Glenn Beck’s Website Reveals NPR Lunch Video Was Edited To Ruin NPR

  liberal media

#winningWhenever that James O’Keefe guy puts out another heavily edited video against some liberal bogeyman, both the White House and the Washington/New York media quickly fire everyone involved — because the only rational way to deal with claims made by partisan pranksters is to simply punish anyone targeted. That’s why Shirley Sherrod was immediately fired by the White House while the Lame Stream Media nodded approvingly and only Wonkette bothered to look at the allegedly damning video closely enough to see that Breitbart’s crew had carefully edited it to make Sherrod sound like a raving racist. Likewise, the firing of NPR executive Ron Schiller and his CEO boss was cheered by the liberal media and got solemn nods from Democrats in Washington. Only Glenn Beck’s reporters at his website, The Blaze, bothered to watch the unedited footage and note that the various bombshells in the video were taken out of context (the opinions of others made to look like the opinions of Schiller, for example) and that Schiller’s pro-Republican statements were (obviously) all cut out of the video released by O’Keefe.

Here’s the unedited section with Ron Schiller discussing the opinions of a senior Republican lawmaker and a major GOP donor. While Schiller seems to agree with the characterization of the Tea Party people at the end of this anecdote, it’s obvious he is quoting Republicans uneasy with the teabaggers here:

There’s a lot more of this on The Blaze: eight sections of raw video with written commentary by a video producer from the website. She finds numerous instances of editing to make Schiller sound like he’s replying to completely different statements (a bemused reaction to something about restaurant reservations is made to look like a response to implementing sharia law worldwide), and she also finds sections where the audio has clearly been switched from another part of the video, as well as the complete removal of many instances of Schiller and his colleague praising either Republicans or the Fox News audience.

And that’s where we stand in 2011 America, folks: If you want some basic journalism of the “actually looking at the material” variety, stay away from the Lame Stream Media and stick to a vile political joke site (that’s us) or the right-wing news blog of teevee’s nuttiest news clown.

You don't even need to cut them down or edit them in the slightest to know he's fucking berzerk.

    1. Steverino247

Not going to happen and you know it.

If I was one of this videoturd's victims, I would be suing the shit out of him and about fifty other John/Jane Does. Lose a cushy job and the chance for another over some Cheeto-dicked liar? I don't think so.

    2. iburl

Liberals actually do more pranking with less results. The main reason for this is the propensity of Democrats to fold faster than a lawn chair dipped in WD-40.

      1. V572625694

I was just thinking that if some lefty prankster were as good as O'Keefe (or maybe his editor) is at punking Republicans, we'd all enjoy it. But aside from the DJ who outed the WI goobernor as Koch whore, who has there been since Abbie Hoffman rained dollar bills down onto the floor of the NYSE and enjoyed the spectacle of all the millionaires' lackeys literally grubbing for dollars?

      2. SorosBot

The thing is, right-wing politicians and media figures openly say things much, much worse than what O'Keefe has made it look like Schiller and others said and nothing ever happens; instead any criticism gets shouted down with "censorship!" and "blood libel!". There's a slight double standard here.

  1. Barbara_i

Loving the photo of Glenn, holding what is obviously, a pink slip. Save that photo because you will be able to post it for realz soon.
Cue the Beckerhead downfister in 4…3…2…

    1. mnotrtoo

I know it'll be all because his funding was cut off, denying all those in our rich rural lands the treasures of Prof. Beck's nolidge.

    1. HistoriCat

Well, first you have become a conservative. After all, no one pays any attention to the liberals.

    2. lulzmonger

"You look like you're trying to make the scum pay.
      Would you like to:

OH FOR GOD'S SAKE IS THIS WHAT WE'VE BEEN REDUCED TO? SALVATION BY GLEN[N] BECK?

I give up. I just give up.

    1. DashboardBuddha

I did a quick check of Revelations…yep, this is truly one of the signs of the end times.

    2. Pop_Socket

It pains me to concede he is the good guy her. But only Nixon could go to China. If it takes Glenn beck to discredit this asshole, I'm good with that.

