Orange County GOP Sending Around Obama ‘Chimp Family’ Photo

We really need more Teabaggers to learn how to use Photoshop. EASY CONTENT.Orange County, California conservatives have taken time off from yelling slurs at Muslim children attending a charity event to return to some good old-fashioned black-president racism. And really, that’s what they do best: In 2009, they gained notoriety when a Republican mayor e-mailed around an illustration of a watermelon patch at the White House. Now, under the explanation “Now you know why no birth certificate,” an image of Obama’s face on a baby chimpanzee is being passed around. “It’s much more racist than the watermelon email,” a county party official said. So they’re getting better at this racism thing, is what he’s saying.

Reached by telephone and asked if she thought the email was appropriate, Davenport said, “Oh, come on! Everybody who knows me knows that I am not a racist. It was a joke. I have friends who are black. Besides, I only sent it to a few people–mostly people I didn’t think would be upset by it.”

Haha, black people are monkeys! This is how jokes work! But everybody loves cute monkeys, so it’s not racist.

Michael J. Schroeder, an Orange County resident and former chairman of the California Republican Party, also said he was disgusted.

“This is a three strikes situation for Marilyn Davenport,” Schroeder said. “She was a passionate defender of former Newport Beach City Councilman Dick Nichols, who stated that he was voting against putting in more grass at Corona del Mar’s beach because, he said, there were already ‘too many Mexicans on the beach.’ She was also on the wrong side of the fence with the Los Alamitos mayor and his White House watermelon patch picture. Now, she has managed to top both of those incidents by comparing African Americans to monkeys. She has disgraced herself and needs to resign. If she doesn’t, the Republican Party must remove her.”

I guess we know why this Schroeder guy is a former party chair. Couldn’t cut it with the racism, so now he’s whining like a sore loser.

By the way, it’s noted that Orly Taitz lives in Orange County. No wonder that place is so wealthy! That’s where all the geniuses live! [OC Weekly]

Have we no pride in America anymore? That man is the President of the United States. He is not a "chimp", not a "nigger" and not worthy of this ignorant treatment. I was extremely proud that so many of us rose above this ignorant racist behavior and voted for a man who, *gasp* is not white.

Chris Rock said that the only way a black President could survive is if he appoints a Mexican as Vice President. Everyone would be scared that if the President were to be assassinated, the Vice President would open the boarders, assuring the black man would live to see the end of his term. In New Mexico, our former Governor, Bill Richardson was rumored to be on the list of Veep candidates. Imagine how BIG the Tea Party would be right now had this happened.

    1. OneDollarJuana

Speaking as the husband of a Mexican, I can imagine how much better the White House menu would have been.

      1. Lascauxcaveman

"OH COME ON you guys! No sence of humor here she's not saying ALL black people are monkies shes saying OBOMA looks espeshully like a chimp becuase of his big funny ears. Like all black people."

    2. Mumbletycurd

Oh there's no shortage in pride.
Our level of dignity is in free-fall and it's in the seeds of that contempt — within the mask of anti-anti-heroism — that too many bottom-dwellers prop themselves up with fools' pride.

    3. Swampgas_Man

Everybody wondering how Obama would pull out a second term? Now you know. A man is known by the enemies he makes.

      1. Baloshka

No negro primate will ever be elected again. They are simply not smart enough to make it without Affirmative Action.

    4. CookiE_MonstA

I feel partially responsible because of all the chimp jokes I made about Bush during those years, now that the Chimpy McShrub comments are coming home to roost. Still, no surprise that the "It's just a joke" defense is front and center.

  2. Not_So_Much

And the twat that sent it out still believes her biggest issue is finding who leaked it. Seems like there ought to be some sort of evolution pun in that story somewhere…

    1. OneDollarJuana

This is the reason Bradley Manning is in the torture cell. It's not because he was involved in bad actions. It's because he revealed those bad actions, causing the roaches to scatter in the light.

    2. SorosBot

It's shocking to many these people, the racists, when they find out than any other white people are not also racists, and actually get offended at this shit; they think all other white folks think just like them and this would be funny.

      1. Not_So_Much

Bingo — the old saw "I have loads of negro, uh colored, er black friends!" is a subtle giveaway.

      2. emmelemm

It's so true… my best friend (NO, REALLY) is half-white, half-black. Her complexion and hair are actually quite light, although her features are fairly Negroid and her hair is very, very curly (but not quite "nappy").

Anyway, a lot of white people have no idea that she's part you-know-what, and she's often put in the position of "no obvious black people are around" and white people (who don't know her well) suddenly break out the serious racist jokes, because they think it's "all clear". Happens more than you'd think.

    3. GOPCrusher

The comments were, she only sent it to be people that would not be offended. And that the person who leaked it was a "coward".
So she admits that the e-mail could be considered offensive, yet she forwarded it anyway.
And obviously, at least one person was offended by it.
Personally, I would like to see the names of the people that she felt wouldn't be offended by the e-mail.

