LAZY LIKE A FOX!  12:00 pm September 21, 2012

Pennsylvania Voter ID Sponsor Simply Does Not Care For Lazy 47% ID-Less Bums

by Jesse Taylor

don't worry, it's a white kid, no fraud hereWe handily explained Pennsylvania’s voter ID law to you earlier this week, so we will make that up to you by informing you of someone being a shithead about the whole thing.

You see, hundreds of thousands of otherwise eligible Pennsylvania voters may not be able to get IDs, and there is a reason for that. State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, speaking to KDKA Radio, has determined that is is just lazy olds and blacks being unwilling to do the work necessary to assure him they aren’t committing voting fraud.

HOST: Are you absolutely convinced…that the methods to implement this law are effective and will in fact make sure no legitimate voter will be disenfranchised?

METCALFE: I don’t believe any legitimate voter that actually wants to exercise that right and takes on the according responsiblity that goes with that right to secure their photo ID will be disenfranchised. As Mitt Romney said, 47% of the people that are living off the public dole, living off their neighbors’ hard work, and we have a lot of people out there that are too lazy to get up and get out there and get the ID they need. If individuals are too lazy, the state can’t fix that.

It is probably good for Mitt that even at the state and local level, people are taking his strong message of 47% of America lovingly going to fuck itself in its tender bum to the airwaves.

Here is something that occurs to Your Wonkette: if you are too lazy to go get an ID, aren’t you too lazy to commit voter fraud? Let’s think about this for a second: you are too lazy to go stand in line at the DMV, but you will drive around to multiple locations on a workday to fraudulently vote after you fraudulently registered weeks in advance in coordination with thousands of other lazy bums. Presumably, there are also checklists and spreadsheets that go along with this sort of thing, all coordinated by someone who won’t take a half hour to get an ID. (Let us never mind that it can actually take hours or even days to get an ID. Those are facts to be discussed in December.)

Maybe if you are so lazy about getting an ID, you are also so lazy about frauding people, and so should probably be allowed to vote without an ID. This, friends, is logic.

These assholes would let Paterno vote if they could, and he's dead. (maybe he will vote a few times this year)

Pres.Beeblebrox September 21, 2012 at 12:18 pm

Of course they would, because JoePa was a big Republican.

MosesInvests September 21, 2012 at 1:51 pm

Hell, they'd let Sandusky vote.

freakishlywrong September 21, 2012 at 12:02 pm

Has anyone broken it, (gently, because teatarded, obvs), to this jackhole, Metcalfe, that HE is living off the "public dole"?

Sophist[Kochblocker] September 21, 2012 at 12:17 pm

But he can't be. He's white.

ph7 September 21, 2012 at 12:02 pm

We lazy shall overcome! Eventually!

Sophist[Kochblocker] September 21, 2012 at 12:19 pm

Give us liberty, or…don't, I guess. Whatever.

Yeah, let's do it! Revolution! Right after this original "Star Wars" trilogy marathon on TV…

TheGyrus September 21, 2012 at 12:03 pm

I'm lazy and I vote.

LesBontemps September 21, 2012 at 12:09 pm

I'd upfist you more, but I just can't be bothered.

Baconzgood September 21, 2012 at 12:13 pm

I'd read your comment, but I just can't be bothered.

Toomush_Infer September 21, 2012 at 1:37 pm

Could you keep it down? I was almost …..

slowhansolo September 21, 2012 at 12:04 pm

Metcalfe was also the sponsor of Pennsylvania's shoot-first Castle Doctrine law. Very possibly the worst of a bad bunch.

iburl September 21, 2012 at 12:04 pm

I might be more worried about people losing their votes if I had any faith that Republican IT guys weren't just going to just switch them anyway.

eggsacklywright September 21, 2012 at 12:18 pm

Lie, cheat, and steal, it's their MO.

Pragmatist2 September 21, 2012 at 12:30 pm

We'll know if we see a lot of write-ins for Ron Paul or James Kirk.

Arkoday September 21, 2012 at 12:48 pm

I jut can't get my head around the concept of 'Republican IT guys'. Oil/water sort of thing.

Redgyal September 21, 2012 at 1:01 pm

From my experience most of them are republican. It has to do with a tendency to see the world as black and white (binary not race).

GunToting[Redacted] September 21, 2012 at 1:23 pm

Seems like the fits the Libertarian ethos completely. They never like it when reality intrudes on their ideal utopia.