    3. [redacted]Crusher

When I got up this morning, the sun did rise in the East and does appear to be moving in a Westerly direction.
I'm clueless as to what this is about.
Be afraid, be very, very afraid.

Now what in hell am i too believe?!!! Fuckin caliphs are fuckin with us! fuckers. I guess i should just be grumpy about everything? and maybe cry a lot, especially when i see pictures of little baby otters and kittens.

  4. Steverino247

Hey, Stench of Liberalism. Take the goat dick out of your mouth for a moment and talk to us. Were you dropped on your head by your liberal uncle or something?

        1. babyeinstein

          me too!

wait, fuck, i thought that meant i had finally outdone some of you sicko commie bastards. guess he's following us all now though?

          1. UpfistFairy

I've only had my account for a couple days and he/she/it is already following me! Such an honor!

And I smell FANTASTIC. No stench about me. Fucker.

          2. GhostBuggy

I also am on Stench of Liberalism's PalinPals-brand Don't Retreat/Reload Krosshairs Map for Kids. I'm somebody!

      1. ChuckieJesus

I felt the same way when I got the notice in email. It's like the Wonkette commentariat's version of The Herp.

    1. babyeinstein

he keeps telling people to come here and tell us what they "think" but so far it's mostly jibberish. hard to talk with so few teef?

    2. Steverino247

Oh, and let's not forget this Great Moment in Liberal History:

Dr. Joseph Giordano, who headed the George Washington University Hospital trauma team that operated on Reagan, recollected the incident in a Los Angeles Times article just a few days after it happened. His version of events, corroborated by Reagan's personal physician, who was also in the room, was later recapped in Herbert L. Abrams' book, The President Has Been Shot, as follows:

3:24 p.m. Reagan was wheeled into the operating room. He had lost about 2,100 cc of blood, but his bleeding had slowed and he had received 4 1/2 replacement units. As he was moved from the stretcher to the operating table, he looked around and said, "Please tell me you're all Republicans." Giordano, a liberal Democrat, said, "We're all Republicans today."

      Stench indeed.

      1. jus_wonderin

Stench is following me too. Somehow I think he/she thinks it will get under my skin. If he/she is looking on, btw, fuck you conservative ahole. <g>

  5. baconzgood

There is really little difference between Wonkette and the Blaze. They both make me laugh. Only the people who log on to the Blaze don't know it's a tounge-in-cheek joke.

  6. edgydrifter

Wait, Beck (or one of his associates) is doing something… good? Does not compute. Does not compute. Cranial containment failure imminent.

    1. horsedreamer_1

Beck is transitioning into the next phase of his career as political provocateur. He's David Brock 2.0. (No word if teh ghey is strong in this one.)

  7. OkieDokieDog

Why isn't this little dildo prick in jail? Was he bullied in school? Did he not get to nurse his mama until he was 13? What is up with this guy? Somebody needs to delve into his background and find the root of his disdain for America.

This too; also – he's a dickwad. And I can't wait for someone, anyone, to take his sorry ass down.

    Vive la NPR and PBS!

    1. [redacted]byreality

So: This dickwad consistently commits fraud and presents manipulated video as factual representations of reality and is believed, repeated and lauded by (not only) Faux News and the media, while those who reasonably and thoughtfully reflect upon the real world are derided and thrown to the wolves. Bachmann v. Obama 2012.

Makes sense to me, duz it to you?

    1. LesBontemps

Slightly used? That fucker's mint! Never out of the box! However, there is no market for such an item.

  8. Gopherit

Beck is very practical when it comes to his popularity. He knows his ratings are slipping, so he's going to actually BE HONEST for a while and see if that helps. It's so crazy, it might work.

Also, Schiller deserves to be gone anyway. What kind of retard talks wine tasting with practicing muslims?

  9. harry_palmer

It's ok to lie in the service of a greater truth. How do you think they wrote the Bible?

  10. Texan_Bulldog

But is Glennda going to write this on his magic chalkboard & inform his drooling masses?

And what's up with my p-score: p-score goes up then p-score goes down. I'm as confused as Bill O.

    1. SorosBot

I'll give this to Beck: he's probably single-handedly keeping the American chalk industry alive, being the only person who has used a chalkboard within the past ten years or more.