      1. weejee

'Zactly so. Orange County brings to my mind the nasty vision of the John Birch Society, which was co-founded by the Koch bros daddy Fred Koch.

BTW, the Bircher's headquarters is in Grand Chute, Wisconsin, the 94% white hometown of Joe McCarthy. Guess not all the asshated teatarders in Wisconsin live in Waukesha County.

    1. Jaded[redacted]

I had to read that line again this morning. From my lofty perspective as a snarky blog's snarky commenter, I thought this meme was tired 5 years ago. I am now demanding that someone take responsibility for this.

      Oompa Loompa doompadee doo
I've got another dumbfuck for you
      Oompa Loompa doompadee dee
If you are wise you will listen to me

Who do you blame when your kid is a brat
Racist and dumb like Republican scat?
Blaming the kids is a lion of shame
You know exactly who's to blame:
The Black Friends and their President!

      Oompa Loompa doompadee dah
If you're not racist, you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa doompadee do!

    2. SorosBot

She couldn't even make the standard "some of my BEST friends are black" claim; just regular old friends.

    3. baconzgood

"I have friends who are black."

The standard excuse of a racist. I, however, have no black friends. Just kidding (or am I?).

    4. tessiee

"I have friends who are black."

I have an idea! Let's ask *them* whether they thought it was funny to depict black people as monkeys!

    5. crybabyboehner

But apparently she doesn't haveany friends who are apes.

      Also, Oily Taints and TruckNutz!

  3. Boredw/Gravitas

Ha! Racist is so adorable. And if you were offended, apparently it's your own problem, not Davenport's. That's teabaggy enough for me.

      1. Nothingisamiss

Actually, I'm waiting for trump to come out in favor of this email. Then his poll numbers go up.

        ha, ha, America.

  4. BZ1

"Everybody who knows me knows that I am not a racist" is the defense of the unapologetic racist (sorry, no snark today).

    1. PsycWench

What do you want to bet that, in reality, people who know her are saying "Wow, that racist bitch finally got called out!" ?

      1. MasterDebater

Yeah, she says she's all cool with "the blacks," but I wonder if she knows what people really think of her?

      2. GOPCrusher

And according to what I was reading about this yesterday, the real racists are the ones that are calling her out on it.

  5. HELisforHEL

These people–and I use the term loosely–are beyond despicable. Who the fuck thinks like this? And feel it's acceptable to proclaim it? And of course she mentions that "some of my friends are black" bullshit. Didn't that get outed in, say, 1973? I hate hate hate them all. The republcunt fucktards are nothing more than racist, greedy pieces of shit. Not that any of you didn't know that already.
Ahh well, Orange County–just another place I won't visit any time soon and spend my 'LIEbral' money in.

    1. James Michael Curley

No Disneyland for you! And rip out that car alarm. It is probably made by Darrell Issa.

  6. BaldarTFlagass

"I have friends who are black."

"And unbeknownst to them, I think they are monkeys. Monkeys make for cute friends. Especially monkeys that can talk."

    1. SorosBot

Now, she doesn't think they are monkeys. She thinks they're chimpanzees, who are primates and our closest living relatives; note the lack of a tail. Not monkeys.

  7. Moonbatting Average

That's it, I'm releasing the photos I have of John Boehner with a family of Oompa-Loompas, and Paul Ryan with the Munsters.

    1. BaldarTFlagass

I was introduced to this guy this weekend, he shakes my hand and says "I'm Herman Munster." Of course I came back with "Gomez Addams, pleased to meetcha." Turns out Herman Munster was his real name; I was pretty embarrassed, but then figured that the dude has probably been getting shit for that since 1964.

      1. tessiee

Some names start out rather generic and then become notorious — e.g., Charlie Manson — but you have to wonder what's wrong with parents who name their kids things like Daisy Duck, Ima Butt, etc.

        1. SorosBot

I have relatives with the same last name as a very popular superhero; and one of them named his son to have the same real name as that hero. On purpose.

      2. James Michael Curley

I have a friend named John Smith. The police hassel him everytime something illegal happens at the motels in the area.

      3. GOPCrusher

You know, now that I think about it, you just don't run into many Adolph Hitlers in public.

        1. emmelemm

Remember that kid awhile back whose parents actually named him Adolph Hitler (Smith) or whatever? Cuz they were bona-fide white supremacists? And then CPS threatened to take the kid away? And Teatardbaggers, white supremacists, and anti-government Patriots went ape-shit*?

(*Pun is incidental but topical, and only slightly intended…)

  8. nounverb911

"“Oh, come on! Everybody who knows me knows that I am not a racist. It was a joke. I have friends who are black. "
    Michael Steele?

