans to implant chips in all of us, and there's tons of illegal immigrants and people with fake identities voting. There truly are two Americas.

Biel_ze_Bubba October 10, 2012 at 6:54 pm

So, can we just make Mitt president of the other one?

Ryy October 8, 2012 at 11:13 pm

Erick is a fat douche.

But you knew that.

sullivanst October 9, 2012 at 2:13 am

You forgot to mention ugly.

Ryy October 9, 2012 at 2:16 am

And sweaty. Seriously. He always looks like he is sweating in any picture….

Angry_Marmot October 9, 2012 at 2:28 am

And his momma dress him funny.

Naked_Bunny October 8, 2012 at 11:15 pm

It actually appeared, based on the way it processed for several days, that the bank stopped it, not that Barack Obama stopped it.

Erick Erickson demands that the President monitor and control your credit card transactions!

SayItWithWookies October 8, 2012 at 11:29 pm

This is proof that Erick Son of Erick deserves to be our next president — why, if he can make something this big out of absolutely nothing, just imagine what he can do with the economy.

owhatever October 8, 2012 at 11:38 pm

The mainstream media did not report this, so it must be true.

barto October 8, 2012 at 11:38 pm

Obviously they're playing the float and making massive amounts of money off your $5, dumbass. I mean Bof A, of course.

glamourdammerung October 9, 2012 at 12:07 am

Republicans sure do like committing various forms of fraud.

BaldarTFlagass October 9, 2012 at 12:09 am

Just proves that Obama is in bed with the bankers.

GeorgiaBurning October 9, 2012 at 12:48 am

Erick would really be upset if a candidate had a fundraiser on a boat registered in a foreign country, right?

Biel_ze_Bubba October 10, 2012 at 6:55 pm

Or went to England, and Israel, on fundraising trips. I bet that would really piss him off.

BarackMyWorld October 9, 2012 at 12:58 am

I do not know what processes the Obama campaign employs to weed these out. It actually appeared, based on the way it processed for several days, that the bank stopped it, not that Barack Obama stopped it.

YOU DIDN'T STOP THIS!

sullivanst October 9, 2012 at 1:25 am

You'd know damn well, right quick, if the bank had stopped the charge. There'd be absolutely no element of doubt. Because the bank would be doing a little NFL celebration dance like a safety who'd just batted down a pass attempt that was never going to be within 10 yards of its intended receiver or any other offensive player. You see, when the bank stops transactions they believe are fraud, they really really really want the customer to know how fucking awesome they are for not facilitating some pimply faced douchebag with a botnet in stealing your money. They want you to jump in your car, drive to their headquarters in South Dakota or Delaware, and high five everyone in the office personally (shouldn't take long, those offices are just a front), and they're likely to phone you up and tell you this.

So, if the transaction just vanished without the bank saying anything, it's a 100% slam dunk certainty that the vendor (in this case, OFA) withdrew the charge.

ElPinche October 9, 2012 at 1:45 am

Please forgive Erickkk, his thoughts get stuck in his chins.

Angry_Marmot October 9, 2012 at 2:30 am

Does anyone think this is the first time Erick needed a credit card to pull one off?

Dr. Nick Riviera October 9, 2012 at 6:19 am

CNN contributer, everybody!

Negropolis October 9, 2012 at 6:42 am

OT: Why are there Newsmax headlines in the side column? I'd pay a subscription if it kept Wonkette from lowering itself to have to include such trash. Newsmax probably isn't even allowd by a lot of mainstream conservative sites, let alone a site like this which is dedicated to calling out bullshit.

BigSkullF*ckingDog October 9, 2012 at 10:14 am

On the other hand, it makes the bullshit so much easier to call out, considering its right there. Look, there it is. Over there and up a bit. —>

johnnyzhivago October 9, 2012 at 10:55 am

They are pretty funny….

