OCCUPY EVERYTHING!

October 28, 2011

Parents ‘Occupy’ NY School Meeting, Freak Out the Squares

by Ken Layne

Look what everybody is doing these days: just cold occupyin’ things & places. This is a school board/New York board of education meeting of some kind. The parents are all, “Well fuuuuuuucccckkkk all of y’all, we have heard about the #OWS and we will just repeat/chant things until you give us our Freedoms of Education or whatever.” This is great, everybody needs to Occupy Everything, for total comedy fulfillment, nationwide.

In the golden age of Direct Labor Action in the United States — the 1870s through the early 1930s, before the labor movement was co-opted by the Democrats and Industry and “progressive gazillionaires” — people were occupying and striking and taking over everything, coffee shops and factories and schools and railroads and farms. It’s going to be so much fun when Today’s People unplug the teevee for good, call Verizon or Comcast and tell ‘em to stick it up their porthole, and go seize everything everywhere, because it’s is already theirs. The look on that kid's face when he sees the cops dragging Ernie (or is that Burt?) away is priceless.

Gratuitous World October 28, 2011 at 4:19 pm

I hope all these parents think about their actions when they're spending Saturday in Detention.

JumpySnark October 30, 2011 at 6:49 pm

I hope you know this will go down on your permanent record…

ApplesauceRobot October 28, 2011 at 4:21 pm

The occupiers heard about those $85k teaching jobs and are just hanging around hoping for one.

chicken_thief October 28, 2011 at 4:27 pm

Kill, kill, kill
Thrill, thrill, thrill
Make a scene
Bump off the Dean
Yeh, yeh, yeh
Knock off the squares
Take to the street
Kill everyone you meet
Just kill, kill, kill

Hey, hey, hey
Dig what I say,
Get a gun
And kill your mum
Woh, woh, woh
Don’t you know
Love is out
Hate’s what it’s about
Just kill, kill, kill

Don’t just stand there being placid
Get into some psychopathic acid
I’ll take you to a place that’s purple and paisley
There’s no problem everybody is crazy
Come on get rid of your frustration
Get into our hate generation
If you are ready……

Kill, kill, kill
Thrill. Thrill, thrill
Make a scene
Bump off the Dean
Woh, woh, woh
Don’t you know
Love is out
Hate’s what it’s about
Just kill, kill, kill

Worst. Porn. Ever.

Blueb4sunrise October 28, 2011 at 4:33 pm

I've seen worse. I just stopped the vid at 46 sec. and it was good for me.

proudgrampa October 28, 2011 at 4:30 pm

My grandkids' education costs too damn much. Occupy Montessori!!!

ShitFilledExistence October 28, 2011 at 4:37 pm

My classes is too big
Was that intentional to prove that very point?

SorosBot October 28, 2011 at 4:40 pm

But if today ends up like the 1870s-1930s, then the corporate overlords will all start hiring Blackwater/"Xe" to go and stone cold massacre all of the occupiers.

Biel_ze_Bubba October 28, 2011 at 5:15 pm

The distribution of firepower in the 21st century is awfully asymmetric; we probably don't want to be going there. Pitchforks and small arms just ain't what they used to be.

Bonzos_Bed_Time October 28, 2011 at 4:40 pm

Nice production work.

Occupy Final Cut Pro!

Dumbedup October 28, 2011 at 4:41 pm

Well I can un-ironically say that was an awesome movie where, like, the little people just took over and chased the "MAN" out of the room. I want this to happen everywhere all the time now.

MinAgain October 28, 2011 at 4:49 pm

And still nothing on Wonkette about the Occupy Nashville arrests. Who does a southern governor have to oppress to get some respect around here?

Biel_ze_Bubba October 28, 2011 at 5:09 pm

Southern governor + repression ≠ news

MozakiBlocks October 28, 2011 at 5:23 pm

Opressing folks is pretty much a requirement to hold elected office in the South.

LetUsBray October 28, 2011 at 11:54 pm

Hitler?

Fauxhemian October 28, 2011 at 4:56 pm

I thrilled this occupy thing is catching on. Here's my OCCUPY contribution. Pass it on. Thanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0Kr1lHgggU

SayItWithWookies October 28, 2011 at 4:58 pm

So what website to I go to to send these occupiers a paper-thin pizza with sausage crumbles on it and a cup of canned peaches?

Jukesgrrl October 28, 2011 at 5:02 pm

Lemme know. I got some sloppy joes to contribute.