    2. cheaphits

I believe P is a function of the phase of the moon, barometric pressure, internet traffic, solar flares and the tides. You P was effected by the tsunami.

  11. GuanoFaucet

Holy shit, maybe Denis was "right"! Deleted7512897, however, is still a fucking "cretin".

  12. EatsBabyDingos

WaPo Headlines: "Beck Speaks Truth; Blind Nut Finds Squirrel:"

Second one is when Glenn or Glennda finds Rocky and Bullwinkle on Boomerang.

    1. Lascauxcaveman

I've never listened to Beck's radio/teevee rantings, but I remember listening to Rush Limbaugh, back around 1990 or so, and thinking, "Y'know, this guy says just enough stuff that is actually true, that the suckers will swallow everything he says as God's Own Gospel."

I can't bring myself to listen long enough to see if that is still the case.

      1. Rod_Torfulson

My father is a loyal Rush listener and I have had the misfortune of being in a car while that traveshamockery has been on. Rush has fallen completely off his rocker.
Granted, he really did not have that far to fall and is very well cushioned/medicated.

  13. CrankyLttlCamperette

Man, Beck must KNOW he's losing his job — why else would he start sucking up to us libs?

    Too little, too late, asswipe.

  14. baconzgood

Is this happening because his rep is getting so trashed in conservative circles he's going to switch his modus operandi and become a liberal? Because if so……I don't know how to feel about that.

      1. baconzgood

Maybe he's trying to cover his ass, ya know. When Faux cans him maybe Public Radio will be the only option left.

        1. zhubajie

SW Radio is the promised land of wing-nut broadcasters. He'll fit right in at WWCR (World-Wide Crackpot Radio).

    1. SmutBoffin

I for one would welcome him and his followers with some artisinal Cheetos from the farmers' market.

But I would also insist that they get the care that they so desperately need…

    2. [redacted]byreality

IT'S A TRICK! He's lost so much credibility that now, when he puts out something even remotely like the truth, nobody believes it! The old "hide the banana" ploy!

    3. Lascauxcaveman

He also called bullshit on Snowbilly when he interviewed her. Well, in one question at least. When Beck asked Sarah who was her fave "founding father" she said "all of them" (of course). After fumbling and bumbling around for a minute, she finally remembered a name – George Washington.

So, clearly Beck's a soczulizst at heart.

        1. Rod_Torfulson

As he is a former morning zoo radio host, I think he'd refer to it as "wacky tobaccy."

    4. SorosBot

Or maybe he's afraid Fox is looking to the criminal as his replacement, and trying to take him down and keep his job.

    5. horsedreamer_1

I said above what I'd say here: Beck is going Brock.

Never forget that the MMfA founder was a limp-dick hatchet-man for R. Emmett Tyrell. So, basically, he's the mirror image of Dick Morris.

  15. [redacted]byreality

Wonkette, Daily Show and Glenn Beck. One of these things is not like the other.

  16. sportshort

I never go to the Tame Steam Re-Pedia for news. Always Wonkette. I want to have millions of Wonkettes' illegal anchor babies.

  17. JoeBiteme

Alright, goddamnit. Us Wonketteers are of above average intelligence. Some of us know people who are allowed to do things. Can we PLEASE ruin this O'Keefe asshole? For laughs?
    Either a dead hooker or a live boy, I don't care which…

    1. ingloriousbytch

Dead hookers and live boys are so 2010. Let's order cases of Korans and have them sent to his house. The teabaggers will take care of the rest.

    2. SorosBot

The guy made what appeared to be plans to rape a CNN reporter and film it for editing purposes and people still pay attention to the creep, so even that wouldn't stick to him.

    3. Lascauxcaveman

I favor the more direct approach; i.e. a real nice solid crippling punch in the throat. I have absurdly large and bony knuckles, and I'm kinda pissed.

      Anyone know his home address?

  18. Oblios_Cap

Clearly Beck thinks O'Keefe is some kinda Muslin and is trying to take that ho-pimping asshat out.

  19. Extempor[redacted]

She finds numerous instances of editing to make Schiller sound like he’s replying to completely different statements (a bemused reaction to something about restaurant reservations is made to look like a response to implementing sharia law worldwide), and she also finds sections where the audio has clearly been switched from another part of the video…

In other words, James O'Keefe is Ira Glass, and should be immediately defunded.

