Scott Brown Warns Elizabeth Warren To Stop Her Racist Tomahawk-Chopping And War Whoops

Massachusetts Senator (and former “nice guy”) Scott Brown does not condone his top staffers war-whooping and tomahawk-chopping like a bunch of vulgar Atlanta fans, and so he has given them “their one and only warning.” He means it this time, or they will get a time out! He has such strong feelings about this that in lieu of apologizing, as Cherokee Nation leader Bill John Baker demanded, he is “encouraging both sides to act with respect.” Elizabeth Warren, when will you stop being so terrible and racist to Scott Brown, and start acting with respect?

From Politico:

“Senator Brown has spoken to his entire staff – including the individuals involved in this unacceptable behavior – and issued them their one and only warning that this type of conduct will not be tolerated,” Brown spokeswoman Alleigh Marre said in a statement. “As we enter the final stretch of this campaign, emotions are running high, and while Senator Brown can’t control everyone, he is encouraging both sides to act with respect. He regrets that members of his staff did not live up to the high standards that the people of Massachusetts expect and deserve.”

Of course, that’s a spokeswoman. The only thing Scott Brown has said on the matter to date remains:

“It is certainly something that I don’t condone. The real offense is that (Warren) said she was white and then checked the box saying she is Native American, and then she changed her profile in the law directory once she made her tenure.”

      Rachel Maddow tweeted about Wonkette!

"Story of Scott Brown staff mocking Native Americans is now so over-the-top, only Wonkette can do it justice: is.gd/a3cDBc"

        1. Boojum

Every single one, I'm sure. Which makes me happy.

I love Rachel Maddow, with the pure and unadulterated love of a thousand Golden Retriever puppies.

  1. no_gravity

he is encouraging both sides to act with respect

Did I miss where Warren had a bunch of naked men posing in front of Brown's office.

    1. Antispandex

Yeah, BOTH sides are the problem. The thugs he sends out to do this crap, and the thugs he doesn't send out. Oh, and the press who pretends not to notice…so, three sides really. A triangle of bullshit.

          1. Doktor Zoom

Well, Brown's more of an "otter" from what I hear…

Here in Idaho, our own governor is a Butch Otter.

        1. FakaktaSouth

Everything I know about the Ute Indians, i learned on fucking South Park. We're all Cherokeed up down here.

    1. chascates

That Mandan is acting like a Caddo! He should be forced to eat Crow, take a hit of Mescalero, or drink some of that Kickapoo joy juice.

      Want some Modoc?

    2. Doktor Zoom

I'm just glad that Brown's popularity in the polls hit a Pequot the summer and has declined since then.

    3. unclejeems

Brown's wife reminds me of this Chickasaw, Cheyenne Romney. Anasazi! Excuse me. Anyway, Elizabeth Warren, Yurok!

    4. Negropolis

Why I Ottawa..Huron out, you better start being more respectful of your Elders. It's Ojibwe of the highway, buddy!

  2. Schmannnity

So when a Cairo embassy flack makes an uncleared statement, it's Obama's fault, but some Brown shits are not his responsibility?

tomahawk-chopping like a bunch of vulgar Atlanta fans

Oh my god I am such a fan of vulgarity in Atlanta. But fuck baseball.

    1. rickmaci

I like vulgar, especially in my women. What I hate is stupid, like those asshats in the asshats. I mean, what is with the backwards golf caps? So 1990's frat rat.

      1. FakaktaSouth

I hate baseball caps on grown men on a personal level now days and I have a kid who plays "travel-ball" which is of the devil. But I likes me some vulgar and I am definitely a woman and Atlanta really can be so much fun.

        1. prommie

And besides, this word vulgar, I am gonna have to go Inigo Montoya on you. I think there's a better word than that.

          1. FakaktaSouth

Hm, well, I was trying to stick to the theme, but yeah, there are better words. Helpful? Well situated? Has a good airport? I don't know, vulgar sounds funner and close to what I DO like and it does TOO mean what I think it means.

          2. Boojum

You know, I have a birthday coming up. I can't imagine anything better than Wonketteers coming to town…sure, not on my actual birthday (Saturday), but soon after!

        2. rickmaci

LOL, Scarlet. Feel the same way about cowboy hats and boots on men who are not within 5 miles of a cow, horse or line dance bar. (I can't tell you how many team hats my Mom had piled away in closets when I left for college. She only kept one, from my first Little League team.)

  4. EatsBabyDingos

The real offense was my girlfriend slamming her face into my closed fist, Judge.

    What a fragrant turdblossom.

