Fox News Names White House Shooting Suspect ‘Occupy Shooter’

by Wonkette Jr.

There is no such thing as satire.Remember yesterday when we were all making satirical jokes about how Fox News would call the angry bum arrested for allegedly shooting at the White House some symbol of the #OccupyWallStreet protests? Well, that happened. Today. The turnaround time for Satire-to-Actual Fox News Report has hit an all-time low of about ten hours.

Media Matters gets up early to videotape this absurdity:

Fox & Friends claimed that alleged White House shooter Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez had been “tied to [the] Occupy” movement, even calling him the “‘Occupy’ shooter.” In fact, investigators have reportedly “found no connection between him and the Occupy protesters.”

Haha, they even dragged terror-porn b-lister Michelle Malkin out of mothballs to basically read our post from yesterday, with a straight face.

Incredible! Or, not. In any case, that’s the story today in the Alternate Universe of Old People In Their Nearly-Foreclosed Homes: The pro-Obama hippies at the #OccupyDC camp are actually anti-Obama assassins. Good to know! And maybe it will become true someday, if enough cops crush enough innocent skulls, right? Gah. [Media Matters]

OWS needs to move uptown and OccupyFoxNoise.

SmutBoffin November 17, 2011 at 4:00 pm

The sanitation at Fox HQ would probably improve.

OneDollarJuana November 17, 2011 at 4:11 pm

Fox News mentioned OccupyDC, thus they are "tied to" the Occupy movement. Fox News is Terrrrrorists!

Generation[redacted] November 17, 2011 at 4:36 pm

Apparently, their reporters tried to "blend in" with the protestors.

Jukesgrrl November 17, 2011 at 5:09 pm

But most of the protesters can't afford fake boobs or that much hair dye, so it will be hard for them not to stand out.

Negropolis November 17, 2011 at 10:52 pm

Steve Doocey is a mess, isn't he?

Oh HELL YES

BarackMyWorld November 17, 2011 at 3:59 pm

Wow….just wow.

That's actually dumber than Perry saying Obama grew up privileged.

fuflans November 17, 2011 at 4:04 pm

nope, not clicking on that link with terror porn baby malkin.

not doing it.

i need my eyes too much.

Nostrildamus November 17, 2011 at 5:56 pm

From what I've read about his mom and grandparents, Obama did grow up privileged as regards moral, ethical and intellectual guidance. As far as economic and social privilege – maybe not so much.

jdoleman November 17, 2011 at 4:00 pm

This is like when James Kirk got that computer to blow up by the power of logic.

"But if the Occupy protesters want to kill the antichrist NOBAMA does that not mean they are like us, but they are SMELLY HIPPIES, but they want to kill Obama, but they are COMMIE radicals…..*Boom*

Job done.

Harcourt Fenton Hussein Obama, where have you been? What have you been up to? Have you been subverting the Constitution again, you miserable Muslin!

Beetagger November 17, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Maybe if he'd dyed his long hair blond, he could have blended in as a Fox news babe.

CarnyTrash November 17, 2011 at 4:02 pm

Boojum_Reborn November 18, 2011 at 7:07 am

Beard = Muslin. It's math.

kissawookiee November 18, 2011 at 10:17 am

His name is in Mexican, or Cuban, or something.

johnnyzhivago November 17, 2011 at 4:04 pm

So an American OSS Agent in Germany during WW-II who tried to blend in with Germans would be called a "Nazi Spy"?

tessiee November 17, 2011 at 9:30 pm

As if Fox would be *opposed* the Nazis.

paris biltong November 17, 2011 at 4:04 pm

Watching it on Ustream, as it happens. They seem to be moving to 23 Street, which is still a ways from the Murdoch emporium.

Captain_Quark November 17, 2011 at 4:04 pm

They forgot the part about him being an illegal immigrant. With a name like Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, the guy is obviously an illegal communist immigrant who wants to destroy America by killing the Kenyan Muslim usurper President. When he's done with that, Señor Ortega-Hernandez will implement Sharia Law and legalize gay marriage. But at least he has a firm respect for the 2nd Amendment, witness the AK-47.