    1. V572625694

I'd be okay with defunding Ira Glass, actually. Smugness is as bad as tax fraud, right?

  20. Lionel[redacted]Esq

So, Beck goes on vacation, and FOX News leaks that his ratings are falling and that he may be fired, and his underlings start telling the truth. Strange days indeed.

  21. DonnyKerabotsos

Sounds like someone's gone rogue over at DaBlaze.

In all fairness to Glenn Beck, he's been on vacation all week, so he'll be able deny any responsibility for this sudden and utterly unexpected outburst of honesty.

Or maybe he's just afraid that O'Keefe will beat him out for "Douche of the Year" honors.

    1. GhostBuggy

It's better than all these backpacks of granola bars, astronaut ice cream and seeds I got when I went to the site! At least you can spend gold!

  22. GuanoFaucet

Fuck Beck. This one good act doesn't erase all the awful filth that sadistic moron spews each day. Beck is directly responsible for mainstreaming the most vile right-wing, Bircher nonsense, and creating a legion of mouth-breathing fucktards that believe his insane conspiracy-tinged rantings are some sort of revealed truth.

    1. mumbly_[redacted]

Beck is apparently "on vacation" (funny farm?) at the moment, so I actually think this article is the result of someone going off the reservation, so to speak. It will be hilarious when they offer a retraction or correction of the actually true piece, or just pull it from the web without comment: "Sorry for getting some journalism mixed into our propaganda, there, guys!"

  23. Jason_inthe_Peg

Wait wait wait just hold on a minute here. Did O'keefe sabotage a republican at NPR to score points with teabaggers?

What was he worried that NPR had too many repubs and then how would they be able to demand funding cuts? This doesn't make sense does it?

What the fuck? He's targeting one of his own? Is that right?

  24. DangerHelvetica

All material by O'Keefe should be followed (or preceded) by "Dramatization- may not have happened."

  25. [redacted]89048

Maybe he's just trying to derail his perceived competition? And think about this: Ed Schultz used to be a right-wing talker, too…

    1. DustBowlBlues

Given the fact it's this guy, could NPR have not pointed out that the man in question has been connected to several heavily edited so-called "investigative" videos and was implicated (convicted?) of breaking into Sen Landrieu's NO office and, therefore, NPR will have to look into this further before taking any action?

It's a fucking news radio station, fer chrisakes. And they couldn't possibly turn the focus back to the law breaking and lying little fuck? WTF are we so lame?

      1. KenLayIsAlive

        I don't know.

I mean, how can you not stand up to a convicted 27-year old known to do this over and over and over?

It is stuff like this that basically gives me no hope. Thanks a lot NPR. You pathetic invertebrates.

  26. x111e7thst

Would that the Blaze was willing to turn it's keen investigative eye on the several rape/murders that Mr Beck has never denied his connection to.

  27. annoytheleft

Regardless of the original source of the sentiment, isn't the point that Schiller agrees with it?

    1. [redacted]Crusher

I'm still confused why calling Tea Baggers ignorant, racist, hateful douchebags is considered a bad thing?
We used to encourage people to tell the truth in this country, at one time.

      1. SorosBot

Because the mainstream media grovels before the right-wing, and because calling someone a racist is treated as much, much worse than actual racism.

        1. glamourdammerung

I am more confused about how someone that is trolling here simply for the sheer sake of being obnoxious is "nice" or "not ignorant" as per their claim. Or why they would be whining about hatefulness while their flail in their impotent rage.

          1. annoytheleft

Because I stumbled across this post and commented I'm a troll? Engaging in dialog makes me obnoxious?

Or is it more likely that you've found yourself a place where, because of the number of like-minded commenters, you are emboldened by the pack mentality to make your small-minded ad hominem attacks and then sit back and congratulate each other on agreeing what an absolute douche-tard anyone who doesn't agree with you must be.

I have no rage, impotent or otherwise. At this point I'm simply marveling at how rabid you are.