  9. DaRooster

"I only sent it to a few people–mostly people I didn’t think would be upset by it.”

So you're NOT a racist, however you tried to make sure you didn't send it to anyone that would be offended… because you are as racist as that picture you twat.

(Why is Obama not crying… you know all little kids cry taking their picture at Rite Aid.)

  10. Oblios_Cap

Now that we've mastered being a post-racial society, it's pretty obvious that we have to work on inter-species relations.

    1. horsedreamer_1

The GOP has already booked Kinky Kelly & the Sexy Stud for the 2012 convention entertainment.

  11. PsycWench

" Besides, I only sent it to a few people–mostly people I didn’t think would be upset by it.”

I know some of those people and they know better than to send me that kind of shit.

  12. x111e7thst

I do not see how photo-shopping Obama into a family of chimps could be considered racist. Now baboons..

    1. CliveWarren

Ok, I don't know how I missed the exact same quip in the original news article. Feel free to downfist my mencia-esque, dane cookish ass into oblivion.

  13. CalamityJames

Ok, really now. I don't have any black friends. I know some of the blacks, but I wouldn't say I'm friends with them. So, clearly, with Daven-cunt's logic, I should be in the middle of lighting a cross as we speak? Well, I do live in Tornado country, so it would make sense. Roll Tide!

  14. Gopherit

"Everybody who knows me knows that I am not a racist. It was a joke. I have friends who are black. Besides, I only sent it to a few people–mostly people I didn’t think would be upset by it.”

Wow, the three most common excuses used by closet racists in one sentence. Well, played, Racist Whore, well played.

  15. Callyson

    Also:
Michael J. Schroeder, an Orange County resident and former chairman of the California Republican Party, also said he was disgusted.
“This is a three strikes situation for Marilyn Davenport,” Schroeder said.
    ———
Am I supposed to be inpressed that the party that lets two racist comments slide is finally embarrassed enough to get rid of this bigot? Bitch, please…

    1. GOPCrusher

I'm more impressed that Michael J. Schroeder is seeing this as an opportunity to get his chairmanship back.

  16. Goonemeritus

I’ll bet she also feels saying “Happy Holidays” an out right assault against her religion.

    1. PsycWench

She's fine with gays as long as They Don't Flaunt It, and by Flaunting It she means showing in any wa,y shape, or form that they are gay.

      1. Goonemeritus

I actually had a guy wax all nostalgic to me for the good old days when you could openly attack the gays. Knowing this guy I'm pretty sure he wasn’t talking about verbal attacks.

        1. Lascauxcaveman

I know some extremely angry and butch lesbians I'd like to introduce your friend to.

      2. Nothingisamiss

Unless they help her with her wardrobe or cut her hair. Then they are HIGHlarious! Just like the gays ARE!

        1. tessiee

And of course, all single women have to have a sassy gay male friend with absolutely no life of his own, to whom they can always turn for advice.

  17. ttommyunger

Say what you want in your defense, but once again the true face of the Right is revealed. Will anyone but the Wonketeers actually notice?

    1. Nothingisamiss

ttommy, you and I live in the same neck (red) of the woods. The answer is clearly no.

And why would the journalisms notice anyway?

    2. GOPCrusher

It was on Yahoo yesterday, but according to the comments, it was either people that were already aware of the fact that Republiklans are racist assholes. Or it was people that were saying that only racists would find something racist about her e-mail.
So, no. I think this will have no effect.

  18. randcoolcatdaddy

Sigh. Why do the Republicans have to be like boorish drunk guests who crash a party and don't have the self-awareness, good sense, and politeness to just leave?

    1. Papa_Uniform

Because they ARE boorish drunk guests who have crashed a party and don't have the self-awareness, good sense and politeness to just leave.

    2. emmelemm

Problem is, Republicans are the only ones with enough money to throw parties these days. So it is us, the liberals, who show up at the party, and are astonished and gobsmacked by the boorish drunkenness. At that point, we have two choices: grin and bear it, or leave.

  19. WinterOuthouse

Maybe a picture the Boner among a family of oranges? Paul Ryan with his grandpa Barnabus Collins (Dark Shadows Soap Opera circa 1960's) the evil vampire. Mitch McConnell with his Turtle Family.

  20. widestanceroman

Yep, not a racist since has friends who are black (weed dealer), but her racist friends (everyone else) don't know about them.

      1. widestanceroman

        Just re-upfisted you.

Marilyn Davenport sounds like the name of a soap opera villainess. I don't care to know what she looks like, I've got more than enough faces to hate these days.

  21. SayItWithWookies

It must be sad being betrayed by your non-racist racist friends. Used to be, when you said you weren't a racist, everyone knew what that meant. Now, apparently, everyone takes you literally and just bitches about how stupid and wrong you are. I think we all owe this nice racist lady an apology for changing the way we all thought about race without keeping her informed. Also, since that time, the seatbelt was made mandatory in all vehicles, phones are now portable, and we have computers that send mail — though she somehow managed to grasp that last one, apparently.

