RAPE RAPE  11:25 am July 10, 2012

Next Vice President Nikki Haley Axes Half Mil From Rape Crisis Centers Because They ‘Distract’ From Public Health

by Rebecca Schoenkopf

Accused, charged, tried and convictedFirst the sluts tried not to die from cervical cancer, but South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley had a national reputation to tend to, so she vetoed voluntary HPV inoculations for teen girls. But what have the sluts done this time? Well, they went and got themselves raped.

According to the governor, state funding for rape victims “attempts to serve a portion of our population for which we extend our sympathy and encouragement, but nevertheless, it is only a small portion of South Carolina’s chronically ill or abused.” Haley said the $453,000 designated for the South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault’s rape crisis centers “distract[s] from the agency’s broader mission of protecting South Carolina’s public health.”

Now those are some conservative credentials! We salute you, Governor Haley — or should we say “Future Vice President Haley,” amirite???

So how is the War on Women going in South Carolina, Palmetto Public Record?

[T]he State Law Enforcement Division reports that South Carolina’s rape rate has exceeded the national rate every year since 1982. Jacobs said the coalition’s 15 sexual assault programs in South Carolina helped over 5,000 victims in 2011 — over half of which were children — and emergency hotline workers answered over 7,000 calls, SCCADVASA’s programs also provide prevention education to over 50,000 South Carolina students, which Jacobs said helps prevent sexual violence before it occurs.

“If this veto is not overridden, rape crisis centers will lose 37% of their current state funding, which will drastically reduce their ability to respond to victims and provide prevention education,” said Jacobs.

Well, we guess the War on Women is going smashingly then! Good job, SC. You are now a Brigadier General.

Is Nikki Haley really that stupid and cruel? I think we're seeing that there is no depth to which she won't sink.

IonaTrailer July 10, 2012 at 11:54 am

No kidding. Where is Aileen Wornos when you need her. Oh, wait. She dead.

Crank_Tango July 10, 2012 at 11:54 am

Yep, she really is the whole package isn't she?

mrpuma2u July 10, 2012 at 11:59 am

What's next? She will announce that women that weren't wearing ankle length skirts and modest tops were "asking for it" ??? Perhaps the rape victims were in fact witches, that used spells that "forced" the men to rape them. Yeah that's the ticket.

sullivanst July 10, 2012 at 12:31 pm

Emphasis on the cruel. It's considered a desirable quality in Republican circles, for reasons I cannot even begin to understand.

eggsacklywright July 10, 2012 at 12:33 pm

American Taliban, coming to a state near you.

sullivanst July 10, 2012 at 12:35 pm

American Taliban, probably already all around you, especially if you live in the South.

Antispandex July 10, 2012 at 2:19 pm

A gutsy call (even for a republican). She isn't pro-rape, she just doesn't want to help women who have been. What's that they say about Karma?*

* With votes.

actor212 July 10, 2012 at 11:28 am

it is only a small portion of South Carolina’s chronically ill or abused

Yes, rape is an illness! You heard it from a woman, too!

So next time your daughter or girlfriend is raped, just remind her that it will pass with a little penicillin and some hot chicken soup.

ratcityrebel July 10, 2012 at 11:32 am

Why isn't Obama dedicating money to research into the rape vaccine?

actor212 July 10, 2012 at 11:35 am

It's all that Big Pharma money.

jodyleek July 10, 2012 at 12:19 pm

Chicken Soup for the Sodomized Soul.

Barb July 10, 2012 at 11:28 am

Rape victims will just have to pay for their medical treatment with chickens.

actor212 July 10, 2012 at 11:29 am

Feed a chicken, fuck a duck.

Oblios_Cap July 10, 2012 at 11:36 am

That's how you get duck pox.

eggsacklywright July 10, 2012 at 11:44 am

And stay away from hogs or you'll get hogwarts and end up in Potter's field.

actor212 July 10, 2012 at 11:46 am

I thought you got down off a duck?

eggsacklywright July 10, 2012 at 11:37 am

Keep rapin' that chicken.