PubOption September 21, 2012 at 1:47 pm

So that's why software manuals are useless.

finallyhappy September 21, 2012 at 12:04 pm

He is hopefully from the Mississippi part of PA- not my birthplace and home for 21 years- Philadelphia. Not that we didn't have our own Philly jackasses.

slowhansolo September 21, 2012 at 12:07 pm

Cranberry, Pa., outside Erie. Six-time incumbent.

Pres.Beeblebrox September 21, 2012 at 12:20 pm

Actually, Cranberry is a Pittsburgh suburb in purplish-red Butler County.

slowhansolo September 21, 2012 at 12:24 pm

Oops. Now I wish I hadn't been too lazy to look it up.

Geminisunmars September 21, 2012 at 12:41 pm

Cranberry seems like a good name for a purplish-red county.

el_donaldo September 21, 2012 at 12:05 pm

What?!? Lazy freeloaders living off the government dole? Are white, Southern conservatives now invading Pennsylvania?

Oh, they're already there. Never mind.

Baconzgood September 21, 2012 at 12:16 pm

"The region of Pennsylvania not found within either the Philadelphia or Pittsburgh city limits." Thank you very much.

Yours Truely,

Pittsburghzgood

Steverino247 September 21, 2012 at 12:37 pm

White, Southern conservatives are invading Pennsylvania and nothing is being done about it?

George Meade libel!!!!!!

freakishlywrong September 21, 2012 at 12:05 pm

By lazy, he means Blah, right?

Pres.Beeblebrox September 21, 2012 at 12:21 pm

Or Brahn…

Graham Cracker September 21, 2012 at 12:06 pm

The dumb just keeps getting dumber, doesn't it?

EatsBabyDingos September 21, 2012 at 12:06 pm

Well, those 47% probably feel too blah to vote.

NorthStarSpanx September 21, 2012 at 12:06 pm

I've tried living off my neighbors’ hard work, that exceptional meat head's take-home forces me to wait to get my nails retouched every two weeks instead of one.

Goonemeritus September 21, 2012 at 12:07 pm

He’s too much of a pussy to use the word shiftless!

Oblios_Cap September 21, 2012 at 12:07 pm

Shit, someone in Flor-i-duh renewing a drivers licewnse this year has to bring so much documentation it's riduculous. If you've been divorced or ever changed your name (like getting married) you have to bring even more crap with you.

It's fucking insane!

Pragmatist2 September 21, 2012 at 12:07 pm

We need IQ tests for elected officials more than we need ID tests for voters.

UnholyMoses September 21, 2012 at 1:00 pm

If it weren't for stupid voters, those idiots would not have been elected in the first place.

Just sayin' … (or typin', in this case)

FlownOver September 21, 2012 at 12:08 pm

Dude's just begging for a skullfuck.

calliecallie September 21, 2012 at 12:13 pm

His brain will shut down if it's a legitimate skullfuck.

Oh. Apparently it already has.

BigSkullF*ckingDog September 21, 2012 at 12:20 pm

I'm on it!

MosesInvests September 21, 2012 at 1:54 pm

Or machine-gunning with votes.

EatsBabyDingos September 21, 2012 at 12:08 pm

HOST and METCALFE makes me think that a metcalfe is a parasite.

fartknocker September 21, 2012 at 12:09 pm

I bet 47% of the PA remember you as a gaping asshole in your next election.

This election is about one thing: us versus them. I'm pretty sure America has many more Joe and Jane Main Street working class men and women than wives with fucking prancing ponies.

Oblios_Cap September 21, 2012 at 12:53 pm

Memory's an elephant!

EatsBabyDingos September 21, 2012 at 12:11 pm

Needz more santorum.

Baconzgood September 21, 2012 at 12:11 pm

I met him several times in social settings. He's an ass hat!

C_R_Eature September 21, 2012 at 12:20 pm

What a surprise.

Baconzgood September 21, 2012 at 12:26 pm

No honestly. He's really not very smart. He was all proud at an event at Heinz Hall that he went to Kansas State. It was funny when everyone in the conversation circle went to Ivy League (except for Baconz, I only went to CMU).

slowhansolo September 21, 2012 at 12:34 pm

At least you got to look down on Pitt students. *innocent whistling

imissopus September 21, 2012 at 2:04 pm

Hey! As someone who spent three semesters at Pitt before transferring, I…oh never mind.

C_R_Eature September 21, 2012 at 12:42 pm

I believe it. With this crop of Republicans, ignorance and incompetence are not Bugs, they're Features.

C_R_Eature September 21, 2012 at 12:12 pm

The real question is: are 47% of Pennsylvanians too lazy to find Metcalfe and kick him vigorously in the Nutz until he goes home?