  22. arihaya

also, indeed Liberals do some 'shops of Bush as Chimpanzee,,, but at least they didn't do 'shop of Papa Bush and Mama Bush as chimpanzee and make it a family picture …

Teabaggers on the other hand are very merciless indeed..

  23. problemwithcaring

As a real live darkie, I would actually rather have a the cold, in your face racism of teabaggers, than the "compassionate" racism of the white left that keeps patting themselves on the back that "so many [whites people] rose above this ignorant racist behavior " to vote for Obama. Whities should've voted for the white lady, then we wouldn't have to listen to your whining about how the Magic Negro hasn't solved all your damn problems yet.

    1. Oblios_Cap

Really? I was just wishing he would solve one or two of them

But then, I took him at his word so I have no one to blame but myself.

      1. problemwithcaring

        Yes. Really.

I know you have seen many categorical list of this president's progressive accomplishments so I will skip that part. Let's just get to the part where you tell me what problems of yours did he give his "word" to fix and went back on? (Lemme guess, he promised you he would never have breakfast with a homophobic pastor? BETRAYAL!!)

Off the internet, the policies Obama has pushed for and won are saving (poor) peoples' lives (extending unemployment benefits, passing Health Care reform, etc.). So, I'd prefer some facts, and not just the more warmed over whine-nuts BS about "sticking it to Republicans."

If white liberals can manage to primary someone to the left of Obama, I would happily vote for them (and support them when they fail to accomplish anything in office, once their politics prove too left for the Democratic members of Congress.)

But they won't primary anyone left of Obama, because that person can't win. Reality is what happened to people in Wisconsin.

        1. Lascauxcaveman

Yeah, he's done OK on a lot of things. And I will not hesitate to vote for his corporate-funded ass again, because who the hell else can I vote for? Ralph Fucking Nader? I'd rather punch him in the throat.

        2. Oblios_Cap

I would have been ok with closing Gitmo like he said he would. But hey, YMMV.

I realize most of the programs I'd like to see would too help far too many people to ever be implemented.

And for the record, there's only one AngryBlackGuy on this site. Lighten up – you'll live longer (which given the direction the country is heading, may not be a good thing).

          1. onemoretime79

Funny, I never read any of these comments wondering what person is what color or nationality. Even if they say it. I read these words because they're cynically funny, or suprisingly insightful and full of intelligence – something that is sorely lacking on any other site I've found so far.

Further. I can only imagine what it must be like to become elected to such a powerful position – and only afterwards to fully realize what the job entails, the secrets it holds and what you have to do to keep the country running.

I'd quit that job, myself. That's why we shouldn't elect a quitter. Yet, what do y'all imagine might happen were Obama to announce he ain't running for re-election? Can any of us blame him if he doesn't?

Honest Americans ain't got no business running for political office, and that's a damn shame. How does one stop this tide? It comes in and goes out and we don't know why – no funding.

The funding is only to be had at no small expense of your morals.

    2. Pithaughn

FYI, I did not vote for the white lady cuz she told that whopper about landing in some airport in Europe in a hail of gunfire. Oh, also, she was the most polarizing political figure in the country at the time.

      1. comrad_darkness

I didn't vote for her the election before that because she came out in favor of a flag burning amendment. Stupid patronizing to the right cunt.

        1. SorosBot

And also because she voted for the Iraq war authorization, while Obama was out protesting it.

    3. comrad_darkness

Complaints about ineffective Democrats transcend race, dude. Step back a tiny bit and you'll feel better.

Added: I'll confess I assumed because of his background: uncertain home life, no intherited wealth, that he might not be establishment, re: bankers. I was wrong. It's got nothing to do with race, beyond that his picture does tend to remind you of his outside the establishment background more than say a jiggly fat white guy with the same background might. Race as a brand image, you might say.

      1. Gopherit

You know, when you're backed by the gang that couldn't shoot straight in congress, it's really damn hard to get anything done. Is Obama a diehard liberal? No. I never thought he was, and don't understand how anyone could have convinced themselves of that. Brown doesn't mean liberal anymore than liberal means intelligent.

    4. slithytoves

Personally, in all things I far prefer well-intentioned compassion to outright, unmitigated hatred. But that's me.

    5. loulouroo

Piss off. I voted for the guy that said he would do the shit I wanted done. Sorry you've bought into the Fox News "magic negro" bullshit. I'm tired of race. Really, really fucking tired of the wholle pile of shit from every angle, including yours. Get over yourself.

      1. Cicada

Oh gosh, it would be ever so nice if everyone could be "tired of race". Unfortunately, a whole bunch of people have to keep dealing with race issues whether they want to or not.
        Darn that melanin! So unfair!

