Illegalz-Hating New Mexico Governor Is Offspring of Illegalz, Obviously

by Kirsten Boyd Johnson  6:35 pm September 8, 2011

Screw Grandpa!New Mexico’s Republican and first Latina governor, Susana Martinez, has built a reputation as something of a hard-ass on illegal immigration. So what conclusion could we immediately draw if we follow the metrics of the rigorous self-loathing required to pass the GOP’s personality entrance exam? Yeah: she recently confirmed that she is also the granddaughter of an illegal immigrant. But that was, whatever, a million years ago when the U.S.-Mexico “Border Patrol” was a roving herd of wild donkeys nibbling burlap off a passing alien’s knapsack. Times Have Changed, the Ancestor Gods are dead, etc.

And so what this revelation Martinez herself gave during an interview with a local Univision affiliate boils down to is that it seems the weensiest bit hypocritical that she is crusading to repeal a state law granting illegal immigrants the ability to get a valid driver’s license without proof of citizenship.

From the AP:

Martinez argues New Mexico’s law jeopardizes public safety and attracts illegal immigrants who fraudulently claim to live in the state only to get ID cards that make it easier to stay in the country. Immigrant advocates, however, say the law allows more drivers to be insured in the state and helps law enforcement obtain needed safety data. They say the fraud cases Martinez often cites for reasons to change the law are isolated.

AWK-WARD. [AP]

I'm sure the number of people committing residence fraud is about the same percentage as the number of people committing voter fraud. Any bets that it's the same vanishingly small number? Any bets that it will be used for the same repressive Rethuglican tactics?

Pristine_ODummy September 8, 2011 at 6:58 pm

I'm not betting against you on this because I don't like losing money.

johnnyzhivago September 8, 2011 at 6:40 pm

OK, Birth Certificate, please….

Beowoof September 8, 2011 at 6:42 pm

Republicans saying the rules don't apply to me. Yeah so what else is new.

Gurkman September 8, 2011 at 7:53 pm

they actually don't apply to you, legally, if you're Cuban (provided you're a white Cuban). So Mexicans and Central Americans, get your melanin removed, move to Cuba, and get some rich jerk in Miami to give you citizenship no questions asked.

Barb September 8, 2011 at 6:44 pm

She's my Governor and she's a big bitch. I think this is hilarious. The only thing that would be funnier is if Jan Brewer's grandparents are discovered to be headless zombies.

weejee September 8, 2011 at 6:48 pm

They're not??????

Negropolis September 8, 2011 at 6:58 pm

She looks like the miscegenated sprawn of a chuckie doll and a cabbage patch doll to me.

Angry_Marmot September 8, 2011 at 8:20 pm

Needz more Jennifer Tilly.

Fare la Volpe September 9, 2011 at 9:18 am

I loved that movie for the sheer fact that the doll played by Jennifer Tilly kidnapped and tried to murder the real Jennifer Tilly all so she could inhabit the body of Jennifer Tilly.

That's some meta shit right there.

arihaya September 8, 2011 at 6:46 pm

mean while, in the neighboring Texas, the gay-hating Governor is gay, obviously

JoshuaNorton September 8, 2011 at 6:58 pm

Corndog libel!!!11!

Pristine_ODummy September 8, 2011 at 6:59 pm

Oh, jesus, is he ever. You see all those corndog shots of him? The man KNOWS his way around a corndog.

Negropolis September 8, 2011 at 7:00 pm

And the state over from that the governor chose an American name for himself from the fuckin' Brady Bunch and converted to Christianity. Really, you can just keep heading east and racking up points on this string of thought.

Is Mike Beebe really the only one left, down there? Wow. Arkansas is finally starting to turn, too, though.

littlebigdaddy September 8, 2011 at 7:11 pm

"Gay-hating" is an exact synonym for "closeted gay," always and forever.

rickmaci September 8, 2011 at 7:41 pm

So that's how Piyush became "Bobby". Sort of like when Barack became "Barry". I am sure there will come a point when I will no longer be able to cope with Repuke hypocrisy and my head will just explode.