Barb July 10, 2012 at 11:38 am

The chicken was asking for it because she wasn't wearing enough dressing.

actor212 July 10, 2012 at 11:43 am

Hey! She asked to be stuffed!

Estproph July 10, 2012 at 11:29 am

"Haley said the $453,000 designated for the South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault’s rape crisis centers “distract[s] from the agency’s broader mission of protecting South Carolina’s public health.”

And that mission, like all missions, can best be served by giving all of the money to billionaires.

elviouslyqueer July 10, 2012 at 11:31 am

True. Because those Kochs can't suck themselves.

Oh, wait.

tessiee July 10, 2012 at 1:57 pm

Also, by defunding social services, they become penniless, therefore ineffective, thus proving the point that these programs "just don't work".
It's a win-win!

ChernobylSoup July 10, 2012 at 11:30 am

"It's a great day to be raped in South Carolina, how may I help you?"

ratcityrebel July 10, 2012 at 11:31 am

Is there some sort of lobby to protect South Carolina's proud history of rape?

SorosBot July 10, 2012 at 11:45 am

It's called the Men's Rights Movement.

Cato56 July 10, 2012 at 12:04 pm

Yes, it's called the South Carolina Republican Party. They have their own flag, a standard called the "Stars and Bars," which I take to mean celebrities at drinking establishments.

Guppy July 10, 2012 at 12:51 pm

The Sons of Confederate Veterans.

FidoMcCokefiend July 10, 2012 at 11:33 am

Conservatives on Rape "it is only a small portion of South Carolina’s chronically ill or abused."

Conservatives on Vote Fraud "OMG SOCIALISM ALINSKY WE MUST PREVENT THIS MASSIVE PROBLEM"

Sounds about right to me.

PuckStopsHere July 10, 2012 at 11:33 am

Airplane (or was it Airplane II) said it best: "They're all asking for it. All the time."

JustPixelz July 10, 2012 at 11:58 am

You're thinking of Newt Gingrich.
You're thinking of Sarah Palin (talking about her breeding stock),
You're thinking of Jerry Sandusky.

Oblios_Cap July 10, 2012 at 11:34 am

It's obvious that you elitists don't understand that it's "Heritage, Not Hate!"

LesBontemps July 10, 2012 at 11:44 am

SayItWithWookies July 10, 2012 at 11:51 am

Why not both?

Jeri 2.0 July 10, 2012 at 11:35 am

Sounds like what they need is a pedophile crisis center if half their rape victims are children. Elastrators can be bought by the boxful for next to nothing. And if the abuser is a woman, well there's always dowsing and stoning and burning at the stake.

Nikki is one of those women who will do anything to be accepted by the boys, isn't she? Pathetic pig.

Baconzgood July 10, 2012 at 11:35 am

What the fuck is with this cunt. Isn't there somthing you women can do with her? I don't know, like revoke her girlness or somthing?

sharethegrief July 10, 2012 at 12:03 pm

It's so hard to achieve a status worse than a rapist but she's getting really close.

BigSkullF*ckingDog July 10, 2012 at 12:04 pm

We can only do that once a generation and we already used this one on Ann Coulter.

Nowisallthereis July 10, 2012 at 12:07 pm

It definitely works. Too bad you can't do it more often.

KarenJ503 July 10, 2012 at 2:00 pm

There's some question as to whether she IS a girl, a woman, a female. She has the same manjaw Sarah Palin and Ann Coulter do.

ChernobylSoup July 10, 2012 at 11:35 am

How is this shit not front page news throughout the country and the world? Really. It can't just be liberals who see the evil in these attitudes. As a society, we passed the era of judges who wanted to know victims' skirt lengths long ago and that it's time to whatever I can't put up with this shit anymore.

emmelemm July 10, 2012 at 1:11 pm

I gotta agree with Haley; I find rape to be pretty distracting myself.

The only thing that will distract me from rape? More rape.

According to the governor, state funding for rape victims “attempts to serve a portion of our population for which we extend our sympathy and encouragement, but nevertheless, it is only a small portion of South Carolina’s chronically ill or abused.”