        1. loulouroo

It exists, no doubt, hence chimp photo shop. But calling me "whitey", saying that I'M a racist, because I'm a liberal, and judging my voting record? Fuck him. He's buying into a bunch of bullshit that keeps us divided. The Republican elite are controlling the working class by keeping racism alive. If we are divided, we fall. The Tea baggers have bought into their lies and vote against their own interests because the ones pulling the strings and sending out the marching orders are using racism as a tool to keep themselves in power. As long as "problemwithcaring" and everyone else gives them power by accepting and propagating the lie that we have more differences than common interests, they win.

          1. Cicada

I'm white, and I don't give a fuck if someone uses the word whitey. I'm also a woman who doesn't give a fuck if someone uses the word cunt, so I may not be typical. You may be more sensitive than me in that regard.

As to the rest, I don't agree with your interpretation of Problemwithcaring's comment. PWC didn't say anything about us having more differences than common interests. PWC expressed frustration with a certain strain of racism that exists on the left. I've heard similar complaints from black friends(and yes, I pat myself on the back every goshdarn day for having black friends). It came up when we were talking about the dumb racisty crap coming from some gay activists after Prop 8 passed in California, and the gist was that it's easier to deal with overt racism from the enemy than covert racism from your allies. I get that.

    6. Negropolis

As a lifetime, card-caring Son-of-a-Cain, myself, may I just say that was way the fuck over the top and misdirected?

Don't burn bridges just for the fuck of it. When you righteously unload and lash out, make sure that it's on people that deserve it. I hope you don't regularly go around kicking your friends and/or allies in the nuts to get their attention.

      1. riverside68

As a mixed heritage person myself (straight white professional male/red-diaper ex-con) I didn't think it was over the top at all.

There was some venting yes, but I read it as all in the family venting, and 'articulate' with excellent points. The primary point for me was that the left cannot win a primary with a progressive single-payer health care, anti-bank candidate, much less a socialist. (We barely win with pro-choice.) We did manage to contribute to the election of a magical imaginary negro, and he has not been able to get the support of the democrats in congress to close gitmo. He never campaigned on controling wall street, and I believe he is in a position to judge that if he got serious about controlling wall street it would be the end of this phase of the American experiment in democracy.

      2. riverside68

Part II: I for one love it when the southern strategy Repub's slip out of the closet as racist, elitist snobs. But, as Wisconsin showed, it isn't even enough when they come completely out as upper 0.1% class warriors for the left to win against a sexist abusive partisan judge.

Of course that doesn't mean we are going to stop whining. As Albie Sachs said after the ANC won the election "We are counting on progressives to keep tugging on our coat tails to remind us of what is right, even if we are unable to carry through with our promises." (Which I found incredibly patronizing, but who the fuck am I to complain.)

      3. comrad_darkness

I'll out myself as not colored nearly enough for this thinning atmosphere of a planet and come out in defense of the comment. It was a useful reminder than meeting someone halfway can look very different based on the terrain on the other side.

To go from "Obama is something really special" (which cannot be separated from his race) to the political morass we are in. Well, I can see how race could still be carried along in that and sharpen the four-edged Klingon dagger of disappointment.

Yeah, the rant got broader than that. The gap between well-intentioned and patronizing can seem short. That's the message I got. That's not something that turns me off to hear, just for the record.

  24. NewtsChicknNeck

so we can rest assured if she had sent it more people, then surely some of those receiving it would have been these "black friends" she claims.

and she can now say, "I was once friends with a couple of people who are black, but then they found out I'm a really racist asshole and they can't take a joke."

  25. DerrickWildcat

Jeeze people, what more do you want from her to prove she isn't a racist? Touch a Black Person? Sit down and have lunch with a Black Person at the same table?

    1. comrad_darkness

I'd settle for lunch at a picnic table of NBA players with this email printed on each of their placemats.

  26. KeepFnThatChicken

Wow, this Davenport lady has a nuclear fallout shelter filled with hubris and ironic entitlement. All emphasis is mine hers, actually.

"I simply found it amusing regarding the character of Obama and all the questions surrounding his origin of birth."

"In no way did I even consider the fact he's half black when I sent out the email."

"the thought never entered my mind until one or two other people tried to make this about race." (obviously, she's already forgotten that he's half black, and the extant alleged birth issues)

"She was a passionate defender of former Newport Beach City Councilman Dick Nichols, who stated that he was voting against putting in more grass at Corona del Mar's beach because, he said, there were already 'too many Mexicans on the beach.'"

"Again, for those select few who might be truly offended by viewing a copy of an email I sent to a select list of friends and acquaintances, unlike the liberal left when they do the same, I offer my sincere apologies to you"

But to be fair about this conniving, craven beeyotch: "I have friends who are black."