NeonTrotsky October 28, 2011 at 5:10 pm

Here is the OWS pizza supplier. Order some OccuPies.

Biel_ze_Bubba October 28, 2011 at 5:07 pm

As long as we're occupying the turf of the 1%, I'm going to go occupy Peter Luger until they give me one of those $42 steaks. With the $7 fries on the side.

BaldarTFlagass October 28, 2011 at 5:08 pm

Needz moar Jeanne C. Riley.

mrblifil October 28, 2011 at 5:11 pm

All I will say is that the NYC Public School my kids attend had their budget cut by $1.5 M over the last 2 years, to make up for lost tax revenue because Wall St. fraudsters weren't able to pay as much to their employees (but payed plenty in protected bonus payments to the upper echelon). So yes, occupy the fuck out of Bloomberg's DOE please because fuck him with a fork.

ProudLibunatic October 28, 2011 at 5:31 pm

FLASH OCCUPY MOB!
So well organized!
I guess the "sheeple" are waking up!

user-of-owls October 28, 2011 at 5:54 pm

One thing this video assuredly did not occupy was my attention.

Callyson October 28, 2011 at 6:06 pm

Today the school board, tomorrow the US House of Representatives…

Lionel[redacted]Esq October 28, 2011 at 6:06 pm

I plan to occupy the blonde in my bed. But I have a feeling the would occupy me.

Avec des regrets Monty Python.

OneYieldRegular October 28, 2011 at 6:41 pm

Sheesh. The next thing you know, people will be occupying all the bars where Wall St. stockbrokers go to drink after their long hard days.

Ken Layne October 28, 2011 at 6:52 pm

I did that last week. From the looks of the crowd around the bar and the smile on the bartender, I wasn't the only one who had the idea.

DaRooster October 28, 2011 at 6:57 pm

Good on you Ken!!!

Callyson October 28, 2011 at 7:14 pm

Don't forget the strip joints, I mean "gentlemen's clubs."
Actually, has anyone reached out to the employees there? I am now fantasizing that some speculator will try to get a lap dance, only to have all the girls say "Sorry, I'm occupied."

DaRooster October 28, 2011 at 7:24 pm

**finger wiggles**

DaRooster October 28, 2011 at 6:56 pm

MilwaukeeKent October 28, 2011 at 7:31 pm

PEP dude just lost the PR war when he walked away in a huff instead of accepting the invitation to their general assembly, AFTER lecturing her about interrupting him — way to prove the other side's point, Chancellor Walcott!

BlueStateLibel October 28, 2011 at 8:03 pm

I'm inspired – tonight I occupy the corner of the bathroom where the cat litter box sits. It will be a mean stare-down, but the cat will win (they always do). BTW, where is RILEY?

SarahsBush October 28, 2011 at 8:15 pm

As a musician, I am quite pleased to see that the phrase "mic check" is now a battle cry.

Negropolis October 28, 2011 at 8:26 pm

And it shall be our finest hour.

Negropolis October 28, 2011 at 8:47 pm

28 student per classrooms? **snort** They are packing in 40 to 50 in Detroit classrooms this school year, and with not enough textbooks to go around to boot. Some teachers are having to have class in their school's auditorium when it's available, otherwise some students end up in hallways and closets. The fire marshall's been going around fining schools for overcrowding.

ttommyunger October 28, 2011 at 10:33 pm

Citizen activism in local government? (clutches pearls and swoons)

BarackMyWorld October 29, 2011 at 12:13 am

the 1870s through the early 1930s, before the labor movement was co-opted by the Democrats and Industry and “progressive gazillionaires”

This needed to be said.

AddHomonym October 29, 2011 at 4:00 am

"I know what will win this crowd over! I will shake my head, roll my eyes, smirk, and walk out of the room. Voters eat that shit up!"

peace_dww November 17, 2011 at 7:16 am

The Oct. 25 meeting was a public meeting was it not? It was scheduled as a "Chancellor's Conversation on Raising Standards in the Classroom." What did the Chancellor do? He ran away from the very people he is supposed to be representing. But, I suppose if you're appointed by other powers that be instead of elected by the people, for the people, then you are out of touch with the people. The problem I see with the powers that be is their unwillingness to engage with the people. Why hasn't Mayor Bloomberg visited the GA and talked to people? Instead he launches violent reactions by a militarized police force, much like many of the occupied cities. Power to the Peaceful!