Come here a minute September 8, 2011 at 6:47 pm

He had to come to build the dang fence. Now let him finish it and keep the rest out!

Crank_Tango September 8, 2011 at 7:45 pm

owhatever September 8, 2011 at 6:48 pm

Damned anchor governors. Now her whole state will want to be Americans.

EatFrankRich September 8, 2011 at 10:06 pm

Fuck no. Most of the people here didn't cross the border, the border crossed them.

As our last great Mexican gov said, "Poor New Mexico, so far from heaven, so close to Texas"… from whence cometh Susana la Tejana.

OneYieldRegular September 8, 2011 at 6:48 pm

When Mexico's economy becomes stronger than that of the U.S. and everyone gets tired of working in maquiladoras on the U.S. side, these people are going to be crying "Tear down the dang fence!"

the_problem_child September 8, 2011 at 6:48 pm

Because, of course, it's a slippery slope. Let illegals drive, and they might up and leave the state and then you have to get more to pick your lettuce.

chascates September 8, 2011 at 6:49 pm

And these people pay thousands to a coyote or bribes to someone to come here to work for what is either less than the minimum wage or just above it, in which case that work is hard and dangerous.

Spurning Beer September 8, 2011 at 6:51 pm

Susana Martinez, Allen West, Jonah Goldberg, and all the other minority Judas types seem to think that they will be able to join the country club if they treat the caddies badly enough.

Pristine_ODummy September 8, 2011 at 7:04 pm

They're between a rock and a hard place. As a person of Brownness, I totally understand their problem. In order to get anywhere in the White Folks' world, they have to be just like the white folks, i.e., hate on the blacks, browns, gays, etc. Any indication on their part that they fail to sufficiently hate on those people is interpreted by the nearby honkies as a full-out negroid Running Of The Barbarianz which will result in the rape of every white woman in the nation and also the death of every blond-haired suckling babe and feeble white-headed grandparent. Also torture. The only problem is, those tools haven't yet figured out that at the end of it, they're still not welcome to sit at Massa's table, no matter how much oppressin' of their own they done did.

It's a shitty position to be in, but their choices aren't great. I don't blame them as much as I blame those who taught them to whore themselves.

nappyduggs September 8, 2011 at 7:17 pm

Exactamundo, sistren! The Establishment has proven time and again that they have some serious problems loving themselves; how the hell they gonna love your black/brown/yellowish-brown ass? Money and (the illusion of) power change things, but not in any fundamental or significant way. To quote Kanye, "Even if you in a Benz, you still a nigga, in a coupe."

rickmaci September 8, 2011 at 7:45 pm

Yep. The only way they let her in to the country club is if she is working in the kitchen. Too bad she is blinded to that reality.

Pristine_ODummy September 8, 2011 at 8:38 pm

Wasn't Rush Limbaugh offering to send SC Justice Sonia Sotomayor a vacuum cleaner so she could clean up after the other justices? No matter how hard you work or how far you get in their world, they will never let go of the notion that you are beneath them.

Pristine_ODummy September 8, 2011 at 8:44 pm

Just because they let us in the front door these days doesn't mean they've stopped assuming we're The Help.

snoopyfan2010 September 8, 2011 at 7:48 pm

I don't know if I agree with that. The self haters are wrong by their own fault.

If someone can prove to me that MLK spent even one day of his life playing that game, I'll buy it. But if you pay attention, the strong ones don't.

To quote Stokley Carmichael, "Now, then, in order to understand white supremacy we must dismiss the fallacious notion that white people can give anybody their freedom."