          2. glamourdammerung

It is amazing how fast they go from gloating about trolling to crying about being a victim soon as one calls them on their nonsense.

      2. annoytheleft

Wow. Look at the pot calling the kettle hateful. I'm actually a really nice guy who simply disagrees with you. I am neither ignorant nor racist.

    2. DustBowlBlues

No, he wasn't just agreeing. NPR would survive without the feds but local stations wouldn't. He was quoting some Republics. His colleague was coming to the defense of the Faux News listeners, the way any good lameass liberal would.

What we're saying is [give peace a chance] Sorry, I got distracted for a minute. What we're saying, well, what I'm saying, is that it's time for liberals to quit navel gazing and nit-picking over every tiny little claim the right makes against them. The best defense is a good offense and there is a lot of the offensive that is uncontested about this little shit.

    3. imissopus

Bill you old sot! How ya been? Now if we just had Portnoy we could get the band back together!

I usually have a policy of not talking to trolls, particularly ones whose usernames announce that they take an adversarial stance right from the get-go no matter how polite they claim they are trying to be, but I'll answer this one: no, that is not even remotely close to the point. Sure, Schiller agrees with the sentiments. He made it clear he was expressing a personal opinion, not the editorial stance of NPR, and in any case the dude was a fundraiser, he had nothing to do with editorial content. So for the right to start screaming about how this is evidence of bias and thus we need to pull NPR's government funding is a little like if I got a cold and the doctors chopped my arms off to keep me from making anyone else sick.

Also Poindexter, you may not have noticed, but this is a joke blog. We come here to vent and make each other laugh, not to debate people who live in an alternate reality. So make with the funny or GTFO.

  28. SayItWithWookies

Hooray for internecine warfare among the crazy righties. Also, there's a great piece that Bill Moyers and someone else wrote on Salon yesterday about this prank and how lame NPR's response was. I love me some Bill Moyers, in spite of him being a minister.

  29. problemwithcaring

This has nothing to do with political acumen. These assholes get away with their lies using an old tacit: relying on a liberal aversion to confronting racism. These dudes could have sold the lies on this video in countless ways, but what did they go with? Reverse racism bullshit – "NPR Calls Teabag Racists!" Of course, liberals (including President Racial Transcendence) don't want to call them out on it. So they rush to distance themselves from the "offense" which isn't an offense at all, but rational, logical truth.

Oh shit, I am supposed to be snarky:

I didn't know that Planned Parenthood and NPR are just as nigger, er, muslin-loving as ACORN and health care, but really, I should have guessed.

  30. Jason_inthe_Peg

    No shit.

Jesus. Real journalism: Both Sides Do It!

Except not, once again it's just Beck doing it. Not the liberal mainstream media.

    Fuck this makes me mad.

  31. babyeinstein

then why the FUCK did everyone and their two gay mothers resign after this "scandal"?

    OVARY UP, PEOPLE. christ.

  32. elviouslyqueer

Hmmm, after reading over the entire Blaze video breakdown, I'm not convinced. Sure, they raise a few pointed questions about O'Keefe's editing, but it comes across as a finger wagging slap on the wrist.

In sum, fuck the Blaze, fuck Glenn Beck. And especially fuck the Blaze's Cro-Magnon commenters.

    1. HistoriCat

I say thumbs up to your second paragraph 100%. But I think Ken's point isn't so much that the Blaze has done a great as that NPR could have done the same thing. That they did not (especially after getting burned during the Shirley Sherrod fiasco) is the damning fact.

Ken does not want to be at the vanguard of journalism – he wants the fucking Lame Stream Media to get its collective head out of its ass and DO ITS JOB.

      1. Lascauxcaveman

Here, here. Where the fuck are Walter Cronkite and Edward R. Murrow when you need them? Where the fuck is Dan Rather, for that matter, even?

  33. frostbitefalls

Hey, I'll give the nod where it's deserved. Thanks Glenn. And you're still a sweating, blabbering pig.

  34. MinAgain

the right-wing news blog of teevee’s nuttiest news clown.

OMG, the sky really is falling.

  35. Guppy06

Since libtards are all bloodthirsty New York trial lawyers, can there be (another) slander suit? Please?

