Must have been a couple thousand students at least assembled in north side of Union Square.
Students talked about what is going on at their schools. Biggest travesty: Cooper Union, which has always been free for all accepted students, now wants to charge 30K per year.

Big march takes off down the middle of 16th street. Turns left on Fifth, where the building to be occupied is located. A small group of students storm the building before the cops can get in front of it, but they are close behind
The cops blocked the entrance, but are surrounded by students.
The students inside start to put up signs declaring the building occupied.
Eventually the march circled the block and got more students in via a side entrance, the cops pushed us back from there as well. All in all it was basic pandemonium at 14th and 5th for a good hour and half.

I just cleaned out my pantry to gather food for the Postal worker's food drive tomorrow. If anyone has anything they can give for the food drive, nonperishable, just stick it in a bag and set it near your mailbox tomorrow (Saturday) and the letter carrier will gather it for you. You can check the USPS postal service website if you are unsure of participation in your area.

We just had our first one yesterday, Day of Action and all that. About 30 something people in attendance, which is a HUGE turnout for this town. Mrs and Little Suzie Dewey went; I was stuck at work.
I marched with Occupy Toronto (and donated to OWS), so at the very least I can tell my kids that I was part of it.

It's the second week of what's expected to be a brutal season for job cuts as big banks have already announced that there will roughly 75,000 fewer people working at their firms.

How much do you want to bet that the layoffs are among the secretaries, tellers, clerks and office gophers, and not the actual brokers and executives with six or seven-figure salaries responsible for our financial meltdown?
Someone needs to get a copy of one of those pink slips and make "Job Creator Pink Slip" fliers. Paste them all over the city. Fold them into napkins at fancy restaurants, put them on the telephone poles, and leave them in bars the subways and metros of DC.
Just hammer the point home.

It really is starting to feel like a movement. I still hear the crap about unclear leadership and lack of actionable goals but I write this off as typical low attention span Americans wanting everything packaged for their convenience. As to whether these citizens represent me or not I’m not the one getting pepper sprayed so I am happy they our representing themselves.
It definitely looks like a movement on the sign at the top.
It makes it easier to try to ignore OWS if you believe they have no agenda.
I think the idea of the movement morphing and skirmishing is 100% better than sitting in the stupid park for 2 months.