    1. comrad_darkness

""She was a passionate defender of former Newport Beach City Councilman Dick Nichols, who stated that he was voting against putting in more grass at Corona del Mar's beach because, he said, there were already 'too many Mexicans on the beach.'""

Can someone with more exposure to racism (yeah, I live in a University town, what can I say) explain this one to me? kthx.

      1. tessiee

        Here's my best guess:

On the West Coast, a lot of the folks who do yard work/gardening/lawn mowing are Mexican. Presumably, if whoever is in charge of maintaining the beach hired a landscaping crew to plant grass, the beach would then be overrun by the Mexicans in the landscaping crew as well as the "too many" Mexican people on vacation that are already at the beach.

        1. James Michael Curley

Probably rings true. Corona del Mar beach runs right up to the Pacific Coast Highway and has numerous parks on the ocean side and private homes on the inland side.

          1. Lascauxcaveman

My last trip to SoCal included a day on the beach in Oceanside (San Diego, more or less) the beach and grass and basketball courts were swarming with Mexicans. To their credit, they were assimilating beautifully by being as obese as all the local whiteys.

Farther up the coast at Newport Beach, it was all thin, rich white women. I was a little surprised I managed to get as far as the beach, sneaking into town in my crappy rental car.

  27. Zvi_Bleindmeis

Robin Williams is an Episcopalian-American. He demonstrates vividly that to have plush back-hair, one need not be of Greek, Syrian, Italian, Turkish or Bonobo extraction.

    1. Lascauxcaveman

To paraphrase my grandmother, there was probably a "bonobo in the woodpile" somewhere along the way…

  28. SorosBot

The GOP leadership has got to be pissed at this Davenport lady again; she should have learned that she's supposed to keep her racism covert and couched in code words to give her plausible deniability.

  29. Beetagger

Don't disparage Orange County because of a few racists…. my parents live there. Oh wait, they're racists too. Never mind.

  30. Guppy06

"This is a three strikes situation for Marilyn Davenport"

As I recall, "three strikes" to a Republican means "throw them in jail for 20+ years." Or does that only apply to chimpanzees caught with nickel bags?

  31. GregComlish

Orly Taitz lives in the OC so she can be around all the other hot, wet, fun, horny people.

  32. WilliamHTaft

But I don't understand. I certainly don't get offended when white people are portrayed as monkeys. Besides, I thought you coloreds love jokes and entertaining people.

Plus my dad used to know a black guy, so there's that too.

  33. Allmighty_Manos

I love these people. They could wear hoods and burn crosses on someone's lawn and then say with a straight face "but I'm not racist or anything."

    1. Nothingisamiss

And the AP, CNN, etc. would report both sides of this confounding controversy. "Some say these might be racists, but is that possible? They say they're not."

    2. tessiee

Hell, I've had people say to me, "I'm not a racist; I just don't like N*****s".
I don't know whether they're profoundly dishonest, or think I'm stupid, or actually don't know what "racist" means.

  34. WhatTheHeck

The way the GOP sees it, it’s better to be the son of chimps than homosexual. That explains why the photoshop image of Obama is not offensive to them.

    1. GOPCrusher

Just because she may have mentioned his name in a sports broadcast, doesn't mean they're friends.

  35. MasterDebater

You know, I just don't get it…you'd think by now these people would learn their lesson? DO NOT HIT THE FORWARD BUTTON! Go ahead and enjoy a little laugh in your little racist heart, but forwarding it will cause for a predictable and comical reaction from everyone else–"WTF? OK time to go call my local alternative weekly"

  36. James Michael Curley

Michael Schroeder also knows that if he puts Maryland Davenport in a box with a vile of radioactive water from the Fukushima Reactor that until he opens the box she will be both on the Orange County Republican Committe and off the Orange County Republican Committee.

    1. tessiee

"Maryland Davenport in a box with
      a vile
      of radioactive water"

Freudian slip or best Freudian slip evah? You decide!

  37. Billmatic

Hey guys remember when we all chuckled at those side by side comparisons of W. and a chimpanzee? It's practically the same thing. Sure, the Republicans have a lot of racists and this probably has more to do with his skin tone than any actual resemblance to an ape, but at least it's encouraging the concept that humans are related to monkeys. Honestly they're just making themselves look like fools on multiple levels, and the W. is a monkey stuff was hilarious so I'm going to save my indignation for bought-and-paid for congresspeople, cutting taxes for the rich, and the whole concept of the Reagan Economic Doctrine.

    1. sezme

You're probably kind of right, but this woman does have a history of saying racisty things, and that "I have black friends" line pretty much confirms her membership in the KKK.

  38. AJW@[redacted]

"In no way did I even consider the fact he's half black when I sent out the email."
I totally forgot his mother was white.