  36. Blendergoathead

My God, I may have to seriously consider my previous butt-statement about trading Glenn Beck to NPR in exchange for FOX taking Prarie Home Companion.

    Hold me.

    eta: Ew.

  37. ingloriousbytch

Congratulations Glenn you finally found a way to defeat me. By forcing me to give you credit for doing something right. This is going to be an Ambien and Franzia night.

  38. MadBrahms

Well, we never could've seen *that* coming…

Seriously, after the ACORN fiasco, the Sherrod smear, and the SS Dildobanger how did NO ONE LOOK INTO THIS? Jesus Christ journalism is dead.

  39. MistaEko

OK, the ACORN guy allegedly helping then later revealed to be entrapping the fake Pimp and forwarding his information to the cops basically failed in defending himself to superiors in the know because his english was poor, causing a cascade effect. http://maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2010/04/07/

When Shirley Sharrod got shitcanned, she was pissed and fought tooth and nail because she knew exactly how it was taken out of context and waited for vindication.

So what on earth were these graduate-degree types with even more to lose doing in deciding to tuck tail and run? And why on earth wouldn't some media personality or liberal being scapegoated along with them stand up and say "I call bullshit" or at least "I'm waiting for the full tape?" You know you're in the right. You know the other shoe is going to drop. You stand to gain a redemption moment in addition to not losing everything. Why do you all insist on falling on your swords?

Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the textbook definition of insanityThe 21st century Democratic party.

    1. SenileAgitation

You said it, Mista. Hard to stomach this trend of people so eager to accept imaginary error and rush to judgment. Almost Soviet-like self criticism = self destruction. For the good of the state. Ups to DustBowl below, too. Jesus wept. At least the Aspen Institute won't be saddled with an unreasonable reverse racist in their midst. Why anything from O'Keefe is taken seriously, let alone acted upon, is a mystery. Or proof that we deserve to be governed by Palin, Bachmann, Scott, etc.. On the bright side, no Ohio tsunami!

  40. DustBowlBlues

No wonder right wingers have no respect for us. A Republic can get caught fucking a little girl and deny it ever happened, in spite of the video and audio. Democrats, however will fire someone caught smiling at a little girl in weird way on edited video from his daughter's birthday party.

Why, why, why are we so lame?

    1. natoslug

We care what people think of us? And still think that working together is possible? In other words, we're fucking deluded.

      1. problemwithcaring

That we care about anything at all, outside ourselves, really is the issue. Hence my name.

  41. Downfistroll

this has to be some sort of trick…that or Beck has really cut back on the fluoride.

  42. dox[acted]

Well thank god they fired their wildly successful CEO over a faked video of an unrelated person who had the same last name. That tracks with NPR's reputation for thoughtfulness and prudence.

  43. chascates

We Call On Jon Stewart and the MSM to Adopt the ‘Rose/O’Keefe Standard of Journalistic Transparency’
With New Media once again leading away, let’s start a new era of responsible journalism that we’ll call The Rose/O’Keefe Standard of Journalistic Transparency, where the insidious practice of “heavily edited” interviews and reporting finally comes to an end. If the mainstream media is as devoted to transparency, truth, and context as James O’Keefe, here are some examples of how it can work….
Because Mr. O’Keefe and Ms. Rose have led the way in journalistic transparency and taken the first step, as a show of good faith from the MSM in accepting this offer, we call on Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric to release every frame of video involving their 2008 interviews with then Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin

      Haha. Oh christ.

ABC should also adopt the 'Rose/O’Keefe Standard of Journalistic Ethics' by luring President Obama onto their dildo boat for an interview.

  44. DustBowlBlues

True or not. Doesn't matter. All that matters is this is a lying little shit convicted of B&E and they demand the full, raw video footage. Let that little shit defend himself in a situation where daddy the well-connected Republican can't bail him out.

  45. lochnessmonster

Just like polls and statistics you can get anything to say or look like you want to to suit your bias. Me, I like to slant things to get bacon not power.

  46. Dr_pangloss

You can assume that anything coming from Breitbart and O Keefe has been edited down to make someone look bad. I'm not sure why NPR fired the guy over this. Even edited down its really not much to worry about. *shrug*

  47. PublicLuxury

    BFD.