  5. IceCreamEmpress

Wharfargbl. It's like Scott Brown is taking away every white girl's right to claim that she's 1/16th Cherokee Princess and/or descended from Pocahontas!

I love Warren, but I do think she was an idiot for relying on family lore to claim Native ancestry. That said, what else is she supposed to do other than what she's done about it? Build a time machine and go back to undo the claim?

Scott Brown's other attack strategy, that she represented an asbestos company, got (or so I heard) sharp reprimands from the RNC folks because, hey, we're on the side of the asbestos companies, doofus!

    1. sullivanst

Given the context in which she claimed Native ancestry, it was not in any way inappropriate for her to do so on a genuinely held, if undocumented, belief at that time (the 80s and 90s). Demands for documentation are either ignorant of, or counting on the audience's ignorance of, the history of tribal enrollment vs. ancestry vs. eligibility for citizenship of the Federally recognized tribes, which is complex, to say the least. Just the fact that she's from Oklahoma should be enough to satisfy any reasonable person of the likelihood she has some Native blood.

The asbestos stuff is just standard Rovian smears, with about as much honest representation of the facts as you'd expect (none at all). Brown's just another lying goober sleazeball.

      1. IceCreamEmpress

I love Warren! But her stories about this make no sense. It's not even a question of "documentation" (I am definitely aware that the Dawes Rolls and other Cherokee genealogical resources are very spotty, and that the process for awarding tribal affiliation is convoluted and hit-or-miss, unsurprisingly given the lack of resources both presently and historically)—she doesn't have specific ancestors whom she believes to have been Native, and her statements about it have been pretty nonsensical ("high cheekbones"? Really?)

The people I knew at Harvard in the 1980s who self-identified as Native grew up on the rez and/or were active in tribal politics, and they were skeptical at best of people who claimed Native ancestry on the basis of family legend about unnamed ancestors.

    2. Negropolis

Everybody claims native ancestry, and most of us do it without documentation. You honestly don't know how common this is?

  6. Callyson

one and only warning that this type of conduct will not be tolerated

Yeah, when I try that with my dogs, they laugh and keep it up until I separate them from whatever they are chewing on. Can't imagine the centerfold's dawgs will be any different.

  7. An Asexual Ungulate

I know I hate when people who I'm attacking on the basis of their apparent race make my underlings act like racist assholes. Stop it Elizabeth Warren. It's unprofessional to make those people be terrible like that.

  8. Dudleydidwrong

They're playing "cowboys and Indians" in Massachusetts. Scott Brown may be a "nice guy" (former, at least) but Elizabeth Warren wears the white hat.

  9. actor212

"It's something I don't condone. Other things I don't condone are naked pictures of men in magazines, except mine, male models doing Jordache commercials, except mine, and shaving facial hair, except mine. "

  10. BloviateMe

I feel his pain. I reprimanded a co-worker for flagrantly being black in the workplace, and he was hostile about it! So irritating.

    1. Negropolis

The nerve! All up in there existing and shit like he's a legitimately employed human being or something! What a snob with his blackness!

  11. SexySmurf

Speaking of Taxachusettes dipshits, here's a bunch of Republicans talking about what a shitty governor Mittens was. He used to make his staff walk around with fake earpieces pretending they were Secret Service agents.

    1. oenspiek

Kindly old Ben Franklin is supposed to have suggested that little gem.

He was never mean or ornery, he was swell.

  12. Goonemeritus

Why the hell is this race so close, it’s in Massachusetts after all? Even if you like Brown (and I don’t) or you dislike Warren I can’t believe that liberal a state would risk turning the senate over to a Republican majority.

    1. IceCreamEmpress

Scott Brown has a pickup truck and his daughter was on American Idol. Also, he's a dude.

That gives him lots of traction outside of the metro Boston area. Elizabeth Warren is a lady and a Harvard professor and looks like that teacher who gave you a D- in seventh grade that one time. This gives her negative traction outside of the metro Boston area.

I still think/hope Warren will win on Bammerz's coattails; everybody, even the Republicans in Massachusetts, hates Mittens and hopefully the Republicans will stay the fuck home.

    2. SexySmurf

It's because the Democratic Party (who suck at the same corporate tit as the Republicans) keep punching her in the boob.

  13. SayItWithWookies

So I take it both sides will compromise here — Scott Brown's people won't make war whoops and those stupid, stupid, tomahawk gestures and Elizabeth Warren's people won't keep insisting on pointing out his campaign's boorish behavior.

  14. teebob2000

His full quote was: "…and then she changed her profile in the law directory once she made her tenure. Paleface — as you can see, just look at her — squaw heap dishonest.”