MzNicky November 17, 2011 at 4:10 pm

This is the guy who has the "ISRAEL" tattoo on his chest, right? So it all makes sense now.

kissawookiee November 18, 2011 at 10:18 am

Commie gun. Just check the Smith & Wesson (TM) Second Amendment if you don't believe me.

johnnyzhivago November 17, 2011 at 4:05 pm

The guy looks like he probably speaks Cuban!

Negropolis November 17, 2011 at 10:54 pm

Or some kind of Spanish…(see: Family Guy)

Fukui_sanYesOta November 17, 2011 at 4:05 pm

The camp Alinsky kids are becoming, basically, lice-infested criminal magnets across the country

Then straight after that she claims it's all some kind of plot dreamed up in academia as an excuse for big government intervention.

So the person dehumanising the protesters as lice-infested Alinsky tools immediately claims it's also, too, a government/academia plan.

My brain, she hurts.

You know who else had an interesting method of dehumanising and de-lousing a group whom he disagreed with?

Sharkey November 17, 2011 at 4:30 pm

Criminals and lice, like peanut butter and chocolate.

Jukesgrrl November 17, 2011 at 5:16 pm

Good point. And their heads are spinning because the person who actually employed their prized "Second Amendment remedy" doesn't look like one of them. Cognitive dissonance at its finest.

BarackMyWorld November 17, 2011 at 4:05 pm

And somehow they'll eventually accuse Obama of being allied with the guy who shot at him.

Fare la Volpe November 17, 2011 at 4:14 pm

All part of his plan~

MzNicky November 17, 2011 at 4:16 pm

He set it up his own self. No respect for historic White House glass windows!, just like puttin' his Negro feet up on the presidential desk that time.

It's as beautiful as the Mandelbrot set.

Jukesgrrl November 17, 2011 at 5:17 pm

That's no doubt why they brought Malkin out of mothballs. She's the one who proposed that John Kerry shot himself in Vietnam because he knew he would one day run for president and wanted the Purple Heart for campaign purposes.

Negropolis November 17, 2011 at 10:56 pm

Surely, this is Obama's White House Reichstag fire. Amirite?

Callyson November 17, 2011 at 4:05 pm

"There is now conflicting evidence of whether he was in the Occupy DC camp"
Meaning:
Crap, there is not a shred of evidence that this guy had anything to do with OWS…

grex1949 November 17, 2011 at 9:20 pm

I dunno. He looks a lot like a guy I saw on Fox News when their intrepid reporter interviewed some people at that-there protest in Warshington. Long hair, hippy-lookin' dude. Prolly the same guy.

Biel_ze_Bubba November 19, 2011 at 3:18 pm

"Conflicting evidence" = evidence that proves us wrong.

SorosBot November 17, 2011 at 4:06 pm

That's it, Fox has now moved beyond parody. Stephen Colbert isn't as far out there as the real deal.

I don't think you can convict Doocy just for being an idiot.

johnnyzhivago November 17, 2011 at 4:08 pm

A better tact for Fox would be to imply that the guy was an Obama Supporter who was trying to kill the building and waited until the President was out of town so his "hero" couldn't get hurt.

4TheTurnstiles November 17, 2011 at 4:18 pm

Can you imagine the cognitive dissonance on the right? A pro-Israel, Obama-hating… Mexi-can? Whose side are you on, Hay-Zoos?

KeepFnThatChicken November 17, 2011 at 4:19 pm

HAHAHAHAHA you called Michelle Malkin a "porn blister." Maybe if she got a shot, she could clear that right up.

mookwrthwilson November 17, 2011 at 4:20 pm

So he shot at the president??? Hello show on Fox!