Pristine_ODummy September 8, 2011 at 8:41 pm

It's not for me to judge who is strong enough or not strong enough to get through without playing that game. I find it hard to deal with people like Clarence Thomas and Herman Cain who willingly carry water for these people. I'm willing to work to deny people like them a position where they can influence the policy that affects my life. But I would rather direct my energy to tearing down the whoremongers who pimp these compradores and running dogs out, than the running dogs themselves. The dogs can bark, and at most, they can bite. It's their owners who can plan to deploy them for maximum effect.

snoopyfan2010 September 8, 2011 at 9:23 pm

Snoopy says "woof".

Lucidamente1 September 8, 2011 at 6:51 pm

"She recently confirmed that she is also the granddaughter of an illegal immigrant."

Yeah, but she didn't say that he's from Roswell.

Serolf_Divad September 8, 2011 at 6:51 pm

This should surprise NO ONE. Shutting the door behind you is a hallowed GOP tradition. After all, the GOP is the party that devised the strategy of killing Social Security by promising just enough olds that they'd still get their checks, even if they voted to kill the program for everyone else.

"I've got mine" is a registered trademark of the Grand Ole Party.

HistoriCat September 8, 2011 at 8:31 pm

The full phrase is "I've got mine – fuck everyone else."

weejee September 8, 2011 at 6:52 pm

The only thing that will discourage the illegalz are more executions. Clearly last night's debased showed that 'Murica loves her executions. BTW, these should be executions of the rich bosses who hire the illegals.

JustPixelz September 8, 2011 at 7:04 pm

Repubicans are paradoxically fond of the death penalty. They argue for limited government (except where lady parts are involved) but are happy — cheering — for the government power to legally kill its own citizens.

Pristine_ODummy September 8, 2011 at 7:06 pm

Great Googly Moogly, that was disgusting. Pity the nation.

Negropolis September 8, 2011 at 6:53 pm

The GOP is an absolute hypocrisy juggernaut. They've refined it to a fine art. Reminds me a bit of how Nevada's hispanic governor made it a point to tell the public that he doesn't believe his children are hispanic. Assholes, the whole lot of them.

MinAgain September 8, 2011 at 6:53 pm

In other words, she's an anchor grandbaby.

Pristine_ODummy September 8, 2011 at 7:07 pm

Just like Michelle Malkin. And look at how Malkin made her money! Internment for Japanese-Americans GOOD!

Spurning Beer September 8, 2011 at 6:54 pm

Governor Martinez could just institute a zero-tolerance policy toward jumper cables and low-rider hydraulic systems.

littlebigdaddy September 8, 2011 at 7:13 pm

And the song "Low Rider," which is way overplayed in this nation's baseball parks.

OneYieldRegular September 8, 2011 at 6:55 pm

A rotten melon that her grandfather got paid 1/2 of one cent to pick.

I hope she's not ashamed to be descended from a family that's probably lived in North America for 15,000 years.

arihaya September 8, 2011 at 8:05 pm

true… that's why Hispanics look so "Asian", because most of them descended from Native American which in turn was Asian migrating from Siberia some 15k years ago

Mojado Martinez maligns migrating Mongolian matriarchs; desperate descendants deported via DMV.

Surely, this proves that Wonkette is morally weak.

Repubs being inconsistent? Surely you jest!

They don't care if you're gay, so long as you hate gays.
They don't care if you're black, so long as you hate blacks.
They don't care if you're illegal, so long as you hate illegals.

They're the very soul of consistency.

I just got back from a three-day tour of southeastern NM, having watched last night's GOP goatfuck from a $100/night Artesia hotel room where even the air freshener can't stop the room from smelling like the methane/sulpher aroma of Saturn's moon Titan. That said, my girlfriend just reminded me that I better not say anything bad about Gov. Martinez 'cause the Gov. bought a $150 scarf from her just the week before last on San Francisco St. in Santa Fe.

As a New Mexican I would like to apologize for Susana Martinez. She is hurting our state. She cut SNAP benefits, she ended tax incentives for the film industry (an industry that generating 600 million in revenue for the state), and now she wants to attack our Hispanic population. We'll do all we can to vote her out as soon as we can.