EDIT: Kick vigorously in the Nutz, with VOTES!

fuflans September 21, 2012 at 1:00 pm

what's the avatar?

C_R_Eature September 21, 2012 at 1:12 pm

What, mine? It's a Broad-Stripe Cuttlefish. Probably threatening the diver photographer.

EDIT: On second thought, it's probably Cthulhu.

Maman September 21, 2012 at 12:13 pm

How does no car get equated with "Lazy" instead of "Broke"?

T3rbo September 21, 2012 at 12:19 pm

How embarrassing-he meant "Black," not "lazy." I could see how you would get confused there.

calliecallie September 21, 2012 at 12:14 pm

"It is probably good for Mitt that even at the state and local level, people are taking his strong message of 47% of America…"

This will be the gift that keeps on giving. Thank you, Mother Jones, Jimmy Carter's grandson, and whoever filmed it in the first place. Thank you.

PsycWench September 21, 2012 at 12:25 pm

This guy's going further than Mitt…Mitt talked about 47% not paying income tax and Metcalf has them all on welfare and food stamps, er, SNAP. I'm sure the Romney campaign is excited about that.

eggsacklywright September 21, 2012 at 12:30 pm

And it's so difficult for voters this time around, what with Mittz being digital and his wife being Annalog.

cheetojeebus September 21, 2012 at 12:15 pm

So? Legitimate voters..? So, I see, this is all about rape. right?

Blueb4sinrise September 21, 2012 at 12:15 pm

Met calf. Fucked it.

Sophist[Kochblocker] September 21, 2012 at 12:16 pm

Oh, just say "untermenschen" already. We know you want to.

LibertyLover September 21, 2012 at 12:16 pm

Why don't we just ink our fingers after we vote? Like they did in Iraq?

SorosBot September 21, 2012 at 12:17 pm

Yeah, poor people are just so lazy, after they get home from their second or third minimum-wage job they're just too tired to go take all the endless time needed to get an ID. Lazy!

PsycWench September 21, 2012 at 12:28 pm

I know some of those 47% and they work their butts off. This reminds me of living in Philadelphia for two years, and interacting with a lot of immigrants for the first time. Whoever said immigrants were lazy sure didn't know the ones I met.

SorosBot September 21, 2012 at 12:32 pm

Please, we can't let facts get in the way of our ridiculous stereotypes!

BigSkullF*ckingDog September 21, 2012 at 12:20 pm

Live off my neighbor's hard work? Obvs this guy has never met my neighbors. Unless playing Madden NFL while on meth at 3 am as loud as humanly possible is considered hard work.

finallyhappy September 21, 2012 at 12:36 pm

well, there are- two working parents and 3 kids- but all I ever get is the loan of the dog

sudsmckenzie September 21, 2012 at 12:20 pm

I cant vote now, I take a shitty DMV picture.

Monsieur_Grumpe September 21, 2012 at 12:20 pm

Metcalfe sounds like a good name for a stool loosener.

HELisforHEL September 21, 2012 at 12:20 pm

God fucking god.

Geminisunmars September 21, 2012 at 12:50 pm

I think you are missing an "o" somewhere in there, but I can't decide where.

HELisforHEL September 21, 2012 at 1:40 pm

HAHA! Stooopid fingers. For some reason, it seems to work as it stands, too.

Baconzgood September 21, 2012 at 12:21 pm

He said once that “One fraudulently cast voter is one too many,” only to continue "If it takes 300,000 people kept from their civic duty so imaginary dragons can't fraudulently vote than I'll do it. Snarf zipple whaka whaka mo-mo"

SorosBot September 21, 2012 at 12:24 pm

That's still one more fraudulently cast vote than there is any evidence has actually been cast in recent decades,

Ruhe September 21, 2012 at 12:35 pm

I think they use the same logic on the capitol punishment issue. Few innocents dead for every ten guilty that get the needle is a fair price to pay.

Callyson September 21, 2012 at 1:50 pm

OT to BG–glad you're OK and not impacted by that hostage situation going on downtown (WTF?)

BartStarrland September 21, 2012 at 12:22 pm

PsycWench September 21, 2012 at 12:22 pm

Wonder what he'd say if he had to wait a couple of days for an ID.

Pres.Beeblebrox September 21, 2012 at 12:23 pm

Why don't these fuckheads just get it over with it and say they don't want the Blahs in the cities to vote for Obama? I'm sure there are plenty of nice Blah gentlemen from North Philadelphia or the Hill District in Pittsburgh who would be willing to show them the error of their ways.

finallyhappy September 21, 2012 at 12:37 pm

North Philly- I went to college there!