SayItWithWookies November 17, 2011 at 4:23 pm

See, the entire Occupy movement is a cover for President Obama to sneak in an agent to half-heartedly attempt to assassinate him, providing a pretext for the inevitable crackdown on gun ownership that Wayne Lapierre is always going on about. Even more sinister will be if they prosecute the shooter but don't confiscate everyone's guns — because then they'll be trying to lull everyone into complacency.

paris biltong November 17, 2011 at 4:29 pm

Slim_Pickins November 17, 2011 at 4:38 pm

It could have happened in the orthogonal universe Fox News occupies.

Douché November 17, 2011 at 4:40 pm

Based on that reality, if I just type in this box, that he was actually a Tea-Party founder, then you should be able to report it because I typed it, and if you read it here, it must be true, so it's your duty to report it. You're all welcome.

ingloriousbytch November 17, 2011 at 4:57 pm

"Blame Righty?" Umm…no Michelle it's "Kill Righty."

Pop_Socket November 17, 2011 at 5:02 pm

That would make James W. von Brunn the Tea Party Shooter.

glamourdammerung November 17, 2011 at 5:47 pm

More like the "Free Republic Shooter". Though it would be true in that case as he was a poster there.

arihaya November 17, 2011 at 5:14 pm

Trying to assassinate Hopey while he is in Bali is like trying to find WMD in Iraq .. or trying to find OBL in Afghanistan

Guppy November 17, 2011 at 5:21 pm

If the worst is going to be assumed anyway, work with it. Let every Occupy protester be as well-armed as is legally permissible. Let the Teabaggers see exactly what they're clinging to.

Brinksmanship is the only language they really understand, if they understand anything.

EDIT: Oh, fine, I suppose a bunch of scary (i.e. dark-skinned) union thugs waving signs saying "We've got guns, too!" would suffice.

datateday November 17, 2011 at 7:08 pm

I don't see what the problem is here. He used the Occupy Movement in some way shape or form so it's only natural to call him the 'Occupy Shooter'. It's better to give him a title so people can specifically recognize him and with the way h used the Occupy Movement it fits well enough.

glamourdammerung November 17, 2011 at 7:36 pm

Yeah, because his going on about how "Obama is the antichhrist" certainly does not sound like the stupidity you and your pals spew.

datateday November 17, 2011 at 7:59 pm

Glamourdammerung, I'm surprised at you. Don't you remember the early days at Wonkette, when it was so immersed in snark nobody could really tell the political positions Wonkette held? That's my high-water mark for true snarkiness and if you feel you can pin datateday down to a serious position or ideology then I must be doing something completely wrong here…

glamourdammerung November 17, 2011 at 8:03 pm

I must be doing something completely wrong here…

At least it is finally dawning on you.

datateday November 17, 2011 at 8:16 pm

Thank u based god.

Chichikovovich November 17, 2011 at 7:38 pm

He was also mentioned on Fox News in some way, shape or form, so can we call him the "Fox News Shooter", and say he's been "tied to Fox News"?

datateday November 17, 2011 at 7:51 pm

That's what the media does, they'll take a shooter and assign a nickname based on something unique about the person. This person hid in the tents of an Occupy Movement. Occupy Shooter fits him just as well as the Zodiac Killer or the Unabomber, and some may not feel those names are warranted for whatever reason, but they fit.

Chichikovovich November 17, 2011 at 8:24 pm

But in fact "the media" isn't doing this. I did a Google search on the expression "Occupy shooter" and found many of them, falling into three categories. a) Fox news. b) Blogger Ben Smith, blogging before the facts were known, trying to prepare the ground for arguing that this indicates that the Occupy movement is more violent than the Tea Party. (Once it became clear that the shooter was not an OWS participant, though he took advantage of the hiding places that were available, Smith has dropped the expression "Occupy Shooter". As you would expect.) c) Literally dozens of blogs commenting (almost all of them negatively) on Fox News's choice of expression. No ABC, no CBS, No NBC none of the cable news channels but Fox, no newspapers. Just a) Fox b) Ben Smith (apparently withdrawn) and c) people criticizing Fox.