So a republican lied to throw red meat at their base. Same old, same old. There isn't a MSM anymore. It is just a bunch of MILFs and FILFs reading what they're told to read, repeating what they're told to repeat. MSM just a bunch of prostitutes, fucking the unsuspecting public.

  48. snoopyfan2010

The Republican Party is not the same and has been taken over by an extremely xenophobic, racist group??? Nah.

  49. Jukesgrrl

Crazy people all want to be the only crazy person in the room. That's why Beck wants to take down O'Keefe and why Palin will eventually try to take down Bachmann.

  50. BarackMyWorld

James O'Keefe and Brietbart make so angry with this kind of shit I want to punch baby seals.

    - – Someone needs to put the PR in NPR…. They really need to speak out and defend *themselves* and their editorial policie… not merely reshuffle their staff and hope problems will go away. I think they're in the right… even when you watch the edited video, if you have some basic critical thinking skills you can tell what's going on… But NPR needs to be a bit more transparent when it comes to managing problems like this. – - The fact is that Juan Williams and Schiller were fired because NPR offers ANALYSIS not COMMENTARY, and if a staff member compromises her or her journalistic integrity, that person is dismissed. This is what makes NPR different than other networks… it accepts public funding so it does not have the license to be BIASED period… in this sense, NPR offers a public service in offering news that is not dependent on ratings or loyalty to sponsor demands. – - That said, Glenn beck is famous for challenging his viewers to do their homework… why? Because he knows they're always going to take him at his word. What a bus of bozos!!!

    WINGNUT BLUNDERDOME!!!!

Safe to say that Glenn "Mad King Ludwig Of Bavaria 2.0" Beck has now bought himself OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND metric fucktonnes of hate from the turgid bowels of his very own Psychosis-PAC tribe. Might be a good time for ya to up-armor the Lexux there, Glenn.

I still think the man's a repulsive raving dick, but there's no way I can't straight-up cold respect the sheer perverse chutzpah of his site casually blowing O'keefe over like a cardhouse in a wind-tunnel. Mmm … ohhh yeah … massive O'Keefe butthurt … smells sweet as nag champa.

    1. glamourdammerung

It is the "Ron Paul broken clock" principle of managing to rarely be correct despite oneself.

  53. 27183

Ken Layne and Wonkette say: "You remember that NPR guy who called teabaggers 'racist'? Yeah, he was quoting Republicans. Bonus: Glenn Beck followers unveil the truth (wonkette.com)"

But when Tom Friedman quotes a cab driver, what do we say?

Look, I myself don't think African Americans are threatening, but have you heard what Chris Rock and Jesse Jackson say about African Americans?

It's inaccurate to say Ron Schiller was quoting "Republicans he knows" and imply he doesn't hold those beliefs himself unless he names his Republican Ambassador and top Republican Donor. Mainly what he was doing was expressing his own personal belief and then using nameless anonymous Republicans to pin his beliefs on.

O'Keefe purposefully misleads and misdirects and cuts up his videos and cannot be trusted, and that almost certainly happened here as well.

But from the clips shown in the link, it's not accurate to say he was merely quoting Republicans and does not believe that stuff himself.

So I went to bed drunk, as I do every saturday and most other days also, and when I woke up, it was an hour later than usual and also something associated with Glenn Beck is committing actual journalism.

HOW DO I FIND A WAY OUT OF THIS NIGHTMARE DIMENSION

  55. axmxz

Between this and the firing of Crowley, I officially like Beck more than Obama today. I fee like boiling my brain.

  56. EverTheSkeptic

Haven't read all the comments, but my take is Beck staged this whole thing. He had O'Keefe set up and conduct the "interview", release the edited version to get the Shillers ousted, then went all hero-like and announced the "discovery" of the original video exposing the horrible biased editing – AFTER the damage to NPR was done – making Beck's "The Blaze" come across as a legitimate news organization. Smacks of fraud, and I posted to that effect on The Blaze (but I think my comment was scrubbed from their site….). Just sayin'….

  57. Downfistroll

I hope they send Boba Fett after him. If there's anyone who deserves to be frozen in carbonite, it's this asshole.