Pres.Beeblebrox September 21, 2012 at 1:16 pm

Me too. Dodging bullets at Temple was a fun pastime, but the best partwas that the Saladalley restaurant on campus sold beer by the pitcherand DID NOT CARD!

johnnyzhivago September 21, 2012 at 12:23 pm

The GOP is on a roll – by excluding the 47% in lower income groups, 51-52% of female americans, 10% gay americans, 12% latino americans and 15% african americans – they are going to be pushing toward ZERO PERCENT of the vote this year.

Ruhe September 21, 2012 at 12:24 pm

HOST: Are you absolutely convinced…that the methods to implement this law are effective and will in fact make sure no legitimate gun owner will be deprived of their second amendment rights?

METCALFE: I don’t believe any legitimate gun enthusiast that actually wants to exercise that right and takes on the according responsiblity that goes with that right to secure a permit and use liscense will be prevented from owning arms. As Mitt Romney said, 47% of the people that are living off the public dole, living off their neighbors’ hard work, and we have a lot of people out there that are too lazy to get up and get out there and take the gun safety courses they need. If individuals are too lazy, the state can’t fix that.

Nah…that could never happen.

Mumbletypeg September 21, 2012 at 12:47 pm

This.

Gleem McShineys September 21, 2012 at 1:39 pm

Times a million!

That post was really well regulated, also.

Oblios_Cap September 21, 2012 at 12:27 pm

I was in the local pub being harangued by an acquaintance who is a libertarian. He was getting quite drunk and took offense when I told him that I had to hand it to him – at least he was honest about being a selfish prick. Whereupon he began calling me a useless parasite since I work for a psuedo-governmental agency (it did no good to tell him I was not paid by the goverment and was not actually a government employee; you know how facts can really screw up a good screaming match). anyway, I got tired of arguing and told him that yes, I was just a slacker wasting his tax dollars, and I loved doing it. I offered to cut out the middleman by letting him pay my bar tab up front.

Hilarity ensued.

fuflans September 21, 2012 at 12:31 pm

keep up the good work!

though i don't wish you more encounters with screaming libertarians.

Oblios_Cap September 21, 2012 at 12:37 pm

Well, the fact that he was claiming that he was a producer (not a moocher!) was because recently he got busted for growing and selling dope. Which I was nice enough to point out, though I am not against the practice personally. That episode has only increased his antipathy toward the government, for some reason.

Steverino247 September 21, 2012 at 12:43 pm

And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for you meddling Feds…

proudgrampa September 21, 2012 at 1:13 pm

Sir, you are someone I would be proud to know. Have a Sapphire martini on me!

emmelemm September 21, 2012 at 1:27 pm

And after the hilarity subsided, were the police called in?

Oblios_Cap September 21, 2012 at 1:35 pm

No. I left him face-down yelling at the counter in a puddle of beer. Alcohol is our friend.

SorosBot September 21, 2012 at 12:27 pm

It's the fault of those nasty feminists, making Metalfe's dick so tiny like Rush's that he just has to be a ginormous asshat shitdick too.

MadBrahms September 21, 2012 at 12:38 pm

If he's too lazy to go get up and get out there and get a penis enlargement, there's nothing we can do about that.

johnnyzhivago September 21, 2012 at 12:28 pm

One of these days White People will come to the polls and find out they have to do a basketball test or a dancing test before they can vote.

T3rbo September 21, 2012 at 12:43 pm

Is blackface ok?

SorosBot September 21, 2012 at 12:46 pm

Well brownface for talking to Latino voters apparently is.

Steverino247 September 21, 2012 at 12:44 pm

Or pass a test in Ebonics.

T3rbo September 21, 2012 at 12:30 pm

Where are the small government folks on this issue? I don't have to carry or own any god damn id to do anything except travel (hum..) or to be brown in Arizona (right..), and the state wants to exclude me from the democratic process unless I request an ID from them?
Why are none of these fake mother fuckers in their colonial uniforms making any noise about government issued voting permits? Oh, that's right, because they don't read god damned books, they only listen to the radio, and everyone they listen to on the radio says its all good via code words and dog whistles.
Blacks are stealing from you, let's make sure they can't vote because they won't pay the poll tax/ pass the laziness test. That was real hard to decode there, Senator racist piece of shit. Also, obstacles to voting are ok as long as I can easily clear them. Everyone else, too bad you fail the tests I put up-you failed them because you are black. The end.

HELisforHEL September 21, 2012 at 1:45 pm

Well said. And their silence on this point is pretty deafening (though unsurprising).