  39. HELisforHEL

    :-)
That movie is the one I watch when I have had enough of the stupidity we're surrounded by and I want to envelope myself in glorious animation, unapologetic melancholy and uplifting musical interludes. Needless to say, it's practically on an endless loop in our player 24/7.

  40. OkieDokieDog

The GOP/Teabaggies think that if they say "I'm not a racist" enough times, then it becomes truth. Hey, it's worked for the Catholic church. (we're not pedophiles – we love children)

  41. lowaltflier

Are Mexicans afraid of the sand? Therefore putting in grass would draw more of them to the beach. __WTF.

  42. catholic4condom

She has friends who are black; like Rebecca "Friday" Black and her pay $4,000 to have a song written and video made of her daughter singing in AutoTune, mother.

  43. Sue4466

Okay, that she didn't send it to everyone and only those "few people" she knew wouldn't be upset indicates she knows it's racist and likely to upset most people. She's not just racist, she's really stupid at lying about being a racist. And that's not even getting to the "some of my best friends line." Seriously, she's not even trying.

  44. Ducksworthy

"I have friends who are black. " Um. Probably not anymore. And its not because they're overly sensitive, its because you are a racist dumfuk and the laughs along this line lead to lynching, and not the high tech kind.

  45. carlgt1

pretty damn horrible but not surprising. I just spent a week in OC visiting a friend (who is now a right-winger a la his neighbors due to it rubbing off I guess). A lot of the right-wingers I met are basically white-trash who happened to come into a bit of money. I guess the usual "born on third-base and think they hit a triple" variety. Quite a few are hit by the bad economy, esp real estate gone bad, and you'd think they would have wised up by now – but they seem to get more shrill & angry at those "below" them!

  46. James Michael Curley

    Dear Ms. Davenport;
Those who compared George Bush to a chimp were, 1. commenting on his lack of understanding of his own policy, 2. did not include pictures of his mother and father, 3. did not compare him to a chimp while he was a young child and 4. see George Allen and 'maquace'.

  47. Limeylizzie

OK, where to begin? Well, firstly I want to thank all the Wonketteers who are now using the word "cunt" instead of whatever lesser word you would have chosen , previous to your vists to Wonkette. It does seem marvellously appropriate for Ms Davenport, doesn't it? Secondly, I just spent about an hour walking through Harlem, going to the gym, the pet store , the grocery store and other sundry errands and while I didn't come across any chimps, I did see lots of people who are living very comfortably with each other, Japanese, French, African-Americans, Africans and the occasional Brit and , not for the first time, I thought how lucky I was to live here in the greatest city in the world with all the peoples of the world. I am now very glad that those who think like Ms Davenport would not be welcome in my corner of America , and they would be the poorer for that ,a country whch has welcomed me beyond my wildest imaginings and I like to think that if I were Afro/Carribean from the UK the welcome would have been the same. Oh and fuck Orange County and its Teatards .

        1. comrad_darkness

It certainly offers a bit of everything. If you can't find your happy place or your people here, it's your own damn fault.

  48. Sassomatic

And my black friends think it is super funny when I call black people apes. I call them apes all the time, and they think that is funny, at least they pretend to because these black friends are actually the custodial staff in my building, and I can have them fired.

  49. riverside68

If I had a rocket launcher
    I would not hesitate
    I would retaliate
    Some som-a-bitch would die

  50. Chet Kincaid

"The three traits [of blacks] in question, namely, tightly curled hair, thick lips, and general lack of body hair, are not marks of inferiority, but are, unequivocally, in the biological sense, examples of traits which have progressed further in development than have the same physical structures in whites…If racists would take the trouble to visit their local zoo and for a moment drop their air of superiority and take a dispassionate look at [chimpanzees or gorillas], they would find that the hair of these creatures is lank, their lips are thin, and their bodies are profusely covered with hair. In these traits, the white man stands nearer to the apes than does the black. Is the white, then, for this reason, to be judged inferior to the black?"

–Ashley Montagu, "Man's Most Dangerous Myth: The Fallacy Of Race"

Reflect on that while you're grooming grubs out of each other's hides. What! It's a joke!

p.s. When you're done poking sticks into anthills for a snack, you might also want to check out the early chapters of Stephen Jay Gould's "The Mismeasure Of Man." Oh come on, I have white friends!

    1. GeneralLerong

Chet, you cunning mind-reader. I was thinking the same thing, that this is yet another replay of the notion that blacks and women and children are almost as simple-minded as apes. In contrast to white males, of course.

"The Mismeasure of Man" ought to be required reading for everyone, everywhere.

    2. carlgt1

one need to just view the continual sight of Repugs flinging feces to believe in 'devolution'

  51. franco_pinyon

You know, I am basically a peaceful guy. But some people make you think.__This really is becoming kind of an embarrassing country to claim as one's own.

