Fox News Innocently Changes ‘Growth’ In Number Of U.S. Mosques To An ‘Explosion’

by Wonkette Jr.

The views expressed on Fox Nation do not necessarily reflect reality.

It just focus grouped better, what. [Fox Nation via reallyfoxnews Tumblr]

I can't believe people are comparing Rupert Murdoch to Satan.
I mean he's evil, but he's not as bad as Rupert Murdoch.

ShaveTheWhales March 1, 2012 at 12:03 am

Glad to see you're fully back on board.

Biel_ze_Bubba March 1, 2012 at 2:49 am

Yeah, that does sting a bit. I'm looking forward to getting to know him, soon.

"An apology for the Devil – it must be remembered that we have only heard one side of the case. God has written all of the books."

CapnFatback March 1, 2012 at 12:01 am

Oh, those bombastic folks at Fox News!

Deportably_Jose March 1, 2012 at 12:15 am

I dunno, I think the whole thing's a bust.

user-of-owls March 1, 2012 at 12:05 am

"Exploding" Mosques are this generation's Surveyor Marks.

CapnFatback March 1, 2012 at 12:21 am

Wasn't Sir Veyor the sixth and least-known of the Marx brothers? If I recall correctly, his schtick was to blow a dog whistle wherever he went, and when the cops arrived to see who was causing the ruckus, he would point the finger at Chico.

Designer_Rants March 8, 2012 at 10:57 pm

Brilliant.

CapnFatback March 1, 2012 at 12:08 am

Not to mention that it's just poor grammar. It's not a matter of substituting a similar term loaded with innuendo and still getting the headline to make sense. I mean, who wants to read "Newt Gingrich Prematurely Ejaculates Presidential Race"? Or "Bristol Palin Pregnant with New TV Show?" Or "Rick Santorum Surging . ."

. . . well, bless my ever-copyediting heart.

Deportably_Jose March 1, 2012 at 12:15 am

Not just racism, but grammatically awkward racism. That way, you know they tried extra hard to shoehorn it in.

BarackMyWorld March 1, 2012 at 12:20 am

I hear they might even try to put a mosque at ground zero!

Biel_ze_Bubba March 1, 2012 at 2:52 am

Since there was a mosque inside the fucking WTC, you'd think that would not be a problem. For rational people.

DoktorThompson March 1, 2012 at 12:20 am

I see from that screengrab that there are 180 comments on that article. Want to play the Fox News comment drinking game? Shoot yourself every time you read a comment on Fox News.

JudasPeckerwood March 1, 2012 at 12:23 am

I predict that this will blow up in Fox News's face.

CapnFatback March 1, 2012 at 12:26 am

OOH! I have a headline for them! Let's see if you can spot where I play the "sly Fox":

"MC Hammer Changes Channel from CNN to Take a Propa Ganda at Fox News."

Can't touch that.

flamingpdog March 1, 2012 at 1:48 am

But can't Herb Cain?

Deportably_Jose March 1, 2012 at 12:30 am

Sure, but what Fox News will never tell you is that white mainline Protestants in Ohio have shot up five times in the same period.

(too soon?)

redarmyzombie March 1, 2012 at 5:04 pm

*groan*

Nostrildamus March 1, 2012 at 12:32 am

Fox News is a growth.

gullywompr March 1, 2012 at 12:32 am

It's un-BEAR-able.

ElPinche March 1, 2012 at 12:34 am

Here's my rebuttal headline:
"FOXNEWS CAUSES GENOCIDE, KILLS CHRISTIAN ZYGOTES"

…because 500,000 wingnuts wacked off to the mosque exploding headline today.

flamingpdog March 1, 2012 at 1:02 am

Jeebus W. Christ, I can't believe I actually went to Fox Nation, but the story was so short, I clicked on the first linkie I saw, read it, and realized I don't need to bother with The Onion any moar.

horsedreamer_1 March 1, 2012 at 1:03 am

Somebody tell the Teatards that the Mesquite barbecue chips they eat by the feedbag is both Messican (by origin) & Muslin (by name). Mezquita, in Spanish, means (of the) mosque.

littlebigdaddy March 2, 2012 at 7:17 pm

Thanks, horsey. That's why I am on the Wonkette, to learn esoteric facts.

flamingpdog March 1, 2012 at 1:09 am

How can 74 percent growth be "an explosion" anyway? It's nowhere near 179 percent!

Crank_Tango March 1, 2012 at 1:29 am

too soon!