It's amazing that a bunch of lardasses in government-issued Jazzies can feel that they are the hardest working people evah and that the only reason they don't have that mansion on the hill is because the Blahs and Feminazis and gubmint regulations (like clean air & water) are keeping them down.

shelwood46 September 21, 2012 at 2:07 pm

I say we put it out there that this is a government conspiracy to get all our photos in a national database for that new, expensive facial recognition software the feds just bought.

T3rbo September 21, 2012 at 2:24 pm

Yeah, we do need to rile up the RON PAUL 2012 PEOPLE…..

Sophist[Kochblocker] September 21, 2012 at 12:31 pm

The days are just packed (with voter suppression).

MadBrahms September 21, 2012 at 12:43 pm

Great catch.

At least he's only a state rep, and not (yet?!!) in the U.S. House.

Baconzgood September 21, 2012 at 12:32 pm

From his website:

"legislators across the nation who are committed to working together in demanding full cooperation among our federal, state and local governments in eliminating all economic attractions and incentives for illegal aliens"

It's working! No one, legal or illegal, finds Evans City an economic attraction.

Steverino247 September 21, 2012 at 12:45 pm

"Do illiegal aliens make our federal, state and local asses look fat?"

Oblios_Cap September 21, 2012 at 12:35 pm

Our Super of Elections sends the sample ballots out early enough that I've already located everything by the time I vote.

Geminisunmars September 21, 2012 at 12:44 pm

I'd be too lazy to go through it.

mrblifil September 21, 2012 at 12:35 pm

This goes back to slave masters. Slaves didn't volunteer to be there, and didn't agree to work hard, yet faced the constant possibility of violent reprisal for not working hard. To then turn around and accuse the slaves of being inherently lazy probably served as an extremely useful way for owners to guarantee continued compliance. Doesn't matter how hard you worked yesterday, if you're branded (perhaps literally) as lazy. Gotta prove yourself anew every goddamn day or be whipped or even hung.

What this guy is saying has it's roots in all that.

randcoolcatdaddy September 21, 2012 at 12:35 pm

There's just no way for Obama to win with all those lazy people staying at home.

KeepFnThatChicken September 21, 2012 at 12:35 pm

Goddamn these people and their legitimate rape, legitimate children, and legitimate voters. Goddamn them all.

MadBrahms September 21, 2012 at 12:44 pm

The only thing their discourse seems to lack is legitimate grievances.

magic_titty September 21, 2012 at 12:37 pm

If we're living off our neighbors hard work, why can't we just ask them to vote twice? Once for themselves, once for me. Problem solved.

IncenseDebate September 21, 2012 at 12:45 pm

Eventually the stupid will swallow itself and become a worm hole to brilliance?

DahBoner September 21, 2012 at 12:51 pm

Where does it say in The Constitution that lazy people have a right to vote, huh?

lotusflwr September 21, 2012 at 1:03 pm

WTF, I come to Wonkette for laffs while I lounge abount unemployed all day, eating gubmint cheese n' peanut butter sammiches, willfully being lazy/ill/irresponsible; I don't come here for LOGIC! Plz henceforth endeavour to the Fox News high standards of vapid, irrational political pseudo-infotainment and stop drinking from the Kool-Aid lamestream.

Damnit, now I'm thirsty and want Kool-Aid.

Toomush_Infer September 21, 2012 at 1:48 pm

You deserve it – have another vote….

owhatever September 21, 2012 at 1:05 pm

It's in the Constitution that you must have a photo ID to vote. George Washington and them said so.

teebob2000 September 21, 2012 at 1:23 pm

Fuck.

You.

GunToting[Redacted] September 21, 2012 at 1:28 pm

Fucking rights… How do they work?

Self-Uploader September 21, 2012 at 1:32 pm

I hope this asshat has parents on social security who no longer drive (hence no "proper id) who are still strong enough, nevertheless, to whop his ass. (Wishful thinking I know.)

docterry6973 September 21, 2012 at 2:32 pm

That is the last straw. I am going to get my photo id just as soon as the gummint sends me the cab fare.

HouseOfTheBlueLights September 21, 2012 at 3:03 pm

Trying to come up with something something pithy and clever, but, just… wow.

dinkybossetti September 21, 2012 at 4:54 pm

My county's commissioners voted to allow a county senior care center to give any county resident an ID: http://m.timesherald.com/therald/pm_109116/conten
I thought that was an interesting move.

Would the system still work if folks on the left were as good at being shameless cheating bastards as the folks on the right?

ttommyunger September 21, 2012 at 11:21 pm

I'd tap out a snappy retort, but I'm just too fucking lazy.

slowhansolo September 21, 2012 at 2:16 pm