  52. KenLayIsAlive

Well, I just tortured myself by listening to a certain fat, former oxycontin addict during lunch. He said "There's almost something genetic about Barack Obama's inability to fix the problems this country faces."

    1. SenileAgitation

He seems to be saying he doesn't think much of our mixed race President's breeding! Our maybe he misspoke and meant "something deliberately Republican obstructionist"…

  53. Warpde

This was the part from HuffPo I thought sait it all about this ________(fill in the blank.)

"At the very least, Baugh said, Davenport should be apologizing for what she's done rather than attacking whoever leaked the email to media, referring to an email Davenport sent after the story broke calling on "the coward" who leaked the email to come forward." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/17/marilyn-

  54. smitallica

My God, I hate those subhuman niggers.

What? It was a joke! Come ON, people! Everyone who knows me, all of whom are white, knows I'm not a racist, despite this "funny" email I sent out being instantly recognizable by any five year-old as blatantly racist. Loosen up, people! Sheesh!

  55. comrad_darkness

I resisted earlier, but I gotta say it. Man, the right totally sucks at photoshop.

  56. fuflans

    hey stupid OC lady:

this shit is just not funny. comedy is hard. leave it to the professionals.

  57. anteater

Laguna Beach, which is the sane enclave within Orange County, is feeling kinda pukey living this close to this cunt.

  58. One_Man_Band

[Allow me show my white priviledge by making this issue all about ME, the white guy!]

Message to all old racist white people:

Hey, I know you are all about to die, so you don't care, but some of us white dudes are going to be left after you are all gone. And we are going to be a minority in this country in the next couple of decades. We will still have to live here, after you drive your hov-r-rounds to the great Wal-Mart parking lot in the sky. As typical baby boomers, you are going to use up and destroy everything and to hell with anybody who comes after you, including what little goodwill may exist toward non-racist white folks (we exist! I swear!).

So could you please stop giving every other race in the country more ammunition to assume that white people are all deluded, bitter, racist fucks? I can only hope that the other racial groups in this country will be a lot less evil as a majority for us, the new minority, to live with, than you ever were to them when you were the majority.

In conclusion: Thanks for nuthin', ya pukes.

  59. OneTrueLiberal

Franklin and I find that . . . "Photoshop"? . . . portrait of the present First Family grossly offensive.

To our friend Bozo the Chimp, that is.

Bozo, and other primates, have backbones.

The current Chief Executive clearly does not.

Indeed, Mr. Obama stands about as tall as Franklin after the polio . . . .

    Regards,

    Elanor

  60. lochnessmonster

Speechless that anyone in this day and age would not think that is racist. How about we find a photo of her and compare her to what…a baboon or a female dog?

  61. zhubajie

One difference between 1911 and 2011 is that racists back then didn't pretend not to be racists.

  62. MadBrahms

I have friends who are complete assholes, but you don't see me drawing a picture of you with a chimpanzee face, do you?

    (yet)

  63. Negropolis

Ha! It's funny 'cause the president is black, right? The 19th century called; it wants its hilariously blatant racism back, Frau Davenport.

Anybody want to take a gander at how many black dicks she sucked over just the last weekend?

  64. ladyruth54

This is despicable. But is this more despicable than what you wrote about Rick Santorum's CHILD that was miscarried or Sarah Palin's handicapped baby Trig? Thought you liberal assholes were the compassionate, tolerant ones. You all ought to be ashamed of yourself.

    1. Gopherit

Yes, because handing that baby around and playing with it after it died wasn't creepy at all.

  65. Baloshka

Google " American Crime by Race". I dare you.

There are certain characteristics of human nature that I will not abide by. Is it my fault that they are concentrated in the negro? No.

OWhatever is a prime example of a complete lack of integrity.

    1. Gopherit

Thank god we have good upstanding white people like you…

"White men…..white women……the swastika is calling you."

  66. malclave

    Liberal definition of racism: equality

It's no surprise that Wonkette thinks it homophobic to be repulsed by bigotry… as liberals, the people here are about as bigoted as you can get.

    1. Gopherit

You, my friend, have homo on the brain. You know we're cool about that here right? We just like to mock closet case hypocrites…..ring a bell? Paging dr freud….

  67. HELisforHEL

You can come to Connecticut. We're not as 'Ritchie Rich' as people think (those McMansion-styled neighborhoods aren't really as prevalent as folks assume), our weather mostly sucks, but we're a generally leftish leaning, working slob bunch, with occasional idiot moves like electing Jodi Rell/John Rowland and of course Clovenhoof Lieberman. But I think the majority of us are not complete ass-backwards racist dolts. Except we have been home to a Klan 'grand poobah' or whatever they're called. Hmmm. On second thought, never mind. We suck here, too. :-)

  68. ArmoredBore

And Eternal Darkness, but I guess I can't blame him for that one…

Wait, the troll went after li'l ol' me?

    I have a fan!! /swoon