See?! If you slutty women want to get taken seriously you gotta pull some big numbers in the 'chronically ill or abused' game. Rapists, we're counting on you to help a slut out!

Generation[redacted] July 10, 2012 at 12:13 pm

It's only a small portion.

And really, they just need our encouragement. You go girl!

You don't just walk into a conservative state with a budget like that for helping abused and victimized people. That budget, with its round seven-figures, its enticing expenditures lines, its already underpaid and overworked staff, it was just asking to be cut.

Doktor Zoom July 10, 2012 at 11:36 am

I misread that as "NIKKI HALEY AXES HALF MILF" and was wondering why she would do such an inhuman thing.

Actually, I have the same question when I read the headline the right way, too.

Just ask blogger Will Folks aka @fitnews. He's the one who swore during Haley's campaign that she was a lyin' cheatin' adulterer, and that he should know because he was the object of her attention. He even passed a lie detector test.

So whatever happened to the scandal? Same thing as Sarah Palin's….crickets…

MumbletyRadio July 10, 2012 at 11:51 am

South Carolina was a mess of contradictory opinion when I spent a brief year there during my 20s. Downtown Columbia had a laudable homeless-assistance coalition, but there was some weird regulation prohibiting yard sales. Sale of fireworks throughout the state was lawful, as was riding your motorcycle without a helmet, but bikers needed to find their tattoo services out of state since SC kept out tattoo parlors.
And so the news that a woman in a position of power is denigrating those of her gender with a cavalier attitude about a deeply ingrained domestic violence problem, surprises me about as much as her contstituents' willingness to put a darkie in the governor's seat with one hand and continue to bang the drum at the next Klan rally with the other (lookin' at you, Pelion, SC)~

You all know that I work for a rape crisis center. I literally got off the phone with a victim not 1 minute ago. Her abusive boyfriend held a machete to her neck and threatened to push the blade in while she slept.

I never use this word to refer to anyone, but no other word can more succinctly describe my bile: Nikki Haley is a fucking cunt.

Limeylizzie July 10, 2012 at 12:02 pm

I did not know that, Fare la Volpe, now I love you more than ever.

Chick-Fil-Atheist™ July 10, 2012 at 12:04 pm

As a parent to daughters, I am saddened by the necessity of "rape crisis centers", but it is painfully clear they are the only life-line for many women… and I heartily agree with your verbiage, if only to illustrate the tone which should be set in retaliation.

Fare la Volpe July 10, 2012 at 12:06 pm

As I said, I never use that word lightly because of how misogynistic and destructive it is coming from a man. But misogyny be damned when the target is someone this maliciously cruel.

elviouslyqueer July 10, 2012 at 12:18 pm

What shocks me is her assertion that rape isn't a public health problem, when pretty much the first sentence of every. single. research. article. dealing with permutations of family violence/IPV/rape says something to the effect of "It is well established that physical, sexual, and psychological violence against women is a serious threat to women's health." Not to mention findings from the CDC and the NVAWS that are pretty clear that, yes, rape/IPV is a PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS.

Of course I'm blindly assuming that Nimrata actually reads stuff instead of just spouting off politically expedient talking points.

Doktor Zoom July 10, 2012 at 12:21 pm

Pfft. You just named a bunch of government agencies. Nothing good ever comes out of government agencies, so all these "findings" not only can, but SHOULD be ignored.

No shit. So say we all.

boobookitteh July 10, 2012 at 11:54 am

Considering the diseases that can be spread and the medical costs incurred by individuals and the system as a whole by sexual assault, I would say that rape crisis/prevention work is actually a big part of the mission protecting the public health.

Ugh – I saw "The Accused" when it first came out and was horrified. Never seen it again. Never want to. Just seeing the still pic brings back the ick.

Oh, and Nikki Haley can kiss my ass.

South Carolina: Condoning assault since April 12, 1861.

pdiddycornchips July 10, 2012 at 12:19 pm

South Carolina is home for lots of military and private military contractors. There's an epidemic of sexual assaults within the military and contractor communities. As the fighting winds down overseas, these men will be coming home so by all means, let's defund rape prevention programs.

