because ACORN

RNC Shocked That Firm Known For Voter Fraud Was Doing Voter Fraud For RNC

Add to Flipboard Magazine.

would you buy a used car from this man?Back in 2004 and 2008, GOP operative Nathan Sproul was constantly being accused of voter registration fraud — including having his workers misrepresent themselves as nonpartisan, and then having them throw away or destroy registration forms turned in by Democrats. (One Utah Republican noted, “the difference between ACORN and Sproul is that ACORN doesn’t throw away or change registration documents after they have been filled out.”) But back in 2004 and 2008, Republicans hadn’t spent a year trying to disenfranchise olds, poors, youngs and minorities with voter ID laws, so so what, who cayuhs? Now the RNC is shocked — shocked! — that the man they’ve paid $2.9 million to so far this year to conduct voter registration in five battleground states has apparently been caught turning in voter registration forms for dead people in Florida. No really, they’re shocked. They have totally fired him, and he’s super-blacklisted until Karl Rove’s Crossroads or the Koch Brothers’ AFP puts him on the payroll. (Or until, like Blackwater, he changes his firm’s name.) So we figure he’ll still be blacklisted until at least next Tuesday.

So what was Sproul’s Strategic Allied Consulting doing this time? Oh, just turning in voter registration forms for dead people, giving their addresses as gas stations and a Land Rover dealership. Fully a third of the forms they turned in to the Palm Beach registrar look to have been fake.

This is excellent news for John McCain.

    • teebob2000

I got into a "discussion" with a right-wing asshat (sorry for the redundancy) FB "friend" who threw out the old trope about "illegals" voting for democrats. He: 1) couldn't produce ANY evidence this has occurred more than a handful of times nationwide in the last decade, and 2) ignored my counterpoint that to have ANY effect on an election, you'd have to have tens or even hundreds of thousands of illegal votes cast which would be virtually impossible to pull off logistically, not to mention keeping that many people quiet about it.

The whole "massive voter fraud stealing elections meme" is just ridiculous from a logical point of view, even ignoring the fact that there's zero evidence of it happening at all. Except on the GOP side, of course.

    • http://lostintarnation.blogspot.com/ SayItWithWookies

Well they have to — ever since Nixon accused JFK of stuffing ballot boxes in 1960, the misdeeds that Democrats have probably perpetrated in Republicans' imaginations are much worse than those the Republicans were actually gonna do — so the GOP has to respond by being even worse than they had wanted to be. It's a sad escalation, but that's what you get when there's no limit to what you can imagine your adversary doing.

      • Naked_Bunny

Psychological projection explains so much of Republican policy.

You'll need a fresh polo shirt, too. And a nice big SUV to ride around in. Yes, it's an investment, but don't worry, you'll be paid back, plus a little for being good.

  • CrunchyKnee

Cheater cheater, baby eater. This has to be Clinton's fault somehow.

    • http://www.vinoverve.com Maman

And because baby eating is involved, clearly papists are in on it too.

      • BaldarTFlagass

And if it's Christian babies, Jews and Muslims too.

    • James Michael Curley

Clinton was accused of a lot but his, I.e., Carvelle's, election plan in 1992 was spectacular. Contacts were made all the way down to the voter district level and each district was evaluated as to how many Democratic votes were needed to win that district. Then this was walked up the hill to whether each winning district producing X number of Democratic votes would win the state. It was awesome. I pulled my weight and got a free ticket to an inauguration ball.

      • MoeDeLawn

Thanks for your service at the ball.

        • James Michael Curley

          It was really quite boring.

To be fair, Editrix, it's Florida. Sometimes it's hard to tell if they're dead or not.

    • KeepFnThatChicken

Mormon Methodism, which involves a light baptismal facial sprinkling.

You're getting perilously close to necrophilia there, bub.

Ever get the feeling that investigations should be launched every time Republicans make some kind of accusation? But the Republican's should be investigation instead of the Dems.

I am terrified to know what Michelle Bachmann's plans were for the re-education camps, but I am sure she had them.

  • Chichikovovich

This is a not a rhetorical question – though I have a good guess at what the answer is, I'm not sure.

Isn't this the sort of thing that should have this guy facing criminal charges?

I'm pretty sure that various hapless ACORN workers ended up doing time for less.

  • Not_So_Much

So, where's the part from NBC about why he isn't in jail?

  • LibertyLover

I'm confused. How did they get all those dead people to sign the registration forms? Were they zombies?

    • Esteev

All you have to do is place a piece of tracing paper on their headstone and rub some charcoal over it a la Indina Jones.

  • Esteev

You see! They were right all along! There is voter fraud happening!

    *something whispered in Esteev's ear*

Oh, I see. Well it appears these people are complete fascists.

  • memzilla

Of course, it's the Democrats pointing out voter fraud who are the real fraudsters.

  • SoBeach

Only way to ensure a fair election is for Florida now to demand three forms of ID from registered republicans before giving them a ballot. Oh, and a doctor has to declare them to be alive.

And that doctor must be Bill Frist, diagnosing you remotely.

    • LibertyLover

      • LibertyLover

What? You mean that wasn't really Barack and Michelle personally asking for money either? Man, what is the world coming to?

    • Guppy

Depends: is "good morning" a euphemism along the lines of "happy ending?"

    • Sassomatic

Sproul, who has long worked for the GOP, also criticized Florida and national Republican officials for dumping him.

Awwwww. Widdle Nathan got his feewings hurt after the big bad RNC stepped on his dick. Bless his heart.

Get back to me when the New Black Panther Party (Republican) starts harassing voters in Philadelphia.

  • BoroPrimorac

The reason the GOP gets away with all this horrible shit is because the democrats never call them out on it. By the time the 2014 election rolls around, none of the voter ID laws or the roll purges will be remembered.

It's not a crime if it's done for the Right reasons.

  • CommieDad

When Zombie Republicans show up to vote, the RNC sure is going to feel bad for firing Mr. Sproul.

  • CommieDad

The sad thing is, he likely wasn't doing this to improve GOP chances in Florida. He was probably getting paid by the registration and was just trying to make a buck. So, in reality, he was making money and jobs, and he got punished for it. I blame the Democrat party for getting in the way of this job creation effort.

  • http://citizenfuturist.wordpress.com/ RufusTFirefly

I enjoyed the massive coverage Fox News gave this story.

  • TakomaDC

If it happens in Florida it's criminal and eventually we all find out about it. Is it due to the shape of the state? Or just the state of the shape? Flaccid and pointing towards a "commie" isle full of classic American cars and tons of rum.

  • TakomaDC

Didn't our nation's great supreme court declare that dead people are corporations and therefore eligible to vote for time-everlasting?

  • rickmaci

All Republican registrations in Florida are suspect. If the Dems in Florida had brass they would sue to challenge ALL RepubliCon registrations until the state can verify they are all legitimate.

  • BartStarrland

Sproul said in a telephone interview that his company has employed between 4,000 and 5,000 people to register Republican voters under its contract with the RNC, including over 2,000 in Florida