Callyson March 1, 2012 at 1:23 am

FOX News stupidity explodes 79%

Crank_Tango March 1, 2012 at 1:26 am

Tomorrow's Fox News Headline: Gay Black Muslim Liberals Want to Rape You and Take Your Money.

Biel_ze_Bubba March 1, 2012 at 2:56 am

Rape and Robbery by Gay Black Muslim Liberals explodes 100%!!!!!!
(Two incidents, vs. the one back in 1989.)

Crank_Tango March 1, 2012 at 2:58 am

too soon!

Abernathy March 1, 2012 at 5:54 pm

That was Glenn Beck.

Loaded_Pants March 1, 2012 at 5:57 pm

You mean they haven't used that one yet?

arihaya March 1, 2012 at 1:27 am

the "trending button" for Fox Nation site is named "Fire It Up"

oh boys, I guess Fox-tards are really pyromaniacs

Biel_ze_Bubba March 1, 2012 at 2:56 am

Is it shaped like a cross?

smokefilledroommate March 1, 2012 at 1:41 am

And then everyone in the trailer park had a party to celebrate "the destruction of all them mosks".

e_z March 1, 2012 at 5:14 am

I like that the reading folks at Fox nation have rated their story as "Scary" and they don't mean Count Floyd scary either.

mausgeo March 1, 2012 at 4:52 pm

Hey come on…look at the budget I'm working with…how scary can it be?

ttommyunger March 1, 2012 at 7:25 am

Mooslims, yeah. That's the ticket! Pay no attention to Rupert's smarmy kid stepping down in fear of further legal action, disregard the growing scandal swirling in the Fetid Fox Family Tree, nothing to see here but fear, fear, FEAR!

chascates March 1, 2012 at 9:25 am

Sharia for some, falafel for others!

LesBontemps March 1, 2012 at 2:23 pm

Well, if someting's gotta be crammed down my throat, I'll take the falafel.

Abernathy March 1, 2012 at 5:53 pm

You can gave the falafel: Santorum's busy with the microphones and the law enforcement officials in Arizona are covering the undocumented members.

bagofmice March 3, 2012 at 6:59 am

But what about the schwarma?

horsedreamer_1 March 3, 2012 at 4:27 pm

Spit-take.

Beowoof March 1, 2012 at 10:01 am

Another explosion of inaccuracy at Fox News.

JustPixelz March 1, 2012 at 10:05 am

Any time they can get "mosque" and "explode" in the same headline, Fox counts it as a win. Some of their other favorites include:

"Gas Prices Skyrocket: Almost to Bush levels"
"Illegal Immigrants too Busy Voting to Self-Deport"
"Obama Apologizes to Al Queda" (this one is still in the bull pen)

Wadisay March 1, 2012 at 10:14 am

At least they did not go on to say that Obama had failed to denounce this development. Part of their lurch to the center, I guess.

weej_bain March 1, 2012 at 10:24 am

اللعنة عليك فوكس نيوز

Biff March 1, 2012 at 10:48 am

Too soon!

weej_bain March 1, 2012 at 10:56 am

Mmmm, better to give the Murdochspo a namaste and a smiley ☠?

mrpuma2u March 1, 2012 at 10:43 am

ECKSPLOSHUNS?!?!?!? I told ya them muslins weren't not up to no good, they's a buildin' BOMBZ to take our freedomz!!!!!!!

hagajim March 1, 2012 at 10:52 am

Faux News, unfair, unbalanced and frankly, just fucking wrong!

Oblios_Cap March 1, 2012 at 12:28 pm

Too bad Breibart couldn't have stuck round to see that. He would have loved it.

Redhead March 1, 2012 at 12:53 pm

I'm surprised they didn't change the number, either. Their interns don't seem to be very good at math.

Lionel[redacted]Esq March 1, 2012 at 12:54 pm

I thought correct FOX usage was a "Homicide Explosion of Mosques."

MinAgain March 1, 2012 at 1:48 pm

Fox is blowing this all out of proportion. Which makes sense, considering how much Fox sucks on a day to day basis.

slowhansolo March 1, 2012 at 2:01 pm

Man, what did 74 Percent ever do to U.S. Mosque Count?

Abernathy March 1, 2012 at 5:49 pm

Explodes 74% of what?!? Enquiring minds want to know.

valthemus March 1, 2012 at 7:44 pm

Some day I'll find out exactly what planet the "journalists" at Fox are looking at.

MiniMencken March 2, 2012 at 5:04 am

Hmmm. The USA population increased by just a little less than 10% in the past decade. The number of active mosques increased by 74%. The correct Fox hed should have been: "Mosque Growth Outstrips US Population Growth By 740%!!!!!!" There, fixed.