DahBoner October 9, 2012 at 7:08 am

Kids, be careful out there! Whether you're clicking on boner pill links on Wing Nut Daily or links advertising a "barely used" uzi on the NRA page, remember- you don't know what kind of wacko is on the other side…

Toomush_Infer October 9, 2012 at 7:17 am

Yeah, but what about the rumor that one of the sanctions we put on Iran is that 10% of every credit card transaction the Ayatollah makes, goes directly to Obama's campaign….huh?…what about that rumor I just made up, huh?

ttommyunger October 9, 2012 at 7:51 am

"I do not know what processes the Obama campaign employs to weed these out. It actually appeared, based on the way it processed for several days, that the bank stopped it, not that Barack Obama stopped it." – Stop it, just stop it, this is hard….

docterry6973 October 9, 2012 at 8:13 am

I wonder if Erik son of Erik consulted anyone who knows how credit cards are processed? It wouldn't seem he did, or he would know that he has a big pile of nothing here. Or maybe he did and just lied, hoping no one with sense would notice. On Red State, that is a good bet.

billy_reuben October 9, 2012 at 8:19 am

Outraaaage! Rrrrobble robble robble!

He made up a passport number? Super. What a marvelously detailed fantasy. Did he create a fraudulent shoe size for his imaginary friend, too? Where on the campaign donation website (or any campaign donation website) does it ask for a passport number?

I enjoyed this story. Anything pushing the feeble minded rage-aholic readership of redstate towards having aneurisms is a good thing. The fact they voluntarily opt in for it makes it even better.

Tundra Grifter October 9, 2012 at 9:24 am

The Obama campaign has two donation pages – one for folks in the US of A and another for Americans living overseas.

Of course, if the campaign didn't accept contributions from citizens in other lands, the right wing nutz would whine "OBAMA HATES THE MILITARY."

BaldarTFlagass October 9, 2012 at 9:23 am

Sound. Fury. Signifies?

Ruhe October 9, 2012 at 9:24 am

While Eric was busy bravely attempting to make an illegal $5 donation the Akbot web bot was efficiently utilizing the "FBI has frozen your computer" virus to gather $2 Billion in donations to the largest of the pro-Romney PACs. All Erickson's investigation proves is that Obama's campaign people are incompetent amateur's…but we knew that already.

Esteev October 9, 2012 at 9:43 am

When people say "Today's media sucks," they are talking about Erick Erickson.

BigSkullF*ckingDog October 9, 2012 at 9:47 am

Today we are all pending . . . .

cheetojeebus October 9, 2012 at 9:52 am

Douche, Son of Douche

GregComlish October 9, 2012 at 9:59 am

So, after talking with some lawyers about the process, etc. I donated to Barack Obama. Sort of.

Interesting. Did your "lawyers" not attempt to dissuade you from breaking the law? Or did you just ignore them?

prommie October 9, 2012 at 10:03 am

Is this thing on?

(Don't make me go to kos or HuffPo this morning, Don't do it.)

BaldarTFlagass October 9, 2012 at 11:16 am

Really. I was hoping to get some snark out of my system this morning, so I'd be a little more subdued when I go in to brief the colonel at 11…

hagajim October 9, 2012 at 11:21 am

If I were Barry and I saw I got a $5.00 donation from Erick, I'd wipe my ass with it before I gave it back.

carlgt1 October 9, 2012 at 11:38 am

ummm, Mitt Rmoney just held a pretty big fundraiser in Hong Kong, not to mention Jerusalem, London, and Warsar. I guess that's less than a few $20 credit card transactions?

chascates October 9, 2012 at 12:09 pm

With Presidential campaigns costing over a billion dollars candidates will have to start asking for donations from Saudi Arabia, Germany, and other prosperous outfits.

FieryLocks October 9, 2012 at 1:28 pm

Eric Erickson bottom feeds from Brietbart's ass crack.

CommieDad October 9, 2012 at 3:26 pm

This settles it. I think every god-fearing-conservative-real-american needs to donate $5 to the Obama campaign RIGHT NOW. They can use the address of their condos in Bermuda. This will PROVE that Obama will take donations from anyone who is legally allowed to donate to him.

If you want to REALLY PROVE A POINT, please donate $2500 directly from your Cayman Islands account. It's still perfectly legal, but you can then prove that he is taking money that once lived in the Cayman islands.

Lionel[redacted]Esq October 9, 2012 at 7:45 am

Vote Republican!!

CleverSobriquet October 9, 2012 at 1:37 pm

It's actually quite simple Just send me your credit card number and CVV and I'll let you know all the websites that have it on file by the end of the month….