And he danced away from the podium singing, "Daaaaaa, da da-duh-duh-duuuuuuh…"

  15. Antispandex

"…he is encouraging both sides to act with respect."

This is CLASSIC! Your thugs get a bunch of negative press, so you encourage the other side to act more responsibly. What a tool.

  16. barto

I think Scott Brown should be commended for his gallantry and chivalry in single-handedly leveling the playing field between a white male of privilege and a woman with a checker-boxed past.

  17. Ruhe

Their "one and only warning"? Who gets or gives warnings in situations like this? You'd presume that for the candidates, running a successful campaign is pretty damned important right? I'm thinking that in an analogous business situation there would be no "warning" but rather there would be Tump-like "you're fired, get out." Is it possible that by "warning" his staffers Brown is doing some very tricky, double-secret, dog-whistling?

  18. magic_titty

Is this one of those 'if you weren't black I wouldn't call you the n-word so don't get mad it's your fault' deals?

    I love those.

    1. IceCreamEmpress

Nah, because she isn't actually Native as far as she can tell. Someone in her family just told her she was and she believed them.

      1. Negropolis

Are you Native American? Because you seem curiously determined to tell others that she's not. I mean, this is like the fourth posts I've seen of yours in this thread where you keep bringing this shit up.

  19. comrad_darkness

How do these guys do so well given they are staffed by morons? Seriously, if this one issue was his one and only issue, which it seems to be, his staff did the one and only thing that would neutralize it.

Seriously, how the eff do they still get so many votes with this kind of stupid?

    1. mille derps

He plays for the (R)ight team. More & more folks just look for the (R) or (D) after the name when they go in the voting booth.

The alternative would be to actually try & follow the campaigns & only masochists like us are willing to do that these days…

  20. mavenmaven

It would have been cool had Warren supporters attend Brown speeches with large staples attached to their chests… but then, she has actual content to campaign on.

  21. cousinitt

When interviewed after the crucifixion of Jesus, the spokesman for Ponitus Pilate said while the Judean Prefect "can’t control everyone, he is encouraging both sides to act with respect." Now, back to you in the studio, Biggus Dickus.

  22. deliman4

I'm confused is Liz a whoop whoop injun or one of those"you want something else with your SLURPEE injuns?

  23. belmontreport

He's right, white men should be the ones that get to decide other people's race/ethnicity based on what they look like. "I know that you said that you are Puerto Rican, but you look Mexican to me, so you are now Mexican."

  24. MistaEko

This is like when Tom Delay and Abramoff broke back in 05, and the talking point was "political corruption is an American problem." Which of course worked wonders for the 06 election.

    1. BaldarTFlagass

They'd probably be able to upgrade if they got themselves a better casino going than the one there at the convenience store in Why.

  25. decentcitizen

Repug is racially insensitive – hires racially insensitive staff but Warren is the real racist because she picks and chooses the company in which she discusses her racial heritage.

  26. MonkeyMotion

That's right Scottie. And here are a few more that should take your sage advice:

    Nazis and Jews
    Spanish Inquisitors and heretics
    Slaveowners and slaves

    Kryst, what an asshole.

  27. Misty Malarky

My father married a pure Cherokee
My mother's people were ashamed of me
The indians said I was white by law
The White Man always called me "Indian Squaw"

    [CHORUS:]
    Half-breed, that's all I ever heard
Half-breed, how I learned to hate the word
Half-breed, she's no good they warned
Both sides were against me since the day I was born

We never settled, went from town to town
When you're not welcome you don't hang around
The other children always laughed at me "Give her a feather, she's a Cherokee"

    [Repeat Chorus]

We weren't accepted and I felt ashamed
Nineteen I left them, tell me who's to blame
My life since then has been from man to man
But I can't run away from what I am

    [Repeat chorus]

  28. Guppy

while Senator Brown can’t control everyone

How can a Republican Senator be trusted to control the ladyparts of every post-pubescent woman in the country if he can't control his own staff?

  29. knuck1es

@elizabethforma: Scott Brown is talking about anything but his record. People in MA are frustrated. I don't blame them. #FocusOnTheIssues #masen

You see? Both sides do it!

  30. DahBoner

    Which is worse?

Checking a box that applies to you or letting creepy photographers take pictures of your Schlong?

  31. Negropolis

“It is certainly something that I don’t condone." is September's "Well, I wouldn't have used those words."

  32. mmeetoilenoir

This numbnuts is making me remember when someone would pull some shit in school, and the teacher would find out…only to blame me for the problem as well, even though it wasn't my fault in the least.

Elizabeth, stop troubling this nice man and just submit! Then, everyone will be happy.