GhostBuggy July 10, 2012 at 12:20 pm

OF COURSE the victims need South Carolina's sympathy and encouragement! How else will they make it through the pregnancy and child-raising that follows?

valthemus July 10, 2012 at 12:40 pm

How much money is being allocated for seamstresses and bulk purchases of scarlet letters?

va_real July 10, 2012 at 12:40 pm

We have a weak governor system in SC- Haley might have done better to follow in Sanford's footsteps & just vetoed the whole damned budget. At any rate, the Lege is reconvening a week from today to tackle Haley's vetoes. If anyone should wish to contact Speaker Harrell, please use the 'contact' link below- it can't hurt for him to know out-of-state people are paying attention to this since tourism is a major industry here:

Tourism, shmourism, South Carolina has priorities!

va_real July 10, 2012 at 2:20 pm

What are you trying to say? South Carolina loves confirmed bachelors. I can't remember us not having a gay Lt Gov (not that I'm trying that hard), & we keep voting for Lindsey…

Generation[redacted] July 10, 2012 at 12:42 pm

I for one applaud Nikki's bold move to help women. By getting government out of the way, she is allowing the private rape counseling market to flourish. Finally consumers will have a choice of rape counselors. If you've been raped, don't turn to some government bureaucrat, call the professionals. $1.99 for the first minute, $3.99 for each additional minute.

Ducksworthy July 10, 2012 at 12:44 pm

Also, domestic violence has pretty much disappeared in South Carolina, like racism.

Redhead July 10, 2012 at 1:02 pm

Well, I don't know the latest population figures for South Carolina, but $453,000-worth IS a lot of aspirin…

DahBoner July 10, 2012 at 1:38 pm

Are there no rape camps in South Mississippi Carolina Bama??

tessiee July 10, 2012 at 2:11 pm

"we extend our sympathy and encouragement"

It's nice that she stopped short of saying, "HAH ha!", but still, "sucks to be you" cannot actually be considered "sympathy and encouragement".

elgin_pelican July 10, 2012 at 2:21 pm

Meh. It's a family values thing – it's not rape if it's your husband-brother.

elburritodeluxe July 10, 2012 at 2:39 pm

Sounds like these ladies need a little more Jesus and a little less getting raped.

thefrontpage July 10, 2012 at 3:11 pm

I had sex with Nikki Haley, about a dozen times, or so. She wasn't that great. She kept talking about politics, and women, and food. She was a lousy cook, too. She's terrible at politics, too. But she always had plenty of whiskey, so that was the one good thing about sleeping with her.

Naked_Bunny July 10, 2012 at 4:49 pm

Rapists should be forced to pay their victim's father 30 silver coins and then marry the victim, like God demands. That's the free market in action.

BZ1 July 10, 2012 at 6:01 pm

Has the war on women been won yet?

horsedreamer_1 July 10, 2012 at 6:17 pm

This is Good News for Duncan Proctor!

ttommyunger July 10, 2012 at 11:05 pm

Nikki assumes everybody's love-muffin is naturally protected by an East-Indian Style barbed-wire bush. Understandable mistake…

HoratioGalt July 12, 2012 at 12:44 am

Well, this is Tea Party America. They're creeping ever closer to their ultimate goal: the decriminalization of rape. I can understand Republican men been eager to see rape decriminalized. I mean, look at their leaders. Eric Cantor just LOOKS like a rapist. He's the guy who showed up at frat parties, scoped out the girls who were drinking the most heavily, then waited until they passed out to rape them. He is that guy. I promise you Rush Limbaugh has never had consenseual sex without paying for it. Though, I am confounded by a woman going along with this plan. Maybe Nikki Haley is like that woman in the Louie episode who had Louie spank her while she called him daddy, then wound up sobbing at the end of the bed. Or maybe Haley have accepted that it's their fault if they get raped. Who knows. Either way, she's a sadistic, backwards cunt. Fuck her and fuck South Carolina.

actor212 July 10, 2012 at 12:04 pm

I deny that slander and calumny.

LesBontemps July 10, 2012 at 1:52 pm

Well, in fairness, it is a race to the bottom.