This makes it clear that your reference to the "people"/"the media" taking the name to "fit" is disingenuous. The name has not had any traction, which indicates it does not, in fact, fit at all. One entity only is using this way of talking, and that's a group that is, at the same time, presenting people who refer to the Occupy Protesters as "lice-ridden", as "dirty", as "violent", who want to claim (with no evidence) that the shooter has "ties to" the Occupy movement. So why did Fox choose this expression, when nobody else did, and it was greeted with howls of protest, as they surely knew it would be? The question answers itself: the name left an impression consistent with the other unfounded impressions they have been working hard to plant in people's mind about the OWS.

datateday November 17, 2011 at 8:59 pm

Ah, okay. Well, I think it's a cute name. Better to have an 'Occupy Shooter' who probably didn't do it in a direct conspiracy with other Occupiers and didn't even shoot a person then get an Occupy Shooter that was capable of actually killing somebody though. I'd embrace the moniker so if there's another person who tries something who did more with & about the Occupy Movement it'd be 'welp, they already used up Occupy Shooter, so…'

glamourdammerung November 17, 2011 at 7:37 pm

The guy apparently whined about how Obama was the antichrist.

Which explains Fox/Breitbart/general conservative lunatic fringe's collective guilty conscience.

After getting cut by DC United, therefore losing his work visa, this Salvadoran would do anything to stay in the US. Even if it would mean going to Federal pound ye in the behind prison.

Isn't he really only guilty of shooting at a window since the President and the First Family wasn't even home?

Attorney Allrude where are you?

Why couldn't this guy be mad a Fox News anyways? They have lots of windows.

MilwaukeeKent November 17, 2011 at 9:43 pm

Guy is one strange case. Having a Hispanic name in Idaho most likely means he's a Basque, so I'm positing he's a lonely sheep-herder who's listened to way too much AM talk radio. He's probably an Anchor Baby like Ms. Malkin here, in this clip where she says she refuses to play that game where you jump to conclusions and throw accusations at your opponents, as she repeats several times.
Israel tattooed on his neck, WTF? Okay so he's just another Jewish extremist Basque sheep-herding crazy person, nothing new there, right? Or short version: a crazy person.

Negropolis November 17, 2011 at 11:17 pm

He's of Mexican descent. His family owns a Mexican restaurant in Idaho Falls, I believe. Apparently, they gave an interview on Telemundo.

Has the firearm used to shoot the White House been traced back to Fast and Furious yet? Brian Terry's family wants to know.

glamourdammerung November 17, 2011 at 11:07 pm

Why do you want to change the subject so bad? Guilty conscience due to considering that the shooter sounds just like your master and the other clowns at Big Failure?

di_da_is_alpha November 17, 2011 at 11:50 pm

The subject is the occupy insect who shot the White House. My comment is on topic. : )

Now, if I'd mentioned the half a billion dollars given to Solyndra, money that without doubt found its way into Obama's campaign fund, and how solar energy is a farce because it takes several decades, if ever, for solar panels to pay for themselves financially and they never pay for their own carbon footprint because it takes fossil fuel to provide the energy to make them, like the majority of them which are made in China with low quality coal …. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/25/business/energy... … , well then, yes, I'd be changing the subject.

glamourdammerung November 18, 2011 at 12:07 am

The subject is the occupy insect who shot the White House.

The "Occupy shooter" that had nothing to do with Occupy and spouts off the same type of stupidity folks over at Big Failure spew on a regular basis? It sure looks like you all are trying to change the subject after all the feeble finger pointing yesterday.

Really, you should work on that reading comprehension, champ. But then, if you had any common sense, you would not be a Breitard.

DustBowlBlues November 17, 2011 at 9:52 pm

"I'm not going to speculate, unlike the mainstream media." "Occupy is stoking violent rhetoric." Which is totally different than the wingers at the teabag events who carried guns. Or Republitard pols enouraging "2nd. Amendment remedies."

The guy who did the same at the WH when Billy C was in it is serving 40 years. All I can say of this Mexican Socialist Muslin is that it sucks to be him.

DustBowlBlues November 17, 2011 at 10:08 pm

Anyone see Keith tonight? The part about Faux news making up a 28th article of the constitution and section 144 and language about Supreme Court Justices recusing themselves? And totally ignoring the facts:

Thomas takes money he doesn't declare for the work his fat ass wife does for anti-health care groups.

But best of all, there is no Art. 28 or section 144. There aren't even 28 amendments. There is no language about the supremes having opinions. (More's the pity, since it could get Uncle Tom impeached.)

What kind of moran believes this shit? Murdoch has done for America what the Gaylords did for Oklahoma. These people just suck shit. How many ways can I hate them? Hate them. HATE THEM. Eat shit and die, Republics. Eat it now.

I know. I know. Preaching to the choir. But this particular choir is far more intelligent and snarky than the real choir at my church.

Nostrildamus November 18, 2011 at 1:04 am

What if you exclude the sopranos?

Negropolis November 18, 2011 at 6:57 am

How many ways can I hate them?

Let me count the ways…

DustBowlBlues November 17, 2011 at 10:16 pm

Seriously? A troll? Do nothing but thumbs down the dumb fucker and move on. They love attention. Why else would they wear teabag-dangling hats?

DustBowlBlues November 17, 2011 at 10:22 pm

And tonight these dumb fucks, Perry or Newt or Mittens–if you can tell the difference, you must glamorfuck-the-troll, claimed Obama came from a privileged background. Mixed race kid raised alternately by his single mom or his grandparents, who never had more than a pot to piss in?

He just got those college loans for law school because he knew someday that he would want to run for prez and it would make him look like "just folks" the same way his Kenyan parents knew to forge his birth certificate and birth announcement to look like he was born here so he could run for president someday. No wonder he married the daughter of a Kenyan witch doctor lady.

Since I have shit to do, I don't have time to list anymore Teabagger Myths–the political equivalent urban myths.

glamourdammerung November 17, 2011 at 11:04 pm

What in the world are you going on about?

Negropolis November 18, 2011 at 6:54 am

Myths about the president are "very, very urban" myths, indeed.

ttommyunger November 17, 2011 at 11:00 pm

WH Shooter, two twerps and a twat, plus the Malkanator. What is this, how many crazies can you fit into one article? And no, I didn't watch the clip and you can't make me.

Malkin: "apparently, reportedly, allegedly" (forgot B.S.ishly)

Ducksworthy November 18, 2011 at 11:59 am

WTF? That is all.

sati_demise November 18, 2011 at 9:38 pm

Looks like Obama has bigger problems on his hands. He went to a Gangsta Rappa funeral, hey bro'! Fox bait.

Well, I think it's a cute name.

Of course you do. Telling lies about folks that conservatives dislike is simply another day for you cretins.

If the media had done that about the numerous acts of violence done by teabaggers of course, you would have been one of the folks crying about how mean everyone was.

datateday November 17, 2011 at 10:58 pm

The first time you copy/pasted a datateday original post it was at the bottom of the comment. This time, it's at the very beginning. Please read the rest of the comment where I give some pleasant & helpful commentary for the Occupy Movement. I don't think you did that.

There is nothing that qualifies as that in your screed there and we both know it.

glamourdammerung November 17, 2011 at 11:03 pm

Thank u based god.

Considering this garble, I certainly hope you are not one of those "English first" clowns too.

Negropolis November 17, 2011 at 11:11 pm

Really, fuck off, already.

datateday November 17, 2011 at 11:19 pm

"I'd embrace the moniker so if there's another person who tries something who did more with & about the Occupy Movement it'd be 'welp, they already used up Occupy Shooter, so…'"

Helpful commentary. I don't take sides. The Occupy Movement can always come to me for advice (but they're more likely to come to me to mooch money though…)

It sure must be nice to be a conservative as it clearly means never having to worry about moral and/or intellectual consistency.
